A Delightful Birthday Celebration!! We recently celebrated a very special 35th birthday at Kempai Classic Soho, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was flawless our host warmly welcomed us and ensured we had a great seat. A special shout-out to our personal server, Pavel, whose patience and attention to detail truly elevated the evening. He guided us through the Yakiniku Feast, a £54 five-piece Wagyu tasting menu, explaining the origin and characteristics of each cut and how best to enjoy them. His pairing suggestions and cooking over the fire added a personal touch that made the meal unforgettable. To top it all off, the team surprised us with a beautiful dessert to mark the birthday celebration. The ambience, the wine, and the overall quality of service were outstanding. Kempai Classic Soho has mastered the art of customer experience, and we’ll definitely be returning.

Great restaurant in the heart of Soho with amazing food and experienced servers who are ready to educate you on all things Wagyu! So many different cuts and a good selection of dishes and wines, the only thing that would have made this place more ‘fine dining’ is the decor (which looks a little cheap with low quality materials and scratched dark floors etc) and the atmosphere was rather lacking. Otherwise a great experience and a hot spot for those with expense accounts and paid-for lunch meetings due to the price point and meat-heavy menu.

Don’t get me wrong, the food is SO SO good. We opted for the 98£ omakase and every single course was transcendentally good. I LOVED the caviar, ceviche and sirloin steak (+£14) especially. All the sides were good, sauces were great, overall what I’m saying is taste-wise, awesome. What was frustrating was the service. It’s not that the courses were slow, things came at a reasonable pace and were well explained. My main issue were the small things - wine glasses not topped up, drinks not suggested, dishes not taken and left for multiple courses… I’m not saying I expect that for every place I go but I’ve received more attentive service at somewhere where I spent MUCH less, and on a weekend rather than on a quiet Monday I think the £54 omakase would have been worth it but I felt the upper level wasn’t at the expected value.

This was my first time trying Omakase, and I absolutely loved it! The quality of the food was truly premium — every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service was also excellent, with staff who were attentive and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I’m really glad I chose to come here for my first Omakase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

Overall a bit skeptical on this place. Is it fine dining? Is it fast casual dining? I went there and they seated us right on front of restaurant. Air-conditioning blaring on us. Asked to change direction and that helped, but the manager found this request challenging I had to ask twice. The beef tongue was good, and the rib eye fingers were good. Just not 5 star overall. Sorry can't be overly excited. The staff were pleasant - but did not have the details required on each dish to live up to the marketing of this place.

Me and my friend recently dined, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The food was incredible – we especially loved the Wagyu Broth Ramen, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.The steaks were also cooked to perfection – tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Chocolate Fondant was a perfect ending to the meal – warm, gooey, and delicious. A special shoutout to the servers Afifa and Eva, who were so helpful and friendly throughout our visit. Their attentive service made the experience even better. Highly recommend Kanpani for anyone looking for great food and warm hospitality!
