The chefs special and the salad were both very good. Fresh seafood seasoned well. There was a very short wait as well. The wait staff were friendly and very helpful. I think our guys name was Ephram. He knew the menu well and was just an all around good server.

I used to love this place, however, these past two times I have visited, an issue had occurred. The first issue of over charging, they made right so I thought I would go come back to give them another chance. Well, I drove about an hour total (round trip) out of my way to come pick up fresh seafood. The shrimp I thought I got were the big ones like in the bottom right of cluster group. Unfortunately, he was the only one. The other 4 plus pounds were teeny or salad size with approx a pound of those oozing like solo guy in front. I bought 5 lbs and only less than a half pound is what I ordered. It's so upsetting when this placed used to be so amazing. 2 stars because its become a reoccurring issue.

Katie’s Seafood Market is a gem! The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. You can even find some wild-caught options that come straight off the boat — doesn’t get better than that. Great place to pick up quality seafood if you’re in Galveston. Highly recommend!

Honestly, this place is a little bit overrated and expensive with a Hispanic flare on a good portion of the dishes. I would recommend ordering the crab cake it was delicious(comes with fried crab fingers and two kinds of sauces) Although I have to say The food at Katie’s is overall is a little bit weird it’s not just a standard lemon cream fish. Simplicity, is sometimes best and this place over complicates every dish. It’s amazing the kitchen can even keep up to be honest. Maybe a couple of simple dishes should be added to the menu. Even the shrimp Alfredo has two different kinds of shrimp and some is chopped in the sauce some is grilled and on skewers. It just doesn’t need to be that extra sometimes. Also…Our waiters name was Ron he was a very nice guy so hopefully you get him when you go there… the Manager was also nice. Really good customer service. I’m just disappointed with not being able to order a simple yet satisfying dish.

Used to love this place. Been disappointed the last 2 times. Today the tile fish Galveston bake was a big disappointment. The piece of fish was small. The sides are usually mashed potatoes and spinach. Today, the sides were replaced with soupy potatoes au gratin. And the supposedly Galveston bake was chopped red and green peppers with a few pieces of spinach. Not the same as when it had the olives. It will be a while before I give them another try. Sad because it used to be my favorite place to eat on the island.

Purchased fish here all of my adult life and I have never been dissatisfied. Sure it smells fishy, its a fresh seafood warehouse. Bought shrimp and some small red( colored fish I would ressume were red vermillion, absolutely delicious.

After watching this restaurant on tv and them showing this dish I just had to have it. So today I made the trip to Galveston and celebrated a special year as I ordered one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. Grilled Grouper covered with lump crabmeat and grilled shrimp and veggies covered with butter sauce. It was served on a steaming hot platter. Also Mexican street corn, rice and black beans. It could have fed two but I ate every bite! (Except for rice and beans). Delicious and was worth every dollar.

Katie' Seafood the Freshest in town!!!! Service is great too! On a cold day that Caldo soup will warm you up while giving you delicious savory flavors! Katie's fresh Seafood stall, right next door to their restaurant, has been serving fresh seafood for many years to Galveston locals! Try it and do not "slap yo Mama" because it tastes soooo Good!

Best fresh seafood on the island for sure. I always come here for making my seafood stew.

The restaurant was busy but there were some empty tables and seats at the bar. We sat at the bar. Our food took over 40 minutes to make it out of the kitchen. There was a lady next to us who ordered 20 minutes after us and got her food before us. I had an heirloom tomato salad. The signature feature of the dish - the heirloom tomatoes - were mushy. The salad's flavor was very underwhelming. My partner ordered a prime rib sandwich and it was cold to the touch, fries and onion rings were. too. The lady bartender took the sandwich back and about 10 minutes later he had a fresh sandwich although it was served with some attitude and the comment "everything ok now?" My partner said it was probably the best au just sandwich he's ever had. I give a star apiece for the appetizer and the sandwich. One would think the bartender or the manager would've apologized for the 40-minute wait, and secondly for the cold sandwich. How can the manager not know there were 40-minute ticket times and food returned? No one said a word. We were in the bar for almost two hours for drinks, an appetizer, and lunch. Pretty sad experience. Edited: my partner became sick and was ill for the next 24 hours. Buyer beware!

The staff helping us was absolutely wonderful! TJ specifically made our experience even better!! He had us cracked up and listened to our needs and gave us his best advice! I would 100% come back for local seafood!!!

Owners of Katie's actively lobbied against berthing Battleship Texas at Pier 21. Katie's was successful and now as of 10/22/24 the future home for the Texas is in doubt. I for one will never eat at Katie's again as a result. Galveston has many great dining options, I encourage you to make your selection in accordance with what matters to you.

Great stop if you're looking for very fresh seafood. They send their boats out daily which bring back their fresh catch to this market. The market process what the restaurant needs and also prepares for their daily sales. By the look of it, they also supply a number of local restaurants as well. Great selection and as fresh as you can get it.

This was a highlight of my trip. It was awesome to see the fish come off the boat and pick mine out. I bought some large shrimp and a whole redfish. Doesn't get any fresher than that!

Bought fresh large shrimp and a Whole Red Snapper. They removed the scales and had skin and tail on filets prepared. Awesome!

went to Katie's based on their Yelp score. they had free parking so that was a plus. and they have a large patio that is right on the water and dog friendly. it was a warm day but the shaded patio and breeze made it quite comfortable. The service was spectacular and the food (fried shrimp platter) was the very best.

For fresh seafood, it is hard to beat. Prices were so-so but the size and quality of shrimp we picked up were excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Great place--my new go-to place now when on the island.

The food is delicious. I especially like the shrimp and fish and drinks. While on girls' trip we enjoyed dinner. The food was so fresh that we decided to have lunch the next day. Patio is spacious. For outstanding service consider requesting Arnol or Daniel. Brett (general mgr) is visible and considerate of your experience!! A must stop for a wonderful meal.

Katie's Seafood Market is a few doors down from Katie's Seafood restaurant. There is free parking, in the pay to park lots, you just follow all the directions clearly printed on the permanent metal sign to use their code for free parking. Or you can call them, as their phone number is listed right there for code and help. After we ate lunch at the restaurant we walked down to the seafood market. We picked out Red Snapper and shrimp. The employee was very helpful, answered our questions over how much to get for how many people we were serving. He asked us how we wanted them cut and cleaned and verified how we wanted to make them so he cut and cleaned accordingly. Very knowledgeable and helpful. We had a shrimp boil that night and they were amazingly delicious! So fresh, so full of flavor and perfect texture! Next night we grilled up the Red Snappers on The Blackstone and they too were amazing! So fresh, so delicious! Great market to buy your fresh caught seafood to take and make. Fun added benefit is to watch them cut and clean your seafood!

Wow. What a find! Delish fresh food. Paid parking. Phenomenal wait staff. Winner winner. We ordered Red Snapper. It was perfect and I am not a "fish"person. Also had the corn bread and collard greens sides. They were perfect. Biggest surprise was a crab claw appetizer. Never had before but they were out of this world. Sweet and buttery. High marks. Also had a bowl of the Butternut crab bisque. Very flavorful. This place will be on my must go list when I visit the island. As an aside, we were seated in front of the kitchen bar. At one point, the manager called The wait staff over to discuss the fresh seafood they had received. Then he said "uniform check" to which the whole staff stepped back from the window so he could see. They all lifted their pant legs to show their shoes and socks and pants. I found it absolutely refreshing. A restaurant with STANDARDS? I really appreciated that. I recommend this restaurant for many reasons. Your hard earned money is well spent here.

I have been buying crab claws/fingers from here for years but this time Half (30 or so) of the claws had no meat at all. The claws were super small too. I wondered about the smaller container when I bought but really wanted some claws $24 for the container. I remember much less last summer. I have bought them several times before there and even drove from far West End to get them. So disappointing!! One small plate was ok. Other plate no meat on claws. I just coated as usual by handfuls and fried then noticed the large amt with no meat. I noticed claws with no meat when coating but did not have time to pick out each one beforehand

Recently bought some fresh fish at Katie's in Galveston. Ambiance is fish market but the service was really good and enticed me to get some fish I had never tried and I really liked it. Best place I have found to buy fish, shrimp and crab.

Tried on two different days to find this place with two different phones and couldn't . It seems to be by the cruise boat terminal but we were stumped when we got to the area both walking and driving. Ok, next day and we found it. It is in sight of the oil well museum about sixty feet from where we were parked yesterday! Right on the wharf by a big boat house. Great fresh fish a shrimp. Parking is free.

Staff was friendly in helping us. Got a kick out of seeing pelicans calmly sit beside the workers, hoping to catch scraps of the fish they were cleaning

This business KNOWS food and customer service! Awesome, fresh food and superb customer service. Joey and Mark made us feel appreciated and welcomed. The food was fresh cooked perfectly, not over salted like most. This restaurant is well worth the drive and wait. I will be returning soon!

My new go-to seafood restaurant when in Galveston. Amazing wait staff. Great atmosphere. Easy in and out. Fresh Gulf seafood. Nice view from outdoor dining.

I always stop here before leaving Galveston to get the freshest fish, shrimp, and crab!! Today I was able to nab some blue crab too and a couple of stone crab claws. The customer service is great, they're all wearing masks, and they limit how many can be in the shop at a time. They will filet the fish for you as well (after they weigh- it they sell it by the whole fish). Everyone seems happy, including the pelicans out back who get the fish heads I don't want (sorry, I'm just not there yet!!). They have their own fleet of boats that brings in their catches as well as bringing in seafood for their restaurant next door. I love Katie's for seafood! I have no idea how the prices compare to other markets in the area, but it's better prices and fresher than what I can get at home, I love the customer service, and I love the variety! Happy return customer.

This is a review of the Seafood Market, not the restaurant......... Not sure why the hype on this one, shrimp wasn't fresh and staff was down right rude. Plenty of other places to get fresh shrimp in the area. It's a neat place, something is just way off with the way they treat customers and knowingly push shrimp that's not the highest quality.

One if the things on list to do in Galveston was to get oysters at Katie's. Based on the reviews, it suppose to be really good. They were right. The oysters were big, fresh and delicious. We had a dozed freshly shocked and six grilled. The grilled oysters were amazing. Can't wait to go back and try the others.

Walked out of the restaurant without eating, or placing a food order after parking the car in a lot that cost $20.00 to park. This restaurant requires you to pay to park your car, prior to getting inside to preview the menu or taste their food or check out their prices !!!! The manager was uncaring and lacked the professionalism we seek in a restaurant that would have gladly have taken our $200 for food and tip for 3 people. The prices are very expensive and there is no salmon or catfish available. Also, too much of the menu failed to list prices, instead it states Market Prices, which only they are aware of, this can require multiple trips to the table. Since it took us way too long to get an order taker, this caused too many delays in getting food ordered, and resulted in us leaving. As a customer, I prefer to know the prices of the food while considering my choices and options and allowing me to move ahead with a timely order taking process. This restaurant experience was a fail for us. We will not return or recommend to anyone.

There are a million seafood restaurants in Galveston. IMHO, most along Seawall Boulevard are tourist traps. Katie's is located overlooking the yachts. It was a beautiful day and we were able to sit outside. Love Texas, eating outside around Thanksgiving can't be beat. The food was delicious, I had the Golden Tile Fish, several had the surf and turf, another had red snapper. Everything was excellent. Make reservations, they get very busy. Before you leave, walk next door to Katie's fresh fish market. They will pack your purchase in ice for the ride home. They have fresh fish, shrimp, crab and much more.

This is the spot for some fresh seafood. You can not go wrong, if you want great service and and good atmosphere this is it. EJ was our server and this man is awesome, his energy is something you don't find very often in the service industry. 10/10

Great place to eat if your in Galveston. Check it out has a great menu . Everything is fresh here . Parents live on the island we have been getting fresh fish from their seafood market( which is about 500 years from the restaurant) I was so excited when I heard they were opening the restaurant it nice to get fresh caught fish and shrimp and not frozen. If your heading to Galveston make sure and check it out .

We ate seafood from several different restaurants while in Galveston, and this was by far the best. We ate appetizers, entrees, and dessert and it was all wonderful. Joey was the best! He is super friendly, helpful, and attentive. 10/10 would recommend!

Fresh fish of every kind! Had the fish of the day- barrel head- strange looking but tasted fantastic! Smothered with Shrimp étouffée. But it over the top! Great customer service even though they were busy. Fish market next door is off the hook--

On vacation and we decided to do a seafood boil. Small place but they kept you 6' apart. The seafood all looked fresh. Decent prices as well.

Wow. !!!!! We ate here yesterday for my nephew's birthday and the food was fabulous .even better the waiter Joey was awesome ! He made our dining experience magnificent ! Can't say enough about Joey skd having a great waiter is a must for me! ..the food was very good and fresh ! Thank you katies staff and Joey We will be back !

Went to get seafood and when I was rung up, I was overcharged on what I ordered. The fish I had filleted were also done poorly. A lot of meat was left on the bones. Got some cash back on the overcharge, but have to haggle with the bank on the double charge I incurred. Check your receipts. I won't be going back. One star is too many.

We have eaten here numerous times. Love the wait staff. The food was definitely not up to par. The seafood nachos had very little fish and bits of shrimp. The seafood chowder was watery and lacked the rich buttery flavor we are used to. Wondering if there has been a chef change??? We won't be going back anytime soon.

We had a great late lunch there. The seafood was fresh and outstanding. If given the opportunity as for the waiter Joey. He is extremely professional but very friendly and polite. He handled our group of 7 with ease. I promise you won't be disappointed. Several of us had the Greek Seafood salad, which was outstanding. First time I've ever had grilled lettuce with a salad. Enjoy.

If you're looking for fresh fish, shrimp, and/or crab this is the place to go! We really were on the hunt for live blue crab but their selection was on ice and already cleaned which has its advantages too. Got three lbs of blue crab, a red snapper, red fish, and salmon steaks. All was amazing when we cooked it up at home for dinner. Note this is a popular place so there was a line out the door. Covid safety measures were being implemented which was a appreciated (only 6 ppl at a time inside, masks, plastic barriers, and social distance etc) Its a small place tucked away but still seek this gem out---totally worth it and prices are fair.

I hate to say it, I'd like to get a table next time I'm in town, but this is one of the best seafood restaurants I've been . The shrimp was fantastic but the servers attention, to us, was beyond good

In Galveston for 2 days. At a local's recommendation, we ate dinner one night. Food was superb and wait staff awesome! Stella was our server and was great. Next day.....where to eat? back to Katie's. Joey was our server and he was wonderful!!! Joey made superb suggestions....professional.....personable. best meal and service we've ever had! when in Galveston.....don't cheat yourself.....Go to Katie's!!!

We weren't sure what to expect, seems people either love or avoid this place. We were here on a Sunday afternoon. No wait for outside seating. Atmosphere: right at the canal, boats, pelicans and fish. Dining area was covered and not too hot. Service: our server was Joel and he was fantastic. Perfectly attentive without hovering. Got appetizers, drinks and food in very short time. He was definitely exceptional. Food: started with Bam-Bam shrimp dip. Actually, this probably was all I needed, but I stopped myself from pigging out. It was creamy, full of seafood and delicious. DH had Bayou Platter, a mix of Cajun and seafood including red beans, rice, sausage, boudin balls, fish and coleslaw. Definitely enough for two. I had chef's special, panko crusted tile fish topped with crab claws, shrimp and a yummy sauce. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Also enough for two! We are stuffed, have more than enough leftovers for tomorrow and will definitely visit Katie's again! Oh, also, DH had the Isabela cocktail, frozen concoction with mint, lemon, rum and more. Very refreshing and nice to look at, as well! I had Shrimp Diva, grapefruit vodka, lemonade, and more. Both were great!
