When I lived in Edgewater, Edge of Sweetness was one of my regular stops for coffee, baked goods, and of course, their amazing bagels. Last summer I moved to Andersonville and since then haven't made it into the shop as much as I used to, but when I saw they were doing online orders with in-store pick-up during the current coronavirus closure, I immediately decided to get a half dozen bagels. They're currently only open for pick-up at certain times, and my workday got crazy yesterday and I knew I wasn't going to make it to Edge of Sweetness before their 4 pm closure. But around 3:55 pm, my phone rang and one of their store employees, Laura, called to ask if I'd be coming in for my bagels. I told her that sadly, I wasn't going to make it and I'd have to eat the cost of the bagels since they wouldn't be open again for pick-up for another week. She then asked where I live. I told her, and she said she could come drop them off to me. While I told her that wouldn't be necessary, she insisted and 20 minutes later she was in front of my building with bagels and cream cheese in hand.
Long story short, Edge of Sweetness has great baked goods and coffee but what really makes them a local treasure is their amazing staff. Please support this business during the stay-at-home order and long after!
