Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel

We returned to Taiwan after 10 months and chose to stay at the Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel once again. I am happy to say it was just as wonderful as our previous visit. The standout feature here is the exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, the concierge and bellboys were incredibly helpful, and the reception staff made our check-in seamless. Housekeeping also deserves a special mention for being so thorough. Our room was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The facilities are top-tier. The breakfast buffet is delicious with a great variety of options to start the day. We also spent a lot of time at the pool and spa, which were very well-maintained. Our little one enjoyed his pool time as always. It’s a perfect spot for families. The only minor downsides we experienced were a lack of a clothesline in the room for drying wet swimwear and the centralized air conditioning system, which didn't allow us to control the temperature individually. Despite these small points, the quality of service and the cleanliness of the hotel keep us coming back. We look forward to our next stay!

An international brand that feels very locally managed, resulting in inconsistent service and a noticeable gap from Marriott standards. Check-in staff incorrectly told me there was no dining discount for status holders; I later found out at the restaurant that a 10% discount does apply. The Executive Lounge functions more like a crowded restaurant — busy, noisy, not relaxing, and food quality is poor. Positives: the room is large, bed is comfortable, high floors offer great views, and housekeeping was excellent throughout our 6-night stay. Nobody noticed us, if no issues then there'll be no interaction with people at all. Turn-down service appeared only on one evening during our entire stay, so it’s unclear whether this is a consistent offering. Negatives: no amenities provided; when I requested a shaving kit, I was asked to pay NTD 15. While I understand the government initiative, the execution feels more like a revenue exercise and is inconvenient for guests. The hotel caters heavily to large tour groups and group diners. Lifts can get slow, restaurants are packed, and the lobby feels like a marketplace. It's just a very noisy place that'll give you anxiety. Hotel staff - concierge, front desk, rarely greet guests or make eye contact — apart from the Executive Lounge and health club reception, where staff needed my room number for entry. This is a functional hotel, if you're a status holder, don't expect the same level of Marriott service.

Spent 6 nights in Marriott Kaohsiung. Overall a good stay but can be improved. I was considering two other hotels before taking a chance on Marriott Kaohsiung. Firstly, lower your expectation on their Kids Club (it’s nothing compared to the family hotels we have stayed in Hsinchu / Yilan), it’s just an area for free play (blocks and one cooking station) without any staff. Location is conveniently beside gym so parents can drop your kids off and head to the gym (but again, no staff at the Kids Club so do be warned). We stayed in a family room which comes with two double beds. Pillows are soft and we were told they don’t have enough pillows when we requested for two extra pillows (they did provide two smaller hard pillows). Cleaning was done everyday on time but would be so nice if they had cleaned/replaced new glasses/cups as some emptied glasses and cups were intentionally left at a corner for them to change. Water bottles were also replenished everyday and they were not stingy on that! We didn’t have to buy water bottles from convenience stall at all. Overall I would say it’s still within my expectations as a Marriott Bonvoy member. It’s within walking distance to eateries, cafes and convenience shops. Link to E-Sky Mall is also very convenient. Overall Kaohsiung left a negative impression as the people were significantly less friendly compared to other parts of Taiwan (this includes Taipei, their capital city).

Wonderful stay with an amazing breakfast in the lounge! The lounge is kid-friendly, and we’re very glad that it is like in Courtyard by Marriott Taipei. My husband and I needed to take turns going to the lounge. Very nice hotel with amazing facilities. Especially the pool area! The kids enjoyed it a lot. You need to have swimming caps though, so bring one with you. 😂 The spa pool is a must-try!

I recently stayed at Kaohsiung Marriott, and overall, it was an excellent experience — with one surprising exception. The rooms are spacious, well-designed, and comfortable, offering a relaxing retreat after a long day. The spa and gym facilities are impressive, especially the gym which is one of the largest I’ve seen among city hotels in Taiwan. I also appreciated the complimentary yoga class for guests — a thoughtful touch that adds to the wellness experience. The service team deserves full marks — warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. The location is also superb, conveniently linked to a shopping mall, which makes it perfect for rainy days or quick access to dining and shops. However, the breakfast was quite disappointing, especially considering the otherwise high standards of the property and Marriott brand. Despite many positive reviews online, I found most of the hot dishes either undercooked or cold — even the porridge. Some items, like buns, appeared to be frozen products rather than freshly made. The yogurt and fruit section was the only reliably good part of the buffet. As a frequent traveler and Marriott member, I was genuinely surprised by this inconsistency. Everything else about the stay was wonderful, but I would book the room without breakfast next time.

The standout star is Antony Chiu, the concierge asst manager, who was most helpful, friendly and recommended excellent places to visit including the best transport options.||We arrived from Taichung late morning for a one night stay. As Titanium member, we could extend checkout till 4pm the next day.||Given the short period available, we covered Dragon/Tiger pagoda, Cijin Island incl the sunset bar, museums, harbour and the piers attractions, thanks to Antony.|He is the perfect ambassador for Marriott and the staff should emulate his attitude. Staff generally not so friendly and appear cold.||We had access to M Club for happy hours and breakfast. Surprisingly breakfast at the main coffee house was chargeable.||The suite was comfortable, clean and spacious.

I have stayed at many Marriott properties worldwide, and while the Marriott Kaohsiung offers excellent facilities — particularly its spa and gym, which are among the best I’ve seen — the service quality leaves much to be desired. During my first extended stay of over 90 consecutive days, the staff’s lack of attentiveness was evident. Despite frequent feedback from me and my colleagues, the takeaway breakfast remained unchanged and consistently mediocre. On my final day, I checked out around 4 PM but had a train at 8 PM. When I asked if I could wait in the lounge (as a Titanium Elite member), I was told I could sit but not have anything from the happy hour buffet — even though I had no intention of eating. The response was unnecessarily rigid and left a poor impression, especially after such a long stay. On my second visit, I held Ambassador Elite status, yet the experience was no better. Due to fluctuating room rates, I had to make three separate bookings for the same stay. I requested to remain in the same room to avoid the inconvenience of checking in and out repeatedly, but the hotel refused to accommodate this simple request. Apart from a small bottle of wine as a welcome gift, there was no real recognition of elite status — no upgrade, no flexibility, and no personal touch. In contrast, my subsequent stay at the AMENIS Hotel in Kaohsiung, which is in a similar price range, was completely different — the staff there were warm, flexible, and genuinely accommodating. Overall, while Marriott Kaohsiung boasts impressive facilities, the service culture urgently needs improvement to meet the standards expected of a Marriott property, especially for loyal Bonvoy members.

We had a great stayed here. The hotel connected to the mall so we got easy access to shop and to eat at the food court. Everyone is friendly, the gave us a card for our anniversary trip and that's all. Kind of weird. We love the spa pool. They have 1 lap pool. And 10 small spa pools heated. So you don't need to be freezing. And they have suana too. We got upgrade to higher room. The view is great. Breakfast is great. Costco also next door. And the train station around the block like other said. We definitely will stay again in the future..we love the spa pools.
