Whether it’s the Hudson roll (salmon, avocado, cream cheese, crunch inside topped with mango, yellow tobiko, mango sauce, and spicy shrimp), Ruby (spicy tuna, asparagus, cucumber, and crunch inside topped with black pepper tuna, avocado, and red tobiko, with unique sauces), or vegan Jungle (sweet potato and broccoli tempura and mango topped with avocado and special sauce), sushi lovers will find surprising new flavor combinations that will create a yearning to cross Alligator Alley again and again." - Alona Martinez

Google
A truly secret gem only minutes from downtown Sarasota. This is by far the best sushi I've had in the entire state of Florida. Fresh, high quality, and good portions. Very fast and great service. If you're looking for your new favorite sushi spot... you HAVE to try out Kasa. You will not be disappointed.

We came here with Hubby's friend for dinner. The place looked very secluded. Nothing was going on around the restaurant, just the empty parking lot because it was still early. Surprisingly, the food was excellent! I had salmon hibachi, Hubby got a dragon roll, and our friend got beef and shrimp hibachi. We also got a house salad and agadashi tofu. Of course, I had a hot tea to go with my food. So ok, I could skip agadashi tofu. They made it slightly different here, not quite agadashi tofu. The salad's ginger dressing was excellent. I also got a clear soup, which I thought was quite nice. My hibachi salmon was perfect! I loved the vegetable that was served along with my salmon. Both salmon and vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. Even the teriyaki sauce was excellent too. The dragon roll was amazing! It had eel, cucumber, tobiko, and avocado. Try it! We had Lisa to take care of our table. She was a big help! The restaurant is pretty big. I bet a lot of people come in later. We just happened to be there early. I don’t mind coming back next time to try a different dish. The reviews were right. It was excellent!

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Kasa Sushi Restaurant tonight! I'm visiting from out of town and stay nearby at an airbnb when I'm in town. I've been meaning to try this restaurant and I'll definitely go back! I had the peanut avocado vegetarian roll and cucumber vegetarian roll along with spring rolls and sake. Service was excellent, and I got my food in a flash! They said 15 minutes, and I think it was barely over 5 minutes! The rolls were fantastic, and I'm so excited that there were quite a few vegetarian ones to pick from! Definitely very vegan and vegetarian friendly!

Google
It was an okay experience. The sushi was fresh, but the flavors didn’t really stand out, and some of the rolls felt a bit plain. The atmosphere was nice, but the service was slower than expected, especially for a place that wasn’t too crowded. Prices were on the higher side for what you get. It’s not a bad spot if you're in the area, but there are definitely better sushi places nearby.

Loved this spot! My partner and I came here for dinner the night after getting into town and were extremely happy with how delicious, fresh and filling everything was. Inari sushi is one of my favorite, and theirs are big, full and tasty. Partner got the pork katsu, said it was 9/10 and on par with some of the best places back home for half the price. I’m a bit annoyed at other reviewers chastising the look/feel of the place - it’s small but charming, cozy, and comfortable; nothing too fancy or trying too hard. The young girl is quite obviously trying her best, and was attentive and understandable the entire time. Guess I’m just a bit more empathetic towards family run businesses whose native language isn’t English but who try. Feel like people just need to be a bit more patient and understanding. Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, authentic and down-to-earth Japanese dinner :)

Google
Excellent service and food. Highly recommend 👍start with Treasure Island as appetizer, lunch special is with great value. It comes with salad, soup, & choices of sushi or others!

Google
Almost didn’t dine at KASA due to the esthetic of the building, but after reading a few reviews I decided to check it out. The food was delicious at a very inexpensive price. Service was fast and pleasant. Highly recommend.

Google
We had sushi for dinner. The sushi was quite okay. The flavor is heavy. The waitress (?) I guess it’s a part of owner. It feels odd to see someone to wear a T-shirt and a Birkenstock to serve while the other waitress wore the formal one.

Yelp
Excellent service and food! All 8 rolls we ordered for our big party were fresh and delicious.

Marc W.

Yelp
I ordered the sushi combo b and the presentation was very basic, the drinking water was not filtered and tasted disgusting. I was the only one dining in the restaurant at 6:30 PM and lastly the AC was not set adequately because it was warm and humid, which is totally wrong, especially for a sushi restaurant. The service by the young server was spot on, she did a great job. The sushi tasted good but it was nothing more than fish, rice and wrapped in seaweed. Very basic. This was a one and done for me.

Yelp
Because this is the lowest rate we can provide, this should deserve a 0 star. We walked into this establishment with the expectation of having the best experience but how can we receive that when no one is there to great us at the door? After 10mins of standing, there was a couple that was at a table and said, "we were waiting for over 20mins and sat ourselves". So we did the same. Then after we got seated it took another 10mins before we seen anyone come out to give us a menu. And didn't even get our orders for drinks. So by this time it has been about 20-25mins we have been in the restaurant with no service. Then when we finally seen a server, she immediately went to the couples table that has been sitting there before we arrived (party of 5) and asked for their order of drinks. That's when I knew I had enough. So I asked our party politely if they would like to go somewhere else and it was unanimous to leave. It felt a little off as the ambience felt empty. There was a sign at door saying that last call for food times for lunch and dinner was set for an hour before closing. Dinner closed at 8.......it was 6:10 when we arrived. The sushi chef wasn't even at the bar. The bartender wasn't there either. For goodness sake, the waiter/waitress wasn't there. Idk if this is normal but according to the reviews, this doesn't happen. Maybe one day down the road we will try this place again. For now, this was pretty upsetting.

Yelp
My friend ordered NY Strip steak with rice through the app. Her brother picked it up. And this is what they sent. No New York strip. She spent $26.00 for sushi with imitation crab meat. When she called to complain, she was met with indifference. "Not our problem" they said. She's a VERY POPULAR LOCAL BARTENDER and is letting everyone know NOT to go to this place.

Sam M.

Yelp
Quiet ambiance. Fried gyoza very good appetizer. Chicken Katsu with white rice, salad and soup were very appealing. Chicken Fried Rice was very tasty and plentiful.

Barbara Z.

Yelp
Kasa Sushi is a casual restaurant with excellent sushi and good service. I particularly enjoyed the chicken and shrimp dumpling soup. We ate there on our way to the Ringling on the Bay evening and will make it a regular stop as there are not many places in that area to eat at a very affordable price.

Kent K.

Yelp
You ever notice how you can tell how good the quality of the sushi will be based on how well made the Miso soup is? If you didn't notice this in the past, try it. It seems to me that the care and integrity of the miso just seems to inevitably carry over to the rest of the meal. And, on the other side- if the soup isn't very good....run for the door. Well let me tell you, the Miso soup at Kasa is sublime. And so too was the sushi I had here. Hands down best sushi in Sarasota right now, and I have had them all. Since the first Vizen in Gulf Gate moved on I have tried everything around. None comes as close as Kasa I think and that is saying a lot. Enjoy.

Yelp
I came here with some friends while on vacation. I ordered 3 rolls from their lunch special: spicy salmon, spicy crab, and California. Each roll actually came with 8 pieces. I thought the ingredients were pretty good but definitely not the best I've had.

Laura C.

Yelp
Delicious sushi. Looks like a family owned place, and it had a great vibe. We went for a quick lunch while on vacation. We each got the lunch special, three rolls, soup and salad. We loved it and if we lived in the area, it would be on frequent rotation.

Tom S.

Yelp
A great find for lunch on the North Trail! The sushi is fresh and well-made and the hibachi is amazing as well. They're always really quick too, so it's easy to get in and out when in a hurry.

Pam M.

Yelp
I love this place for their delicious food! The service is very good, fast and friendly.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Good little sushi restaurant nice saki selection and quality rolls and kitchen food definately recommend

Parker G.

Yelp
I've ordered the sarasota roll probably weekly since moving to sarasota it is absolutely to die for!

Larry E.

Yelp
Simply the best in town. No frills. Just high quality fish along with properly prepared rice making it the best in town. Not since Yoshino' s have i had sushi this good. LE

Yelp
Horrible service, never experienced such bad service in my life!!! There was a couple at the bar and no one else, how could the waitress been so horrible? I was not offered water or asked what I wanted to drink AND I had to ask for a menu, which she reluctantly brought to me. It was so bad I decided to do a take out, if I wasn't so hungry I would have walked out. I was traveling so when I went back to the hotel, I shared my experience and told them not to recommend this restaurant. The only positive was that my sushi was good but my tempura was average at best. Gloria from Atlanta in November 2022.

Lindsey M.

Yelp
Have always drove past this place and finally decided to try. I am so sad I didn't discover it earlier. Best sushi is Sarasota so far for a decent price. Will be back!

Taylor C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food here. The kani salad was very large and I enjoyed that there were 8 rolls in a California roll. The setting was fine, but nothing special. Very fast service. I recommend!

Francine L.

Yelp
Kasa Sushi seems like a pretty popular spot in Sarasota. When we were here for lunch about three other groups enjoying the food. Lunch time they have a lunch special menu so we decided to order the sashimi and sushi lunch. Adding an edamame to the order. Overall the food tasted ok but some of the pieces of fish weren't so fresh to me. It was a lot of food for one person. Edamame tasted really good and it was hot and at the right texture! Service was good though and people are nice here! I did notice a lot of people did order different items from the menu so maybe it's worth a shot to try something different. Maybe sushi taste this way but I'm not really use to it and this was he only place I tried though. Food price is pretty cheap.

Lottie Y.

Yelp
Great place to have lunch. The lunch menu also includes soup and salad. The sushi was nice and the fried tofu was also tasty.

John C.

Yelp
A small sushi restaurant on the Tamiami Trail just south of the Ringling museum. Easy to pass so be on the lookout or set your GPS. The staff was very pleasant and nice and confirmed our meals. Sushi was very good and well prepared. The sucky selection is nice and reasonably be priced with $20 a bottle typical. See in is very casual as is the overall atmosphere. Enjoyed the visit

Grier C.

Yelp
Great sushi and service, and a rather extensive list of sake, including Onegoroshi, which is hard to find.

Daisy Z.

Yelp
Had chicken teriyaki - my son loved it! Ordered salmon skin sushi roll. Was delicious.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Wow! Really good sushi and service! Beautiful presentation and very generous portions. My salad was huge! Prices are average for sushi.

Kim M.

Yelp
I don't get it. This place has great reviews. I don't even know what to say good about this place. Ample parking, good service, the place is clean. Food wasn't up to my standards. I'd compare it to what I can find at the local grocery store - which isn't bad, but not what I expected when I saw all the great reviews. I'm stumped.

Veronica R.

Yelp
Such a great sushi place!!! Every time we come back we are never disappointed. Definitely a must!! A much better place than sushi you may find on more popular locations

Nicole M.

Yelp
Feel ibto this place by accident. Great food, fast service. We will be back. Everyone ordered Habachi dinners.

Miriam W.

Yelp
Handy local spot--doing drive through now (staff is hard to find). Sushi Bento box is a lot for a reasonable price (roll; 4 pieces of sushi, crab rangoon, salad, miso, and rice). I made lunch of the leftover soup, salad and fried the rice next day.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch today and I was very surprised! I ordered the lunch combo (2 rolls, soup and salad) the portions are generous, the salad dressing was delicious, miso was yummy and the two rolled I ordered were fresh and scrumptious! Can't wait to try more!

Brynna M.

Yelp
Ordered lunch will vacationing in Sarasota. Everything was amazing! The yum yum sauce was delicious!

Kevin L.

Yelp
Looks like it is shut down??? The surrounding area was not that nice as well. Other options not far away.

Lilly B.

Yelp
My husband and I are total foodies. We've traveled the world and have experienced amazing gastronomy. This is a quaint, cozy yet casual restaurant with phenomenal food. Unfortunately we were too hungry to take time for pictures of the food but it's amazing. I had the New York Roll and my husband had the Steak and Shrimp Hibachi. They do not cook Hibachi in front of you though. It's all done in their kitchen. Everything.. When I tell you Everything from the Ginger Salad, to the Miso Soup, Edamame to the Sushi was on point. The food was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. Staff was very courteous, friendly even suggestive of things we could try without being overbearing. I ended up ordering food to go for lunch the next day! This place is 5star deserving. Please come visit them. I'm definitely coming back. Totally our Sushi/Hibachi spot from now on.

Anne A.

Yelp
I was a little leary at first but once you come, you'll be okay. The place is outdated but the food is quite tasty. My colleagues and I came here hoping to get some drinks but they didnt have a full bar just beer, wine, and sake. The service is good and food was as well.

Tamas B.

Yelp
This is the best sushi place in Sarasota! Not kidding... Something different what we had before. Very fresh, outstanding performance!

C B.

Yelp
Went here on a whim and so glad we did. Had some of the freshest fish I've had in a while. Good value, great food, excellent service! We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

Cheyenne N.

Yelp
Taste like cheap sushi but kinda pricy. Rather go to a cheap sushi place that actually has great sushi. But this place is nasty... Got the lobster roll $12 And the spicy tuna roll $6 The tuna was so fake it wasn't funny. Never going back

Laura M.

Yelp
Best sushi we've had in Sarasota! I preferred it toTsunami, Yume, and other downtown sushi places. Great, attentive service, reasonable prices, and excellent sushi! We got the eel cucumber roll, spicy tuna (our favorite), peanut avocado, sweet potato, and salmon skin. I would definitely recommend for a nice dinner, and their lunch specials look good too. Don't let the location (right on 41) fool you- they've done a lot to create a warm, classy environment inside. Very excited to have them in the neighborhood!

Adrian G.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend stopped by when we arrived in town on 1/11/19. We were tired from traveling all day and i was craving hibachi. I wanted some place close to our hotel as we were staying at the Hapton Inn at the airport and this was the closest. When qe arrived, the outside lookmed a bit sketchy so we did contemplate leaving. I'm glad we decided to go in. Not only does the inside look NOTHING like the outside, the food was delicious, plentiful, and a decent price. Only downside is they dont jave cocktails, only beer and wine.

Zacharias P.

Yelp
This place is conveniently located close to my home and is open until 10pm. There is a decent sized parking lot, so parking has never been an issue. The restaurant itself is not huge, probably enough seating for around 50 people. The decor is utilitarian, and the music is annoying similar to what they play when you're on hold on the telephone or at the drs office. Though it wasn't busy when I went in, the service was a little slow, but still professional. The sushi was not the best -- I ordered a number of different items - spider roll, eel and cucumber, spicy tuna, among others - and they just didn't do the trick for me. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad - just nothing to rave above - distinctly average and ordinary. The reason I go is because it's close to my house, but I am sure there are better places in town for sushi.

Liubov D.

Yelp
Me and my husband really enjoyed this place! Staff was suuuuper friendly and the food was good. Everything is super clean and nice. Fried ice cream was excellent and huge! Also it turns out I lived all my life in a lie and real green tea and green tea in stores are 2 different stories.

Dave S.

Yelp
Started with the Honey Sandwich and the Central Park Rolls. It came out and looked amazing. Almost to pretty to eat. The Honey sandwich had good spicey flavor and I wanted more of the Central Park I wanted more and hit up the dynamite roll which had just the right amount of heat to go along with the with the crabmeat eel sauce I was about to blow up but I had to try the King of the Sea which had the nice fresh seafood flavor followed by a crispy crunch. I will be back! :-)

Jose R.

Yelp
Food was great. Sashimi was awesome as was the baked mussels. We started with a sushi sampler and from that we could tell the fish was fresh. What was great was that they did not stuff you with rice and then just add a small pieces of fish but just the opposite. We had torro, yellowtail, salmon, white tuna, Saba and the monster roll(yum). We can actually walk from our home here which is excellent because we are coming back again and again. 1/14/2017 I said we would come back since it was so good the first time. Ordered a number of their specials today like baby yellowtail and other assorted sashimi. Baked mussels coming up shortly. Yum yum.

D S.

Yelp
I love coming here for the lunch specials. You can usually get a seat right away and get fast service. Great deals on bento boxes and other specials.

Henrik L.

Yelp
It was the first time for us eating here, but it was fantastic! The food was very tasty. And the price was normal for a Japanese restaurant!

Jie S.

Yelp
This another place at Sarasota we definitely will come back visit when we have the chance. We were here first to pick up some spicy tuna rolls to go which is my kids' favorite roll. The rolls were gone before we made back to our hotel. Next day before we headed to airport, they asked for this place again so we got the chance to sit down to have the meal. The small lobby here have about 10 tables, very comfortable with nice all window around. We had Soy beans, spicy tuna roll, unagi, and some fried rices. Everything was delicious. Services were very smooth and professional.

Martha S.

Yelp
Second visit, second trip to SRQ. great food, attentive wait staff, highly recommend! Not a fancy decor, but we stayed a long time with friends and seats are comfy.

Andi W.

Yelp
I've been eyeing Kasa Sushi for a while, and finally had an excuse to visit when my sweetie suggested it for a date night. We sat at the sushi bar after being greeted by an adorably bubbly hostess and the two busy sushi chefs behind the bar. The place is small, clean, and intimate, but well-lit and comfortable. We ordered our beers and got started on a few basic and specialty rolls. Everything was amazing!! Our waitress was happy to recommend the freshest fare of the evening, and we were blown away by the generous cuts of toro and the live scallop. Don't let the exterior fool you. This place is a hidden gem! Fresh, high-quality sushi, fantastic presentation, and great service!

Wanda O.

Yelp
The sushi was fresh and the prices were great. The variety of dishes and beer was plentiful , very quiet in a Saturday night which was surprising . I will definitely return.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Pretty good find. Stopped in here on our way up the gulf coast. It was a week night, so the place was pretty empty. I'm guessing it gets much busier on weekends. I had the Shrimp and Steak dish, she had just the shrimp plate. Ordered some hot saki to wash it all down. Service was excellent and our food came up quick. Everything was delicious. The bill wasn't too bad, under $80. Will return if ever in the area again.

Dee B.

Yelp
I ordered via bitesquad. First time was great. Second time last night it was almost not edible. Sushi should basically melt in your mouth if it's of quality. The pic says it all. So gross. Threw it away. It was hard and gray. Hibachi was decent. Rice wasn't fresh though. I won't order again. Waste of money.

Carolyn G.

Yelp
The sushi was excellent ! All different types of rolls . Great service , very friendly and informative ! I wish the outside looked as good as the inside tastes ! Definitely recommend
