I stopped here and ordered the Pan de ube, Chicken tinola soup, Ginataang Bilo Bilo, Apritada, Steamed Rice, and Pork adobo. The tinola was a little spicy. Had a real kick to it. The apritada was good and tender - a bit salty but still good with the carrots and potatoes. The Ginataang was such a nice, little dessert!

I would love to give Kapit Bahay 5 stars. We have been coming here since the early mid-2000s until we moved to Inland Empire. Our last visit this weekend, however, gripped my usual expectations of comforting satisfaction. We got the Corned Beef, Kare², Tinola, and different brands of Hopia. What surprised me was the pugnacious taste of the Corned Beef - it's at the edge of spoilage. Maybe I was just being over reactive so I kept quiet. The Kare-Kare's meat (tripe) were not soft. It was not sufficiently simmered that it could be easily chewed and swallowed, but the sauce and vegies are one thumb up. I hope they simmer the meat longer because this savory dish would end up in the trash. The Chicken Tinola is good. One complain is: there is only 3 very small bite-size pieces in it that the ala carte price would seem too expensive. I wish Kapit Bahay can make the adjustments, bring back the quality.

So earlier this morning I stopped by Kapit Bahay to pick up some breakfast for my wife and son while I was out. When I arrived, it was just me and one other customer there, The trays were full of food it looked promising, I was excited to bring some home for my family. I was initially going to leave a 2-star review, but I changed it to 1 star after finding a strand of hair in our bag, marinating in oil from either the corned beef or pork tocino. The original 2 stars was becaus I was expecting a little more food for spending $28 on x2 2-item combos, at least an egg like other Filipino places. But unfortunately, we received fell short. My wife also mentioned that one of the Longganisas seemed like it was a day old and was inedible. Sadly as well, the older gentleman wasn’t as “neighborly” as the store name suggests. Aside from that, the food tasted okay, but it definitely wasn’t worth $28, both in terms of quantity and quality. I was excited to try this place out since we’re Filipino ourselves and we love a good filipino breakfast but this place honestly was not worth it in my opinion. I also rarely leave reviews, but I was so disappointed in the serving that I ended up going to Red Ribbon to buy extra food just in case 😂. Maybe they had an off morning or something, but I just wanted to share my experience. Thanks for reading! 🤙

Google
To be honest when I walked in, I had a good chilled vibe. Feels a little bit crowded to eat inside needed AC on full blast. I was sweating, but the food was OK not the best but it wasn’t bad either. I wanted to try the Turin so bad but they are small, but it does taste good overall it’s a good place to try once, but I don’t think I will be coming here again.

Kapit Bahay stands out as one of the best Filipino food spots in the area, offering a delightful culinary experience. With its authentic flavors and diverse menu options, the restaurant delivers a fantastic taste of Filipino cuisine that leaves patrons coming back for more.

Google
We go here for homely authentic filipino food, unfortunately many times we got served food that spoiled from sitting there too long! Even the ketchup on the side was served spoiled and tasted sour... just wrong to be serving spoiled food, not just once but a few times...

Noli C.

Google
Usual Pinoy fares. The eating area is crowded with overflowing merchandise resembling the dining room of a hopelessly incurable hoarder. Price wise, it is just the usual Pinoy price point: fried dried fish serving is worth the price of an American burger somewhere else. It stinks but it tastes good comforting the homesickness of the home country. I hope the price is just right.

Google

Yelp
$15 Kare-kare. No meat, only pig insides. How could you charge this much for trash? No flavor of peanut butter, mostly flour and food coloring. Many years ago, it was good. This is unacceptable! Parang pagkain ng baboy. This is what people in the Philippines feed their pigs. Left over from what they didn't sell the day before and dressed as a new dish the next day.

Yelp
I've been going to Kapot Bahai for at least 30 years. Always my go to stop for a quick Filipino meal or snack items. Food is usually very good and the service friendly! I will not be going back... purchased a bag of Tropical Chicharrones and they were noticeably bad. I live in Desert Hot Springs and went to Anaheim the next day for business and returned them. The young lady, I guess the manager/owner, came out, smelled them, and pointed to the sign "all sales are final" really? For food that is definitely bad? That tells me to not buy anything there if they will not stand behind quality of the items they sell. They will get credit for the vendor for that item so it's not a big deal to refund. So this is farewell Kapit Bahay. Too bad you just lost a 30+ year customer. Goodbye Ate! Update... the replacement item that she did give me is bad too!!! Be careful of the grocery products you buy there!!!!!

Yelp
I ordered Large Kare Kare $15.00 full of intestines . I only got 3 small pieces of meat, the meat was mix of beef and pork. Were they left overs that got converted? No peanut flavor. The bagong was weird. Never going back there.

Yelp
Excellent home made Filipino Food. Very nice people and understanding. Great Halo Halo.

Yelp
I was so happy to find a Filipino restaurant nearby. I wanted to like it but it was so disappointing. The adobo didn't look or taste like adobo and everything was so expensive! I spent $45 total for 2 (not so large) entrees and a tiny medium sinigang. I don't think it's Filipinos that make it bc it doesn't taste anything like Filipino. I won't be coming back. And the adobo was so salty! I threw it in the trash

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service and a lot of food products to choose from, like snacks and ingredients.

Yelp
The people who work here are so sweet. There's so many options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any of them. The food was really fresh and flavorful. I want to come here for every meal

Yelp
Amazing ! Love this local gem. Their customer service is topnotch at this Togo Filipino style establishment. Their food all aromatic , flavorful and large portions. I recommend the kare kare, caldereta, pork skewers and pancit.

Yelp
We were looking for a Filipino restaurant on Labor Day and found Kapit Bahay to be open. The reviews were good so we went there. We found food to be turo-turo style where the food is there and you point to the ones you want. The food was good and the prices are reasonable. The cook/owner even comes out to check if everything is ok. Lots of snacks for sale too. We will remember this place for our future trips to SoCal

Yelp
Wow, so disappointed. I wanted to support this Filipino store but seriously? Ordered longanisa (2 small pieces) and lumpia (she said one order was 6 pcs but she was nice and gave me 7). Then she charges me $13.50 because she considers that a 2-entree item! Didn't even get any rice!Probably not going to come back.

Mike G.

Yelp
HORRIBLY STINGY PORTIONS! For many years, we've always ordered their catered BBQ sticks because they ARE honestly good! These past 3 times (even after requesting more meat to be placed onto the sticks!) we received SEVERAL sticks that were LITERALLY 3 INCHES of meat on them...2 bites worth! Ha! They used to be fair with their portions. Sadly that is not the case anymore. Time to order from somewhere else.

J O.

Yelp
Service was great along with the food! Whoever served asked what we wanted and took time to explain ingredients since I mainly spoke English. Food is well prepared. If you want fresh food go there early; similar to bakeries are inventory gets lower throughout the day. Call ahead for fresh Shanghai lumpia..they made it with 35min when had a last minute dinner craving.

J T.

Yelp
Kapit Bahay is a big disappointment. I'm surprised that they manage to stay in business. the food is expensive, the portions are small and some of the items tasted and looked like they were prepared and reheated from the day or a few days before. the XL ginataan bilo bilo ( a coconut cream dessert ) is $23.90. 25 pieces of shanghai lumpia is $22.50 which makes it almost $1 a piece ! the meat in the menudo and caldereta is tough and should have been simmered longer to make them softer. the taro root in the bilo bilo was not cooked fully and hard. if you need paper plates for take out order, they charge 25 cents per piece. like what a previous poster here said, they charge 50 cents transaction fee for debit card payment. I repeat: it's DEBIT card, not credit card which does not carry bank fees. I hope another Filipino restaurant will take over this place. this restaurant is a rip off and offers substandard food preparation. stay away !

Yelp
This place is wonderful for quick Filipino food to-gos. The set-up is cafeteria style where the dishes are freshly pre-made in chafing trays, all you have to do is point which ones you're buying and they'll scoop up and pack it for you. The place looks crowded as one area is the cafeteria and the other section is a combination of grocery shelves and dining area, but still a great hole in the wall in this part of Orange County for Filipino goods and meals. I come here for my classic favorites - Lechon Kawali, Lumpiang Shanghai and Kare Kare. I ordered 2 trays of lumpia for our office Christmas potluck 50 pcs is $28.50 and 25 pcs is $15. They allow over-the-phone orders where they would send you a text link of an invoice and you can pay online before pick-up. The people there are friendly too.

Yelp
Best "chicheria" (snack) stand! Whoever is their purchaser is doing an excellent job! There are limited shelves and shelf space and every inch is covered with popular items. There are only a handful of pork rinds... and they were the popular ones! There are a few tables for you to enjoy their "turo turo" foods. Literally translates to "point point" where you go down a cafeteria style line and point to the food you want on your 1- or 2-item plate. They have a perfectly sized Halo Halo, translates to Mix Mix, a dessert made of shaved ice, milk, ice cream scoop, sweet beans, preserved coconuts, nata de coco, jack fruit, caramelized plantains etc. Kapit Bahay is in a super large shopping center with free parking in the lot. By the way, I found the old White Rabbit candy complete with rice paper.

Yelp
I was going to another place when i came across this place and tried it. Waited before i could try the food before posting the review. Its a small place that's a point-point (turo-turo) style. they have grocery items and cooked food in the same place. they have a long table that you can sit in and enjoy your food. they also have tables outside. Didn't really go around much but bought the 2 meal version. Everything looked good and freshly made. I ordered binagoongan and longganisa. Both are equally good and tender. I should've picked more meat for later but i had to try it first. The only thing thst i didn't enjoy is the turon. It's a bit hard. Price is fair and portions are decent considering prices are already super high but over all, i will be back.

Yelp
I noticed this little market/restaurant has been here for years and I finally tried it with a friend. The food here is "like what a Filipino aunty would make" - according to my friend who loves Filipino comfort food. My favorite item would be the lechon - crispy and fatty pork. My least favorite was the jackfruit and shrimp paste because it was (Pepto Bismol) pink and I believe it has an acquired taste. I have never eat jackfruit warm and pickled, so it was surprisingly different. Everything else was good and the flavors of each item compliment the other items. I also forgot to choose traditional Chicken Adobo (a more popular item), so maybe next visit.

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday and my wife's birthday together. We shopped around and also looked at the reviews on Yelp. We decided on Kapit Bahay since we have always enjoyed their Filipino food . We spoke to Lisa who helped us select our entrees and how much to order since we were expecting over 200 people. Lisa was very polite and very helpful. Kapit Bahay normally doesn't deliver but we asked if they could and since our order was big they delivered to the place of our event. The food was delivered on time and neatly prepared. Our guests enjoyed the food and were asking where we got the food from . Thank you Lisa and Kapit Bahay .

Yelp
Everything's is good, food is good. Lots of items from Asia are available. Pruces are on the high side. Prices on items nowhere to be found. There is no transparency. FYI - Halo- Halo $5.99 Special Halo-Halo $6.95. I'm not sure if the prices are infladed or not. But i coild not afford. All come down to 4 STARS. AS is checking out and using debit card THEY CHARGING $.50. The prices are already high. I don't see anywhere else businesses charging for the use of a debit card.

Yelp
I really really love the lumpia here! I enjoy how they have a sitting place to eat in the whole store. Its in the middle and it gives you a chance to buy snacks and dessert before you leave. You are able to buy almost anything here, they have something for everyone. The reason for my less star was we had a lady help us and she wasn't too nice. I felt she was a bit rude when we asked about certain items as we are not Filipino. So of course its human nature to ask what things are! Anyhow there was a younger young lady and she was super helpful, she did not mind our questions. We both two combo B that had rice/noodles with beef adobo, sweet red sausage and chicken on a stick. We also got the corn beef hash and it was really good too. I think if you are open to trying out new things, stop by and at least get the lumpias!!
google avatar

Yelp
The people were very friendly and the food is delicious! Their sari-sari options were abundant. Good place to get something fast! My Dad loved going here.

BJ S.

Yelp
Waited for 5 minutes for someone to take my order. Caught eyes with 3 employees. Dirty looks. No one came to help me. There was no one in line by the way. The last straw when when "Real Filipinos" left, the staff was all warm and friendly. Only other Fil-ams will understand this spidey-sense feeling you get when elders don't like your American accent (they must have heard me on the phone). So I left too and of course they said nothing to me. I guess I'm not Filipino enough because I was born in the U.S. Too bad, all I wanted was some pork adobo.
google avatar

Yelp
We picked up food after 5pm the other day. The Kare-kare smelled bad. The meat and tripe was horrid. It was old and disgusting. The sinegang soup did not taste good either. The meat tasted bad as well. The flavors were not as good as it used to be years ago. We had to throw it all out. What a waste of money. Cheap old meat and ingredients. Health department should check out this place.

Yelp
Taste of Home!!!! Pancit Bihon! Ginataang Gulay! Chicken Barbecue! Turo Turo in California! Chichiryang Pinoy! Visited was Kapit Bahay Filipino Cuisine at 615 N Euclid St, Anaheim, CA 92801. Literally translated - means Neighbor... Ginataang Gulay is a vegetable stew with pork or shrimp cooked in coconut milk. Very tasty and usually is eaten with white rice. Pancit Bihon is a Filipino Rice Noodle Dish. A little trivia... Rice noodles were first introduced to the Philippines by the early Chinese settlers and is usually served at birthdays as the noodles symbolizes long life and good health. Moby!!! These puffs are my favorite. Name it, Jack & Jill potato chips, Chippy, Hansel Biscuits! Kapitbahay has it!!! Come on in! Check out my You Tube Short on KapitBahay @socalweekendwalkarounds https://youtube.com/shorts/uzlRTRI0yKc?feature=share

Yelp
Great service and great food! Staff is very friendly. I grew up going to Filipino restaurants like this, so they get nostalgia points. Service is super fast because the food is already made. You can also call to cater or make bigger orders. My friends always finish the dishes I bring to potluck from Kaput Bahay.
google avatar

Fran P.

Yelp
My 2 item combo was supposed to be $13 but I got 2 extra eggs and that kicked it up to $21.They considered it as a and additional item (billed same as "beef"). My fault I should have asked how much the additional egg was but was not expecting it to be so much of a rip off. I guess the owner wanted the items to be billed that way.
google avatar

Flo M.

Yelp
There is a great selection of snacks, desserts, cooking essentials and more! It was like taking a trip back into childhood. The hot food items also had a great variety to choose from and different menu options from platters, a la carte, and specialty canned drinks. It's great to support local business like this that has quality, authentic Filipino food. We are looking forward to trying out their catering options as well for our next family parties.

Rory Q.

Yelp
The food was really authentic and amazingly delicious. The service was unbeatable and the people were very friendly

Yelp
My wife and I go to this place in the past because it is close to our house. The first time we went we purchased a few items and when we went to pay, the cashier was rude to us. After we left we said we would never go back. It's been about a year and a half since we were there. Yesterday, we went back hoping they had new personnel. We bought a couple different items and some sweets and paid for it (which by the way same poor service and the price is more expensive). We left to take that food to a friend's party. When we arrived at a friends party we opened the sweets and saw a large amount of hairy MOLD on top of the food; it was so embarrassing. Safe to say we won't be coming back.

Yelp
bought today around 9:15 a.,m. 10/24/22 I was very dissaponted because the rice taste like an old leftover rice mixed with old cooked rice and smells bad and Very disgusting taste like a Shiiiiiitttt. Wasting my time and my money. This store should be close or someone inspection all the food they made. Very disturbing taste like throw up. Wasting my time and my Money that I been work hard for it. I was calling them, but no answer it.

Yelp
I saw this Filipino fast food on our way back home. We ordered chicken adobo, kari-kari, fried fish, mung bean soup. We also got their two dish combo which is good. We also bought banana chips and some snacks. We tried all the food it was good. All of us love the chicken adobo, it was very tasty although oily. I just wished they cooked it with less oil so it won't overpower the entire dish. The banana chips was really good. Thin sliced plantain bananas that are well cooked and fried. Not too sweet and not too salty, it was just right. It was around $3, worth of its price. The store was well stocked. The staff were friendly. They have good customer service. They have lots of Filipino snacks even staples you can see inside the store. Overall, they have ample parking. The store is located at a great location. Super clean and they follow COVID protocols. We didn't regret going there and buying our dinner.

Yelp
Fresh egg rolls for Christmas this year. They were open on the 24th and were ready when I was scheduled to pick them up. They have tables to eat in or to go.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
This is s fun Filipino spot. Do not come her for low fat trimmed meats, the food is delicious but not designed for healthy eating, lots of fat. There are some items that are trimmed of the fat. I like the little red sausages and the mini rolled items lumpia. I also like the noodle plates. My family is not a fan so I have to come alone, that being said the place looks like it has seating for 30 in a space made for about 20. Tasty spot!
google avatar

Carizza O.

Yelp
I ordered breakfast catering for an event and they were on point. Longganisa, tocino, eggs and garlic rice were all a hit. We were able to pick up the food earlier than we planned because they are good people like that.

Ramon L.

Yelp
This is the only restaurant I know that charges $0.25 for every extra plate or container. We bought a 2 item combo and I asked or an extra plate since Wifey n I were sharing the meal. He never notified me ahead of time that the extra plate would cost an additional $0.25! And he did not give me a receipt for the transaction until I asked for one. And only then did I notice the extra charge for the extra plate! This Pinoy restaurant is something else. Did you know that they also do not price tag their grocery merchandise? I can only presume that that policy makes it very convenient for them to raise the selling price on items that have been on their shelves since during the Covid pandemic, as often as they want!
google avatar

Maria Theresa L.

Yelp
Best selection of filipino food with very reasonable prices. they also have a wide range of filipino snacks and groceries and also desserts...

Yelp

Yelp
I will make this short.. I have caught the cook try the food and used the same spoon to mix.......... Never again!

Yelp
Reminds me of my childhood. Feels like I'm surrounded by helpful Tita's when I'm am there. Love all the snacks and great for party trays!

Abbygale T.

Yelp
We have been their customer for a long time now, every week we've been getting boxes of food here not sure if they changed ownership. But after the nice mexican lady (who speaks occasional tagalog) does not work there anymore, their service just sucks now. Also they change their to go sizing and pricing. Makes me just wanna go to Barrio Fiesta, cheaper and way more bigger servings. Here you gotta pay double of the Large size for their XL. Anyways, sorry not fan of kapitbahay anymore.

Mica P.

Yelp
Your food tasted nasty u served left over food? Shame on you? The are a lot of outdated snacks and u over charge your items Double shame on you? Looks can be deceiving heat it up warm it up how Ever you wanna call it? Freshness does not meet your standards! So repulsive I am ashamed I could not even take one bite? Regretting not taking a picture

Yelp
Came to visit this place. Every time we come visit L.A We stopped here to get a quick bite. The food was alright it wasn't the best but the people are very friendly. Overall it's recommended.

Sun Realty G.

Yelp
Best place for authentic, filipino cuisines! Lisa is the best help, all the servers are very helpful, masayanhin at madaldal :). Nandito ako 3x or more a week, as my work is only 15 minutes away, will never get tired of this place :). Monggo and jeprox is my fav combo and the lechon...
google avatar

Mel Z.

Yelp
Found this place here on Yelp and thought I would give it a try. Won't be coming back here again for sure! I ordered a two combo entree. Kare-Kare and Pork Sinigang. Sinigang was super salty. Kare-Kare well the meet was hard. The worst of it all I got diarrhea from their food.
google avatar

Janeczka L.

Yelp
Came here for halo halo, they did not mention NO UBE ICE CREAM... So disappointed. How could you serve halo halo without a UBE ice cream? And they put cookies n cream instead. I hate cookies n cream, they didn't even tell me what flavors they had

Yelp
Been eating here for a long time and all I can say is for a Filipino small restaurant this is good. I sometimes eat inside but after covid I just buy to go as the tables inside are not a lot and it is just 1 long table. There's a lot of food to choose from. The one I always order is lechon kawali and monggo. I also order sinigang na baboy and kare kare. Price is good compared to grill city inside seafood city in Irvine also the food tastes better.

Yelp
This is the closet Filipino besides Jolly Bee and the Filipino point-point one inside 99 Ranch to my house. I'm just not a fan. Ladies first of all don't seem to be grateful for my business. Even if I say salamat and speak my tagalog-english. Nope..doesn't work to impress. They always seem to be grumpy, but then again I've only ever gone after work around 6pm or so. As for food wise, I always tell myself maybe it will be better. First of all, the prices are kind of expensive now around $10 or so a plate. Around 6pm food looks like it has been sitting all day and starts to develop that Filipino layer of grease film on the top. Plus, the place is kind of hot ventilation isn't very good with stale air. I suggest a pass. Unless, you really, really want Filipino food.
