Located near Jama Masjid, every food lover should have at least once eat at karim's. That said, timing really matters here. My strong suggestion is to go early in the evening, before the dinner rush begins. When the place is less crowded, the service is noticeably better and the overall experience is far more enjoyable. As the crowd increases, the service quality does tend to deteriorate, which can take away from the charm of the meal.
Coming to the food, mutton is an absolute must at Karim’s — and honestly, it’s the best mutton I’ve ever tasted. The depth of flavour, tenderness, and richness of the gravy are on another level. While chicken dishes are available, I would strongly recommend prioritising mutton over chicken here. This is where Karim’s truly shines. The bread items deserve special mention. The naans and roomali rotis are excellent, and even a single piece is surprisingly filling and satisfying. They complement the gravies perfectly and can easily quench your hunger without needing excessive quantities.
An interesting aspect of Karim’s is that there is one central kitchen, with food being served across multiple nearby seating spaces and hotels. Despite this setup, the quality of the food remains consistent. While the kebabs are popular, in my opinion, the bone-in pieces — especially mutton — are the real stars. The flavour you get from meat cooked on the bone is unmatched, both in quality and taste.
