"Featuring both traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine, Kathmandu Spice is a popular Manchester spot that serves dinner and a lunch buffet seven days a week. While the chicken tikka masala, chicken pakora, and saag paneer are favorites, don’t miss the Nepalese vegetable momos and the buff jhol momos. The restaurant also has ample vegan and gluten-free options available." - Ariela Shapiro

SO YUMMY!! And seriously authentic!! We're VEGANs and found lots of options AND gluten free options!! The appetizers in particular were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! We really liked that they combined Indian with Nepalese foods so there was an incredible variety of new tastes for us. DEFINITELY worth you're checking out!! FAB!!!

The place appears a bit run-down inside, but usually that is a good sign if any indication at all - sadly, this is a hard pass for me. I had the misfortune of trying the Chicken Jalfrezi. Usually this dish, when I've ordered it anywhere, is delightful - peppers and onions and goodness. KS offers a variation wherein you get a medley of every other possible vegetable that would otherwise be tossed out, making for a dish that was (for me) 25% chicken and 75% inedible. Worse still, the chicken was chewy and both the Jalfrezi and the Onion Kulcha I had were gritty. I will give them points for friendly staff and a medium level spice that actually has some heat, which is a rarity in New England. But overall I can't recommend it when there are other Indian spots in Manchester that offer both significantly better food and a nicer venue.

During my recent trip to Artist Bluff in New Hampshire, I sought out some Nepalese cuisine on my way back and discovered Kathmandu Spice in Manchester. The food was amazing, and the owner was incredibly welcoming. A great find! As of Oct 2024.

Google
Excellent staff and Very Good food. I chose to dine in and am glad I did! I started with a Banana Lassi and then ordered some Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken(Mild) for dinner. The Butter Chicken spice level seemed stronger than mild and I did not mind at all, as I enjoy spicy food. The Garlic Naan was very fresh with plenty of garlic. Looks were deceiving with the Butter Chicken. I was surprised how much meat and sauce was really in the bowl. I finished with the carrot pudding which was Good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and like Indian, Nepalese, and/or spicy food!

I’ve come here twice with my girlfriend and a friend of ours who lived in Nepal for the past year. Everything we’ve ordered has been fresh and delicious. Our friend told us the food tastes exactly how it does in Nepal. The food, service, and experience is always top notch

Google
RANCID! REVOLTING! DISAPPOINTING! The worst food I've ever had. I can't say anything good about the food. The quality of the food is so poor I had to throw it in the trash. The only description I can give The masala has this underlying rancid buttery taste that leaves a slight coating in your mouth. The chicken has a sour smell like spoiled deli meat. The samosa has a dark color and retained to much oil that is probably due to the oil not being changed frequently enough. The atmosphere is cheap, dark and cold. Large parking lot but it's shared with many businesses so good luck parking. Over priced trash! Later that night I did some thinking, the reason the food had such a bad flavor is because it's dirty. The oil is old like unsaid before and what I assume the clay oven they probably use isn't clean well enough along with the kitchen. That's why I'm getting that old grease flavor. Please do better. But this is my opinion and maybe you'll have a better experience and I hope you do.

Google
They have the most friendly staff at this restaurant! The restaurant is very welcoming, very clean, and most importantly very amazing food they offer to you. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try new authentic food from India. They most definitely have the best Indian cuisine in Manchester, NH🙏🏾🙏🏾

Google
Chill momos so good. We love the food there lots of options.

Sean W.

Yelp
One of the best ethnic local restaurants in Manchester. Coming from Queens, I recognize good Nepalese food in NYC. While traveling for work, I read about this place and had to see it for myself. Grabbed myself a plate of momos (a must get!l and their Thali variety rice platters, which give you a little taste of everything Nepalese. I like the mom & pop local vibes this places gives, with their regional decor and music in the background. This place is a Nepalese gem is worth a visit if you happen to be in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Jasmine H.

Yelp
Their Ali boodi Tami soup...I'd drive 20 miles for it; uber fragrant broth, bamboo shoots, blackeyed peas, tomatoes and potato etc. Simple, no frills interior. But yummy Nepal region-esque food that I keep going back for.

Nat S.

Yelp
I've been coming here for quite a few years. It used to be excellent, unfortunately the salt level has been excessive the last 3 times. Today I ordered Chicken Tikka masala and Navratan curry, and naan. Ordered Poori a couple times ago and it was flat and oily. We had ordered it several times previously here and it had been perfect. I hope your restaurant addresses these issues. I'm definitely going to try a different Indian restaurant next time. They also no longer do lunch which is okay, but not if the salt level is this over the top!

Yelp
Some heads-up would be great... What My friend and I were super excited to try Nepalese food. We ordered a number of appetizers... but was disappointed that the server didn't warn us that the majority of the appetizers were cold... the chicken chwela was cold and high was definitely not expected. Kerau Ko Archar was also cold.. it probably would have been good with some warm hot rice. The wai wai sadeko was the biggest surprise.. I thought it was noodles but it was not at all, it is like noodle crisp (chips) mixed into a salad. We also ordered the mix momo for the intentions to share... with 4 being meat and 4 vegetables and we also did a chili flavor so it was all tossed and turned and so couldn't identify which is which. Also I picked it to be in chili which I didn't know it would be fried and then heavily tossed in a chili sauce, it was very flavorful but I wasn't prepared. Overall I think there could be more appreciation for the food if we were prepared. You've been warned Environment This was in a strip building. Inside there are quite a number of seats available. Niceness of the staff The server was nice but I wish they were more interactive in terms of introducing the food especially if I am new to the foods. Would also have been helpful if they were aware that we were sharing the dish and helped us identify the food. They did they job I suppose by taking the orders and fulfilling it but failed on the introduction. Dollar The appetizers were very reasonable. Yes? Not local to the area. I would prepare and let my friends know about this place but not necessary recommend it.

Yelp
We ate at Katmandu Spice tonight. The service was excellent. The waitress was pleasant and efficient. She was the only one on the floor. There was a steady stream of take out and door dash pick ups and one table of eight and another couple while we were eating. The food was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken chili (Nepalese style). It was flavorful, appealing to the eye, and perfectly spicy. The garlic naan couldn't have tasted better. I so enjoyed the onion chutney side. My partner ordered the vegetarian thali. He enjoyed all of the variety and the mango lassi. The mustard greens and spinach were surprisingly delicious. Unfortunately, the ambiance leaves much room for improvement and the decor needs attention. It was rather cold and dated. With food this good, it was worth overlooking.

Fred M.

Yelp
Decided to order some Indian Food, after not getting some for a while due to various reasons. What a pleasant surprise! Food of this place is amazing . I would definitely return to dine in. It has been a while since I have felt that wow factor and this place has it. Only reason why I am not giving them a 5 star is because I felt that portion wise, it could have been slightly better, especially when the food is so tasty. Otherwise this would be a perfect review.

Augustine F.

Yelp
The food is amazingly delicious. When it comes to the staff, everybody is so nice friendly, honest, caring, and appreciative. Walking into this restaurant you will notice how friendly everybody is and welcoming. The ambience of this restaurant is also amazing and very up-to-date. I would highly recommend this restaurant because of their authentic Indian cuisine that they have to offer to their customers.

Anel J.

Yelp
Delicious Indian food in the area! The presentation of the dishes coming out of the clay ovens is so beautiful, they always come out steaming. I usually get something basic like the butter chicken or tikka masala, medium spicy, and I can say it does make my tongue burn so caution if you're sensitive to spicy. My boyfriend and I love to visit this location for Indian food. The staff is so kind as well.

Tony F.

Yelp
We've ordered there multiple times over the years and would usually give this place 5 stars....however, we ate there tonight and found two cockroaches on the table. We were planning on taking our leftovers home until we found these. The employees told us not to leave a review on the way out.

Aakanksha S.

Yelp
I would love to support a Nepali restaurant in NH, so I stopped by. The food was fine, though a bit low on flavor outside of the chili chicken. However, the deal breaker was the cockroach that was chilling on my table by the end of my meal. Nope, nope, nope.

Yelp
kathamandu Spice Nepalese restaurant. We went to eat 9 people party. We have a very good time but food is terrible experience Manchester Nepalese restaurant. expensive manu price was high. We order the food. garlic an and naan okay. Sagganeer butter chicken chicken masala chicken chow mein, Nepali style momo. I swear to God I never have this kind of garbage. Nepali cooking food. It was terrible experience. Please do not go there. Please. You just pray for your price. Food was not good. Butter chicken was nasty. We use the bathroom so many times? Terrible food eating. We are so hungry. Nine people eat. You know the price. How much it cost? Just bad food.

Kate S.

Yelp
This place is great! It's a mix of Indian and Nepalese items, which makes the hardest part of visiting here deciding what delicious item to get! There were 4 of us and we each ordered something different and shared around. Everything we picked was delicious. We shared vegetable samosas and goat momo to start. (Both awesome.) I loved my lamb saag, my husband got chicken curry, my brother got baighan bartha, and sister in law ordered the Kathmandu spice thali. We also got a side of garlic naan. We ate until we were stuffed and had the rest for breakfast the next day. I'll be dreaming about that lamb saag for weeks to come. The service was also very friendly and attentive. We were the only people in the restaurant as it was a week before the COVID-19 outbreak really hit, but I imagine it would have been friendly service either way. :)

Carol L.

Yelp
MOLDY RICE! Inexcusable, especially for the price we paid for the meal. Quality is waaay down overall, very disappointing. Butter chicken was OK, not great. garlic naan was gritty, as was the saag paneer. Vegetables need to be washed more carefully, grit is no fun to eat in your spinach. Worst part, the rice was MOLDY. Not in appearance, but over-the-top moldy smell, the minute we opened the container (it was a to-go order) that unmistakable mold smell hit us. Any good chef knows when their staple dish is of poor quality. It's obvious the restaurant is cutting corners. Sorry, you don't serve moldy food to people. We won't be back.

Michelle W.

Yelp
I ordered the Kathmandu Grilled Salad based on the description and photo on the website. What I saw and what I received for $10.95 was a RIP OFF! The tandoori chicken did taste good but it was the smallest shriveled up piece of chicken leg I have ever received from a restaurant ! Now on the positive side, the garlic naan was to die for! I would highly recommend it. I will be calling the restaurant as well! Sooo disappointed

Nicole H.

Yelp
Took my mother for her first time eating Indian food. Started with meat samosas and masala tea. Samosas were amazing and the tea was well spiced. Ordered the lamb vindaloo for myself medium. Was nice and hot and super flavorful. Garlic naan was incredible too super flakey and crisp. Waitress was incredibly friendly too glad I chose Kathmandu Spice. My mother is proud to say she likes Indian food.

Mack G.

Yelp
Came here on a whim recently after hearing good reviews in the past 10 years, was dead when we went in, musta been a slow night during the week, got the samosa chaat to start and lamb tikka masala with garlic naan, all was very good, very spicy which was what I wanted because I was getting over a cold. Very kind staff and very attentive, would come here again for sure.

Sean F.

Yelp
This is just a strip mall restaurant, so I did not expect too much. But, walking inside, there was plenty of seating and attentive wait staff. It wasn't amazing ambiance, but it was nice diner-meets-South Asian decor. Initially, I did note a lip stick smudge on my water glass, but I get that some of those lipsticks just won't come off in a dishwasher first run. The waiter took it away immediately and brought back a sparkling clean one. Now for the food! The Chicken Pekora was deliciously flavored with turmeric and maybe some sort of masala. The Saag Paneer was very tasty. The veggie platter was a delightful assortment of your typical Indian veggie appetizers. I think a lot of Asian places moderate your spice level request by how you look, but these guys gave me exactly what I requested, a really nice spicy Vegetable Biryani. The breads must have come right off the side of a clay oven because the Cheese Naan and Roti were perfect! The cheese on the naan stretched so nicely. The Tandoori Grilled Chicken over Greens salad was great. There was a nice mix of greens and veggies, and the chicken was vibrant red and char and very tasty. They have not just Mango Lassis but also Banana Lassis and Strawberry Lassis. The Banana Lassi was so good. Everything we got hit the spot just right! If it wasn't 45min away without traffic, we'd be getting that delivered like every other night.

Kiki K.

Yelp
My friends and I just happened to go here when our first pick ended up being closed. I can't say how happy I am that the 1st restaurant was closed. The service was great despite the server having a lot of tables for lunch. The food was simply amazing so fresh and flavorful. Things took a bit to come out but I think that's because the quality was A+ (it's really not a long wait & it's so worth it). The momos fried with chili are a MUST try. The spice levels were perfect. It was relaxed and casual atmosphere probably my favorite lunch I've had in a long time. I plan on coming back again and again.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Nothing better on a cold night than a hot naan and some tikka masala. It was delicious. Perfect serving size for one. I got the butter naan and it was pillowy and soft. Perfect. Owner was attentive and quick to get order in to the kitchen. Strongly recommended trying this place for authentic food. I ordered hot tea to finish off the meal before I ventured back out into the cold temps.

Camille R.

Yelp
Very tasty. Price point a bit high. Will return due to proximity to Manchester Airport. The butter chicken meat appeared to be cooked tandoori style.

Sirjan K.

Yelp
Tasty food from Nepal ... I been to many restaurant but this is very good one ... overall nice

Nicole W.

Yelp
The owner & staff have great customer service and the food is always consistant. Always clean and taken care of.

Tracy U.

Yelp
Delicious food last night! The malai kofta had great depth of flavor and the butter chicken was so tender. The vegetable biryani was a meal in itself, elevated by a complex and complementary variety of spices. It is also worth skipping take out and dining in for the beautiful presentation of the dishes and warm service if you have the time.

Rich D.

Yelp
The food here is OK doesn't stand out - except one thing that is terrible. The shrimp soup needs to be revamped. They only include a few tiny pieces a shrimp, maybe a teaspoon overall. The food is very thin and has few components. There should be lots more shrimp and vegetables.

Dylan M.

Yelp
Kathmandu Spice very quickly became our Sunday night tradition. Every Sunday it's "I can't wait for Kathmandu Spice tonight." This place is amazing. The flavors are incredible. The chicken tandoori is a favorite of ours. We usually get that, vegetable masala, and one other entree just to try something new (and don't forget the garlic naan!). The family that runs it is friendly. Plus there is a TV in one corner that is constantly playing a "Best of Bollywood" Playlist on YouTube that we have found extremely entertaining. I really can't say anything bad about Kathmandu Spice and I try to recommend it to anyone that will listen.

Mari R.

Yelp
Incredibly bland and there was a piece of plastic in my food. Worst Indian restaurant I've ever eaten at

Veronica L.

Yelp
Overall the service and dining experience was good. Dining area was spacious and welcoming. Theres a back window that looks into the kitchen which is nice and you can see them making your food. Now onto the food which is the reason for 3/5 stars. The mango lassi was delicious and would totally go back for this (5/5) The chicken momos (2/5) were too peppery/salty for my taste. I love momos but these I didn't like. The garlic naan was good but nothing special (3/5). The vegetable curry was ok (3/5). I like that it came with a lot of rice. They have a lot of different Napalese and Indian food options, I'll have to try the others.

Marshall B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious, one piece of chicken wasn't fully cooked unfortunately. Would still go there again.

Jordan C.

Yelp
This restaurant is my absolute favorite for Indian cuisine. The owner is so sweet and welcoming and the staff are very nice and polite. The food is amazing every time and the restaurant is so clean and beautiful. Would recommend 10/10.

Tony T.

Yelp
Our takeout Indian destination. Nav rattan korma, somosa, peshwari nan. Always good and good portions. Very nice people too

Ara A.

Yelp
With all the excellent reviews I thought this was going to be mind blowing but it was a massive disappointment. I know there are not a lot of Indian restaurants in NH but this was not great. Hubby had lunch buffet and I ordered from the menu. The tikka masala was subpar but the goat curry was the best thing on the menu and the lamb korma was unrecognizable. The taste just wasn't there, it didn't take like Indian. Super disappointed

Benjamin Snow A.

Yelp
Good Indian food with great Appetizers. I definitely recommend trying some of their homemade drinks.

Jeffery S.

Yelp
Very authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine. Spice heads can get their fix for sure!!

Laura F.

Yelp
Panner cheese with spinach was delicious, appetizers were decent, the main dishes was very small portion though and came by itself with no rice or anything

Katonah O.

Yelp
Wow. Simply fantastic. I'm from NY and have a variety of choices there. Tried Kathmandu based on YELP. Was astounded. The food is excellent -every bite was more than I expected. We had saag paneer, saag mushroom, aloo, lamb rogan josh. The spices were delightful. I don't know what they did to make it taste great but I wish I was staying in town longer. You Manchester folks are lucky sob's.

Sol C.

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner after exploring the White Mountajns - oh my god, what a GEM! We absolutely adored this restaurant. First of all, you'd be making a mistake to not order a mango lassi, which was the best one I've had - possibly ever anywhere. The food menus are large - one whole side is Indian and the other side Nepalese. You can't go wrong! The momos were perfect and we also feasted on fantastic naan, sag paneer, shrimp curry and a Nepalese snack platter with a unique assortment of pickled veggies and appetizers. So delicious!!! Massive portions too for reasonable prices.

Biswas P.

Yelp
Had a C-Mo:Mo and chatpat today and it was Amazing!! Later, we also tried jhol Mo: Mo, and it was Delicious too. Family run and the owner seems nice, so Definitely recommend this place for any Indian and Nepali foods.

Vydesh R.

Yelp
Servers did not wear masks. The manager of the place also approached the table without a mask. None of the chefs in the kitchen were wearing a mask either. I know restaurants are going through a tough time - but please take necessary precautions please.

Kaori M.

Yelp
Wow it was delicious! We got 2 Nepal dishes, chicken bbq and goat curry. I really liked both, especially chicken with Masala sauce. Creamy, spicy, and fits with chicken. The serving time is short and the service was great.

Clyde N.

Yelp
Excellent food, very fresh and good service. My only feedback is that some dishes could be hotter. Will come back and would recommend.

Mark R.

Yelp
*fantastic* food. I love Indian cuisine and have tried many places. Many are 'similar' while few rise above but Kathmandu is head and shoulders above. Very fresh, fast service, seasoned perfectly! Will 100% return!!

Mike H.

Yelp
I've been here twice and got delivery once. I can't adequately express in words how insanely delicious everything was. The flavors are intense and well-balanced. I got mild or medium level spice, which would be medium or hot in general American terms. Perfectly fine with me. A few of the dishes I had were chicken chili, goat biyrani, chicken tikki masala, saag paneer, chicken saag, and of course garlic naan. I'm considering getting one takeout dish (chicken chili is my leading candidate) and splitting it for four or five lunches for work. They are that big and the aroma will make everyone jealous. The delivery I got included the three pre-meal dips and tortilla-like cracker. Nice touch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They love talking about their delicious creations.

Renee R.

Yelp
Fantastic, authentic food. The atmosphere isn't fussy. In fact you may have passed buy the building and not known this gem was there. The staff/owner and the food were outstanding. I highly recommend.

Radha K.

Yelp
it is one of the worst indian places that we have ever been. Very expensive, dirty and their butter chicken did not taste like it should be. Never recommend anyone to this place.

Dave B.

Yelp
Tried them again, Thursday lunch buffet at 12:45 (buffet goes until 3 pm). The business was out of pakoras and chicken tandoori when I got seated, chicken got replenished in 5 minutes and gone before I could get any. Waiting 10+ minutes on pakoras and still none. Noticed one cook on a cell phone, still on it 10 minutes later...which can explain the lack of food in part but there are 2 other cooks. Food on the warming line is lukewarm, health inpectors take note that the heating elements were never lit when I was there, how can you possibly keep food at a safe temp? At least the somewhat tired looking saag paneer has flavor. Potato and cauliflower curry - cauliflower is still rock hard, not close to being cooked; I told the waiter and it's still sitting out there. Chili chicken looks like it's been around for a long time, never was replenished and not worth risking a bite. Pakoras - mushroom - finally came and at least they are good. Decent mint / coriander chutney, onion chutney good too. They bring bread to your table and it's hot and good, oil still dripping off it. Tandoori chicken got replenished and I got a couple small pieces, hot and juicy but lacked flavor. Bang! waiter dropping utensils when clearing a table. And the place is far from packed. Chicken tikka masala sauce tasted average, nothing special here, there were only 3 small pieces of chicken swimming in at least 1/3 gallon of tepid sauce. After telling the waiter, they brought me a small bowl with some nice pieces of chicken in tikka masala sauce, and it was hot food. Went back for more saag paneer but there was only one piece of saag looking forlorn in that more tired spinach. Won't be back. Maybe the head chef wasn't there when I was eating, but whoever was there wasn't serving good food or much food. They need to get the chafing lamps lit, too, that's a big potential health issue

Matthew A.

Yelp
We stopped in for the lunch buffet ($10.99) and there was a decent variety of 10-12 traditional Indian dishes, both regular and vegetarian to choose from. All dishes were very fresh (could be hotter) and had very nice flavors. The buffet had fresh salad appetizers, pakoras, rice, tikka Marsala, paneer saag, chicken tandoori and so much more. The lentil soup was very good, as well as the garlic nann. The service was very friendly! The mango pudding dessert was very sweet and delish. A few small things worth mentioning- -No small sauce dishes for the sauces- we had to use the soup bowls. - No lemon slices on the buffet! :-( -No soup spoons- or they were hard to find at least. This will be a lunch stop for us when we are in Manchester!

R M.

Yelp
Stopped in on our way home from Thanksgiving weekend. The food was super delicious and the service was so sweet and accommodating! YUM. I ordered extra at dinner in hopes of having leftovers. I did. And they were GREAT! Go support this small business. :)

Jim B.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the buffet this afternoon. The taste of everything was quite good. I thought the garlic naan and the mango pudding desert were especially good. I also loved the taste of the chicken tikka masala, my favorite Indian dish. The downside is we arrived after 2 pm and they were just about to shut down the buffet. Some of the dishes were on the dry side and others were just warm instead of hot. Guess it was our fault for eating lunch so late. It is definitely worth returning to this restaurant. Next time we will show up at noon for a fresh buffet.

Chloe P.

Yelp
If you ever tasted Indian/Nepalese food, don't go there. I am very surprised with so many positive reviews. They cooked noodles in mustard oil. I really think chefs in this restaurant should go eat in other Indian restaurants to understand how Flavors work.
