I had an outstanding experience at this Japanese Wagyu spot in Soho. The beef itself is spectacular—the marbling is gorgeous, and each bite melts with rich, buttery flavor. The highlight was the table-side cooking: the chef works the grill right at your table, giving a brief, fascinating explanation of the cuts as they cook. It’s not just dinner; it’s a mini performance. The cocktails were another high note—creative, well-balanced, and a perfect match for the beef. For a little context, Wagyu is prized for its intense marbling and tenderness, which you really notice in every bite. The service was attentive and friendly, with staff happy to share a few tasting notes and pairing ideas. This place is ideal for a date night or a celebration—the intimate setting and the live cooking made me feel truly special. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back.

We had the Wagyu steak dining experience for my birthday and it was lovely! Food's the best, especially the presentation; we were well taken cared of by the superb staff, shoutout to Yip for the best service, talking us through the food and all. Very welcoming! Worth a try! They even gave me an extra dessert for my birthday! Will come back again with my friends soon!

Every dish was a celebration of flavour and finesse, the Wagyu, in particular, was grilled to perfection, allowing the natural marbling and delicate richness to truly shine. It’s rare to find food that is both so indulgent and so refined. The service was equally exceptional. Faye, our host for the evening, was simply outstanding, warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the experience she helped create. She made an already incredible evening feel even more special. Kanpai Classic isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a destination for anyone who appreciates culinary artistry and impeccable service. One of the best dinners I’ve ever had in London, and an experience I’ll be returning for without a doubt.

From the moment you walk in, you feel so welcome. The staff is friendly, they greet everyone walking in. The inside is simple but lovely and interesting. The drink menu is fantastic, we tried two different drinks. The food menu is pretty extensive but well explained. The food was prepared in front of you and can be customized if requested. Would absolutely recommend to anyone to try! Absolutely fantastic!

We had a booking on Wednesday at 12pm for the signature omakase. Everything was explained to us in detail. The food was premium quality and authentic. Every single dish was different in flavour that makes you want more with every single bite. The wagyu tallow truffle chips were amazing as a side dish - great texture throughout and good flavour to help offset the richness of the wagyu. We truly appreciated the birthday cheesecake at the end which was actually really nicely balanced to end the meal alongside the mochi dessert - we didn't say it was a special occasion, but I think the waiter overheard me talking about my partner's birthday. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the wagyu steak tartare with crispy rice. I don't think the flavours compliment each other and the rice wasn't as crispy as I'd like it to be. Other than that I have recommended this place to others and I hope they enjoy it as much as we did. We will visit again one day, thank you!

I had a wonderful dining experience at Kanpai Classic Soho. The dishes prepared for us were thoughtful and well-curated—we especially loved the creative “one meat, one dipping sauce” pairing. It felt both inventive and refined. The tiramisu was also a standout: beautifully layered in flavor and texture. Special thanks to Faye for her attentive and friendly service—she explained each dish in detail and made us feel very welcome. Great job, and we’ll definitely be back!

Perfect evening. Jamil and the team were incredibly welcoming. It’s a unique and enjoyable experience to have your food grilled right at your table — it creates a relaxed atmosphere and sparks great conversations with the staff throughout the evening. The Wagyu was outstanding — truly top quality. However: • The bill included a 20% service charge, which is well above the standard (and usual) 12.5%. • Yes, the waiter asked me to check the bill. • And yes, I could have said something. • But imagine the awkwardness of telling your waiter — someone you’ve just spent the evening chatting with about the amazing food — that he’s charged too much for his own service. That’s why I’m giving one star for service. Not because the service was bad — it wasn’t — but to make other customers aware of this practice. I would have much preferred to decide for myself whether or not to leave a little extra. The Kanpai Classic is therefore one of the pricier restaurants — but no matter: a great evening with quality food and a genuinely good team
