"In this restaurant, occupying a 19C conservatory, the cooking style is modern and the wines South African. Lounge featuring an impressive whisky collection to round off the evening." - Michelin Inspector

We had an amazing stay at the Kasteel. This is a beautiful place and was the perfect few days to unwind after lots of sightseeing in the Netherlands and Belgium. It was close to a fantastic museum, Kroller Mueller, and the rest of our time was spent lounging, eating and wine tasting.||Jorik held an amazing tasting and shared his incredible knowledge of Dutch wines and also treated us to one of his favorites from France. The wine cellar is truly special and we were lucky to have experienced it. Our dinners and breakfasts were excellently prepared by the fantastic chef, Kelvin. The staff took such good care of us. The service exceeded our expectations. Everyone was so nice! Thank you to Evie, Patrice and Ronald for their kindness and great service. We hope to return to this beautiful property someday. Highly recommend it!

Beautiful location in eastern part of NL wth forests, farming and old towns like Zutphen. Venue in old historical 300 years old but renovated castle. Very attentive staff. Great restaurant with view on the garden, woods and golf. Luxury room 😀

What a beautiful estate this hotel is standing on! The word that comes up when you see it is “tranquility”! We reserved one night only because it was completely booked on a public holiday weekend, otherwise would have stayed longer. Our room was in the Orangerie with high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. It was old fashioned (in a good way), clean and cosy, though some upgrading is needed such as a big modern tv set with an option to log in to Netflix, etc). Very friendly reception service and we were offered a glass of blancs de blancs while waiting in the lounge. We also booked bicycles in advance which had been already brought to the front before we arrived. We had a very nice cycle ride to a small neighbouring town and back. It was a pleasure to see lush green countryside. The 5 course dining in the restaurant was le dîner gastronomique (we liked most of the courses prepared by the creative chef), and luckily, we had a table overlooking the pond, the bridge and the golf course of the hotel. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away from the city buzz and who can appreciate fine dining and nature.

We are getting married at the Kasteel in August and finally had a chance to stay overnight and eat at the restaurant before our wedding weekend, and we couldn’t be more excited! The staff is wonderful, the food is Michelin-level. The rooms are good sized and unique. The grounds are beautifully kept. I certainly cannot rave about it enough! We are so happy with the new ownership and all of their updates to modernize the Kasteel, while still keeping the classic charm.

Lovely dinner with family and friends. Never disappointed when we dine here or stay . The food is amazing and staff is incredibly attentive. Last summer spent four nights here for a family event and loved it. Beautiful setting and wonderful accommodations

I've celebrated my 5th anniversary during a 7-course dinner and it was the best experience we EVER had. The location, the food, the atmosphere was great and most importantly, the service was exceptional. They even remembered a special note I requested during reservation and made sure the night was special. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special moment, this is the way to go!

Spent New Year's celebration at the hotel, booked a package deal with one of the more expensive rooms. First evening was OK, however at New Year's Eve dinner we were put sitting in a dark drafty corner near the entrance, cut out from the rest of the company. Always gotten the food last. Our table was given to someone else who just came in for one night dinner. Well, as it was said to me at checking out by the receptionist, Dutch people prefer white cloth table, couldn't be more racist. She also added advice to complain next time right away and demand better. After that she confirmed there were tables available in a proper part. No word of apology. We got served a bill with things added to it that we didn't purchase. When I asked about new calculations again, I was told it was just explained to me. For a paying guest I was pretty humiliated. Certainly as a foreign person I didn't feel welcome.

After so many years enjoying this beautiful place, our last visit showed that the new management has changed the course of their operations towards a different public/ experience. We have always loved this place, the personalized service and the attention to detail. Now, you are just one number among the guests. The refinery of the Serre restaurant has been lost. In spite of still serving well presented dishes, these are done on undressed tables. Imagine the disappointment of an elegant -luxe- dinner with no tablecloth, paper napkins and wrong position of the cutlery. We understand the it might be a green choice, which is would be acceptable for breakfast, lunch or high tea, but not for the evening. Dinners with overnights in the Engelenburg were always a treat for important dates or celebrations; now there is no difference from going to any standard/chain restaurant. Even the bar, which boasted an ample collection of single malts, is now offering a dwindled selection. Another big change is the personnel. They do require more training and more awareness towards the guests and service. We were curious about the renovation, improvements and new offerings and left with the certainty that it is not an option anymore for our weekends away. We do believe that with curated changes it will restore the place to what it was.
