Where to Find Jamaican Food Around D.C. - Eater DC

"Beef patties, oxtails, charcoal jerk chicken, and coco bread are all available at this Columbia Heights spot. But curry goat meat, falling off the bone in a rich stew, reigns supreme. Sides include rice and peas, cabbage, plantains, or mac and cheese." - Lenore Adkins

Penn Quarter’s Ping Pong Dim Sum Has Closed - Eater DC

"New Columbia Heights has spotted signage for Karibbean Kitchen, a new restaurant taking shape at 1400 Meridian Place NW. The presumably island-themed eatery replaces small plates spot, the Getaway." - Warren Rojas

Whoever was the cook on 3/22/22 needs to be replaced they served me some weird mushy Mac and cheeses. Nobody answered the phone so I guess I have to write my concerns online. In addition, I tried jerk and brown stew both was nasty. The rice and plantains was good. The bartender was really nice. Overall, I wouldn’t drive 20 minutes there again.

HORRIBLE! I ORDERED THE RED SNAPPER STEAMED FISH AND IT CAME IN CHICKEN SOUP, NOT EVEN FISH SOUP OR SAUCE!!! NOT THE SAUCE IT SHOULD HAVE. AND IT CAME IN A MESS! I do not recommend this place! Poorly put together and a lazy way to do Caribbean food!

This was my first visit to Karibbean Kitchen LLC. Ordered the Oxtails, Peas and Rice with Extra Gravy on the Rice😉. Great portion size and the seasoning was on point. Jerk chicken wings were good and not super spicy. The rum punch had a nice kick. Staff was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to my next visit to get my little taste of Jamaica! ❤💛💚

I am so upset that I did not take a picture of the food but I guess I was just so excited to eat it. The food was fantastic. Tasted fresh and authentic. I’m not a pro with Jamaican food and this was my first time really eating it, but I feel like I know good food. And this was good food. Must try it and I will definitely go back. If you’re in a rush, the food comes out a little slow so take your time and enjoy the time with the staff and other customers. Great vibes in there and from what we heard yesterday, they will be having an upstairs and a patio for summer time fun. I will definitely be going back.

Went their to get some oxtails, unfortunately they were out! The cashier recommended jerk chicken instead. OMG!! Not only was the potions of food was worth the price the food was outstanding and delicious. The wait time was not long and the cashier asked if I wanted to take a look around since it was my first time their. Customer service and food food is a plus for me. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Caribbean food, drinks, and entertainment!!
