Karamay Uyghur Review - City - London - The Infatuation

"Karamay Uyghur is hidden among shiny offices and grab-and-go lunch spots in the City. Its original branch in Leicester claims to be the first Uyghur restaurant in the UK. Whether or not that’s true, we can’t verify, but its food certainly stands up in the fiery, flavour rankings. Given its location, the space feels a little slick—its big windows look out on to more ancient bodies of the City as suits search for sustenance, and the unapologetically green chilli-filled Chinese murger comes on a chopping board. But the handmade noodles have just the right amount of bounce and given the big round tables and light-filled room, we can think of few better places for a big Friday lunch around Fenchurch Street. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat" - Jake Missing

Wonderful cuisine! Been there three tomes already and have not yet been disappointed. I recommend the pilaf and spicy dishes. The service is top notch— professional, friendly, and rapid.

Our second visit- once again, the food, atmosphere, and staff were absolutely lovely! A special shoutout to Tina, who made us feel like welcomed guests in her own home, serving us delicious, freshly prepared dishes. Such a warm and homely vibe. First time ordering the rose herbal tea and it was lush

The portion sizes were quite small compared to the price. We ordered their specialty seasonal tea, which turned out to be extremely salty. The beef samsa was also overly salty, and the steamed dumplings were overpriced with a much smaller portion than shown in the pictures. The hand-pulled noodles were decent but too saucy, and the texture was chewy. On top of that, they didn’t even asked for drinking water. Overall, the food and service were average, and the pricing felt a bit high for what was offered. For two people the bill came around 28 but not filling the tummy.

THE BEST! This has been one of my favourite places ever in Leicester! Amazing atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in Turkmenistan! Uyghur cuisine is very rare to find, and this spot has gathered the magic of it in its dishes. I love their signature hand pulled noodles (feels very homey) and will definitely recommend this for family gatherings and outing with friends ♥️

Karamay Leicester is truly a gem! As a vegetarian, I was blown away by the garlicky broccoli and Chinese mushrooms, which were absolutely delicious. The tofu was to die for, and the Karamay special chips were really well-flavored. Everyone in my group enjoyed the chicken dishes as well. All food was freshly made using the finest quality of ingredients and the service was world class Overall, I can confidently say it's one of the best Chinese restaurants in Leicester!

Delicious halal Uyghur food in Leicester! The egg fried rice, steamed chicken dumplings, and Szechuan beef were all fresh, flavourful, and well-portioned. Highly recommend for something authentic and satisfying.

If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The staff are very friendly and will explain the dishes which you may or may not have come across before. The hand made noodles are hearty and exactly what you need on a cold wet day. Everything is well cooked and tasty. I would definitely come back.
