"Every plate is packed with protein at this Bolivian restaurant. Favorites include a breaded pork or chicken filet, known as milanesa, or beef silpancho, a hearty dish covered with diced tomatoes and red onions with a fried egg on top. There are also saltenas, Bolivian-style empanadas, the size of softballs." - Tim Ebner

This has got to be one of the BEST Bolivian food restaurants in Maryland! Everything was outstanding. My friends and I ordered Beef Salteñas, Anticuchos, Lomo Saltado and 2 Silpanchos. The portions were so generous that we literally couldn’t finish it all. Don’t forget to take some of that “white sauce” to go because it’s delicious!! I can’t rave enough about this place. The only downside is the parking because it is limited and along a busy street.

Google
Very clean restaurant, friendly and attentive service, and the food was delicious! Great for a casual lunch or dinner. Free parking, full bar with tvs. We ordered the Pollo Saltado and Carne Asada, along with a beet salad (not on the menu but listed as a side so I asked and they accommodated.) Also ordered 2 empanadas salteñas, which were excellent! Portions were filling. We’ll certainly be back!

Google
This place is a treat! Especially if you love Saltenas! Being born here in the US but with Bolivian parents, I have an affinity for Bolivian food with saltenas and silpanchos as my go-to. Their saltenas here are DELICIOUS. . . !!! A must try if you love a good saltena. I've been to Bolivia a few times and these stand up. Last time I went I got 2 saltenas and a silpancho to split with my husband. Took 4 saltenas to go! Just had one of my leftovers for lunch today, I was immediately transported back to heaven. . I have 3 more to go and will be so sad when the last one is gone. Alas, I know I can make the trek from Annapolis should I be ready for my next batch. Can't recommend this place enough, and the restaurant is adorable. Wish I had taken more pics. ** Update, just had my favorite Bolivian soup here last night, sopa de chairo 🥰🥰🥰 Legit!!!

Google
We had anticuchos, silpancho, falso conejo, salteñas, sopa de mani. The portions are huge! The food is delicious, very traditional. Do not buy deserts though. I bought flan and it was so dry, it probably was sitting for half a year. Also, $7 for flan packed in a plastic cup in non-pastry specialized store - way overpriced! Another reason for 3 stars - they didn’t have any Bolivian beer (which is usually Paceña), which is a must when you go to eat Bolivian food. However, it’s one of the best places to have Bolivian food in MD area. Personally, I would go to Luz Mary’s in VA.

Google
I’ve been eating at Kantutas for years and have always had amazing food and service. I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish so I get the fish which is amazing. The new location is bigger and nicer but thankfully the food and service is just as wonderful.

No Thanks

Google
We stepped in this restaurant with high speciations. The plate prices are high but! that is my opinion. The flavor of the food is not that authentic Bolivian, but I understand ingredients might differ a little here. What I don’t understand is how come the silpancho can be served burned and with a taste that either could be that they used old meat or old oil. The peanut soup was okay but the potatoes were tasting old too. However, their service is good.

Google
Im Bolivian and this food is not only authentic, but super delicious. It tastes just like my grandmas cooking 😋 I will never stop coming here! The staff is also very friendly and kind.

Google
Fast and friendly service, food was authenticly Bolivian and the portions were large. I absolutely love a variety of foods here among my favorites 💯 are the Tucumanas, yummm

Iveth G.

Yelp
The service is always friendly, food is great !!! I love this place my family and I we've been coming here for years everything in the menu is great specially the carne asada I highly recommended:))

Billy C.

Yelp
Wow, what a great feast at Kantutas! I had a delicious Picante Mixto lengua and chicken. It was huge and spicy green sauce set it off. The service was warm and friendly, huge portions, clean, and so so good!

Giocrux M.

Yelp
My wife and I had the lunch special. We had the wheat soup which was hearty and delicious. It had wheat, beef, and chicken. The main plate was Lechon served with salad, rice, and potatoe salad it was amazing. The aji (homemade hotsauce) added a wonderful savory taste. All of the food had a fresh, just made cuisine. If you have not tried Bolivian cuisine try the various flavorful soups, they do not disappoint! The customer service is superb and we will return!

Kimy P.

Yelp
Kantutas is a little hidden gem for Bolivians, when in town visiting family we came here and it was like going back to Bolivia. It's a small restaurant, full of heart and has the main dishes you would expect from a Bolivian place. Service was warm and inviting. Their mocochinchi was refreshing and delicious. Even though I couldn't try many of the foods (Due to my food allergies) my family definitely enjoyed their meals and we had a nice time :)

Bonnie P.

Yelp
Not only is the food AMAZING but the portions are generous. The pastelito with cheese dusted in powder sugar is a must try. The Silpancho is my fave but their sandwiches de milanesa is also delicious and huge! Definitely shareable. Their sopa de res and quinoa soup are my fave soups there. Highly recommend Kantutas!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Really love getting the opportunity to support my neighborhood restaurants. This was a new one for us as it just opened in this location. The service could not have been more attentive or helpful. The food was great - even for us who know not enough about Peruvian and Colombian food. The kids loved it. Make sure to try the melón drink.

Maria N.

Yelp
First time trying this spot for lunch h. Nice, bright and welcoming dining room. Wonderfully delicious home cooked South American fare. We enjoyed the lunch special that comes with soup and a flavorful meat dish (chicken or meat-depending on day of week).

Tre M.

Yelp
First Bolivian restaurant I've eaten at since moving and it was delicious. Got a chicken Salteña, Silpanchoand Tres leche cake . Been missing my Bolivian food since moving from Va to Md. will be a regular here. Great service also. If you need help with explanation of a dish they will be glad to help explain.

Wright S.

Yelp
Again, this is a hole in the wall, but it is a very fabulous restaurant where you can get all the local food you want form Peru. The owner is in very nice lady who will walk out and settle you down really quickly and get your order right away. Now the menu has a lot of variety of foods, but if you've have not been to Peru definitely ask the waiter or the owner for advice. Mind you everything is superb on the menu.. I had the fried fish not tilapia. This was trout beautifully the fried crispy. It came with rice and a garden salad. The ambience it has a fell of Peru, amazing place definitely have to go to

Ivan D.

Yelp
My rating = 73 (food 53/75, ambiance 7/10, service 13/15). Lisa's rating = 75. Friendly and welcoming Bolivian family restaurant in Wheaton. (Note: they recently upgraded to a much bigger and shinier space, the photos suggesting this is a hole-in-the-wall "take-out" joint are outdated.) We had: 1. Mocochinchi - beverage with peaches, cinnamon, and cloves 2. Saltenas* (one chicken, one beef) - Bolivian empanadas with potatoes, egg, and olive, served with spicy green salsa* and salsa "golf" (ketchup/mayo based) 3. Sopa de mani - cream-based peanut soup (without the heaviness of peanut butter) with beef, potatoes, and penne pasta 4. Silpancho - super-thin and tender sliced beef breaded and fried with white rice, fried egg, fried potatoes (yes, that's a lot of fried stuff), tomatoes and onions 5. 3 leches cake* (served with a cherry syrup that really brought it together) * = our favorites

Margaret A.

Yelp
Went here for dinner last night. Friendly welcome, got a table immediately and enjoyed some chicken empanadas to start. We have had their lunch menu before, but this is our first time having dinner in the new space on University Blvd. Sopa de maní is a standout delicious must-try on this menu. The cotleta milanesa came with a side of buttery steamed rice and beat salad. All so tasty and satisfying. The generous portions meant we packed up half our food to enjoy for lunch the next day. We will certainly be back!

Joe W.

Yelp
Excellent food and amazing service! Wonderfully authentic family Bolivian restaurant. Stopped for dinner and the new location is very welcoming and spacious. Fast and friendly service with amazing tasting dishes. Recommend for all to stop by and have a tasty meal!

M W.

Yelp
The food is great. The carne asada was my favorite. The rice and potato sides work so well together. The empanadas were great and price was decent.

Joe M.

Yelp
Great food and big portions. The staff are friendly and the food is brought promptly. The saltanians, a Bolivian specialty, were excellent. Cool neighborhood spot

Josie V.

Yelp
The Best Bolivian restaurant in the entire DMV!! Come and taste authentic Bolivian food freshly made everyday. A must have are the Salteñas I have traveled to many Bolivian restaurant and there is no comparison to Kantutas Salteñas, full of flavor. One of my favorites is also the Silpancho our traditional plate come with an empty stomach because they serve well here. Family friendly even babies love to eat the soups and food. One your way out don't forget to taste some of the deserts. And lastly the entire staff here is super friendly they will always greet you with a smile. If your looking for the Best you found it!!

Ana R.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a weekday. They offer a lunch special with soup and a main dish that seems to be a very popular option with the regulars. We opted for lomo saltado and escabeche de patitas (pickled pig's feet). The lomo was tender and delicious, accompanied by vegetables, fried potatoes and rice. The escabeche was perfectly cooked, not too vinegary. Both portions were very generous. Finished with tres leches and lucuma ice cream. The service was quick and attentive without being annoying. The place is well appointed and nice. Will surely come back to try some more of the extensive menu!

Deb G.

Yelp
My friend and I got takeout for a socially- distanced lunch. We had the corn with cheese and shared the chicken and beef saltenas for appetizers. Everything was great! I loved the mix of the big corn kernels and the salty fresh cheese, and flavors packed into the saltena. I love how the dough is slightly sweet. Honestly, we were half full after the apps, which totally didn't stop us. I got the carne asada and my friend had the "heart attack" sandwich, which is basically a Silpancho on a giant soft roll.i know carne asada is a boring and safe choice, but it was SO GOOD! The meat was amazing, the fried potato was delish, and (more carby goodness), the rice has this amazing flavor. I like that it came with a salad too. The sandwich was epic! The egg, the meat, the tomato stuff, the rice and potatoes (in the sandwich!!) Whoa. This is a great local restaurant!

Mary Anne L.

Yelp
DELICIOUSO!!!! :D Very homey feeling. The ladies are very warming and friendly. Delicious food and will definitely be back again.

Regina H.

Yelp
Amazing saltenhas OMG!!!! My husband got it today and is so juicy, sooo tasty.... We will be back for more and try theie food too. Keep it up Kantuta's!

Marcela G.

Yelp
Aaww one of my favorite spot when I crave Bolivian food. The salteña was juicy with lots of goodies inside very fresh. The chicharrones were super crispy and very flavorful they didn't tasted like pork at all it was a mixture of flavor well play. I ordered a Mocochinche also very refreshing a little too sweet for me tho.

Shelly J.

Yelp
Ive been here a couple of times, and forgot to check in. OOPs. I took my pal to feast on saltenas because a drive to NOVA isnt not worth the milage and headache. Its packed and yes expect this on the weekends. Waiter seemed overwhelmed. As he was the only one holding down the fort for the entire dining area. Some tables had dirty tables that havent been bussed. For some reason stuff like that makes me cringe. So we get seated. Nothing fancy here. Place is more divey than anything. They had futbol on so patrons were pleased. We had saltenas. Chicken was the only option. Though it was good. It wasnt all that. It was actually sweeter than I expected. The.dough was too thick. It was missing spices. Sopa de Mani: peanut soup, it was ok. Maybe too watery, and too much starch. I wasnt feeling that good, so this helped a little. It needed more meat and spice. Previous visit: falso conejo: its tasty. Shelly recommends : picante de lengua & falso conejo. Its a decent place. Server did a great job, tbh Luzmilas makes the best Saltenas.

Addy C.

Yelp
Thanks to my friend for the introduction otherwise I'd never have found this -- divey spot with great Bolivian food, generous portions and friendly service. Ordered the two dishes my friend raves about. SILPANCHO - $14.99 The portion was enough to feed two people at lunch -- large piece of breaded fried pounded steak, 3 pan-fried half potatoes (tasted like cooked-to-order), rice (very flavorful), 2 runny fried eggs (you want it runny!), fresh chopped tomatoes & red onions ... and the leftovers still tasted great the next day! CHICKEN EMPANADA - $2.30 Deep-fried empanada filled w/ chicken, peas, raisins & egg ... made-to-order and meat juice inside so be careful when eating :) I thought it was ok but the empanadas are a favorite for my friend. I'll have to try the beef next time. I definitely want to try their other dishes next time I visit. FYI located behind the iHop. Metered street parking.

Lily C.

Yelp

Marvin B.

Yelp
First time here with my wife and the food was EXCELLENT and the service was great (gracias Ines). I also enjoyed the ambiance, they had good music playing in the background and it wasn't loud. The eating area was clean and spacious. My wife and I enjoyed the food presentation as well. We will definitely come back again sooner rather than later.

Esselli D.

Yelp
I've only had the empanadas (which they call tucumanes) and the saltenas. I prefer the chicken empanadas by far - juicy packets of fried dough filled to the brim with delicious chicken and tasty sauce. They are the best I've had and whenever I come to Wheaton I make a stop at the restaurant. I'm curious to try the other offerings but frankly love the empanadas so much I could just stick to them. Prices are very reasonable and the lady at the cash register was friendly.

Maria P.

Yelp
Oh. My. Yum. So I was craving salteñas and searched all the food delivery services, and thank goodness that Grubhub was able to deliver. This particular restaurant serves Bolivian food, and when I write that the salteña was worth the delivery fee, service fee, and tip...IT IS WORTH ALL OF THE FEES. The dough itself has a delicious touch of sweetness, and the filling is perfectly seasoned. Olive (with the pit, so chew carefully), chicken, hard-boiled egg, peas, potato, onion, and a sauce will literally gush out on the first bite. Think of it like a little purse, and bite from the top. Or do what I do and break it from the top, just to dip it into the little pocket of goodness. Whatever way it's eaten...you'll love it. There's a white sauce that comes with it and looks mild, but is actually spicy. Next were the empanadas, and all I can say is chicken. Get the chicken. For some reason the beef tasted rather old. Both had little raisins inside. It might not be your thing (it's definitely not mine), but the meat/seasoning/filling combo worked with the raisins. I couldn't taste any in the salteña but you can definitely taste it here. Delish. Now we're on to the Api con Pastel, which was the best ending! It's a warm purple/red drink that kinda reminds me of this fermented grape drink my Mom would make. Same creaminess, same aftertaste, but different. It pairs well with the pastel, which is this doughy cheesy cakey pastry that had a tiny container of confectioners sugar with it. I just dipped it in the sugar and took a bite. So satisfying :D Oh, and Iet's not forget the mocochinchi. It's fruity and cinnamony and refreshing and sweet and just the right touch to wash down a savory meal. I think it tastes peachy, but maybe it's something else. Not sure, but it's yummy! Next time I'm actually going to the restaurant, and ordering the silpancho. Happy eating, folks

Patricia S.

Yelp
The worse fricase I have ever had it did not taste like fricase at all the sáltenas were good but like it say have your cook learn how to cook better or take fricase out of your menu

Heather W.

Yelp
Casual cafe, but delicious food. Bolivian food is somewhat different from other Latin food in interesting ways that are great to experience. Everything I've had here was very good, and the prices are very reasonable.

Mary L.

Yelp
What a great experience! I'll be honest- since my last visit at Kantutas, I could not stop thinking about that saltena. The crispy and sweet outer pastry, flavorful broth, and the mind-blowing explosion of flavors inside just made me fall in love for a second time. It was somehow even better than I remembered last time, with the peas and olives and who knows what else...I am salivating as I'm writing about it. Just take my money and feed me!! My friend and I shared the silpancho, with the nice runny egg, crispy potatoes, steak, and seasoned rice, and the carne asada (grilled beef). We then shared 2 saltenas, empanada, and a glass of mocochinchi (peach and cinnamon drink), which the waitress told us was only found in Bolivia. Everything was delicious, and there were so many satisfied families enjoying food all around us. It looks like Kantutas has adapted more to non-Spanish speakers eating here now, as the waitress spoke English unlike last time, and menus also had English on it. The servers were all so friendly! I wish there was another one closer to my house, because I would be going every day! One note about the parking, it's difficult but you can park in the little parking lot behind the restaurant.

So H.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Bolivian food! My favorite dish is the falso conejo, which translates to false rabbit.

Pati E.

Yelp
Stopped in for some salteñas. We dined in. Small place, humble, nothing fancy. Salteñas were going in the oven when we arrived so we enjoyed two empanadas while we waited. They were very tasty but not as tasty as the salteñas. The salteñas were worth the wait! We had chicken and beef. They were delicious, as were the sauces served with them. The lady running the dinning room/our server was very nice. She was busy but took good care of us. Will definitely be back but will probably order takeout. I wish I had a pic to share but there was no time waste. All gone lol

Dinh N.

Yelp
My friends and I got lunch at this restaurant on Saturday. We ordered the peanut soup, chicken soup, choclo con queso, chicharron, picante mixto, and chicken empanada. The food is mostly South American and well seasoned. I particularly enjoyed the peanut soup and choclo com queso and will be back for them. If you're an adventurous eater, try the picante mixto, it includes beef tongue and chicken in their red sauce.

Jorge R.

Yelp
My home away from home. Delicious Bolivian food (with a Cochabamba influence). This is the place all Marylanders should go to instead of the long pilgrimage to Virginia's Luzxxxxs (there's two of those now, apparently). We usually get Salteñas (beef and chicken). They are amazing! And always a plate of X. It could be Aji de Lengua, or Picante, or Silpancho. The staff and "sabor" does not disappoint. You should go there and try it out. Hey - even Virginian's should make the trip to Maryland for Bolivian food... Kantuta's makes that trip worth it.

Vanessa B.

Yelp
I wish I had pictures but believe me when I say that whenever we come here, taking pictures is the last thing on our minds. We always arrive knowing what we're going to get and sometimes we're so hungry that we call ahead and have them make our food before we even arrive. While we haven't been too adventurous with our choices, we just know what we love and always feel as though it was a home cooked meal. Without fail we always get the chicken tucumanes (don't get caught not putting the white sauce on them bc it simply takes these already delicious empanadas to a whole new level). I like to go during lunch time because they have lunch specials that are a good value and consist of a soup and entree. Of the soup options, I love the chicken soup and also the quinoa soup (has beef and chicken). Can't speak on the peanut soup that my friend always gets because for some reason my mind a pallet won't let me want to try it. Moving on...the silpancho is always a staple. One of us always has to order it if the other wants something else (usually that's me). I get lentils when it's available and I also love their carne asada. The flavor is mouthwatering. I got their pescado frito once and for a second I though I was in El Salvador having fish by the beach. I had to keep swatting my bf away from my plate. Ordered 3 more to take to his parents since good fried fish is hard to find. Check them out if you're in the area. It's not fancy by any means. Just good quality food! As an added bonus, I always take tucumanes to get together or potlucks. Also to my new mommy friends. They're always a hit.

TheRockStarOfMotivation L.

Yelp
Food is always on point fresh, hot and flavorful! My favorite dish is the saltenas! Absolutely amazing 2 or more each time!

Alexandra R.

Yelp
I spent a semester abroad in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and I visit this place when I feel nostalgic! This food is just as delicious as the home-cooked food my host mother would make. The trip out to Wheaton (for me from SE DC) is worth it. I usually go at less traditional meal hours (3-4 on a weekend) and it's still always very full. But despite that, the service is quick and everyone who works there is really friendly. Usually, I start out with some "appetizers," because I really don't want to miss out on anything (and I just leave the place feeling so full)! I like the tucumana de carne (beef empanada) and the salteña de pollo (chicken) and I LOVE the SOPA DE MANI (peanut soup). For those who haven't had that, it's a creamy soup full of meat, potato, rice, and, at Kantutas, fried potato bits. It's delicious. For an entree, I have had the silpancho (beef cutlet, potato, rice, tomato salad, and fried egg), the trancapecho (all of the silpancho ingredients on a HUGE roll), and the falso conejo ( literally "fake rabbit"-- I am pretty sure it's beef). I definitely recommend either the silpancho or falso conejo. And I'm excited to try some of the other Bolivian foods on the menu, such as the charque and the milanesa. Also, there are lots of Bolivian beverage and dessert options; Inca Cola and Paceña (beer) are my favorites. The pastries look great too, but I've always been too full to try them. All in all, this is probably one of my very favorite places to eat in the whole DMV.

Glenn L.

Yelp
there's always soccer on the tv. we usually order chicha morada to drink, tostones to start, and my last time i got the silpancho, which was good.

Roy S.

Yelp
Came here with a Bolivian friend and took his advice on what to get. I had the Silpancho which was pretty tasty. Runny eggs, rice, potatoes, and fried meat. HUGE portions all around. Everything we ordered was a monster size. Reminded me of an old school diner. I LOVED the green spicy sauce they gave us with the meal. Super flavorful and spicier then I expected. This is not white people spicy, be cautious with this stuff if you think jalapenos are hot. The saltenas were also really good. Sweet and savory with an interesting flavor. A must have for sure! The décor and ambiance is nothing special. They concentrate on the food and not making the place look lux. Just come hungry and ready to take a to go box...

Mike B.

Yelp
The journey to Kantutas was long overdue. But now, this B had a purpose. I'm working on a project, and I needed to see what Bolivian cuisine was all about. There are 2 things people talk about when they talk about Kantuatas. Silpancho: Definition: "consists of a base layer of rice, usually white, followed by a layer of boiled and sliced potatoes [ours were roasted I believe]. Next, a thin layer of schnitzel-style meat is laid on top, followed by a layer of chopped tomato. In addition, onion, beet [Ours had no beet. ] and parsley are mixed together and topped with either one or two fried eggs" My Thoughts: compared to the other dishes... I found this quite bland... In fact, without this dish, I would have called it a near perfect meal. I felt like the rice needed seasoning, that the pico on top needed another dimension. I was a little disappointed that the eggs wern't runny. I feel like if they had runny yolks, it would have definitely made the dish more enjoyable. The potatoes were good, but you can find very similar potatoes with the anticuchos if that's the reason you're ordering the dish. Anticuchos: Definition: Thin slices of beef heart that are skewered and grilled. Served with potatoes and a peanut sauce. My thoughts: Loved this dish! Truthfully, honestly, no lie, telling the truth here, no joke, not playin', no kid, no fib, seriously... if no one told me that this was beef heart, I would have thought it was thin slices of flank steak. I'm not sure how the heart has the same texture as the other cuts... but it does. The marinade was delicious... I enjoyed eating the pieces alone without the peanut sauce. 2 sauces on the table: Green Sauce: This sauce should come with an air horn style warning. It is hot!!! I put a pea size on a spoon and tasted it... Let's just say it took a while for my mouth to cool down. It's looks like ground jalapenos and other chiles. White sauce: This tasted like a mix of sour cream, mayo, and hot sauce - both me and my dining companion agreed. Saltena: This might have been my favorite thing of the whole meal. An empanada filled with chicken and egg and a good amount of savory sauce just leaks out when you pop the top. It's like a Bolivian version of a Xiao Long Bao. It was amazing, epic, great, tasty, flavorful, delicate, punchy, salty, in your face, delectable and fun. The next time I go here, I will be order one of these personally for me, maybe 2 ! Empanada: It was good, but no where near as good as the Saltena. I mean... man was that thing good.

Matthew H.

Yelp
Service is great, and the staff is friendly. The chicken and beef salteñas were only mediocre. I have had better ones.

Mason P.

Yelp
tl;dr: Local Spanish Bolivian food. Large portion. Really spicy sauce. Super casual authentic vibes. I had their version of steak and eggs and it is so much better. I will come back to try the other stuff. This local place has been on my radar for quite some time now since I've moved here. It's a very casual hole in the wall place but I enjoyed every second of it. The host/waitress seemed like a teenager helping out her family and it was honestly quite heartwarming. Really gave a home-like vibe. She recommended me the Salpincho as it was my first time. Did not even read what I was getting myself into but it was a pleasant surprise. The easiest explanation for this dish is, it is the Spanish Bolivian version of the American classic of steak and eggs. The steak is a thinly fried piece over rice, with a sort of pico de gallo on top + 3 fried runny eggs, with a hidden fried potato underneath. I was honestly surprised by the potato, it was sliced in thirds but incredibly deep fried. I was so surprised that I forgot to take a picture. I think the kicker here is that the waitress gave me some spicy sauce/salsa? It was essentially chilies pureed and when she said it was hot sauce it was incredibly hot. My spice tolerance is high and oh man that was a surprise but it was a good burn. I do not regret using it all. I plan to return here to try other things on their menu. It was a great first time.

Sandra G.

Yelp
I ordered a fish that smelled and tasted bad. After two bites i returned it. After complaining, not eating it and feeling sick to my stomach was charged full price. SHAME OF CUSTOMER SERVICE! Will never come again.

Yelp
No complaints here. We were driving around trying to find a place to eat and I remembered I bookmarked this place some time ago! I'm not too familiar with the type of food here.. I think it's Bolivian? And I've only had Bolivian food once at a small shop near my house. Yelp had a lot of pics of silpacho so my fiance ordered a large order of that. Plus the table near us had two orders so why not! It was a good price too, 13$. I ordered the carne asada cause it also looked pretty good on yelp. I think that was like 14$. They brought out a green homemade hot sauce that was very very veryyyyyy good! My gma makes a hot sauce kinda similar to that. I've never ever had that hot sauce at a restaurant before. They also brought out this white sauce in a bottle... That I thought was supposed to calm the spice but instead it had a little kick itself. My fiancé practically used all the white sauce and ordered another green sauce! It was really flavorful and had spice to it. I've been to some Hispanic restaurants and they give you that green sauce in a bottle that's like super hit and has no flavor. I dunno why they give you that stuff cause it's gross! Good food. Decent ambiance. The server was fine she was attentive enough. We weren't sure how much English she spoke though. My fiancé wanted to order the chicha morada but we didn't know the name at the time so he said the purple drink on the very far right.. Then he went up with her and pointed to it. I had ordered a tamarind drink and we didn't want her to get confused by giving us another tamarind drink instead of the purple drink. Both juices were good, I want one right now actually lol. We will be back. Good food, good prices and looks like good people running the place. And it's fairly close.

Yelp
So I basically just tried what the previous orders suggested... why try something different when they are recommending you good dishes?? *Caution* This restaurant gets packed for it's small size, and food does run out. I tried to go on Thursday for dinner and they were closing because everything was sold out... Anyway, so I started off with the saltena. Don't be fooled by the name, it's actually sweet, not salty. It was okay, and a lot of people really like it. But I'm a sodium type of guy. I like my high blood pressure! So I just thought it was all right. And be careful of hte olive seed in it... I just bite right through it, chewing olive seeds are gross, lol. I had some of the peanut soup my friend ordered. It was huuge. It was delicious, more like a potato cream soup to me, but I liked it a lot (only offered saturdays and Tuesdays). For my main dish, I got the silpancho. This dish was ginormous. It was like a family sized dish; apparently all dishes in Bolivia are of this size. But more importantly, it tasted really good. Has a lot of things going on. Fried steak, egg, rice, potatos, chopped tomotoes and onions, and the llajua sauce (spicy green sauce that I love).

Yelp
Try the Carne Asada or the Milanesa. They are amazing. Their saltenas are also delicious. They have a small space, so during busy times it's hard to get a place to sit, and the food gets cold on the drive home. If you can, stay and eat there. Because the space is so small, I wouldn't recommend going in party's larger than 4 people, and if you don't have to take kids, that's probably best. It sometimes feels under staffed, but the owner and staff are very nice and attentive. I guess it's what you would expect from a very small business with lots of customers during busy times. Easy to overlook everything once you are eating, the food is great.

Yelp
Found a ROACH or some type of bug on my plate mixed in with the food. I told the waitress about it and she took one look at it and said sorry she'll remove it from my check. However, later on she came back and denied it was a roach saying it's the type of meat or something they use and kept making excuses for it. The expression on her face looked like she was lying to cover it up. The roach stood out because when I ate my food I knew everything that was on my plate except for that. She then later made me pay for the meal and kept denying it was a roach.

Yelp
Editing my review. I gave this place 5 stars before hand but now am changing it to 1 star. In the beginning, we were served a big nice portion that would fill you up. Guac was a good portion, big potato, 2 pieces of steak (carne asada), and the greens. I come back a few months later. That charge me the same amount and downsize the plate. 1 strip of thin steak. Smaller portion of guac and the baked potato. They care about their profits. Avoid!!!!! That's not even the worst part..we ordered 2 meals and told the waitress what we wanted. Kitchen staff came back with one...when we talked to our waitress, she had agreed with us that we ordered 2 meals and had even written it down..but they only gave us one meal. Miscommunication was huge and could've been avoided has the kitchen staff communicated with the waitress properly. Had to LEAVE without finishing 1/2 meals because service was that poor (due to missed meal and severely downgraded portions).

Yelp
There are not many Bolivian restaurants in the Mo Co area so I have been happy to see that Kantutas is still in business. They definitely serve as close as you can get to authentic Bolivian food. I don't go as often as I would like because I don't live too close. I think if I did, I would be there a lot . My go to plates are salteñas, silpancho, and sopa de mani. They taste delicious . The only thing that I recommend for them to improve is the process to order. When it gets busy, you end up waiting for a while to put your order in since the place is small and people are trying to be seated. I think what helped is that the people that work there were really nice and apologetic for my party waiting and being expected to sit at a table meant for two when we were a party of four. Still the food is worth it to stop by and taste for yourself!

Yelp
Hidden. So hidden. Near the Wheaton triangle. Off to the side. No wonder I didn't see it before. Especially since there are so many places to choose from in this area!! It was the other reviews that brought me here... Started with an empanada. So good. Meat veg and egg with a good gravy. I wanted the saltena but they were in the oven. Such bad timing. I really wanted one. Later on when they were ready I was full... So sad. And I saw literally everyone else having one!!! :( I shouldn't have eaten so much other fooood!! Then order the silpancho. Fried steak. On rice and fried potatoes. With fixings. Topped with sunny side up runny eggs. I ordered the small. That's 2 eggs worth. The large is 3 eggs worth. Small was good enough for me. I ate it so fast... Mmmm... Wonderful taste. Also tried some of the carne asada. The favor is addicting. And so tender. So good. When does it end... When I burst at the seams and collapse in the chair. The waitress did come by and ask if I still wanted the saltena... I declined and said that I would be back!!
