"This sports bar slipped into the spot in Deep Ellum previously occupied by Harlowe MXM. Owned by Kevin Kelley, who alos has Kitchen + Kocktails in Downtown, it features loads of TVs over the up- and downstairs. The cocktail menu includes an array of old fashioneds with flavors like peach, blackberry, and a chocolate tequila version of the drink. For summer, we are into the Popscicle, which is a hefty pour of champagne with a frozen pop inside." - Courtney E. Smith

We went on Valentine’s Day. It was crowded as expected. We were placed at a very small table by the window in the dining hall. The tables and chairs were uneven so there was a lot of rocking while we ate. The waitress was great she worked to try and balance our table by making a makeshift balancer to place under the table. There was also a slight sewer smell in the area we set in but that didn’t taint the overall experience. The food was great we shared the Truffle Fries which were a showstopper! I had the charbroiled oysters which were delicious and wings they were ok. My wife had the crab cake burger which she thoroughly enjoyed. We drank a few old-fashioned(s) which were also great. They had a live musical performance which was nice but they left around 8pm so after it kind of changed the vibe but not too much. Overall a cool experience. We will likely be back.

Felicia was amazing—she really made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. I loved the fish sandwich! Hands down the best item I’ve tried on the menu so far.

My Husband and I came on Sunday Funday and it was a vibe. We decided to sit outside for the fresh air . The couches were a little dirty but a little wipe off would have done it. Overall the atmosphere was nice but the party was on the roof💕. I ordered the steak eggrolls, they were good but tasted like hotel I fix at home. My Husband got the Kanva bacon cheeseburger, he said it was great. The Cosomigo margarita..OMG off the chain. Sip it slow because it will sneak up on you in a great way. Edit:We ended up going back on 3/18 my actual birthday and let me tell y’all the casino margaritas do not disappoint… don’t ever take that off the menu. The wings were small but good. I ordered the cheesesteak but didn’t like it… I’m a real Texas baby so I didn’t like nor want cheddar on my Philly but the vibe was great. My cousin had the fried oysters and said 9/10

This place is a VIBE! Especially on Sunday/evening. The atmosphere is inviting and literally calling YOUR NAME to come catch this VIBE. We mainly ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers so I am not sure about the food. It’s Mother’s Day so we came after having brunch somewhere else. I WILL BW BACK!

Stopped in for lunch and were sat with no reservations. As we waited on our food we began to smell sewer. Not sure if it’s the pipes or restroom too afraid to enter after smelling it at a table. The food was ok. The eggrolls were the best dish I sampled while there. The sodas are can sodas that they charge way too lunch much for and no refills obviously. Service could be more better, young staff more worried about gossiping about the patrons than tending to them. Ofcourse gratuity is automatically added to bill which is likely why service was subpar.

Pretty place with a nice view, however, terrible service. The vibes were there, the service was not in the building with us. No one to greet you at the door. Staff walked around without speaking or even offering any assistance to seat us. Finally the security guard offered to the find the hostess. We were seated on the rooftop around 3:30 pm, all of 20 guest total in the building at the time & we were a group of 4. I asked several employees to have someone sweep up fries and old food, so it wouldn't get smashed under our heels. After an hour or so, it was finally taken care of. Server took 40 mins to bring us tap water, we ordered our own drinks at the bar, took an hour and a half to get food & mimosa tour. Food came out cold, mimosa tour watered down, we requested a remake. A manager appeared asking about service, however, his hospitality was limited when trying to accommodate for the mishaps, lol. SIMPLY DO BETTER! Especially when gratuity is included and service is this terrible. This is my second visit since the change to Kanvas. I didn't leave a review the first time in hopes the experience would change since it was fairly new. There's really no excuse for such poor service.

First off, Waitress Deandra was phenomenal! Took great care of us. The drinks were delicious and the food was pretty good. Wings needed a lil more flavor but over all great experience. Will be back

Date with hubby here was great . We tried the chipotle peach bbq wings, truffle fries, shrimp & lobster oysters, and the watermelon frozen casa migo margarota and a mango frozen casa migo margarita. Oh and the cookie skillet ! Everything tasted amazing. Cooked to perfection. Prices were decent. Ranged from $10-$28 each. Played current pop , hip-hop and r&b music. Wasnt too crowded. We didnt have to wait at all. Our waitress Demerica was awesome ! She ensured we had all we needed . Checked in constantly and was just sweet and helpful when choosing which items were best to try. Highly reccommend . 9/10 only because the options are few . Therefore if you are looking for more options outside of your favorite finger foods (pizza, wings, burgers, fries, tacos, chips/queso/guac and such) this may not be the place for you. However it was a nice experience .

Yelp
I met my girls here for our monthly girls night out. It's the same location that Harlowe used to be in Deep Ellum. We took a Lyft there and I'm grateful because the parking is crazy in Deep Ellum plus the Tyson & Jake Paul fight was also on. Michael was our server and he was personable and gave us solid recommendations. We ordered the Rockefeller oysters and wings for our appetizer. I've never tried oysters and will only try them cooked so this was the perfect place to try them. They were seasoned well & thankfully weren't the slimy texture I envisioned. The wings were decent but rather small. I ordered the Remy Refresher and the crab cake sandwich. I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich as well the drink. The vibes were nice. The restaurant and restroom were clean. It's a cool spot to stop by and watch a game or grab a bite to eat or drink! The only thing that I really disliked was that there was a lady going around taking pics and selling them For $25 with a cute frame. I hate being solicited to.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Ima keep short and sweet. Our service was horrible. It was so bad I shoulda been paid to even walk through the door. Our server the light skin with the neck tat was so stank she shoulda been sent home. She was late bringing our drinks brought a random beer that was perfume infused. Sat on her phone or was talking to her friends while we're waiting on drinks. She has no customer service skills and needs retraining ASAP. We asked for the manager and he didn't wanna hear anything we had to say. Just rushing us along. At least we got them nasty fries taken off. Speaking of the fries they came out cold and soggy and whosever idea it was to put chicken on it, never step foot in a kitchen again. Edit: 20% gratuity was not deserved. And y'all really need to take that away cause it's causing you workers to be lazy af.

Yelp
‼THIS ESTABLISHMENT LITERALLY POISONED ME! PLEASE READ‼ Ok let's get into it. I saw the viral tik tok going around about this place and I found out it was a black owned business so I wanted to support. I went to go watch the Tyson v Paul fight and get a drink and some food. When I got there, it was a mess communication wise with the servers. They sent me to one table and then said they weren't gonna be playing the fight outside so I had to go inside upstairs and then they told me it was $300 for a table. So finally, I just got a seat at the bar downstairs. I ordered some nachos to start and the crabcake sandwich from the viral video. My entrée ended up coming before my appetizer and that's a big pet peeve of mine so I was already irritated. I had to wait for my nachos to come and They were not good at all. The queso did not have enough bite and the spiced chicken was weird. I ate a couple of bites of those and I was like no these are terrible so I stopped. My waiter came back and asked if I wanted to go box because that's how little I ate and I said no. The guacamole it came with was also brown by the way. Next was my crabcake sandwich. I was eating it and trying to finish it but honestly, it was just grossing me out so I stopped. The fries were also terrible and soggy. I had one drink and then I started to drink my second drink when all of a sudden I started to feel very sick. I asked the waiter for my check, paid, and immediately called an Uber to go home. (I didn't even get to watch the fight!) As soon as I got home, I started throwing up. Then throughout the night (TMI sorry) but it was coming out of both ends. I spent $100 to feel like shit. It's the day after and I still haven't even been able to eat anything because I'm so sick and nauseous. I had to type this using voice to text cause I'm so weak. I don't like to completely drag a business without saying something positive so I will say the drinks were good. But if Kanvas has no haters I'm dead. Edit: it's been days and my stomach is still not right. I have never had food poisoning this bad. I just threw up all over my bathroom and have to call out tomorrow to go to the doctor bc I'm genuinely concerned. Do not eat here if it's the last restaurant on earth. I have not received a reach out nor an apology.

Chrissy P.

Yelp
Super chill, super vibes place... there's music playing upstairs and downstairs and both have different vibes! The uniforms are cute, it makes me wonder what they will wear in the winter though.. The service was cool, nobody was mean or made me feel uncomfortable. The food was okay, not bad or not good.. just okay. I'm guessing because it's a sports bar, they do have a nice sized menu.. so you should find something to eat.

Yelp
I was excited to visit Canvas since I heard a ton of good things about the food at the other restaurant that has the same owner. As soon as I walked in I was completely turned off the the extremely offensive smell which reminded me of a sewage issue. We got wings, a stuffed baked potato and a side of brussel sprouts and all of the food was delicious. Our servers were wonderful and attentive, and the food came out hot and quick. Besides the smell, it was a good experience.

Yelp
Upon entering KANVAS Sports + Social, the ambiance was aesthetically pleasing. However, despite sitting at the bar, it took a while for anyone to help us, which was disappointing. I ordered a Casamigos margarita specifically expecting it to come in the branded container, but instead, it was served in a plastic cup--not what I was looking forward to. My wife ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, but unfortunately, the seasoning and topping completely overpowered the oysters, which made the dish less enjoyable. The seating at the bar was the worst part of the experience. The stools were so uncomfortable that I ended up with Ischial Bursitis the next day. It's a real issue they should address for anyone who plans to stay longer than a few minutes. On the plus side, the lemon pepper wings were crispy and well-seasoned, and we got to enjoy watching the Longhorns win. However, there was a bartender shift change, and we were left waiting for 15-20 minutes just to get our check. Had we been dishonest, we could have easily walked out without paying. Management needs to keep better tabs on the staff to ensure that customers aren't left unattended for that long. Overall, the food had some highlights, but the service and comfort really detracted from the experience.

Yelp
Place is nice and staff / servers are friendly. But the food is horrible. Considering how good Kevin Kelley's Kitchen & Kocktails restaurant is, I expected nothing less for this restaurant. However, food was nasty or too salty / over seasoned. I ordered multiple things to try. Thank goodness I did because I only ate 1 of 4 things ordered. I will NOT be back. And prices are way too high for a menu that's full of burgers, hot dogs and pizzas. Ridiculous. I'll stick to the amazing food that's ALWAYS good at kitchen & Kocktails. Maybe have that chef divide his time between the two restaurants. 2 stars for location and service. 1 star for food.

Yelp
Went in on a Saturday night to catch some pre-season football. I've seen the ads on instagram and I was an early fan of Kitchen and Kocktails so I wanted to check this place out. I'm not extremely familiar with Deep Ellum but it seemed like a party/bar community and this fit right in. The place is huge, 2 bars and a rooftop area. Parking can be a hassle on the weekends. There is a paid lot on the corner but it's relatively small and metered parking on the street. I didn't have a reservation and I got seated fairly quickly. There are TV's everywhere and if you are seated in the bar closest to the parking lot you can hear the music being played next door in the main bar area. The staff was friendly, and my waiter did a good job for the most part considering it was a full house. The food didn't take extremely long to come out. I did ask if the lemon pepper was dry or wet on the shrimp and was informed it was dry. That was NOT the case. The shrimp was HEAVILY doused in the lemon pepper seasoning, extremely salty... even a cocktail sauce bath couldn't make it edible. The shrimp would've been much better plain in my opinion. The waiter did drop the ball initially (very minor) but I had no steak knife, salt or pepper, or condiments. I asked and he brought them out promptly so kudos. The fries desperately needed salt and pepper and in regards to the steak, I asked for it medium and it was perfectly cooked. I just was not a fan of the flavor. It missed the mark to me. The glaze was bland and not a hint of sweetness. It's a preference thing and it was high on mine. The waiter took both items off my bill as I didn't eat much of it. There is automatic 20% gratuity included on your ticket even for a party of one. I tip 20% so it's not an issue for me however it wasn't made clear in the beginning. I don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to that but the atmosphere was very energetic and my god there were beautiful women laughing and smiling everywhere you turned. (Both staff and patrons) It could be a fun outing for a group, singles, and those who drink for sure. My meal left a lot to be desired. Factor in the $19 parking fee, relatively avg tasting food, and the fact that it's 30 mins from my house, I probably won't be returning. If you are just looking for a very well decorated establishment and dope vibes, you'll throughly enjoy yourself!

Yelp
If I could give it zero stars, I would... I went to Kanvas on a Sunday afternoon for a friend's bday brunch. Upon arrival, the table was ready and I was sat immediately. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I ordered a frozen mango Casamigos Margarita with a Tajin rim. It was really good! To eat, I order the crab cake sandwich entree. It came with fries but I wanted to substitute them for Brussel sprouts. I was told there were no subs and I would have to pay for the extra side, which was fine. SN: How are you offering brunch but there's only 5 "brunch items" on the menu? And all the items are like a la carte. It's weird. Anywho... Another friend arrived and ordered about 30 minutes after I did, his food was the first to come out. Next, about 45 minutes later, my other 2 friends' entrees came out. An hour goes by, and I am the only one sitting at the table without food. There was no apology or recognition of what the hold up was. So I asked the waitress what was going on, she said the kitchen was backed up. But I ordered AN HOUR AGO and it wasn't even busy then. The food finally came out almost 1.5 hours later and I sent it back because at that point the entire party had eaten and I really was just over it. Waiting 30, 45 and over an hour for food is insane. They comp'd the frozen marg and I didn't have to pay for the food. But it's the principle... the staff had NO regard for my dissatisfaction at all. They didn't ask any questions or even attempt to "make it right". 2/10 do not recommend... ‍

Yelp
Let me start off by saying the food is amazing' hands down . Well seasoned and nice portion size. I'm giving 4 stars due to they charge a 20% gratuity and that's if you get seated at a table and that's not told to you when placing your order. If you sit at the bar it's not gratuity added not sure what's the difference. The server we had wasn't the best being that he automatically gets his tip. We had to flag him down couple of times for refills . I feel like it takes the service away knowing that they are going to get it anyways. I'm a tipper however, I feel you have to earn your tip. Other than that it's a gem you won't be disappointed food is Excellent. We also had the crab eggs rolls I forgot to take a picture but they were amazing also! Pricey absolutely limited side items with substitutions not good maybe they will work that out in the future. It's a new business so some tweaking could do .

Yelp
I wanted to rate this place so much higher. I really did. So disappointing. I met the owner from Kitchen + Kocktails and he was so kind and left a good impression on me and my husband. For the food to really be great and the ambiance to be such a vibe, it literally took 55 minutes to get our food. I know today only marks week 2 since they've opened, but they definitely should've hired more staff. More cooks or something because I have no idea what took so long. Yes it was busy, but this was so out of line. To be honest I'm not sure if I would return, but it would have to be when they have their ish together cuz this ain't it. Anyways, we had the meatballs and the Philly cheese steak rolls, and shared a chicken sandwich. Appetizers 9/10, the sandwich 5/10. It had entirely too much sauce on it to the point I couldn't taste the chicken at all. I sent it back. I asked for ranch on the side for my fries and the ranch had no herbs in it. It only tasted like straight buttermilk. A true disappointment. Edit: I had to edit my review now that I received my check!!!! To top it off we were only a party of 2 and they added a 20% "service charge" fuccccccc this! Never coming back!

Chanel B.

Yelp
I have visited here about 3 times. Each and every-time my drink was well made! The Brussel sprouts are good as well. Prices are a little high but hey what isn't now a days.

Haley F.

Yelp
5 stars for the drinks. We got the peach and watermelon frozen margaritas. SOOO GOOOD. They were super fruity, sweet, and frozen like a perfectly blended slushy. (My ideal margarita!) The watermelon reminded me of candy (think watermelon jolly rancher)! 3 stars for the food. Nothing to rave about it, but It'll get the job done. One grievance: my mom ordered a hot dog and it looked nothing like the picture. We sent it back and the chef came out to try to make it right (which we appreciated!) In conclusion, I 10/10 would recommend coming here for the drinks and vibe. I absolutely do not recommend coming here specifically for a meal. And honestly, that makes sense! It's a sports and social bar.

A C.

Yelp
Once again I enjoyed my food and drink. This time I tried the fried apple dumplings and they are must try. They bring it with ice cream. I tried the loaded baked potato and it had a little kick to it. My friend tried the spicy rigatoni and said she would purchase it again.

Keyona D.

Yelp
Came to Kanvas for a quick drink last night. That frozen margarita was so terrible. I couldn't even drink it. I wanted to complain but the bartender was very busy. The shot was okay.

Tiffany B.

Yelp
THIS PLACE WAS DELICIOUS. We all ordered something different. Chef Lance came to our table and made accommodations for our folks with restrictions. He made the visit very pleasurable. Great personality and very accomodating. Didn't get a picture of the wings but the Whiskey Teriyaki WERE FIRE!! Highly recommend trying. Niriam was the hostess. She had better costumer service than our waiter so I need to give her a shout out!

Beryl D.

Yelp
Absolutely was not impressed. I felt policed coming in as they confiscated my gift to a friend, which was a bottle of wine. Clearly, it's a gift and how is it going to be opened with a corkscrew? They were trying to make me walk back to my car to put it in the car but I asked them to hold it instead because if I went back to my car, I wasn't returning. The food and drinks, as I expected, were overpriced and my to go order was completely wrong. There was no way to get in touch with the business for them to address, so I ended up disputing the charge with my bank. I tried, truly I did, but they delivered as I expected. I don't recommend.

Zeronda S.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday with my cousin at KANVAS. This review would have received 5 stars if the tables were not cheap and wobbly, and the chairs not had food in them. The drinks and food were delicious. I enjoyed every that we ordered. I was celebrating my birthday. See review below: PROS: *Drinks were delicious! I had a popsicle champagne drink and the strawberry lemon drop both were perfectly delicious! *Parmesan oysters were perfection and seasoned just right. *Cheesesteak egg rolls were fire! I could have eaten every last one. *The doughnut brunch sandwich was EVERYTHING you thought it should be - The doughnut is fresh and hot, egg, bacon and sausage so good!! CONS: *There isn't enough street parking so you have to park in the paid parking lot at $17.33!!!! What a ripoff for 2 hours!!! *Wobbly tables!!! *Dirty chairs *Half naked waitresses *Entrance is not clearly marked

Terrance G.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon. This is the same location Harlowe used to be at. I was pleasantly surprised at the way they changed it. It definitely feels more upscale and a good vibe. They have a large menu with a variety of drinks and foods. They offer 4 different types of old fashioneds and the bartenders are cool and make the drinks well ask for Peyton and eurely. Apparently you need reservations though to go here, but they allow people in at the bar throughout the day. If it wasn't for the random reservations and lack of choosing where to sit at the bar, they walk you to your area with no reservation, i would have given more stars.

Amy A.

Yelp
I didn't look at reviews before coming here; I joined a group for a watch party. We were a small group of friends (5) in the main dining room. I arrived after my friends had eaten. There was a tap water bottle on the table, but the waitress never brought me a glass. I ordered a beer (only canned available). About 10 minutes later, I ordered a cheeseburger, which comes with a side of fries. I don't mind paying for quality, but getting a half-ounce patty on a bun for $19 is ridiculous. When the waitress came over and asked if everything was okay, I mentioned that the burger was missing lettuce and condiments. She said it should have come with lettuce and tomatoes and promised to bring ketchup and mayo. The runner made two rounds around the restaurant looking for our table to drop off the lettuce and tomatoes. Five minutes later, he dropped off the ketchup. Twenty minutes passed, and I still had no mayo. Thirty minutes later, I still hadn't received my beer. Another waitress came over, and I explained the issues. She offered to bring the mayo, but by then the burger was cold, so I politely declined. She offered to remake it, but again, I declined. She also said she would send a manager to the table, after waiting 10mins I left to the watch party in a different room. The bartenders there weren't the best but at least I was served in a timely manner. I understand that it's a new place, but not getting a glass to pour myself water is unacceptable. I left thirsty and hungry and went down the street to a better spot.

Trinity M.

Yelp
Because of the fact that they are so new, I want to give some grace. The bartender we had was very sweet, she was very prompt and her drinks were truly delicious. Now, let's get real. This location used to be a staple in Deep Ellum as it was previously Harlowe. Harlowe's rooftop was open, seating and bar wise, dances were had and food was delicious and reasonably priced. Kanvas, on the complete other side of the spectrum, is not using its location for the best. The food is insanely expensive and it took over an hour to come out. You can only move around the restaurant if you're seated outside or upstairs which takes away the benefit of being outside in Deep Ellum's prime location. Music was horrible, and it was way too busy behind the bar. I hope that this location can make some changes to allow for visitors and Dallasites to enjoy.

Monisola A.

Yelp
Our party came here after a mavs game. We left due to the smell of the establishment. It smelled like sewer water. But it decorated nicely!

Chelsea W.

Yelp
my friend and I went for football Sunday and the atmosphere was cool. We didn't sit on the rooftop because it was really busy and we wanted to get food. The crabcake sandwich was amazing. I would go back just for that sandwich. Despite it being super busy, and people being everywhere our bartender was cool and made sure we were taken care of. If anything, the other guests made it less enjoyable. I would give this place another try.

Todd S.

Yelp
A 3pm visit for football Sunday proved to be terrible. Reservations for 4, so there was no wait to be seated. However, it went downhill fast from there. Two appetizers were ordered and they came out split by about 20 minutes. Drink service on the first round was horribly delayed and we only received a single follow-up for a refill in a two and a half hour visit. The wait to order food wasn't too bad but they were out of many meats for pizza and we didn't receive all our food together. The first plate came out after a long wait, and the other three meals trailed until all food was finally on the table after an hour or more. With the extremely high pricing of food and drinks and the horrible service, it's an expensive disaster. $250 for 4 to have wings, burgers, cheese steak sandwiches, and a couple of drinks each.

Denasha H.

Yelp
The food was so bad! The service was decent but they would forget little stuff. The drinks were good

Shan W.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday had a reservation still waited 20 mins, no issue but once our server finally came over we placed our order 30 mins later for our lemonade and an hour later was told there was no steak for the nacho. Told we could t order oysters unless we did the platter and it only comes with 6 and we couldn't select the flavor. The wings were decent but it was just a ridiculous amount of time and the server just had no sense of urgency or customer service. Place is decent inside able to watch the game / loud music but I wouldn't return based on the wait time to find out they didnt have whay we wanted, I could have placed an order for something else. Unfortunate we ate our wings and left to eat somewhere else.

Rob H.

Yelp
I really wasn't gonna write this review because I love to support "my people" but this spot is "very mid". I guess I had my hopes up because of the marketing. They have one hell of a marketing team because I didn't see anything I see on Instagram. The dining area is small as hell. Had a reservation for 5 and didn't even want to sit in the dining area. It's only like 10 tables and looked cramped. So then I was thinking where is all the TVs I heard they have. We were there to watch the game. They took us to an another small bar not connected to the dining area and it was only a round bar. Cramped in there too. Then onward to the patio. Another let down. They tried to sell me a table for $300 and said all tables are "sections". So we went to the bar upstairs and bartender (thanks to him) told us the tall tables were open seating. Ordered food. Wings were good but small as hell. Like tiny wings. Egg rolls were mid. It just wasn't a good experience. I add this to my list of places I've been too that were "okay" but I won't go back. If you're still wondering I guess it's worth a try but you probably won't go back either. ‍

Yelp
If your looking for a great deep ellum spot Kanvas is your place it offers a great mix of upscale bar food and a chic rooftop vibe. The standout of my visit was the excellent service from Ashley, who made our experience feel personal and effortless. My new favorite drink I ordered was the 1942 frozen margarita it was so smooth and refreshing. Ill definitely be coming back! Yelp
Can't speak on the food or service as they did not even let me in. Apparently this place has a dress code that no one knows about. I went on a Saturday around 4-5pm and wasn't not allowed entry cause my arm area in my shirt was cut too low and I had on sandals. I swear some of these place in Deep Ellum makes up the dumbest rules. Who has a dress code for the rooftop OUTSIDE during the day?!

Simone P.

Yelp
I have so many mixed feelings about Kanvas. The service was superrrr slow with food and drinks, however the Philly cheese steak, wings and truffle fries were amazing!!! Again this is bar food so expect that quality but I would definitely go back for any of those items. The ambiance is very nice looking in all 3 sections however downstairs where their main seating is, smells like sewer. Upstairs is definitely the move if you find seating

Natalia J.

Yelp
As a Yelp Elite member who loves supporting new businesses, I'm deeply disappointed by my experience at this new establishment's soft opening. I always research a location before visiting, and I found an announcement stating that their rooftop would be open to the public without a reservation. However, when we arrived, the bouncer informed us that entry was by RSVP only. This inconsistency left me feeling unwelcome and misinformed. I can't tell you about the ambiance or the food because we never made it inside. It was especially frustrating because people were leaving after watching the finals, and the place was not packed. There was more than enough room on the patio and rooftop areas outside. I truly hope the management can address these issues, as it's disheartening to support a place that seems to operate with prejudice and misinformation.

Yelp
Arrived for my reservation to be told that they were booked and I had to be seated outside even though indoors was empty. I was 5 minutes early for my reservation and they couldn't seat me inside until other reservations showed up. 5 minutes later, they said I could be seated. It was hot inside and flies everywhere. Food was OK. Drinks were overpriced. ~$25 It took 30 minutes to get our first drinks and when we ordered our 2nd drinks, an hour went by and still nothing. Mind you, we ordered canned beers this time. It was Game 4 of Playoffs and it was a "Watch Party" but TV's had NO SOUND & kept losing signal completely. Ended up leaving to go to Rodeo! 10/10 will be recommending.

Yelp
They had four different spaces--three outside and one inside. The hostess was super nice showed us the options and wasn't pushy. Three spaces downstairs. One upstairs. We had to work to flag down a server to get our order in--we were sitting about 10-12 minutes before we could get someone's attention but after the young man was very attentive and nice. The young lady servers were borderline rude. They ignored several patrons that were trying to get service and information. It was like they did not want to engage anyone that they did not want to engage anyone except who they wanted to. That was quite a turn off. The DJ played an over abundance of Drake and that was a turn off for me and my party as there are a myriad of artists that aren't like him-- but otherwise a decent experience. Highly recommend the frozen casa amigos margs. The peach mixed with mango was fantastic and very strong!

Yelp
Totally enjoy the food menu they had to offer, I personally fell in love with their fancy cocktails especially the champagne popsicle drink which was my favorite. Overall the experience was delightful and the service was top tier as their staff consistently made sure our party and table was up to our satisfaction.

Yelp
We visited on a Saturday mid day and sat in the main dining side. I had reservations, but it wasn't really needed. Our waitress was friendly. The garlic Parmesan oysters were good but not the best. We ordered the queso without meat and the cheese tasted like it was bad, very bitter and gritty. It was removed from our bill without hesitation. I ordered the crabcake sandwich and it was an abundance of crab!!! (I doctored my crabcake sandwich it doesn't come with cheese or onions) only thing I wish is they would use a different bun like a brioche maybe. It was too thick. The truffle fries were good. My partner had shrimp and chicken nachos and they were good. My only real complaint is the brunch menu. They may as well not have brunch. It is just pancakes, meat, and eggs. I would go to Kitchen and Kocktails for brunch. It's still new so it may change soon. Overall it was cool.

Yelp
Went for the 1st time since they changed from Harlowe, I LOVED Harlowe but noowww Kanvas has EXTREMELY slow service and Weak WEAK drinks, my vodka soda was 11.00 to taste all soda so needless to say I only had 1 , thennnnnn the 20.00 wings were a JOKE! So tiny and had a puddle of grease at the bottom of them which was nasty! The place itself is nice looking but I do not recommend

Yelp
This is a great place for an event. The location is not very safe. I did not try the food but I was told it was great. The service staff and drinks were good. The staff were helpful. The ambiance is great. The elevator was not working which is a hassle.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my experience at Kanvas. If you've been to Kitchen and Kocktails you know you can expect great tasting food at a reasonable price. (This is not for people wanting good food at Cheddar's price) The place is huge. They have inside (downstairs) as well as rooftop upstairs with sooo much space. We reserved rooftop space and enjoyed ourselves so much. Live music, awesome service, great food. I had the crab egg rolls which were stuffed with sooo much crab it was ridiculous (in a good way of course). The sauce was perfect combination and the portions were full. A couple of people in our group had Philly cheesesteak, spicy chicken sandwich and crab cake sandwich. Every single person raved about how delicious their food was. Even the fries were seasoned with flavor. Our waitress checked on us often, kept our water and drinks flowing, our food came out quickly, we even ordered food to go for later and they simply did not miss a step. 20% gratuity was included in our party of six but I had to double it because everything was so on point. I've read some of the other reviews and can only assume maybe they came on a super busy day because when we were there 7/27 I saw so many staff moving around and everyone was so super friendly. This place is off to a great start and I can't wait to come back. No matter the vibe, chillin, quick bite with a date, group outing, etc the simple food yet elevated flavor will be a go to for me. With so many places popping up in Dallas it's nice to see owners putting so much effort into making sure it's done right.

Yelp
Honestly, I was excited to eat and drink here and support a Black owned business. EVERYTHING needs work. The staff are not friendly nor do they understand the concept of customer service. Ex 1. We got "tickets" to come and presented our tickets. The host said that upstairs was first come first serve, which was no problem. We asked if we could sit outside. She said there was a wait. Again, no problem. Time came and they said a reservation from AN HOUR AGO showed up, but we can sit inside. Okay, that works too. Ex 2. I ordered the Kanvas Potato, which started out great. I then noticed onions in it and I don't like onions. They weren't listed on the item. I asked our server and he said yes that they were mixed in. I said that should be stated on the menu. He didn't really say much. I told him I was done, had not eaten much of my item. He didn't offer another option or anything. Our appetizers came out with our food. It could about 30 minutes to get a drink. Our server didn't come back to ask how was everything. They seem more worried about the aesthetic instead of the service and quality of the food. The shrimp was probably the best thing. Everything else was just ok. All in all, I will not be back unless they make some changes.

Yelp
The ambiance was a total vibe but the food was horrible. I ordered the burger and fries; like how can you mess up a burger and fries, right??? They did. First of all, they don't have pickles and my fries were cold. The burger was extremely dry and had 2 pieces of the driest and hardest brisket I've ever had. I asked for mustard several times and it still never came. The fries taste like they sat in the freezer for 10 years and just didn't taste good at all; even though the presentation was nice. I thought I would try something else and decided to order the cheesesteak eggrolls and once again, I was disappointed. Probably won't return; if so, it would just be for the ambiance

Yelp
Well what can I say?!? A time with KJ is ALWAYS a great time. Such an awesome bartender and very knowledgeable! I've been in here four times, three times I had him and I was very satisfied.. the one time I didn't have him, the vibe was just ok

Yelp
There was no seating available in the dining room, so we were told we could sit and order on the rooftop, where there were no reserved signs. We found a table, but someone approached us and said the table required a $300 minimum. We explained that we only wanted food and a couple of drinks and were told we could move to the other side without the $300 minimum. After moving, we sat for over 15 minutes without service, so we had to find someone to ask how to place our order. When a server finally arrived, the first thing she told us was that we might have to move if someone reserved the table. This was frustrating, as paying customers shouldn't be disrupted like this. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks. While the drinks arrived first, we were left waiting for our food, and no one came to check on us. When the food finally arrived, it was missing the items we requested, and we had no silverware. After waiting for a bit, we flagged down someone bussing tables, who brought us silverware but mentioned they couldn't find our server. Eventually, the server returned, and we asked for condiments. Another staff member brought them and, when I asked about the ranch dressing, simply replied, "I don't know," and walked away. Our server then came back while we were still eating to tell us she needed to close out the tab because it was a day party and we had already ordered food. We said okay and requested another round of drinks. She asked for payment without giving us an itemized receipt, so I had the receipt emailed and left a $5 tip because, at this point, we had to request everything ourselves, and no one checked in to see if we were enjoying the food or needed anything else. The wings were incredibly salty. We finished eating and didn't receive our drinks for another 10 minutes. When the server finally came back with one drink, she dropped it off and walked away without returning, even though we had ordered two drinks. Upon checking the emailed receipt, I saw only one drink had been charged, and a 20% gratuity was automatically added for a party of two, which was absurd given the poor service. While the atmosphere was pleasant, the service was terrible. Based on this first experience, I can confidently say I would not recommend or return to this establishment.

Yelp
I got the guacamole with chips and burger. Both were great. I would recommend trying them. Service was wonderful and the server was very attentive. I plan to return.

Yelp
Love love love absolutely everything about Kanvas! Let's start with the ambiance: THE AMBIANCE: the aesthetically pleasing visuals at the bar were beautiful and if your a sports fan you have a swanky spot that ladies would enjoy too, as a bonus when you walk in you're taken to an exotic European destination. 5 stars for the ambiance! THE FOOD: I'm vegan and I often have a challenge finding tasty food that is more than just a salad. So 5 stars for the delicious food! The SERVICE: all the young ladies were super sweet and very accommodating. Can't wait to bring my fiancé here!

Yelp
Will be back! Love the vibe. Food and drinks were excellent. I had the buffalo wings, watermelon feta salad, and the Casamigos frozen margarita on the rooftop. Definitely recommend
