Kat's Deli

It's an indoor outdoor place on the boardwalk that has a few seats inside and a few seats outside they have no ice but they do have cold butter water. I had my dog and dogs were on a loud inside so my mom went into order and I got a club sandwich. They put onions on it I was not happy. I've never ordered a club sandwich anywhere in the United States that had onions on it until today but but I was able to eat the top half that just had the meat and the bacon and the cheese. Once our food came so did all the flies because we eat outside. Also after they brought our food outside we had to go back inside for napkins. The food was good big salad wasn't so good. From 1-10 we give it a 5.

Funky and fun with 100% cleanliness rating, offering tasty grilled sandwiches and fast, friendly service (the fast part was great! We were so hungry).The restroom was to the left side of the building from the front door and was clean, too. We will def return to Kat’s when in Hatteras again.

Great little spot for a quick bite! The sweet home avocado wrap was delicious. My friends got the chicken Caesar wrap and Italian sandwich and said they were also very good. Friendly staff, too!

We had the ham and Swiss and the toasted Italian. There are great Italian subs and then you find the ONE! This ONE!! 🤤

Stopped and had lunch at Kat's Deli and was definitely glad we did. I got the Sweet Home Avocado wrap which was excellent to the last bite. The wrap was seared well on the outside and the inside of the wrap was stuffed with tender tasty chicken melted cheese, and avocado. It was very very good. They were busy but kept everything moving seamlessly. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was very clean inside and out. Plenty of outdoor seating. There is nowhere to eat inside. Plenty of parking available. There was a funny hen walking around. She was very docile and would eat any scraps you have. Keep the great food coming. I look forward to going back again.

Went here on a whim today. We got 2 reubens, the guac and roll, and the heirloom something. All three were amazing. Service was fast, prices were better than reasonable for the outstanding quality and we waited less than 10 minutes for our order. I highly recommend this place. The background music was awesome also lol

Super nice little spot with a large selection of sandwiches. Our group really liked the fun names of the specials and some of the regular menu items! Local art/crafts on display and for sale on the walls as well. Food was phenomenal, our group had the Caprese, Big Kid Grilled Cheese, and the Reuben. All we're winners!

Kat's deli did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly, the ambiance is very chic but the food was simply to die for. I tried the Chicken cordon blue sandwich which was amazing! They do not hold back on the meats. My friends enjoyed The Pepi and the Jurassic Pork. All of the sandwiches were incredible in their own unique way. There's definitely an option for whatever mood you're feeling. We will absolutely be coming back! Also honorable mention to their 100% sanitation score.

Great sandwich shop. You order at the register, get a number, then they bring it to you outside. Service was quick. You get a choice of breads and how it's prepared. My wife and I shared the turkey and cheese on sourdough and had it pressed. We had our water bottle with us, but you can purchase bottled carbonated, non-carbonated (tea) drinks, and bottled beer. The sandwich was outstanding. They even plated it separately for us. All the ingredients were fresh. The only thing better would be indoor seating. There were flies around us. However, the weather was perfect. If not, you need to eat in your car (if you're a tourist, like we were).

Absolutely amazing little sandwich shop! Staff is so friendly and willing to give great suggestions. Food is prepared fresh, about 10ish minutes for what we got, and brought to you at your table or packaged to go. Probably the best Italian sub I've had in years, and the suggestions and local favorites don't miss.

The food is great. I had a Rueben and it was so much meat... yum. The hubs had a Philly cheese steak sandwich. It's well worth what you pay for. The price is reasonable. We got chips and a pickle also with our hot sandwiches. We will visit again.

This was awesome! My husband had the Reuben and he said that it was great! My daughter had the avocado chicken wrap and she gobbled that down. I had the black and blue roast beef sandwich and that was also great!!

Kat's Deli is one of my favorite lunch spots on Hatteras Island! They have a pretty big selection of wraps, paninis, and salads. It's a small establishment with limited seating, so I almost always take my order to go. The line can get pretty long during the lunch rush, so I recommend getting there closer to when they open. My go-to is the Sweet Home Avocado wrap, which is lightly grilled and comes with chicken, crunchy bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and ranch. It has so much flavor! I will say, the portions are much smaller than Buxton Munch (my other favorite lunch spot) but still pretty filling.

My sandwich was delicious. The staff was very friendly and there was a cute place to sit outside and eat.

I ordered a Reuben. It was honestly the best Reuben I have ever had. I can't stop thinking about it, it was that good! I wish I was in town longer just to have another one. Delicious.

Arrived at 3:02pm and despite the fact that the Kat's Deli website shows they were open until 4pm, we were informed at the counter that they were closed. I would suggest either calling first to figure out if they are open at all or finding another alternative from the the get go. Would have been nice if they had taken our order given we had driven over 45 minutes to visit, but I guess that would have been reserved for a business who cared about their customers!

Great sandwich place with nice people. Love kids but listened to the same "learning song" at least 20 times by perhaps their sweet daughter? Got a little old after 10 times :)

Kat's is the best! We always try to get to Kat's at least once if not more when we are on Hatteras. Everything I have tried is amazing, but their Rueben is two meals for me and just delicious, I also love the chicken salad. I've tried many others and everything is delicious and they are so nice and friendly. In the winter you might get delivery and dinner specials....alll amazing! This coming from someone who is not a huge deli person. Just go, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic little deli. I had a MTO sandwich with corned beef and my wife had the Shrimp salad special. They whipped the sandwiches out in no time. You must try

Very nice deli. I got the Chicken Cordon Bleu & my wife got the Black & Bleu. Both were very delicious. Nice little shop and seating area. Meals were promptly prepared and was filling. Would recommend for lunch.

Excellent sandwich. Had the " pressed ham" and my wife had "the charlie" and both were tasty. We had to eat inside cause too many flies outside

We met Kat while she was helping out with a friend's rehearsal dinner, and that's when we found out she was the owner of the cute little deli we had passed on the way into town. It was right around the corner from our rental, so we decided to check it out the following day. The little shopping center itself is too cute, and Kat's has a collection of tchotchkes for sale also. To eat, I ordered the Sweet Home Avocado. They were out of tomatoes, but given that it's a warm sandwich I actually think it was better without. It tasted just as good as it looked! My boyfriend ordered the Reuben at Kat's recommendation and really liked it. The pickles were on point and every sandwich comes with chips as well. Definitely a great option for visitors and locals alike!

Kat's Deli was one of the best places I have eaten at in the area. I tried several of their cold sandwiches, with my favorite being the chicken salad sandwich. It was just the right amount of creamy (not TOO much mayonnaise) and had a unique flavor. I ordered it on sourdough bread, which wasn't sour at all (I ordered it two different times just to make sure) but that didn't take away from my overall experience. In addition to the sandwiches, I tried their potato salad and their macaroni salad - both delicious. Of the two, I liked the macaroni salad better. The serving sizes for both sides were large enough to share between two people. There is plenty of parking by Kat's Deli, though the parking lot has lots of potholes and can retain water after a storm. The restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating.

Solid experience as a first time customer. Super friendly staff with reasonably priced food for the beach scene. I shared the unique onion bread turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich with jam with my with and our daughter had the grilled cheese. Very large sandwiches that are definitely shareable. I'm sure we'll come back and maybe even upgrade our rating depending on the 2nd trip. Enjoy.

We tried Kat's Deli because it was the only restaurant we could find open near the ferry. It was not good. My wife's grilled cheese sandwich was really just a cheese sandwich, since it had just barely been toasted on one side and the cheese had not melted at all. Her chicken-noodle soup was very obviously out of a can. My Onion-tended Consequences was better than the grilled cheese, but the avocado was kinda pointless as it was totally overwhelmed by the caramelized-balsamic-onion jam, which didn't really have any onion flavor. Sometimes restaurants don't need to be good, they just need to have a good location. I think that's the case here.

Food was really good! Service was great, very nice people here. Nice little view of the boats coming in from the charters!

Pretty good place! We came here after an unsuccessful attempt at getting on the ferry to Ocracoke Island. It's small sandwich shop with outdoor seating in a nice location. I had the Reuben sandwich, which was very good. The corned beef was tasty and had no fat on it, which is definitely a plus. The pickle was also very good. Overall, I recommend highly!

Food was wonderful! We had the Rueben & Grown Up Grilled Cheese! Service was fast and the staff is great! Hope to return one day.

The attendant at the Museum of the Graveyard of the Atlantic recommend this place. Awesome, freshly prepared just for you!! Don't miss this place. Cute courtyard dining area with umbrellas. My mom and friend both had a different Turkey sandwich and they had a massive amout of meat. They make their own sauces; wraps & sourdough bread are awesome! Be sure to stop by the other shops as well!

Phenomenal Reuben, honestly one of the best Reubens I've ate! Definitely recommend for anyone that is down here visiting or local!

Kat's deli is a must! If you are in the Hatteras area, her restaurant is a destination staple! I haven't been able to visit in a couple of years and I was delighted to see what was new and to see if some classics were still available (oniontended consequence). Needless to say I was more than pleased when I entered an artistic sandwich deli filled with all kinds of handmade gifts including soaps, candles, art, clothes, bags and soooo much more! The staff and owners are so pleasant and attentive. Now what you want to know is HOW WAS THE FOOD?! It was AMAZING! Their sandwiches somehow got even better over time and are crafted to perfection. Every bite you get what you ordered! I'm a forever customer from here on out! I'll be telling everyone hope this helps if you were on the fence you'll be so happy you chose Kats!!!!

This place is great! We go to a ocean pull off near here and having a sandwich place close is great. I wish we found it sooner. From now on we will grab some sandwich's to go and hit the beach. I had one of the specials "Gobble till you Wobble" and it was soooo good. I could never have eaten this before going to the beach, but after being there for hours and being in the water.... I ate every bit of it! It had gravy to dip the sub in.... who doesn't like gravy? I normally will take a little off a review for no fountain drinks but the can drinks were only $1 and that sub was so freaking good.... I just can't do it!

Folks, it was Yelp review of others that made us choose to give this place a shot. We now hope that our review makes you choose this place. Very very good sandwiches. Wife has a Cordon Bleu and had Pastrami and cheddar sandwich. I am not a fan of Swiss and the folks had zero problem making it my way. Both sandwiches were served with a bag a chips and a slice of pickle. No fountain sodas but a full choice of sodas and drinks to choose from. Give this place a sho, you won't be disappointed.

Great first time stop. Practicing good social distancing we ordered and ate outside. The Italian truly was packed with meat, toasted to perfection. The menu was big lots of offerings and I loved they were teamed with a local brewery (lost colony ) over manteo check them also

My family and I ate here for lunch. It was great! The girl at the front counter was very nice. I had the club sandwich but I gotta say my mom and sister ordered a phenomenal sandwich called the onion tended consequences (very punny) with onion jam that gave the sandwich a sweet and salty flavor. A definite must stop while visiting the area! GO KAT'S!

This place is a little gem tucked away that we found by accident and if you like good sandwiches (who doesn't) you owe it to yourself to visit. I ordered the Ruben and loved it so much. The meat was juicy and fresh with lots of flavour, the bread was excellent and for one second I thought i was having this classic sandwich in a Montreal restaurant or a new York deli. Simple and delicious with great ingredients. Just how I love it.

This place is amazing, I really liked my roast beef and bleu cheese sandwich. Our food was all hot and well wrapped for takeout. Only disappointment was the corned beef was on the ferry coming up from Ocracoke and couldn't have that on my sandwich. But thankful to have gotten another choice.

Amazing subs and wraps but on the business part terrible. They never update their hours or they're just closing whenever they want. Always the same problem, agin I went there around 1 pm and they were close. Their facebook page, yelp and google accounts says they're open but no!

Sandwiches were incredible. Everyone that worked there besides one person was incredibly rude. Forgot about coffee we ordered and then just poured hot water into old coffee. Would go back for the sandwiches but wish service was appropriate.

Good for what and where it is! Sandwiches mostly under $10, quick turn-around. My cheesesteak seemed a little small but the meat was good. My wife ordered the special pork belly and peach salad - tasty!

We loved it! It's walk in and order at the counter. They have some seating inside and some seating outside. Sandwiches ranged from $4 for kids and $10 for adults, and they all included chips & a pickle. Drinks were extra and sold individually. Good selection of bottled water, canned soda, and Snapple. We waited less than 10 minutes for 4 sandwiches and they brought it all to our table, and had the entire order correct. Very nice staff also. We are happy we chose this based on yelp reviews. Also, we saw a good assortment of muffins & bagels.

For what it is, here where there is not all too many places, this is a phenomenal little sandwich shop. I'd recommend the Sweet Home Avocado, swap your side out, the standard side is a bagged chip.

Had the chicken Philly sandwich and it was excellent! The bread was soft and the chicken was hot and had a great taste. It was freshly made and wasn't sloppy. Served with a pickle and chips. Would recommend this. Will be going back to try the Italian sandwich.

Good size Sandwiches and a few salads (Cobb, Caesar and House). The BLT had lots of bacon and home grown tomatoes. No gluten free options. Very small dining area. 15 seats inside and outside porch seating. Cute little place. No seafood options. Butternut Squash soup was very good. The cook would prepare food, operate the cash register, make change, deliver food and bus tables all with his gloves on.....yuck!!!

Fantastic little deli that also has some souvenirs for sell. I got the Jurassic Park panini and upgraded the chips for pasta salad. It was delicious. Make sure you grab napkins if you plan to take it to the beach as they don't include any in the bag, however, do have dispensers available.

Damn good wraps. They have beer as well. Super friendly and awesome service. Had the veggie wrap and it was super fresh.

Exceptional sandwiches, we will be back again before we head back to PA. Even their pickles are yummy.

We had a variety of sandwiches, including a daily special and their special soup. It was so amazing, the breads were fresh and nicely toasted. We too home one of their cannoli inspired donuts which originally brought us to the deli, so amazing!

LOVE this place. We always stop in when in the village. Great good, friendly service, and great location. What more could you ask for!?

Excellent, fresh sandwiches. A little pricey but very tasty. Made fresh as soon as you order but the service is quick.
