Karkloof Safari Spa

Oh my goodness, it was so BAD!!! My husband booked her for our anniversary, thinking it was a 5 star spa, it’s in the middle of nowhere which fine that can’t be helped. When we finally reached there, we were stuck outside the gate for an hour, no way to reach anyone inside, no signal. There are multiple abandoned and locked up shalets, no directions, no one to ask, and you drive around looking for someone. We finally get to the location, a Thai lady, who can’t speak English, says our room is not ready, it’s 1pm, check in was at 11. She says we must wait and order a drink so long, no menu, she tells us what we can choose standing in the driveway. She takes us down to the lobby shalet, all separated, it’s locked and hot inside. Smells musky. Same lady brings us stale bread and our drinks, the coke was flat, same lady. No other staff to be seen. No waitress, no barman, no background music. It’s like a ghost town. We asked to leave immediately, one good thing is they did refund our money. Can’t comment on the rooms as we never got to see it, but it’s clear the place had new ownership and no money to run it. It has potential but 0 staff and 0 management. I feel bad for the lady working by herself she was sweet with her limited English, but you could smell the staleness of those buildings never being opened. There is no atmosphere or vibe.

My family and I used to go to the spa here all the time pre-lockdown, and were so happy to see they reopened. We were there this past weekend and had a great experience. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

This place is fantastic from start to finish!. We had Lucas as our game driver and the superb rolling hills and amazing landscapes creatures and animals kept us enthralled every bit of the way. Thank you Lucas you were amazing. The spa was equally fabulous, meals were tasty and treatments relaxing. This is an unrivalled experience.

Amazing place to visit. The scenery and vibe is awesome. The rooms are amazing. Quality of the food is great. The spa is out of this world. The setup of the spa is like one from another country. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Good game drive with a good ranger to explain everything u need to know.

Thank you to Lawrence and the team, we had an excellent weekend at the spa. The accommodation, food and the spa were all five star rating. The gravel road to the spa was challenging but not impossible. We have stayed at a number of resorts internationally and locally and this was certainly among the best. Well done.

What an exceptional location and top class facilities. We were well taken care for a rather larger party of 11. Would love to go back at some time to enjoy the serenity of the place.

Beautiful place. Best Spa I have ever been to. Secluded in a stunning setting. Great treatment options. Not the cheapest but worth it. Also many additional amenities.
