Pub Burger and Wilshire Burger were both amazing. Pub Burger comes with a ground steak trim beef patty and chipotle ale mayo sauce. Wilshire Burger has beer-brined bacon and fresh avocado. One thing that really stood out was the bun. It’s nicely toasted, which makes the burger even better. They also have a wide selection of beers. If you ask for recommendations, the staff is helpful, and they even let you taste before choosing. I went with the golden stout, and it was a really good call with the burgers. Good food, a variety of beer, and an easy place to hang out if you’re craving a proper burger and a solid brew.

Very chill, excellent beer, sports on tvs. Because it was so good we returned the next night and were told by the security guard at the door they were full and not allowing anyone else in. Looking through the windows, that clearly was not the case. If the fact is you don't have enough staff, tell us, and we'll decide if we want to deal with that. So disappointing for a place that was so good the night before, even as it was much more populated than the 2nd night. Please be consistent.

Art and Tristan were behind the bar and phenomenal! Both very knowledgeable about the different brews. The regular fries came out hot and delicious. Highly recommended the Boat Shoes Hazy IPA and the Frank the Dank IPA. But on a sweeter note, the hard cherry cola is top notch. Highly recommend stopping in if you're a microbrewery fan. They have lots of options.

A brewery located in downtown Los Angeles that has both casual dining options and a laid-back feel. Plenty of open seating. I like the couches that you can also sit and relax and have a beer. I noticed a large conference room area. During my visit everything was really clean. The only downfall of this brewery are the flights are way too expensive compared to just a pint. I paid $15 for a flight of four that are supposed to be 4 ounces and some were actually quite less. It's unfortunate because flights are typically were you figure out what you like to drink. I recommend just going with the pint which is about $8 and guessing which beer you may enjoy. With a flight of 4 and a pint of beer and an order of fries it was about $37. The fries were good and paired well with beer and casual conversation. Overall it was ok for one time visit. The surprising cost of the flight is the reason I won't come back.

Omg. We just stopped for a quick drink and turned into a great experience. The kombucha drinks were perfect for me since I both don't like beer and I'm gluten free. I believe her name was Amanda (sorry but it probably starts with a A)??? She was from Santa Clarita. Amazing host. I wanted a specific shirt I saw other girls wearing and she found it for me. My husband enjoyed the Blonde beer. He was able to taste before getting which was awesome 👍🏼. Definitely want to go again when we are back in Los Angeles!!!!

We just happened to walk past here and saw there was a happy hour, so felt compelled to go in! The range and quality of beers was excellent and the $20 beer and burger deal was really good value; we expected smaller portions as it was a deal, but were very pleasantly surprised by the size! It was very quiet when we came in, so there was a lot of room.

In town for a conference during the week and love checking out new breweries. This place is a must stop. We had the wings (boneless even though they don't say that) w sweet chili garlic and the beer sausages. My wife wants to step in and say a few things: - the pickled onions on the beer sausages plate were fantastic - she ate the garnish (cabbage) that came w the wings bc the sauce and the ranch was soooooo good - all the IPAs were on point but specifically the "Boat Shoes", "Frank the Dank" and the "Aurora Hoppyalis" Well done Karl, well done...

I first fell in love with Karl Strauss Brewing Company in San Diego when I attempted to overdose on macaroni and cheese because of how good it was, so living next to this Karl Strauss location is both a blessing and a curse. We came here on a Monday afternoon for "happy hour" to take advantage of the appetizer deals and orderd both the Beer Pretzels and the Buffalo Boneless wings. The pretzels were pretty darn big, fluffy and had just the right amount of salt to make these guys awesome pretzels, while the Buffalo Boneless Wings were on the smaller side, but had really good chicken that went great with the delicious buffalo sauce. For a main course I kept it simple and ordered the Pub Burger, a burger that consisted of two slices of Tillamook cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Chipotle Ale Mayo, and was served with a side of french fries. The burger itself was just a really good, no frills, burger with great taste and nothing negative. The french fries served on the side are also just really good standard french fries that pair nicely. Overall, Karl Strauss Brewing Company is a homerun for a quick meal. This is the second location I've been too and the staff at both of them have been super friendly on both visits. The restaurant itself is absolutely massive, offering bar seating, booths, and tables scattered all around the place. Do I reccomend this place? Absolutely, though I think I might have to go back to the Mac and Cheese for my third visit.

We came for lunch and were a large party but greeted by a welcoming service staff whose accommodation and warmth set the tone for a great lunch time dinning experience. The resturant showcases a sleek setting that includes beautiful lighting displays and edgy interior design. Now for the food, the menu boast of an array of American bar food with a gourmet flare that transported our tastebuds to various levels. East dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece with a perfect blends of flavors and textures that was a reflection of the Management Teams's commitment to high quality. What truly elevates this spot was the seamless coordination between the kitchen and wait staff. We were limited on time but the wait staff and our server were very attentive which added another layer of enjoyment to our lunch time dinning experience. We will definitely be back when in DTLA!!

Had a strong hankering for fish and chips since I didn't celebrate St. Patrick's day the day of, so this hit the spot! The crunch of the fish batter was delightful and the fish and fries were hot and fresh. The tartar sauce was delightful and glad they have ketchup and cholula at the table. The other appetizers and mains looked really good too, I'd love to return for a burger. Ambience: This is a large space and the AC was on, I can see myself returning in the summer. Crowd was mostly people who work in DTLA out for lunch. Service: The staff were polite and we were in and out within 30 minutes.

Hubby and I came here after work on a Tuesday. I love that we were able to seat ourselves, get comfy, and decompress after a long day in the office. My hubby really enjoyed the beer (forgive me, I forgot the name of it), and I had a hard seltzer. We ordered the beer pretzels, truffle fries, and carne asada tacos. Those truffle fires were HEAVENLY GARLICKY GOODNESS! So good that we got an order to go hahaha. The beer pretzels were okay, but the tacos lacked flavor big time. Other than that, we were glad we tried out Karl Strauss. They had been on our list of places to try for a minute.

Out visiting LA for the second time. I stumbled across this place since it was close to my hotel. I am very glad that I decided to come here. The food was outstanding. I started off with the harissa hummus, 10/10, creamy with great flavors. If anything I would have liked more veggies and less pita chips. Next I got the Brussel spouts, very good, the cheese was a great contrast of flavor 8.9/10. For the entree I got the beer brined pork chops 9.5/10. The flavor was great and I loved the mustard sauce that was used with this. The green beans had great flavor and was a well balanced accompaniment on the plate. The mash potatoes were pretty good. If there was any complaint is was that there was too much sweet sauce on the plate, but that may be a personal preference. All in all I was extremely delighted being here and I would be back without a second thought.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars over 4 is because I've been here a handful of times and their selection of beer on tap always seems to be limited. They tend to only have a limited amount of options that are on tap, which is kind of frustrating when you go to a brewery. Aside from that service is always good and there is plenty of space to sit and grab a beer after work and or to catch a sports game.

I was in the area and was hungry after a workout, so I check it out. Customer service was cool and by the bartender, even though I got to self seat near the bar. I had the mixed organic salad with chicken and side salmon. This salad was probably one of the best salads I've had for its style. The chicken was tender and the salmon was cooked perfectly. An amazing protein packed after workout meal. I didn't expect it to be that good but on my list for top salads of all time. Had that sweet and tangy taste coupled with the fresh greens. The proteins made it best. I'd definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

Local pub spot in DTLA on Wilshire and Grand. They make their beers so no brand names here. Great space for large groups. They have good happy hour specials. I enjoyed the sliders which were good and filling.

Solid option to grab a beer and food with friends! I like that the tables are spread out so you don't feel squished by other parties. The food portions are generous and our servers were helpful with our questions on the menu and kind!

Karl Strauss reopened last year after being closed during Covid. They're open for lunch and dinner with happy 3-6 pm every day. Their drink menu is limited to beers and seltzers (no cocktails) and they're $1 off during happy hour. We came here for lunch without a reservation and it was mostly empty. We got a table and had to go to the bar/counter to order. Their menu has a variety of food including a decent amount of vegetarian options. The food was pretty straightforward-- the salmon was tasty and a fairly large portion but very standard with brussels sprouts as the side (they allowed me to sub for fries). The tacos came with 3 tacos which was a good size and they were decent except the tortilla which was a bit soggy. Overall the big open space and average pricing makes a good lunch spot if you work in the area and need a sit down lunch!

I got the Wilshire burger and it was pretty good. The atmosphere was fine. The reason I give it a two star is because the service was horrible. Had to ask for mayonnaise three times to three different staff before I finally got it. Did not get avocado with our appetizer of the nachos. Server did not really check on us. It was very disappointing. Worst service I have got in a long time.

This place is located in downtown LA and has a ton of beers to choose from. I'm a picky beer drinker and only like porters and stouts and this place has some to choose from, not just one, even if it's out of season. The bartenders are also really nice and will let you try a sample when deciding what to order.

Too many Dodger fans. . Just kidding, it was cool to see them close out the Mets. Food was delicious. Hazy IPA's hit the spot. Bartenders were friendly and made us feel welcomed. Great atmosphere for a game and beer.

Great spot for happy hour! Tried their oktoberfest beer and the marzen was yum - got to keep the stein too. I also really liked their extensive IPA menu. Will be back to try some of the small batch crafts.

Haven't been here is some time. Had to lower them to 2-3 stars. Mostly due to price and service. No more table service. You order from the bar , walk up fast food style. Then sit and wait. Food was good as before but when we needed refills or condiment stuff had to hunt someone down because so table service. And that's not really that bad but then when you tackon the price of the food it's like we spent $25 on a sandwich and fries and didn't get any better experience than you would get an a McDonald's or other fast food type place. normally in the past when you go here for lunch, it would be packed but we walked in the middle of rush-hour lunchtime, and there was five or six people in the entire place so I can kind of see why. But maybe thats the new post covid situation...

I was glad they opened back up because I love their beer selection here. Probably one of my favorite breweries around. This is also a great location. Located on Wilshire and Grand it's definitely in the middle of downtown. You can park either at the One Wilshire Building or next door as there's a parking structure because it will be tough to get street parking unless you get lucky. Besides that I grabbed their beer flight and enjoyed their Wilshire Burger which was really delicious. It doesn't take much for me, just hit me with a good burger and some good beer to wash it down with and I'm good to go. Of course I ordered it medium, that's a must for me and I'll for sure order this burger again to satisfy my burger cravings. But they have more on the menu. Dinner plus Also have a happy hour menu here with some bar bites, I look forward to trying more items soon. The only drawback is the hours here. As of now they're closing at 9 and at 8. Seriously 8pm on a Sunday when it's football season? Sunday Night Football doesn't end at 8 that means I got to chug and go before they lock up. And they are serious about leaving on time too. And They subtly remind you too. One day The bartender cut the music and tv's off right after last call. I guess it was time to chug and go, Too bad for the people who were still sitting at the tables and who just barely got their orders brought out to them. Lol alright, message received Loud and Clear. But hopefully with things opening up the hours will be extended soon because it's a chill spot to hang out at in DTLA.

WARNING PEPSI PRODUCTS SOLD HERE IYKYK Mac and Cheese was a'ight, had the plain one. Friend liked the wings. Salmon was meh. Too much crust and all kinda mess with it. Tuna nachos were okay. Server was cool. No probs. Place was clean but pretty empty. Will I go back? No.

Good Beer and Solid food options but horrible customer service. We sat around for 15-20 minutes with no one asking us to order drinks. We had 3 different servers that had no idea what happened previously. NO settings or utensils were provided. When food finally arrived we politely asked for settings and server snapped at us to "let him finish serving the food". Sure thing. We had to tell him who ordered what since he did not take our order. We eventually had to get our own eating utensils from another table. I would go back to other locations but NOT the DTLA location. The service just ruined our night.

Despite having a 'Now Hiring' sign in their window for 18-months, they never opened up until recently, which made the people at work happy. The world is still not is once was and Karl's has a reduced menu and new process where you order at the bar before choosing a seat (and make sure to grab your drink and utensils). The service is still professional and the food plating still comes out social media ready and the food is still quality. The place has a different vibe than it once did, but hopefully with time Karl's and the world will both be fully back on track!

Clean, average noise levels, cool inside, good eats and friendly service. All I ever ask for in a brewery and had a great time here. The parking garage was closed but one was opened across the street. Pretty solid place overall.

I have never visited a Karl Strauss brewery before, so a friend and I decided to check it out before our photo walk. First things first, the ambiance of this location was very clean and welcoming. The bathrooms are very comfortable and maintained for you not to worry about doing your business. They have a great selection of beer on tap as well as seasonal flavors. The happy hour food menu is a great price, but you get what you pay for. We ordered the bbq sliders, and the presentation of the mini burgers looked very appealing, not to mention how fast they came out. The only downside is that the sliders were very generic tasting and that the bbq sauce overpowered the whole taste of the meat and burger experience. I would recommend going here for a place to meet up and have a few drinks.

Just left after being ignored at beer by 3 working staff. 2 groups of people came in after me and got menus plus pours while i just sat there . Absolutely unacceptable. Was ignored for 3 full songs on my Playlist

Stopped in for a quick bite so I'll make this short and sweet. Large interior and food is ordered at the bar or through the QR code at the table. Menu is very limited but I had one of the best mesquite chicken sandwiches I've ever had here today. Worth the stop!

I had the pleasure of having Rico as my server for two days in a row. Not only was he attentive, fun, and knowledgeable, but he remembered my dog's name! He checked on our table multiple times throughout our lunches, and I could not speak more highly of him. We will definitely be returning and we will definitely ask to be placed in his section.

Decided to stop in while we were in town this weekend. Good selection of beer on tap. Food is about what you'd expect when you visit a brewery or sports bar. The sign said to order at the bar, so we did. Honestly, I don't think that they guy looked at us once - he acknowledged that we were there by walking up but I swear he never looked at us. Were we ready to order the moment we walked up? No, so we asked for a minute to review the menu. I saw something that looked interesting and said it out loud and the guy behind the bar repeated it as he started to enter it, I think I may have accidentally shouted "NO!" followed up by a more calm "I was just pointing it out". Again he acknowledged that I was heard, this time with a nod. We placed our order and he slid out number over to us - this time he did have to look at us to tell us what to do with the number, but that was the only eye contact. (eye contact isn't a make-or-break for me, but for heavens sake that's a great way to connect with your customer and also you'll be able to know when they're actually placing their order vs pointing out something on the menu to their dining companion) I don't remember what beer I ordered, but it was fine. The hubs got a Dt Soda and it was Dt Soda-ey, so also fine. I ordered Mac & Cheese (I believe they call it Mac & Tap Cheese, or something like that). I don't know why it was calling my name, but it was and I wasn't disappointed! The hubs ordered Fish and Chips. When it was delivered, the gal placing it in front of us asked us if we wanted anything. He asked for more vinegar and then she asked if we wanted water and I replied 'yes'. Sadly, she never found her way back. No one ever came to check up on us. Fortunately we were fine with the beverages that we'd ordered at the bar and he made do with his one little packet of vinegar If I visit this area of LA, would I go again? There are a lot of options in the area so it's not likely. I'm not disappointed that I went because the Mac & Cheese was tasty, just likely that I'd not go again. Thanks for reading my review.

Karl Strauss was probably the longest-shuttered restaurant during the pandemic that didn't actually close. Long after most places had opened, Karl Strauss was still shut tight as a drum, yet there was no sign that the place was gone for good. They've been open for some time, but their quasi-hidden location, combined with some rather inconvenient hours (closing as early as 8 P.M.), means I've missed visiting again until now. The place is still just as big as always, but the emptiness makes it feel cavernous. The retail beer coolers behind are as empty as the tables. One person works the bars and tables; ordering is now counter service at the bar. The previously ambitious chophouse-style menu has been pared back to "bar food" ― salads, sandwiches, and a few appetizers. The happy hour items I tried were fine, but just that: Street tacos were buried under two kinds of thick mystery sauce, as was the quesadilla. The sliders had a barbecue sauce that competed with a strong dollop of horseradish; one or the other, please. As for beers, Karl Strauss is leaning heavily into IPAs, and most of the few non-IPA beers come from the "Friends of Karl" breweries. The beers are pleasant but not memorable, and I don't think they are currently brewing anything in-house at the moment. Service can be slow but is friendly. As it got later and more customers seemed to come in, I noticed more staff on the floor, too. One major problem is the sound system: The televisions showing the Rams game were uncomfortably loud ― especially unnecessary in a nearly empty restaurant that was otherwise silent. Please, folks, turn it down. I hope Karl Strauss can get to be a little more like it was before the pandemic closures in time, with a bigger offering of beers and a more tolerable volume on their sound system. Before COVID, Karl Strauss was one of the less interesting places to drink beer Downtown, but with many places now shuttered, I appreciate that they're still around more than ever.

It was just ok. A bit overpriced. Nothing that memorable. I don't think they had cocktails, just beer and maybe wine.

Came here with my coworkers on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. They had just opened and were already packed. You order at the bar and grab your own seats. It was kinda of slow for us to have our order taken and for our food to arrive. My burger arrived 10 minutes after everyone elses food. I ordered the wilshire burger which came with bacon and avocado and it was good! The burger was nice and juicy. Their sweet potato fries are good. We also tried the poke nachos and brussel sprouts. I give 4 stars for food but 3 for slowness of service. They also have a great selection of beers.

Came for a quick drink and bite on a Sunday around 5 and it seems they have happy hour from 3-6pm everyday. Drinks are only a dollar off but they also had a lot of food options. Got the golden stout and it's so good! Also God the quesadilla and it hit the spot. Food came out quite quickly too. Place has lots of settings and is perfect for groups of all sizes. Definitely recommend as a meet up spot. They also had the world cup and other sport games on so it's a great place to chill and hang out.

Spacious place with good services and great beer, obviously! I went to this place around the 4th of July and it wasn't busy. The server was nice and friendly, and he helped me choose beer for the build your own flight. I recommend this place for both groups and a solo customer.

My boss took me and a few coworkers there for lunch at 11:30am. Food was great as always. But, the server (H. Hand) 1st didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink. 2nd once we were "almost" done he came over and ask if we wanted to close out. I said "yes" he then puts the machine in my bosses face as she was still eating and says the total. He didn't show us or anything. Then as we were leaving not even from the table the next server came and ask if we closed out. Very rude. It wasn't busy at all for this to happen.

Awesome beers, big space, great food! Service is pretty consistent, everyone for the most part is friendly and welcoming. Beers are great, they have something for everyone's likes and even wine for those who don't drink beer. If you're into sours, the controlled chaos is amazing. The red trolley is a good one too, not too strong and not too light. Food menu is not what it used to be pre-pandemic but still solid. The double truffle fries are a must!! The chicken wings, burgers, tacos are all great options, even the salads. The poke nachos are a little weird, not my favorite but not bad. Overall, an awesome spot in DTLA with a great atmosphere and selection of beers. It's as good for lunch as it is for watching sports!

The pricing is fair and I love the beer. They're ok with letting customers taste a few as a brew pub should (unbelievably some don't). It's a bright spot in an otherwise blighted downtown LA, but I digress. The fish tacos are excellent and burgers as well. I highly recommend this place.

Karl Strauss Brewing Company is an amazing place to hang out with friends specially on a Friday night after work or any time. We arrived at the happy hour tIme and they have a list of beer and wine for $5 and discounted appetizers. We shared the spicy hummus which was so creamy and delicious. It has a special quick. We had also the Brussels sprouts which I love them. I had the ginger salmon, the portion was so big that I had some leftovers for home ll. I also ordered a side of salad. I don't drink so I can't describe the beers or drinks they have. Parking at the same building and they validate. I had so much fun. A little cold so bring your sweater.
