The 14 Most Iconic Dishes In Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"Ask any Texan: the klobasnek is iconic. And in Houston, the best place to find one is The Original Kolache Shoppe. By 7am, a line forms, and folks are grabbing hot kolaches by the dozen. We like the classic smoked sausage and cheese with a 1:1 bread-to-meat ratio (one part sweet, puffy bread to one part snappy kielbasa) or the triangle-shaped kolaches stuffed with jam or cream. Ordering just one is a waste of a trip." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi

Google
The best Kolaches on earth. The staff is amazing and the iced coffee is delicious. Doughnuts arenon point too. It's a small location though so they run out of dougnuts fast. They do always seem to have plenty of Kolaches and a super huge selection of delicious flavors like philly and boudin to name a few. The Best is THE REAL SMOKED SAUSAGE

Google
It was an amazing place to go but they have a policy to not give a full cup of coffee when you ask for little to no ice even though everyone knows that the full cup of ice gives you half the product your paying for so unfortunately I will now be returning to this establishment…..

They have so many different flavors of kolaches and they had a Kronut that was delicious. Great family own business and pricing was reasonable. This is a great quick breakfast spot

Google
Awesome kola cheese place. Premium service and good at great prices. Would highly recommend to give them a try.

For the years we’ve been coming here I can’t believe I haven’t given it a review yet! You don’t need any other donut shop if you have this location in your neighborhood. The Kronut (Croissant Donut) is their staple and while it’s a sugar coated adventure for your mouth…kolaches are also top tier. Not just your normal selections of kolaches but add in sausage and gravy, brisket, grits and sausage, etc. Customer service as well being top tier. I feel that they understand what you are going thru in the mornings and work hard at making your morning a happy one every time. Remembering as many faces as they can and making everyone feel like part of the family. A really top tier place and wish yall all the success!

Google
Kolaches here are great! The egg, cheese, and grits kolache is super cheesy if that's your thing. The sausage and gravy is the perfect amount of sweet from the bun and salty from the sausage. It's creamy and doughy which I love. They have a variety of premium kolaches to try as well as breakfast sandwiches and their popular kronut. I've never had a drink from here but they do have coffee drinks available.

Google
Very good kolache and doughnut shop. They have a great variety of kolaches. I've never seen some of the combinations available - cheese grits (yum!). They offer 2 sizes in some of the kolache flavors and the small sizes are decent size. Personally I don't care for the kolaches; they are too 'doughy' for my taste. The doughnuts are light, flavorful and delicious but come before 9 because they run out of a lot of the doughnut flavors by then. There are also croissant breakfast sandwiches (ham & swiss is a popular one in my house), cronuts and 2 flavors of doughnut holes (glazed and red velvet). They prepare speciality coffees and also have refrigerated items with milk, juices, etc. The the employees are pleasant. The restaurant is always clean. If you have the Five Stars rewards app it is accepted. You earn points for a free doughnut/s, kolache/s, doughnut holes and iced coffee. They also will reward a surprise limited time offer for BOGO free kolache in the app.

Google
Great service. Fresh donuts and an awesome ambiance. I heard so many great things about the new remodel of this location, so I had to visit. Karma Kolache offers an assortment of kolaches from ones filled with Boudain to pulled pork. The donuts were moist and they have some really good red velvet donut holes. You can also order coffee or other beverages. You can also get ice cream as well. The service was good.

Yelp
I decided at the last minute to grab donuts for work. Mostly I dreamed about the cro-nuts. It's a croissant made into a donut. As soon as I saw they had enough of those, I was happy. Service was quick and the donuts were fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Really good! This place was a good break from the typical chain restaurants that you can get kolaches and donuts. They have good variety and everything seemed very fresh. Staff was also very welcoming

Yelp
Don't bother. I really wanted to love this place, but we didn't. I thought the beef kielbasa wasn't bad, but the chicken and feta and spinach version was virtually empty of the ingredients and any chicken in there was very dry and so I actually had to throw it away. Mr. Picky loves cinnamon rolls but these had virtually NO cinnamon flavor. What's that about? We thought the "cinnamon" roll might rate as the worst we've ever had. Somebody had mentioned a nice little seating area and that was a total joke as it was dirty and the seat padding had worn out which left one sitting on some kind of wooden frame or something. They need to fix this place up. The good news was that Mr. Picky thought the bathroom was clean. There is a constant flow of traffic in and out, and maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but I'm not sure why people are coming here and rating it so high. Overall, not worth another visit. Shame as I'd been looking forward to trying the place.

Yelp
Best treat to give myself... No joke a grits, cheese, and egg kolaches mira you make it it will come

Yelp
GO! That's the message! Just GO! Go for breakfast, brunch, YES! Get the coffee get the Kolache's & the donuts GO GO GO! First bite I said "oh yes, I'll be back tomorrow" The Thai tea was fantastic ! I also had a regular latte, NICEEEE The service was great. It's kind of small inside so don't expect to sit down me eat BUT be close enough in case you wanna go back in and buy more! I can assure you, YOU WILL! The strawberry donut TASTED like a nice strawberry! It was perfectly glazed omg! Just thinking about it oooooo! I had 3 donuts and 1 Kolache (the beef kielbasas one) and I didn't feel nasty afterwards or on a nasty sugar rush which later turns into a crash. It was the perfect amount of satisfaction & more joy than I can explain. JUST GO! You're welcome in advance! I cannot wait for breakfast tomorrow! Here are photos from today.

Yelp
One word, well one item... Spicy Boudin Kolache. I have yet to try the doughnuts, but I was told by a coworker that they have these Boudain Kolaches and these were amazing. So if you are ever near this place and are reading this review, do yourself a favor and get yourself a spicy boudin kolache.
google avatar

Yelp
I have tried a lot of kolaches throughout the city and I can honestly say this is one of the best. The bread was soft with a little crust that gave a nice crunch. The croissant sandwhich and donut hole where perfect. The only down side was that my blueberry cake donut seemed to be cooked a bit to long. All in all I will order from them again.

Yelp
In the mood for something simultaneously sweet and savory? What about a great breakfast dish that doesn't require any utensils (maybe just a napkin to hold it with if you desire)? Got your attention yet? Karma Kolache is a great place to pick up a yummy treat... or two. The staff member was quite nice, friendly and polite. After taking a long look at all of the offerings (and noticing that weren't many plant-based options) , I selected cheese-egg and grits and eggs, cheese and potatoes kolaches. Unfortunately, I was told that the former was not available, but the latter was. So, I grabbed that, a strawberry and cream cheese pastry (looked similar to a turnover), and a vanilla iced coffee. My total came to just under $12 (including 15% tip). While I waited for my items to be warmed, I had the opportunity to check out the cute seating area, coffee cart, and eyecatching artwork. It looks like a great place to have a small, intimate book club meeting.. or first date.. I was very excited to try the kolache, but confused and somewhat disappointed to have received a potato, egg, and cheese instead of a cheese-egg and grits kolache. Don't get me wrong, it was still delightful, but my taste buds were excited to try grits within a kolache. I must also note that I would've preferred a little bit more filling as the savory notes were being overtaken by the sweet taste of the bread. I had a great experience overall and will likely return soon.

Yelp
Amazing, friendly customer service! I am always greeted not by just one employee but, every employee, when I walk into the store. Prices are completely affordable for the amount of food you receive. The Kolaches are huge and absolutely delicious! The dough used for the Kolaches is awesome, not too dry and not too sweet! I hadn't been to this location since their soft opening weekend a few years back, but I will definitely be stopping a lot more often! Make sure to try their red velvet donut holes! Best kolache place in Houston, hands down!

Nivram J.

Yelp
Multiple choices of Kolaches and Bagels to donut's. The coffee and chocolate is Hot and The Milk is cold! Need to hurry because they run out of almost everything really fast.

Yelp
Stopped by to try a new Kolache spot and 4.5 stars is incredibly overrated. Now the service was very nice. Friendly. Patient. All the things you want from the customer service side. The food however... it's just not good. Sadly. They have a lot of options so MAYBE I tried the wrong things but when bacon egg and cheese is barely edible you know something is amiss. Tried a couple options. BEC as listed above as well as sausage taco and a couple cronuts. The cronuts were a little odd because they were glazed. Very tough dough and heavy handed on the vanilla. All in all. Not for me. But needs a second chance in the future.

Amber S.

Yelp
This is our go to birthday donut spot and they never disappoint! And the service is always excellent.

Danielle N.

Yelp
AMAZING SERVICE! GREAT DRINKS! AND LIFE CHANGING KOLACHES!!!!!! This sweet shop is very generous with adding in the extras. You'll get free donuts, donut holes, and other things when purchasing with them. You can tell it's a great team making all the food and drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
I probably live about 10 donut/kolache shops away from here but I drive the extra few miles and pass up those other shops to get what I really want. That's how much I enjoy their offerings. I always get the same thing. Chicken feta kolaches and red velvet donut holes. This kolache I swear has an entire chicken breast in it! I recently discovered the apple fritter that's unlike any other. It seems they may soak it in a maple syrup to give it that extra kick because it's pretty tasty. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program. I recently received half off my order and free donut holes!

Yelp
I'm leaving a 3 star review only because I'm forced to leave a tip. I hate sneaky tactics. it's quite annoying. The prices have already increased, and it feels like they're nickel and diming me. It's a shame, because the food here is great. I just don't feel like I should have to leave a tip on top of the increased prices.

Yelp
We walked in here at 6:30am and were pleasantly greeted by the owner. The kolaches are fresh and delicious. Now me being a true New Yorker I could not drink the coffee, they didn't even have half and half.. They had those creamer cups...gross. Let's not focus on that, we are in Texas, down here only Dunkin and Black Rifle coffee is decent. But the selection of kolaches was great. My wife and I do not eat pork bit we were still able to pick out a bunch of suitable choices. The donuts were very good as well. We are here for another 4 days and we will definitely be stopping by to grab breakfast again.

Dominic S.

Yelp
Great quality bread compared to the factory. They're super polite and pleased to serve you. And the design inside is very zen.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! I've been wanting to try this place for a very long time, and I'm so glad I did. I don't think I will ever go to another kolache place again. The kolaches are the BEST I've ever had! I had the pulled pork, jalapeno popper, and baked scalloped potato kolaches. The bread was fresh and super soft! Love it. The pulled pork was perfect. I can't wait to go back to try everything else.
google avatar

Kalista D.

Yelp
The best kolaches I've ever had! I love the sausage and gravy one, but they are really all good and I can eat them for breakfast or lunch. I usually make it by lunch time. They are usually out of some of them by that time, but I understand why. I wish there was one a little closer to me. I'll keep going back though!
google avatar

Latreca W.

Yelp
This is a quaint little place! Love the set up, atmosphere, vibe, selection, customer service and prices! Let's get to the food! My goal was to get me a boudain Kolache. Love the fact that they had spicy and mild. I got spicy. Absolutely wonderful! Spicy, flavorful, completely stuffed inside a buttery flaky croissant like pouch. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Y'all. This place is so delicious! I am so glad they opened this location. It helps to justify my breakfast choices when the drive is 10 minutes to this location versus the 20 minutes to the original location. I'm in love with their creative kolache flavors and while all of the ones I've tried have been delicious, my favorite will forever be the spicy boudin. My daughter is obsessed with their mac and cheese kolache and I always try to get a more meaty filled kolache like the Jimmy Dean or pulled pork kolache to obviously make the otherwise carby meal well-balanced and protein filled. They don't skimp on their fillings for sure, so one kolache is definitely satisfying. However, I'm pretty sure you'll want to stock up and try all the yummy flavors. The first time we visited this location, we tried a Karma Kake filled with rocky road and banana pudding ice cream. You guys! It was amazing! You'd think that a donut packed with ice cream and toppings would be way over the top, but somehow it worked. It wasn't cloyingly sweet and like their kolaches, they had the perfect dough to filling ratio. Their service has ALWAYS been impeccable at either location and you know the one thing that can ruin any meal is bad service. The staff is always so friendly, kind, and make you feel like you're family. One way they have stood apart is by offering a reward system for coming. I love the random free donut or BOGO texts I get. They are very generous and makes it even easier to stop by. The last point I'll make (if you aren't already heading there) is that their donuts are SO light, flaky, and rich. KOLACHE PLACES AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE GOOD DONUTS! But they are so, so good! Run, don't walk, to Karma Kolache. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
Karma is one of the best kolache places ever, hands down! They have a huge variety of kolaches. From your normal sausage cheese kolache to a Philadelphia cheesesteak kolache. They also have a good selection of donuts. From glazed, to flavored, to filled, to kronuts. The prices are really hard to beat too because it's so cheap! This is what we got: Jumbo Jalepeno Sausage Cheese Kolache - 5/5 The kolache was good and not too doughy. I liked that it was kind of crispy on the outside but super soft on the inside. This is one of the best kolache doughs ever. Kronut - 4/5 What is a kronut? A croissant and a donut together! With the texture of a croissant and the taste and glaze of a donut. I wished that it was a little bit more crispy and flaky as a croissant. Chocolate Donut - 5/5 It's kinda hard to mess up a chocolate donut. So, this was a good simple donut. Soft inside and out! Red Velvet Donut Holes - 3/5 This was okay. I really had high expectations for these because I've heard such great things about it. Last time I was here, I asked for them and they said that they were already sold out (and it was around 8am). They were kind of dry and I could barely taste the red velvet. I would recommend having like a cream cheese filling on the inside! Overall, this is a great family owned kolache shop. They have a great variety of kolaches and donuts, so it's difficult to find something that doesn't suit your taste buds. Try out this place!

Yelp
Perfect doughnuts. Fast and friendly. Good variety. Lots of Kolaches. I will be coming back.

Yelp
Owners know you by name, even if it's been a while. Best variety of donuts, kolaches and other items. Sooo yummy! Great service.

Yelp
It's alright. I don't quite understand what all the hype is about with either Karma or Koala. I sampled 5 kolaches, a dozen donut holes, and the cronuts. The kolaches we're average at best. I'd choose Kolache Factory any day. They could use a little more flavor inside all of them and the bread gets a little soggy. Donut holes taste like typical donut holes from any little donut shop or grocery store. Shipleys is way better. But the cronuts? They were amazing! So good! And the coffee was also really, really good. I feel the exact same about Koala Kolache (I gave it 4 tries before deciding it wasnt my thing) because they taste almost identical to each other. So if I go back to either it will just be for a cup of coffee and a cronut or three.

Yelp
Sometimes you get really lucky and stumble into an establishment full of splendor and deliciousness. You walk away feeling full and satisfied. You write a review, give it 4 stars, and recommend it to your friends. You say it's cute or well-decorated. Maybe you even say it's hip. Other times you walk into that kind of place and the service makes it a completely different experience -- one that begs you condemn your friends if they don't visit. Karma is that place. Seriously, get off your butts and try this place. Everything is delicious and you definitely need to try as much as you can, but you'll likely walk away more impressed with the staff's level of care and service. The whole package is just excellent. Everything is fresh, their dough is soft and delicious, they have dozens of options, prices are great, the space is clean and inviting. It's all just great. I've visited twice since discovering it and i know for sure I'll be visiting every time I visit Houston.

Yelp
Carbs are your friend! At least these are. I have frequented this location a few times in the past couple of weeks for both breakfast and lunch. Everyone behind the counter is really friendly. Deals are to be had if you enter your phone number into their system. I have not walked out without getting a free "something" each visit. :) The dough, for both the donuts and the kolaches, is slightly sweetened making everything simply irresistible. My favorite kolache has been the sausage, cheese and roasted potato. Favorite sweet- the cinnamon roll!
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Great cute place that has awesome kolaches. The traditional sausage and jalapeño are great. I also had the pulled pork which was awesome and their donuts were good today. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Sweet mother of baby Jesus this place is GOLDEN!!!! The people that work in side are vary down to earth and even gave both my children a free donut to start. Lol I suggest either the spicy Boudin kolache or the sausage and gravy kolache was out of this world. Ps. We came 45 mins from Montrose to have these :)
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so amazing, I love coming here because there are so many choices to choose from and the Kronut is so delicious, definitely a must try!

Yelp
If you haven't tried Karma Kolache yet...you are missing out!! Ordered 4 dozen stuffed donut holes for a "Diapers & Donuts" Baby Shower - 1 dozen red velvet with cream cheese filling, 1 dozen cinnamon sugar with nutella filling, 1 dozen glazed with Bavarian cream filling and 1 dozen powdered with lemon curd...all were fresh and delicious!! While I was there to pick up my order, decided to try their kolaches...Philly cheeseteak, Sweet Brisket, Sausage and gravy, egg, cheese and grits and boudin) all were very filling and a big hit with my 3 boys!!! Very clean and great customer service!!! And...they have kronuts and kronuts holes...YUM!!! Thanks Peace...we will be coming back soon!!

Yelp
Pros: This place is every bit as amazing as the in town places and could go toe to toe with any of the shops within the loop. Cons: You'll go here every weekend and I have to workout more. This place deserves all the yeses. As a connoisseur of donuts & kolaches, we've tried a bunch of places. Typically, they're the traditional mom & pop shop with the usual fare. What sets Karma apart is that they have the traditional stuff + some interesting varieties. AND they're all good. There's not a single dud in the bunch. AND they're fresh every single time. Not once have I suspected that something was leftover or getting stale. Kolaches I love: the feta, chicken & spinach; pizza; and egg & sausage. We usually get those, plus a few sausage jalapeno kolaches, red velvet donut holes, a kronut, and blueberry cake donuts (a must). So now you know why we workout.

Jas K.

Yelp
I love this place. I don't live in Houston but every time I'm here I stop by. The kolaches are baked to perfection! The service is A1
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Hands down the best Kolaches in the area! I brought in my kids and their friends ranging in age from 1-12. The little ones got donuts and when they accidentally dropped them on the ground they not only replaced but added an extra! I got a sausage and gravy and a brisket. The older ones got boudin regular and spicy. They were all great! The dough is different than you find at Kolache factory and we all thought it was amazing! Management is friendly and this place is super cute definitely not your average Kolache/donut shop!
google avatar

Hanniel B.

Yelp
All I can say is "Yes, yes, and yes!" This place, from the first look, is already aesthetically pleasing. When you walk in, you'll see rows of varied kolaches--your usual sausage and cheese or their unique flavors like mac n' cheese and brisket. On the left, you'll see a nicely decorated area with places to sit on and socialize. Another thing that made this place stand out is their employees! They were both very accommodating and kindly gave us their suggestions when we asked them which one they liked. Unlike the other places that would skimp out on you on free stuff, one of the employees even gave us an extra donut when my friend and I were conflicted on which one to get. Lastly, and the most important part, the food. It was glorious. I couldn't even wait to eat when they gave me my food. My friend and I got the mac n cheese, philly cheese steak, boudin, and the cream of mushroom chicken. Out of all the we tried, the one I liked the most most was the cream of mushroom chicken. All the kolaches had a lot of filling but this one in particular just had really good flavor and different textures. This already got too long so I'll end with this: I will totally be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I heard about Karma Kolache from the Nextdoor app, so I decided to stop in. It's a cute little kolache shop. I love how it's decorated. Think kolache boutique. The kolaches are AMAZING!! I picked several for the family to sample ... pulled pork, brisket, pepperoni, Philly cheese steak, and traditional sausage and cheese. We enjoyed every single one. Oh, and I put in my phone number at the counter and got a free kolache.
google avatar

Danielle V.

Yelp
We ordered donuts and kolaches this morning, we did contactless delivery through yelp/grub hub. It was awesome! One flavor we ordered was out, so they called us and substituted our order. They were really friendly! The kolaches are SO good. We ordered boudin, chorizo egg & cheese, Philly cheesesteak, brisket and regular sausage and cheese. We were all super happy with our orders! The donuts and the cronut were delicious too! We totally forgot to take pictures because everything smelled so good and we literally inhaled our food. We'll definitely be ordering again!

Yelp
Major props to this establishment!!! They tried to stay open as much possible and as long as possible to serve the community and all the local law enforcement, first responders, fire department, etc. as soon as it was safe to re-open! They are truly remarkable since it hadn't been open long, only recently celebrated their grand opening, and then Hurricane Harvey landed in Houston! Thankfully it doesn't look like they sustained any serious damages, but might I say they are the friendliest staff and owners I've ever met! Smiles on their faces and so generous + kind! It was my first time ever visiting this place, and the owner is so genuine + kind! It was my birthday that day,, and they sure made it easy for me to start my day off on the right foot! They're kolaches are amazing! The spinach + feta is amazing, spicy sausage and cheese, and so much more! They even have ice cream donuts!!! My next purchase will definitely be the jalapeño popper! Love this place and will definitely be returning! Oh! The red velvet donut holes are a must!!! Instead of traditional cream cheese, it's more of a custard filling! A bit sweeter than your traditional donut hole, but surprisingly it's really good :)

Yelp
I came to this spot several times so I think it is about time I give them a review. The staff are exceptional and friendly. However I can see maybe a language barrier from one of the staff there (I came today) because I ordered 3 regular glazed donuts and ended up with 3 chocolate donuts instead. Funny because I was offered a free donut, and I chose a chocolate to try. If I have known to check the bag I would have seen that I only ended up with chocolate donuts. Overall, the chocolate donut was delicious but I preferred the regular glazed one. It was soft inside and out and not overly sweet. I don't know what they put in their dough but I enjoyed every bite. As for their kolaches I can only speak for the following: Scalloped potatoes kolache - this I did not enjoy at all. I was a bit disappointed since I love potatoes for breakfast. This particular kolache was not freshly made and it sort of tasted bitter. Maybe I got a bad one from the bunch but I probably won't order this again. Small sausage and cheese kolache- these were tasteful and enjoyable. The dough was soft and had some sweetness in the texture. The meat and bread ratio was not bad (some places have too much bread). When I am craving a donut or sausage and cheese kolache. I will most likely swing by again.

Yelp
What a hidden gem in cypress ! I have lived on the area for 12 years and never noticed the shopping strip .delicious sums the cute , quant spot up hate that I just found this place

Yelp
I drive from hockley to come here! Love this place! All of their kolaches are amazing, especially the stuffed jalapeño Kolache! Everything I've gotten has always been fresh and delicious! Oh and the coffee, don't forget to try it, so good. The staff is very pleasant and always interactive the kiddos. Thank you for your professionalism, great customer service and delicious food!

Yelp
I know everyone talks about their kolaches, which are definitely good and there's an amazing, creative selection, BUT... THEIR DONUTS, PEOPLE. EAT THEIR DONUTS. Karma's donuts are the perfect amount of soft, airy, and fluffy. Not too airy like Krispy Kreme --- these still have some height and decent consistency. But not too dense, either. Perfect.
google avatar

Colleen P.

Yelp
LOVE the kolaches!! So many different and non traditional kolaches. The cronuts are average at best... too sweet for me. Regardless of the food, the SERVICE is AMAZING and their marketing techniques alone on social media is 5 star worthy!!

Yelp
I stopped to grab kolaches for my office. Whoa. This place is pretty awesome. They have a cheese grit kolache!! Heck yes. I mean I love a good kolache so I tried the Jimmy Dean. Hard yes. Get the Jimmy Dean. So they also have all the regulars. I was gonna get a couple dozen. Ended up with three dozen. They gave me a mixed bag of maybe 2 dozen donut holes for free. There were all sorts in there. Red velvet? German chocolate? The people in my office can't stop talking about these kolaches. Give this place a try. Service super friendly and prices the norm so definitely worth it for the awesome variety.

Brittany B.

Yelp
I decided to try this place twice before reviewing...well I've been three times now and loved it. The staff is always super friendly. The place is reallt cute. Most kolache/donut spots do very little in terms of decoration. Typically it's just a few old chairs and tables. This place looked clean and welcoming with a cute little seating area. It doesn't hurt that they might have the best kolaches I have tasted. The bread is a little sweet like a Hawaiian roll. They also have tons of flavors and sell sweets including cronuts and donuts. The one thing that almost brought down my rating is the coffee. I am picky about my coffee though. When I saw signs stating gourmet coffees, I assumed I would have a barista tamping freshly ground beans and steaming my milk to perfection. It was more like a huge machine with various buttons used to select lattes vs cappuccinos. After seeing this thing, I expected it to taste like a gas station cappuccino. Nope. I tried a caramel machiatto and it was actually suprisingly good. Basically this place is awesome. Great kolaches but my main reason for a high rating was the friendly service every day that I went. Nothing but positive vibes from Karma Kolache.

Yelp
I just left this place a few minutes ago. I was so excited to visit this place after seeing it on Yelp yesterday. So let me start by saying how nice the shop looked on the interior and oh the numerous kolache selections they have. What a treat !!! I I just ate the grits and eggs kolache recommended by the nice owner. Let me just say that thing was so good. It was so filling and the grits were so moist. I have several others to try the pepperoni, philly cheeese steak, boudin and I do believe they will not disappoint. But let's move get to the donuts...I told them if the blueberry passed my test because I am a blueberry donut lover that they have a new customer. Well OMG.. that blueberry donut was moist and delicious.. I am sold . This place is awesome and not let me forget the yummy stuffed donut holes. This is literally the best donut shop on the northwest side. I don't have to go all the way to the Heights anymore for Gourmet and I do mean Gourmet Kolaches and donuts. Also the owners were extremely nice and smiling. They made you feel welcome. Thank you for talking to me and recommending the Grits and egg kolache. You both were great and you just got yourself a new customer!! Please make sure you go try them out. They will not disappoint!!!

Yelp
When we first moved to Texas everyone asked us if we had tried a kolache before. No, we hadn't and to us it sounded like a disease, "I have the kolaches." Until we had learned they were "gourmet" versions of pigs in a blanket. So I am gluten free and can't find a thing here I can eat besides the drinks. That being said, my whole family loves this place. I went here to get my husband a kolache. The long row of very unique kinds is impressive. The Mac and cheese kolache was the one husband swooned over. Try have a limited selection of donuts but the koloche is the star here. They were very friendly, helpful and the decor and setup was surprisingly upscale and nice for the area we were in. The gas station next door kind of looks like the kind of place you would get mugged at, so hold on to your purse as you walk in, but your safe once you have made it in. :) put in your phone number and you get a free kolache! One last tip: go there early or call ahead to have them save you a donut or kolache if you have a specific one in mind. The speciality ones go quick. But if you call ahead they told me they would save us one.
