"Crispy panko tops the extra cheesy macaroni at Karla’s Restaurant and Bar in New Hope. The first dining experience we had on our recent trip to New Hope, PA was Karla’s. We arrived for a late dinner and were greeted by friendly staff and an eclectic, quaint and homey feeling dining space. This unique restaurant is filled with artistic and delightfully charming decor and boasts multiple dining rooms flanked by a hopping little bar. To start we ordered a Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita, Cucumber Gimlet and the Baked Brie appetizer. The margarita was a beautiful blend of sweet and heat and the gimlet was a wonderfully refreshing departure from the summer sizzle. The Baked Brie was generously drizzled with a buttery honey and accompanied by soft, crusty bread and a spiced olive oil. We selected the Glazed Sesame Soy Salmon and the Grilled Skirt Steak for our entrees. The sweet and tangy salmon adorned a medley of fresh vegetables, and perfectly cooked soba noodles. The dish was reminiscent of a really yummy teriyaki-style salmon. The Skirt Steak was drenched in rich brown gravy and served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was well-cooked but could have benefited from a tad more seasoning and perhaps a bit of heat. Overall, Karla’s was very enjoyable and I definitely recommend stopping by this sweet little spot for a bite, cocktails and an overall good time!

Nice brunch place! They offer a limited number of options for breakfast and brunch, but the food and service was amazing! We went there on a Saturday morning, and had brunch. Espresso Martini and Mimosa were both fantastic. I tried the Three Peppers Omelette and it was absolutely delicious, the accompanying home fries were also amazing! If you're ever in the area around brunch time, do try it.

Great place to come visit during a nice sunny Sunday. Pricing is super friendly, staff is great and the food and portions are more than enough. Good variety for brunch and lunch and dinner. Plus they have a full bar

Google
The food was okay, but the breakfast cocktails were very good. I loved the coffee mugs they had, they don't have the same look, just a hodgepodge collection. I got M&M cup, which was great. The food was good. The service could have been a tad better mainly because our server seemed to be having a bad day (maybe it was just that particular day). The price is also on a bit of the higher side.

Who needs date night when you have date day? My hubs and I snuck out for a baby-free lunch at Karla’s. The food was fantastic (I got the shrimp tacos and they had no business being that good!!). The environment and service even better. If you have a hankering for a casual, yet elevated weekday meal, put Karla’s on your list. It’s right off Mechanic Street and easy to overlook. They serve brunch on the weekends and European-inspired fare every night of the week. We will most definitely return.

Took a quick ride to get out of the house. My hubby and I decided we were going to have a nice bite to eat in New Hope instead of Sunday sauce. We had the best brunch at Karla's. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He loved it. I had the breakfast pita. In photo. We will definitely be back again.

One of our favorite places in town…chill vibe and the music is always great! Staff is friendly, and the bartenders Jim and Shanoah are very personable and always make fantastic drinks. The cococut pineapple margarita is amazing!!

Judy K.

Yelp
Jim the bartender is just awesome. Truly one of the best bartenders. The food and martinis are awesome as well. Have Jim make you a French martini, you won't be sorry. Thanks Jim!

Yelp
Stopped in on a recent Sunday for lunch. The place is very small but has seating inside & outside. It was very busy. We sat outside as the weather was nice. Will start with the bad. The older blonde / white hair man who seated us was just plain rude. Threw the menus at us and left. Thought maybe we pissed him off for some reason but he was just as rude to other customers who brought their dog to sit outside. Apparently dogs aren't allowed by the way & boy did he let the the entire patio know. He shouldn't be allowed to deal with customers. I was very turned off from this point. The good? Our waitress was pleasant & food was good. Ordered a chicken sandwich & fries to split. plus a Sangria & hubby got a beer. Would we go back? Not sure.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Stopped here for Sunday brunch and was seated immediately. The staff is very attentive and definitely works hard to keep customers happy. I tried Tony's Toast, and my friend had the Eggs Benedict. Both were fantastic, and the portion sizes are huge. I would come back to this cute little spot any time!

Jessica W.

Yelp
Super adorable LGBTQ+ friendly restaurant with cosy vibes, attentive service, and big servings of food.

Yelp
Well....such a controversial spot. From outside it looks european, authentic, and intriguing. Ambiance is very relax(ed) and relax(ing). But once you get in, everything changes. We came in as two adults and a baby. They don't have high chairs (huh?). That means they don't welcome families with young children. Noted. The outside covered patio looks fantastic by the way--and that's where we sat. We just pulled the stroller to the table. The food menu is pretty versatile. There are some choices. They have a separate drink menu and the place specializes on their martinis. Here's a tasteless catch though, if you look at their menu at the very very top they quote some guy, whose alleged famous quote goes as following: "Let me get a cock-tail". I am not kidding. How childish, tasteless, basic, graceless, and tacky. Yuck! And all this basically sums the place up. As far as food, I had a turkey burger, and my husband had a short rib burger. Turkey burger was actually good, but my husband's burger was again...basic, tasteless...etc etc (you get the gist) This "new american" place as they claim could be so much more....But oh well.

Scott S.

Yelp
Karla's is a favorite of ours. The entire staff is made up of really fun, friendly, and welcoming people who are good at what they do. The food is delicious and well portioned. The bartenders make excellent cocktails. Pours are extremely generous.

Karen T.

Yelp
Went here for lunch a month or so ago and had a nice time. Food was good, the server was quick but also friendly/efficient, and we appreciated that they fit us in on a busy weekend day. They have an interesting combination of indoor/semi indoor/outdoor seating options, so is a little bigger than you expect from outside. Would definitely consider stopping in again when we're in the area.

Christina V.

Yelp
Cute place in new hope. Staff were friendly. We showed up prob 3:05pm on a Sunday and weren't offered the brunch menu since it ended at 3. It was fine since the brunch and lunch menu weren't too different, with many more sweet dishes like pancakes on the brunch menu. Kids and I ordered several things to share. Calamari and fried chicken sandwich were the stars of the show. Everything else was just ok. The fries were sooo disappointing, soggy and oily for both the poutines and the Cajun seasoned fries which we thought came with the $19 burger but it was an additional $11 charge. Wouldn't have minded if they were crispy. This would be a solid 3.5 stars outta 5. The drinks did look fantastic though. Maybe I'll try again for locals nights.

Ash Y.

Yelp
One of our staples when in New Hope. Its quant and the ambiance is so warm and inviting. The food is always solid and the staff is so friendly.

Jay B.

Yelp
What a beautiful gem in New Hope! Food: we loved everything that we had. It was our first time here and we came on a Monday so we had the pre-fixe locals night menu which was fantastic. Both fish were cooked perfectly, sides were delicious and the Mac and cheese was gooey. The desserts made the meal even better. The waffle was perfectly crisp with a sweet crust, and the chocolate mousse cake was decadent. We were so impressed with everything we tried. Ambiance: the restaurant itself is beautiful. There's outdoor seating and indoor seating, all with a garden feel. Each part of the restaurant has it's own unique vibe and decor. Service: the service was fantastic. Our waiter was very kind, thoroughly answered our questions and reviewed the locals night menu. We will be back often.

Sandy F.

Yelp
Love the vibe at this place! Eclectic and not pretentious. We came in for a drink and a few apps. The poutine fries were EXCELLENT! The Buffalo wings were also good. I had a mango margarita which was good but a little strong. Overall it was a great experience!

Karly K.

Yelp
Excellent experience here. Service was quick and friendly. Love the mismatched interior with tons of plants. A cheerful, refined yet causal atmosphere. Poutine to start--pretty good and big portion. Would've liked the curds to be more melted rather than congealed and maybe a dash more salt & pepper. The stuffed pork chop was the star--extremely succulent, stuffed nicely with cheeses and prosciutto for a unique flavor. Broccolini and potatoes seasoned well and soft. Everything tasted very fresh. Pasta was very rich and would be hard to finish in one sitting. You definitely get the punch of the blue cheese. Burger looked very nice and large with a side salad. Cocktails made with fresh juices. Old fashioned was strong with nice essence from basil. Waitress even surprised me with a generous slice of cheesecake for my birthday (best I ever had!). Fluffy and not too sweet with graham cracker crust. This place is great!

Brandy H.

Yelp
The place was hopping with people and we were lucky to get in early. The service was ok, the bartender helped out and so we were taken care of. The food was quite rich and after a full day of walking the streets of Lambertville and New Hope we were very hungry and easily digested the decadent food. The place is a tight squeeze in a lot of areas with multiple levels and views in an old building that has history and charm. Would definitely come here again.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Server was amazing - helpful, friendly... Food was very tasty. We had lunch there before a show at the Playhouse. Con: old building built on hill - has many steps outside and inside. Not good for wheelchairs or mobility issues.

John C.

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite and my wife's favorite places to go, I went there yesterday to celebrate her birthday. She loves the lemon drop martini, And to be honest with you, the food is pretty good there however, we had a bartender by the name of Graham, and he actually had a personality of a rock, let me rephrase that ,, a rock had a better personality than he did, kind of a wise ass personality , and because of Graham, we will no longer be going back!!!!!'

Cara M.

Yelp
TERRIBLE customer service. The pitbull of a hostess refused to allow us to eat. Not like you'd assume, but she actually told us we are not allowed to dine here because we are too large. I have never been so offended in my life. I did not even know a restaurant could be this discriminatory. I am let down in Karla's and the world. I can't even attach a picture because we could not eat. Clearly this place is meant for people of slim stature and my family and I have never been more offended before.

King D.

Yelp
Excellent service. My sister and I decided to check out New Hope for the day and stumbled upon this humble restaurant. I loved the decor as it gave off a vintage vibe and the food was pleasant as well. The shrimp tacos were bright and refreshing on the tongue. The burger was quite delectable and we shared a plate of fries. The restaurant is small but had such a welcoming environment.

Alexis J.

Yelp
I have long awaited to make a YELP, here I am! Karlas o Karlas, after a long day how I cant wait to head on over and get a drink from you! Remember that avocado gazpacho you had on the menu a couple of summers ago? I do ! Perhaps, it's your small garden area in the summer that brings me back to your slightly cold bar in the winter. Either way, it's reassuring to know you're ALWAYS open.

Jerald W.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Very tasty. Ambiance was charming. Service was very good, our server was very attentive and offered suggestions about the menu sand drinks. Enjoyed our dining experience and would go back again.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, great and friendly staff! Managers and owners are always pleasant and informative of menu items and specials. Drinks are very good, best espresso martini in town! Always a great time and pleasure. Nice to have an openly LGBTQIA+ in town.

Mike J.

Yelp
A delightful and cozy cove full of exquisitely flavored meals served from a creative and welcoming menu. You can taste the love in every bite and they have the best buffalo wings I've ever had. Considerate and passionate staff that made the visit all around a must return. Definitely hit this place up if you're shopping and hanging out in downtown New Hope.

Trot F.

Yelp
Nice to the locals, however the food is always mediocre, the margaritas are absolutely awful and no one admits it, but I guess the lack of margaritas in town has skewed most peoples basis. People brag that this place has strong drinks and you only need one. I would rather pay for a well made cocktail that is balanced and tastes good. And somehow every fish dish they have is extremely fishy, even for a salmon. Shrimp tacos are also the dumbest variation of a shrimp taco. Once you hold it in your hand, an ounce of white liquid will spill out, which has little to do flavor. The only dish worth getting is the chicken sandwich. Come for locals night to be disappointed with the most overrated fried chicken, less food options, and a dude that plays the same 10 songs on guitar every night.

Caryn P.

Yelp
From the moment I walked in I loved the atmosphere and decor. We got there right when they opened for lunch and sat in the room by the front windows looking out at the view of New Hope. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Menu looked great it was hard to decide. We started with the soup of the day which was a creamy tomato. Full of flavor and delicious. Then I had the beet salad with whipped goat cheese or ricotta I can't remember but it was Devine! I never knew beets could be this amazing - the whole dish just worked so well, from the crunch of the pistachios to the burst of the mandarin oranges. I think I licked the plate clean. Then the shrimp tacos - which is something I love to order when I'm out at a lunch if it's on the menu. This was one of the best I've had. So much flavor and just fresh all around. I cannot wait to go back and try more menu items. A must visit when in New Hope !

Sean R.

Yelp
What can I say about a long-time New Hope staple that hasn't already been said? It's a great spot for a date, catching up with friends over a meal, a birthday dinner, etc. The service has always been solid, the food consistently good, the drinks on the money, and the atmosphere casual and fun. This spot still packs them in, and for good reason. I always look forward to my next time at Karla's, no matter the reason. Consistency is key in a tough market and/or a tough industry, and they have the staying power for good reason.

Lora Ann N.

Yelp
Usually, my favorite place to go well in new Hope the martinis are always good The bartender needs a personality. I had lipstick on my glass and had to get another drink. The calamari was good however it was mostly tentacles so we didn't eat the whole thing we will come back however hope chris is there.

Angie B.

Yelp
Such a great find! It was crowded in New Hope Memorial Day weekend and restaurants were turning over tables left and right. We walked by quite a few, rejecting menus, but landed here. We got an outside table which included shade but a great view of the busy sidewalks in New Hope. We started with the poutine. So good! The fries were delicious and the short rib and cheese curds were perfect! My coconut margarita was delicious and strong! My daughter and I thought we would order two different sandwiches and split them but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we never got around to finishing more than the half of our sandwiches. I ordered the short rib burger with fried egg and it was delicious! She ordered the portobello burger and it was so good! The mushroom tasted meaty and flavored so well! This was a great stop! So glad we landed here!

Jongeui P.

Yelp
It is a cute restaurant like a coffee shop in college town . I visited on Sunday lunch and it was busy. The service was pretty quick and the food was very good ! We ordered homemade fries that was delicious and also ordered a classic burger and a Brie bacon onion jam burger that comes with big portions of fresh salads , really good . They know how to make fresh salads ! It was delicious. When I entered the restaurant, I could smell delicious food . It could be a good restaurant for young couple, family and friends. I will come back again .

Marlene W.

Yelp
My friends and I met here for brunch and conversation. We enjoyed the atmosphere, wait staff and the food was very flavorful and plentiful.

Michael E.

Yelp
Excellent food! Great ambiance! Right in the heart of New Hope! Romantic spot! Just happened upon this gem! Love it

Mike H.

Yelp
Very nice brunch and atmosphere at this small, well-decorated cafe. Good food and vibes.

Camille R.

Yelp
Karla's is amazing! Never disappointing! From the martini's, blood orange and cream sickle to 4 cheese Mac and cheese and green gazpacho soup ( hint of pineapple) delicious! Pork chop entree fabulous! Visit New Hope and go to Karla's... it's a must!

Ronald K.

Yelp
Cute place that has survived many recessions, Covid and several local downturns, and for good reason. Food is consistently good and damn those drinks are strong!

Joe K.

Yelp
Great place. Quintessential New Hope brunch. And frequenting for years always great meal and ambience.

Robert D.

Yelp
Love this, this is my goto place whenever out of towners stop in to see me. Everything is always perfect.

Philip R.

Yelp
Fairly enjoy monday night's local menu. Three course meal for less than twenty five dollars, which include super salad on tray and a dessert and coffee. Yum!

Mike D.

Yelp
Karla's is a unique place in a great location right in the heart of New Hope. Cool vibe, with two levels of seating and a small outdoor seating area. There is a small bar, six seats. Food has always been very good, recently we had the chicken sandwich ...which was very tender and a great saw on top, and the salmon entree which was great....unique presentation, served on top of a thin layer of clam chowder, very good.

May N.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a lunch break or for drinks and apps. In this visit it was definitely for lunch. My boyfriend and I stopped here for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Ok we stopped here an hour too early for lunch but that was ok we just went walking more on the towpath as it was a great day out. Why not find another restaurant that was opened you may ask?!? Well my bf saw the short rib, fried egg burger and that was all she wrote! The burger did not disappoint and were sharers and the first thing outta his mouth was maybe you should get your own. Lol - we of course did not but he was right we soooo should have. Think perfectly cooked n seasoned medium rare burger topped with the most amazing tender short rib and topped off w/again a perfectly cooked fried egg on a nicely grilled brioche bun! Are you salivating yet? You should be because it's that good!!! The pics don't do it justice yes I'm posting more than one pic of the same burger!! We also ordered the wings and seasonal drinks. So why the 4 stars partially bc the seasonal drinks won't be available to order later ... I loved the pomegranate orange it was so refreshing and thinking it'd be a great summer drink too! My bf had the eggnog martini and he almost drank that way before we got any food!

Meredith R.

Yelp
Karla's is a cozy restaurant; a good refuge on a chilly day. During covid I keep my distance from other diners, and was delighted when a server offered a table upstairs, away from really everyone! (Note that when the weather is conducive, you can sit outside.) The chicken sandwich -- my husband got one too -- was not overly fried, and perfect for lunch with its green apple slaw and chipotle aioli. We added an order of fries; I think it was $8 for more potatoes than we could eat. They were a bit limp and greasy. My friend's mac n cheese was topped with panko, prepared with what tasted like a variety of cheeses. She liked it. I didn't. We shared a bottle of malbec, which rounded out a good meal. BTW, our server was friendly and efficient, but not masked.

Fran H.

Yelp
This was definitely not a favorite spot. New Hope has some quaint charm and a few spots to go for breakfast and brunch. We arrived at 10:00am there were plenty of tables open. The overall vibe was awkward with the host from the start . The host kept Pointing at table asking do you like this , how about this , this one , how's this. We were handed some paper menus that were all grease and food stained. I'm definitely not that picky but do better. There were a sampling of savory and sweet options on the menu but all standard fare nothing was overly special. We opted for the standard Karla's breakfast two eggs meat and toast after the biscuits and gravy were sold out. We also opted for the bagel sandwich. We also had the "house peppered" bacon. The breakfast was lackluster at best. The bagel sandwich had one thin slice of pork roll with unmelted cheese on a stale bagel. Super disappointed at the quality or lack of quality of the food. Even the lemon in the drink seemed old and slimy. The restaurant is deceivingly larger than it appears from the street . It has good bones but it needs a good coat of paint and a stat clean. This is a restaurant bar but definitely the bar side stands out. No plan to return here. There has to be better options in New Hope for breakfast. As we were leaving at 11 am the host told a patron that breakfast was nearly over so when they sat down they had to immediately decide what they are having. Really rude comment.... Since your sign clearly stated 11:30 breakfast. I didn't take pics of the food there was no bother it was more important for you to see the environment you will be dining in. 38.00 all in !

Lex M.

Yelp
A cozy place with frendly service. I ordered their burger with short rib and an egg on top. French fries were extra $10, so the burger ended up being much more expensive than I am used to. The burger itself was on a snaller size, 8 ounces not the usual 12 but it was good. The fries were not and tasted like they were cooked in rancid oil. We left them on the table untouched, I hope the owners & the cook got the hint. We also ordered calamari apetizer and it was simply excellent. The Philly cheesesteak was borderline ok. Their coffee martini was pricey but very good. Would I go their again? Maybe just for calamari.

Joan B.

Yelp
Cute atmosphere! Maybe, because it was one of the first nice Saturdays in awhile and they weren't accustomed to being busy, but horrible service! Server was so miserable, obviously did not want to be there! I have news for you, we would have preferred if you weren't there, as well. Keep your grumpy ass home!! Food was mediocre with the exception of the calamari. Which were surprisingly delicious! Cooked properly, too! My bf, ordered burger med-rare. Came out well done, extremely overcooked! Sent it back and literally 2 minutes layer he received his 'new" burger, which was 100% RAW! Of course, he did not eat it and rightfully so, it was removed from the check. My guess is they really do not care, nor do they need to because restaurant was super busy. And, has been a mainstay in New Hope. Actually, I tind majority of the restrain this beautiful bit "touristy " town are all about the same. Very mediocre food and service, and unfortunately, they do not need to do better, because always busy. Shame on you for not caring!!!!

Jehann D.

Yelp
This place caught my eye because it looked more intimate and casual than others around. The service was quick and friendly which I appreciated as a visitor of the town! The food was good for its value as well, drinks are a bit $$$

Chele H.

Yelp
Suggestion made by the staff at the playhouse and we were very happy with our choice to follow thru. Drinks were great (and strong!). Service was fast and attentive without hovering. Curb side it feels like maybe it's a florist or the like instead you find this quiet (we got in before a dinner rush) like bistro atmosphere. Love the display of inclusiveness at the host stand. Meal was tasty. Ordered the turkey burger which was huge. I would suggest having a fork and knife handy instead of trying to eat it on the bun. We were so full we skipped dessert. Oh, and the basket of fries - they aren't kidding - that is a shared item.

Michael D.

Yelp
One of my family's favorites.. We usually go on Monday's Locals Night. Martinis and Margs are great and we enjoy the food and service.

Bill S.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast this morning. Our waiter David was wonderful. Very attentive but not overbearing. We were seated promptly. I enjoyed a breakfast of sausage gravy over biscuits, topped with poached eggs and delicious side of redskin home fries. My dining companion had an omelette with roasted red peppers, spinach and ricotta. Food was delicious. They only do breakfast Saturday mornings from 7 AM to 11 AM and they have a Sunday brunch starting at 10 AM. We'll be back.

Natalie C.

Yelp
Sadly, from the moment we walked in the wait staff was rude and unpleasant as we got seated. For the first 15 minutes we were totally ignored even though there was a table being helped right across from us. The food here was the only saving grace here, but that alone couldn't compensate from how sour our experience was. The Bloody Mary was really quite good and the French onion soup was a great balance, not too salty, perfectly cheesy bowl. It's a bummer because we definitely will not be coming back.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Laid back atmosphere and great service. Burger and French Onion soup were delicious. Mocktail list was a nice touch.

Sam H.

Yelp
Was happy to make the decision to come here. I spent the day in New Hope/ Lambertville with my Girlfriend and her mom, we stumbled upon this aesthetically looking restaurant. Gave it a shot and everything was good. Price wasn't bad at all, considering we got three drinks from the bar, 1 app, and three entrees. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting New Hope!

Michele J.

Yelp
What can I say...third visit here. Just love this place. Came this time with a group of friends - bar hoping. It was crowded this particular weekend (5/15) and thank god we made reservations. The waiter took us right in and sat us in the center of the restaurant where we could still people watch but still feel have a conversation without everyone in your mouth/meal. We ordered a round of drinks which were good and cold. Our entrees: fish, burgers, salmon with sides. When ever in New Hope this is my go to place for great vibes with homey a feeling.
