Kanimatsuri Crab Restaurant

We almost skipped Kanimatsuri Crab Restaurant, thinking we had accidentally walked into another tourist trap. Turns out, we were very wrong. This place is unapologetically about crab. Nothing else, no distractions, just crab in every possible form. We were a big group of 13, and ordering à la carte was definitely the best choice for us. It gave us flexibility and let us try multiple preparations without being locked into a set menu. The option to have the crab served hot is where this place really shines. The garlic butter pan fried crab was the standout and surprisingly even better than the grilled version. Rich, fragrant, and perfectly cooked. The grilled crab was still excellent, but the pan fried version completely won us over. By the end of the meal, we were happily and thoroughly crabbed out. The tempura don also deserves a mention. It was comforting, well balanced, and a nice break between rounds of crab without feeling like filler. That said, the service was the weak point of our visit. The dining area felt clearly understaffed, with only about three staff working. We were seated but left unattended for quite a while, and no one came to take our order until we actively asked for service. That was disappointing and took away from what could have been a seamless experience. Food wise, this turned out to be one of the best crab meals we have had. If staffing and service improve, this place would be close to perfect. Great crab, generous portions, ideal for big groups, just be prepared to be a little proactive when it comes to service.

This spot is super popular with tourists and gets a lot of love on social media and for good reason. The all-you-can-eat option is very reasonably priced, and the crabs are surprisingly fresh. Once you're seated, you’re given a QR code to place your orders online, and a timer starts counting down your dining time. I went with the snow crab option, and they were great, sweet, tender, and flavorful on their own. That said, after a few crabs, it can start to feel a bit heavy. Still, if you're in the Tsukiji Market area, it’s definitely worth checking out especially if you're craving for crabs.

I haven’t taken the photo while the crab is served on my table because my hands got full of crabs :) . The quality is great, the staff are very helpful. I have ordered the set meal 12,000 yen which they provided sizable portion. I will come back again next time I visit Tokyo.

We really enjoyed this meal, the service is amazing, the seafood is so fresh and the value for money is excellent! If I were to eat the same meal in the UK or USA if would easily have cost 3-4 times what we paid. It was a little difficult to find the restaurant and the building it's located in seems a little "dodgy"... but we didn't feel unsafe as the majority of the other business have mostly very small women working there, if you catch my drift ... If you're in Tokyo and a crab lover it's well worth visiting this restaurant!

Loved the crab plate set! (We had hairy crab/ King crab and snow crab) Snow crab is on the sweeter side and king crab is very plump meat. Staff was very kind and the service is fast! They even help you opening the crab meat!

This place is basically a must for tourists. I'm a foodie and have been to hundreds of restaurants but this was one of the best meals of my life. The service was very cold and unfriendly though, and put in no effort to speak English despite there being non-Japanese workers.

Food is good and hearty but its a lil bit cold There was no waiting line when i came, the manager (i guess) was friendly and he can speak a lil bit english. He personally cut the crabs for us and explain the drinking bar very throughly.

Had an amazing dinner at Kanimatsuri Crab Restaurant during my trip to Japan! I booked my table through Tabelog, and everything went smoothly—our table was ready as soon as we arrived. (Note: Tabelog charges a booking fee of 440 yen per person, which is not included in the restaurant’s menu price.) We went for the Snow Crab Eat-All-You-Can course (60 minutes) priced at 7,000 yen per person—and it was absolutely worth it! The crab was fresh, sweet, and generously served. We were impressed by the quality and how efficient the staff were in keeping everything flowing during the 60-minute session. If you’re a crab lover, this place is a gem. Great value, excellent service, and a true feast. Highly recommended! 🦀✨
