This place is such a mess! I took my friends who were visiting from Montreal (worth mentioning later in the review) here, hoping to show them a somewhat a memorable experience of NYC nightlife--this place was the first place we hit up and completely knocked out any potential of a good time.
We went to the bar and right from the get-go, the crowd was pretty awful. Lots of people presumably in their early 20s who clearly couldn't count how many drinks they'd drunk but the drinks kept rolling in. We're huge fans of public karaoke, and having lived in the karaoke continent of Asia (we knew going in that nothing would top that experience) we thought this place would be fun to sing our hearts out in front of a bunch of randos but what a shame to have had gone to this place as their first NYC nightlife experience.
The bartenders were the hot mess of the night--probably more so than the patrons themselves. My friend ordered 2 drinks on my tab with me and at first, was quoted $15. The shadiest thing that a bartender can ever do, followed--while she started pouring the drinks, she conveniently blurted out, "Oh sorry, I got the price wrong--it's actually 2 for $42, is that okay?" What? We should've just said no at this point, but we're tired, we're in K-Town where we have to go building hopping and go up a few stories to get to another bar, and we just want to drink.
She misquoted us--2 drinks came out to be $18 each, which is still pricey as hell for non-specialty well drinks where the alcohol, at most, was at a splash. On top of that, they had the audacity to add a 20% auto gratuity--my friends were baffled by this, coming from a place where 15% gratuity is the norm and usually not automatically imposed on a bill--especially for just the 3 of us. They also charge $3 for a song, which is absurd and very telling that this is a business that probably doesn't have any morals or principles behind their practices.
