Great food and very friendly service. The real gem is the changing daily special, which is “always” mansaf on Friday, but might on another day be maqluba, ouzi, fasulya, kousa mahshi (stuffed zucchini) etc. (the owner said to call in the morning to ask what they’ll be making that day). I had the mansaf today and it was a great version, meltingly tender and delicious whole lamb shank served over perfect, al-dente freekeh (I was given a choice of freekeh or rice) with lots of almonds as garnish. It’s really wonderful to have Jordanian/Syrian food on the Kedzie/Lawrence corner again! It’s been way too long. There used to be a wonderful Jordanian restaurant on the same block about 15 years ago-long gone! Katkout is also one of the few restaurants (outside Bridgeview) to serve offal sandwich/wraps. The list includes brain, spleen, tongue, liver, marrow etc. I’ve enjoyed both the brain and the liver. Also recommended is the musakhan wrap (Palestinian chicken wrap/roll) which is not on the menu but can be requested any time.

I caught this restaurant during their soft opening and the owner was super friendly. We got the chicken shawarma with fries and a half chicken. All of it was delicious!! Will return to try their other items!

This place is amazing. If you want authentic shawarma it is a must visit. Not only is the shawarma amazing but the Zinger sandwich that they have here is phenomenal. The food is like you are eating it back home it’s so authentic and full of flavor. If you want amazing food katkout is the place to go

Such a wonderful experience! The food was fresh, and flavorful! The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere made it even better. You can really tell how much care goes into everything here. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Stopped for take out and had a great experience and perfectly spiced shawarma, so juicy. The tabouli was excellent, undressed/on side so not soggy. Loved it will be back often! Looking forward to trying the rotisserie chicken.

This new Palestinian restaurant serves the best shawarma in Chicago, hands down. Everything here is done properly and with care and attention. We tried the chicken shawarma, which is seasoned perfectly, slow cooked over a rotisserie, and served with delicious pomegranate molasses. They have a great selection of sides that all seem to be made in-house. I'm very excited that this place has opened near me and I strongly recommend it!
