The peaceful cozy ambiance that the elderly Japanese server/owner creates is wonderful and makes you feel like your friend's Mom is serving you a home cooked meal. Now is the Mom a good cook? We prefer the raw fish here over the cooked food. Sashimi was pretty fresh even during the pandemic. The pork belly pot was too fatty for us, and Udon at nearby Udon mugizo is better. But the tempura was a tad better than Udon mugizo. Meat quality tends to be not so fresh. The agedashi tofu was ok, but grated Daikon garnish was lacking. The deep fried baby octopus is better at Daigo. This is one of the pricier options in MV downtown, and we personally don't think the quality of the food reflects that. But if you want to pay a little extra for that authentic Japanese 'diner/casual eatery' ambiance, look no further.

Impeccable, glistening fresh sushi. Japanese tapas, attentive service. A bit too attentive, each plate and dish whisked away as soon as the last bite is taken without a chance to scrape off some lingering sauce remaining on the dishes. Very expensive but worth the ambience, service, and food quality. Sign on the wall almost guarantees fresh ingredients and hygiene.

The atmosphere is great. I like the light music in the background and the decorations! The service is great and the food are excellent! The black cod is well flavored and the sauce in the beef steak makes the rice real tasty. The green tea ice cream and the rice crispy together are very interesting!

A comfort Japanese restaurant located at mountain view downtown. Things I like: Uni sushi, it's quite a lot of uni, and the uni is fresh and tasty Scallops sashimi, very sweet Tako wasabi Grilled beef tongue was over cooked The rest are average or slightly better than average.

Really great Japanese food and pretty authentic taste. The chicken katsu curry and gyoza are amazing. The service was really good. I was only disappointed with the hot sake..it wasn't as impressive. The place is a little expensive but worth the authentic taste I would say

Excellent Japanese restaurant! Authentic, well-balanced and just-right flavor... Each element, down to the sauce, was high quality and so tasty -- onomatopoeia of satisfaction flows naturally! Next time, I shall try the sushi and sashimi. Enjoy!

There are half a dozen Japanese restaurants on Castro Street, this is the only one I frequently went to for dinner with family or for lunch with friends. Unfortunately, it does not have outdoor seating, otherwise, it would be much more popular during lunch hours under the dreamy California sunshine ☀️ cheers!

It’s disappointing that the angus beef don is no way close to what’s on the menu. The taste is awful, the meat portion is sad. Overall, it’s a clean bento with great portion of sides, but the main dish is sadly cooked. I wouldn’t recommend it for the takeouts.
