Karl August - a Neighborhood Hotel (Nuremberg, Bavaria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At the Karl August, it’s commonplace to sip your coffee beside locals or chat with a German family while waiting your turn at the Bonbon Ice Cream Bar. The boutique hotel, located off a pedestrian-only promenade in Nuremberg’s lively Augustinerhof district, is as welcoming to the public as it is to guests — and with its sleek French brasserie, sunny all-day café, a one-MICHELIN-Star restaurant, and a branch of the popular Museum of the Future right next door, as appealing to both." - Tablet Hotels

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything was well maintained. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and fresh. The location is ideal: quiet, yet within walking distance of the city center. Extra highlights were the free use of the swimming pool and sauna, and the convenient underground parking just across the street. Highly recommended!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION... perfect for any inner city activities on foot. Close to it all!!! SUPER friendly and personable staff. Make sure to check put the pool and spa. Stunning!!! Breakfast out of the box impeccable. Rooms clean and spacious, designed with a contemporary nod to mediaeval like lodging. Awesome place for anyone who is looking for a place off the beaten path w/out sacrifice of amenities and laid back luxury. Will book future stays in a heartbeat.

I spent a weekend in Nuremberg and booked my stay at Hotel Karl August in the Old Town — and wow, what an incredible experience from start to finish. I arrived at the hotel extremely early (check-in is at 3pm), but Leah at the front desk welcomed me warmly, took my bags, and even offered some great suggestions for places to visit in the meantime. When I came back around 5pm, I was greeted by Emilio, who upgraded my room and personally took my bags upstairs. He was incredibly friendly, and we got along great right away. Shortly after settling into my room, I received a message on WhatsApp from reception asking if I was enjoying everything and if I needed anything — such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. I even shared some photos from my day with them, and the conversation stayed fun and friendly throughout my stay. The facilities? Outstanding. The gym was spotless, stylish, and well-equipped — treadmills, a bike, rowing machine, high-tech smith machine, loads of water and towels — everything you’d want. The pool felt straight out of a Bond movie, sleek and modern with an epic city view. There’s also a sauna, which I made full use of — a very cool extra. The room itself was beautiful — comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and absolutely stunning from an architectural standpoint. Every corner of this place oozes style and class. I can’t speak for every hotel in Nuremberg, but I can say with full confidence that I had an amazing experience at Hotel Karl August. I’d absolutely recommend it and would love to stay again next time I’m in town. Thank you, Vincent, Anna, Emilio, Leah, and the rest of the team — you guys nailed it.

Checked into Karl August for a quick city escape—what a delightful surprise. Sleek, modern lobby with that warm, friendly buzz you only get in a boutique spot. My room was compact but cleverly designed: big window, plush bedding, and a bathroom with just-right lighting and great pressure in the shower. Staff felt genuinely welcoming—helpful tips about nearby coffee spots and even suggested a quieter local bar for later. Breakfast was simple but excellent: fresh pastries, tasty eggs, and strong coffee served in an inviting dining nook.

Very nice hotel in a great location and with a parking garage underneath. We only stayed 1 night on our way home, but I’d stay again. The concrete interior and unfinished ceiling in the breakfast room are not something I’d choose for a hotel of this class, but I’m sure that’s just me. The breakfast isn’t your normal continental buffet but they serve you at the table. You get a quality and variety of meats, fruits, vegs, sweet toppings and even fish to add to your bread. Eggs are made to order. Very nice start of the day. They have a spa area at the top floor with a sauna and swimming pool. Downside is there is no actual lighting above the swimming pool or even light shining at the pool, so at night it’s pretty dark.

Great hotel perfectly located in the middle of Nürnberg. Great to reach with public transport, very nice interior, modern facilities and spa with a great view of the city. Breakfast is good but priced too high In my opinion. Overall good experience.

Cannot say enough good things about staying at the Karl August! Such a fantastic location to everything, the rooms and lobby are inviting and pristine, the two cafes are fantastic (the breakfast is a must!), and the other hotel amenities like the pool and spa just made our trip that much better. Will absolutely stay here again in Nuremberg. Thank you to the lovely staff!

We stayed in the hotel for 3 days with 2 little kids. The room was spacious for all of us. The room was very clean , tidy and hygenic. Everytime, our rooms got cleaned , they were squeaky clean. We loved it so much. The breakfast was amazing. Everyday we always looked forward to it. People who served breakfast were so kind and courteous. We totally recommend this hotel if you want quality service. Thank you for making our stay very pleasant.
