"Before it closed in 2022, it was impossible to get a reservation at Balagan before 10pm. Which, as long as you didn’t mind eating hummus-soaked challah so late, was the most fun time to go anyway. (Shots! DJs!) But now, the team who also run Tékès, Shabour, and Boubalé are back in the same location with the same vibe. What has changed, beyond the name, is the chef—now, the menu infuses Iraqi and Moroccan takes on Israeli cuisine: smoked baba ganoush comes with a bruléed top, and a creamy, carbonara-like “risotto” is made with couscous instead of rice. But the must order is the sabich sandwich, which swaps pita for flaky boreka and comes topped with egg. I had such a great experience here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the fries were crisp and golden. I also tried the grilled meat with fries, and it was seasoned beautifully and tasted authentic, not overly greasy or heavy. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s clear they really care about quality and making sure guests feel comfortable. On top of all that, it’s kosher, so it’s amazing to have a place that delivers great taste while also keeping to high standards. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to again and again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious kosher food that hits the spot!

First time at Kapara and I get the hype! The place has such a welcoming, energetic vibe , you can feel it as soon as you walk in. We tried the wrap and the burger with fries, both really hit the spot. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, and just an all-around great spot if you’re in Thornhill. Definitely coming back 👌

Not my first time here and I don’t normally leave reviews, but the food here is amazing. Always fresh and the staff is really friendly. Couldn’t wait and started eating before the photo. Definitely recommend, best schnitzel sandwich!

Fantastic find! We tried Kapara (take out) for the first time today. It was outstanding - wide selection and options to customize, very tasty food, large portions, fast service and very reasonable pricing for what you get. We'll be ordering again and visiting in person for dinners out. Something for everyone. Highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food in the past. Our recent experience has left much to be desired. We ordered the meat skewer platter. The fries were burnt, oily, and lacked crunch. The meat had a lot of fat and was dry. A real disappointment.

Honestly, this was the worst shnitzel I’ve ever eaten. I got a shnitzel plate from there and it was so dry I could barely swallow and chew it. And for $30? I could’ve eaten my mom shnitzel for free which would’ve been 100x better. I’m truly disappointed by the quality of the food and had to throw it out and make my own meal. The rice also has no flavour or seasoning… I’m confused ? Perhaps the chefs need to top up on their skills! I will NOT BE BACK!!!!!
