This is truly a restaurant that doesn’t deserve even one star. We had a reservation, yet upon arrival they told us we’d have to wait 20 minutes, which is completely unacceptable. When I asked why they hadn’t mentioned this on the phone in advance, the owner started yelling, saying they were “doing their best” and even implying they didn’t want to give us a table. Even more concerning, our child has epilepsy, so we can’t afford to miss or significantly delay meal times. We explained this as well and asked whether it wouldn’t have been appropriate to inform us over the phone in advance that there would be a wait. Since it was New Year’s Day, we didn’t want to go elsewhere and reluctantly stayed. Unfortunately, the food was just as bad. The gyukatsu came out with the breading completely falling off, and the udon, which we ordered hot, was served cold. They kept saying that “even with a reservation, this place always makes people wait over 20 minutes,” so consider this a warning. After yelling at us earlier, the owner later came over and offered free fried dumplings as “service,” and said they wouldn’t charge a wine corkage fee. When we said it was fine, they oddly asked why we wouldn’t accept their apology—after never properly apologizing in the first place. The owners seem to be a couple, and the entire experience was absolutely awful. Ending New Year’s Day at what was honestly the worst restaurant experience of my life completely ruined the day.

The concept is great and reminds me of Gyukatsu Motomura in Tokyo. The staff is great too and super polite. We had to wait 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. I heard an employee letting a walk in know that he'd have to wait 45 minutes to an hour. The Udon was good. I definitelt recommend getting the Gyukastu with Udon.The gyukatsu had a good serving size maybe 0.75 lbs of ribeye beef, but it was lean. I would guess they use USDA Select since parts were tough to eat.The rice was hard, it either needed more water or needed to be cooked longer. I normally love eatinf rice, but this was literally too hard to eat. They seemed to be short staffed on the day we went, so some problems could be attributed to that. I would definitelt give them another try.

Atmosphere: 5/5 cozy place that feels intimate Service: 5/5 to preface im a server and bartender, this might be the best service given to me at any spot. the servers were all helpful and got us anything we needed. food: 5/5 legitimately the best katsu and yaniku spot i’ve eaten in my life and i’ve been to japan before :0 overall, i would recommend anyone to come try this hidden gem. I would come back here every week if i could but sadly live in san diego

Great little spot for katsu and curry on a gloomy Friday. Stopped by on a whim cause my GF wanted chicken katsu and happy we did. They have an amazing deal for lunch bentos, with your choice of chicken/pork katsu or shrimp tempura. We tried both the chicken and pork katsu with curry on the side and a kids udon to try out. The udon was full size and delicious. Very delicate broth. Perfect for kids big and small. As for the katsu, I liked the chicken a little more than the pork, but both were great. Paired well with the curry. Katsu sauce was a little on the sweet side for me, but mixed with sriracha, was perfect. The bento comes with a lot of extras too. Cabbage and seaweed salad was my favorite. Takoyaki was ok, but again sauce a little sweet for me (so more sriracha!). Gupta was tasty, but basic and Mac salad was on the lemony side. Service was prompt and very friendly. Checked in on us many times. Loved that they have water at the table for us (KBBQ style) also. Overall score was for value. I think I’ve had better katsu, but for $15, it’s a no brainer. We will also have to come after 4pm for the Izakaya. I have a feeling that’s their specialty.

Best katsu and dinner experiences, I’m not a regular but whenever I am here, we get Katsu set and yakiniku combo, best there is and the charcoal grill is great! I wonder where the owner got it from! Today, we ordered gyoza and shrimp, was also crispy and tasty. Anyways, meat quality is awesome, so tender and tastes so good, ribeye is my favorite. Overall, awesome dining experience, and everyone is so nice and sincere.

My recent dining experience was absolutely outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and received nothing short of amazing service throughout our entire meal. And let's talk about the food! We had the Rib-Eye, and all I have to say is WOW. It was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender, and seasoned to absolute perfection. Seriously one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. If you're looking for a top-notch meal in the area, this place is a must-try in Cerritos! Highly, highly recommend!

I really love cheese katsu!! I honestly feel like there aren’t a lot of katsu places so I was really happy when we stumbled upon this one. They had great service and such a good atmosphere. The food was also delicious and cured my cheese katsu cravings. I also ordered curry to eat with my meal, it was an additional charge but not too bad. Their curry was yummy and a good addition to my katsu/rice. My cousin ordered the bento box and she said everything was really good. It looked really pretty and was stacked up. I’d love to come back here again!

closest thing if you’re craving for gyukatsu motomura from japan. the meat isn’t really as buttery or more on the tender side when you cook it but it’s pretty good. line is long esp on the weekends. loud but somewhat cozy atmosphere and vibes

Great experience for a Friday night with family and friends Food was amazing, a bit crowded but reasonable since that place was cozy full of flavor love decoration at the entrance with the lucky cat statue decoration all asian flare, place linger of delicious dance of aromas like the rib eye stake we get the pleasure to get help to be grill and cut to perfection Everyone was to attentive great positive staff members.. Shout out to Juan our busser to help out us. We definitely coming back soon.

We ordered the Charcoal Combo and the gyukatsu. The Charcoal Combo was overpriced, underwhelming, and ultimately disappointing. If you're looking for BBQ, I'd recommend going elsewhere. The gyukatsu, on the other hand, was excellent and clearly their strength, along with their tonkatsu dishes. The meat combo feels like a profit-driven add-on rather than something that fits their brand, and it actually detracts from their overall reputation in my view. Their highball was also a miss, tasting overly sweet and made with what seemed like cheap whiskey. I'd suggest skipping it and sticking to beer, sake, or soju instead. I do appreciate that they take reservations, and the service was good overall, but I likely wouldn't return unless I specifically wanted tonkatsu dishes.

1/17/2026... 1:30PM: Food was great. Service was good. Black Katsu was... interesting. I'd just stick to a regular pork or wang donkatsu next time. Mixed Tempura, I really enjoyed the mushrooms and shrimp. Think the onions were a bit too thinly sliced. Wang Donkatsu was great. Rice portions were a bit much in my opinion. Overall, had a decent first experience. P.S. I give my review today 4-stars because a homeless man rudely interrupted my lunch with my mom and aunt, asking us for money.

Update: We went back to this spot today with our 4yr old and 1yr old and they loved it. The booths are great for kids because the tables actually sit low for little ones. Only our 1yr old needed a high chair. Our daughter loved every single dish we got. We've also ordered take out and we've enjoyed the food at home. When it's busy it does go a bit slow but I'm glad it's a good family spot for us, besides it being a good date night spot.

Went here for lunch with my 2 friends. We got their lunch bento special, which was roughly $15! It came with cabbage, rice, 2pc gyoza, 2pc takoyaki, seaweed, mac salad, and a katsu. Very worth it! The gyoza was very yummy and crispy. Everything was decently good. I wish the food came out a bit hotter tho. The workers were very sweet checking in on us and refilling our waters. The space seems small but there is a lot of seating and it's not too busy on a Saturday afternoon! I'd come again with friends if I was in the area and wanted well priced Japanese food.

If you're in the area and want a quick katsu fix, Katsumura is a reliable option and will help satisfy that craving. While I wouldn't say it's the absolute best, it definitely scratches the itch and is always nice to have a local option close by. The decor and interior is cozy and is reminiscent of a Japanese lane/alley. Overall feels pretty clean and neat. The food is overall decent - their tonkatsu, cheese katsu, and gyukatsu are all solid choices which come out fairly consistent so you know what you're getting. I do have to say I don't love the dressing for their cabbage salad/slaw and usually end up avoiding it. Service is simple but efficient -- food comes out quickly and without fuss. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so we stick with coming on weeknights which make for easier seating.

First time trying this Katsu resto. From the Yelp photos and reviews, the curry katsu and cheese katsu dishes seem popular. The hubs ordered chicken katsu and I opted for the pork cheese katsu with a side of curry. Our entrees came with rice, thinly shredded cabbage salad, seaweed salad, and macaroni salad. The chix katsu was solid - juicy with a light and crispy panko coating. My pork cheese katsu looked great, however when biting into it, the "pork" was very tough and it was difficult to bite through. Looking closely the "pork" was literally thin slices of ham. Not ham steaks but thin luncheon/deli meat. The cheese katsus I've had before are actually port cutlets pounded thinner and surrounding the mozzarella cheese stuffed inside. This was a big miss. If we ever return, I would def just get the chicken katsu instead. Curry sauce was okay, not great. Normally Japanese curry has more depth and flavor. This one was very mild. Tasted like a korean curry powder packet. Don't think I would get this again either. Overall, it was an ok meal experience.

Updating to mention this establishment is pretty sleazy. I was reviewing the math on our receipt from our recent trip and I noticed: + they added gratuity automatically and didn't mention it to us + they prompted ANOTHER tip page + the suggested tip was based on the inflated price, not the subtotal I just realized I gave them the fattest tip ever. That's super uncool when it isn't very transparent. Like, sure, I could have read the recipe better, but this is still super uncool. Usually there's a disclaimer that there's an auto gratuity or something, which I couldn't find any. And then the second page for the extra tip!!! I feel bamboozled.

Was in the area and trusted Yelpers to stop by and try this place out. The restaurant is definitely cozy and intimate with low ambient lighting throughout. The spaces are narrow and I would call ahead if you're coming with a larger party to see if they can accommodate you. Service was quick and efficient, and they were nice enough to honor the happy hour time for my husband's beer. I got the cheese katsu and the cheese pull was there. The only thing that surprised me was the pork portion of the katsu wasn't prominent. I was expecting a pork cutlet pounded thinly and wrapped in cheese and I got some sort of deli meat in between the cheese. The batter was thin and oil tasted fresher. I hate the taste of old oil so I was glad not to taste it in the katsu. The meal comes with a cabbage salad, seaweed salad and macaroni salad along with a katsu dipping sauce. I opted for a sprite and they serve you a can with a cup of ice so no fountain drink refills. Hubby got the limited time special of the black katsu. It was crispy but I really couldn't tell anything super unique about it besides the visual presentation. He got a side of curry sauce. The style is Japanese but the owner and most of the employees are Korean because I heard them speak it and I speak Korean. I saw some fried tempura and gyoza ordered by some customers and everything looked good so maybe I'll try some of that the next time I visit. Parking is what others have reported, horrible. The spaces are tight and designed to pack as many cars as possible. I don't know why Asian business centric plazas do this, but this place is guilty. I had to park in the Dollar Tree back parking lot.

Decent katsu place that serves up breaded ribeye cuts to be grilled over a small stove on your table top. It is quite fun and the steak it's of a good quality. I'm most pleased that the breading was not really oily. However, beyond the fun food option, the food itself unfortunately it's nothing much to write home about. We had generally good service at the restaurant, but there is weird communication in the beginning. We were first quoted for a wait time of 30 minutes when we first arrived, and then another server came up to us while we were joining the waitlist and told us that we can get seated immediately. Not sure where That miscommunication came from. The parking lot is extremely narrow, and the spots are small. Be prepared to drive around to look for a spot slowly.

The meat was delicious and cooking it was very simple. I do wish there was some sort of soup or rice as a side which felt missing from the combo, but overall good service and great taste!

This is such an amazing place if you're craving some warm Japanese food on a rainy day. I love their katsu and udon combo because you get the best of both worlds. The katsu portion is pretty big and will definitely suffice as 2 meals. They also have the katsu and curry combo available too. The gyukatsu experience was really good since the staff are very attentive and will change out your grill pretty frequently. Overall, would 100% recommend this place! Even better if you make it for happy hour!

We went on a weekend for dinner. There was about a 5-10 minute wait for a table for 2. The ambiance is homey with background chatter. The aisleways were narrow which made the restaurant feel a bit crowded. We ordered the Gyukatsu with Curry, which was underwhelming compared with the gyukatsu we had in Japan. The beef was not that tender and the breading kept falling off upon being grilled. Not sure if there were too many charcoals given to us, but the flames kept rising up around the grill and my fiancé accidentally burned his hand. The curry was just the sauce and kind of tasted like the boxed mixes. The Sweet Potato Katsu was slightly better. I will give it to them for how generous the katsu portion was. It is a pork katsu with cheese and sweet potato filling. The sides (macaroni, cabbage salad, seaweed salad) were nothing to write home about. Service was minimal - you pour your own water with bottles at the table.

My 2nd time here and 100% needed to write a review after the amazing service we received tonight. We were a party of 6 and waited for 30min, not unexpected for a larger group, but also the place was packed! For good reason too. The food is always so solid. I've tried their gyukatsu which is always so tender and fun to cook. This time I had their chicken katsu with curry. My husband said it was his favorite curry so far for katsu. I think their cabbage salad is my favorite one, something about their dressing is just so refreshing and light!!! Such a generous portion as well The service was so accommodating despite how busy it was. The guys are all so friendly and love the atmosphere they were creating. They felt bad that we waited so long so though we got seated right at the end of happy hour, they offered to let us order happy hour. Though we didn't end up getting anything, they gave us "service" of gyoza, which honestly I wanted to try. And it was so good!!! When we asked for more salad, they gave us several bowls

We arrived around 220pm on a Sunday. They close between the hours of 3 and 4pm so their staff can get a Lunch break. We werent sure if we needed to sign in, but the staff asked us how many is in our party and just sat us and provided menus. We were afraid that we would be ignored for the hours they are closed so we tried ordering something before they went on break. The staff assured us they will still be around while he gives the rest of his staff a break. It took between 5-10 minutes for someone to come and take our order. We placed our order for the gyu Ribeye katsu with curry and one with udon. Their price is completely reasonable considering theyre large portions. Another 10-15 minutes went by and no one brought us water or asked us what we would like to drink, so after the food arrived, we asked for water. The udon was brought first before the plates of meat arrived. My husband and I both agreed that it was the best udon and broth that we've ever had! I dont drink broths, but I had theirs! It was just the right amount of saltiness and the udon was cooked perfectly tender. Their gyu ribeye came rare, and they provided us with a small hot plate where we can grill our meat to our liking. I thought that was pretty cool. The breading of the katsu wasnt overpowering. It was very light and some stuck to the hot plate. The curry was delicious and each of these dishes came with a bowl of rice. The rice was fluffy and soft, just the way I like it. The restroom is a little confusing because it has gender neutral signs, but below them had the words women or men's restroom. Customer service could be better but the food was delicious. I wished it wasnt so far because I can go for another bowl of their udon!

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday; we came around 7:30PM on a weekday and there was no wait since we were a small party. We ordered the Cheese Katsu, and the Gyukatsu. Both were super delicious and we loved that we could cook the Gyukatsu on the hot stone. The server there was super attentive and really nice. We just moved back to the area, so it was nice to try all places that popped up. I can see this place getting kind of crowded, so I recommend getting a reservation if possible. The parking lot can also get chaotic, especially if it is the weekend since there are a ton of other restaurants in the same plaza.

First time coming here and blown away by the service! Our server Tim really took our experience and improved it by 1000%. We ordered the combo set and clearly was struggling with the steak, but he came by and in addition to cooking our food, we got to bond with him and get to know the guy. Food was great, but Tim's service took our experience to a new level. He deserves a raise. Really appreciated him! Will definitely be back again.

Looking for a dedicated spot to get some katsu, I found Katsumura here on Yelp. With an overwhelming amount of positive reviews, I figured it might be worthwhile to stop by and give them a try. This restaurant is located in Artesia on the left side of City Plaza. I arrived on a Saturday around 7PM and noticed very long lines waiting outside of the restaurant. But because the restaurant had a digital waitlist, my party of 2 was seated quickly. Looking around, the place was tightly packed and gave off a very intimate hip vibe. And looking at the menu, I could say the same thing. The menu only had a few choices consisting of appetizers, katsu dishes, and beverages. For this visit, I was feeling hungrier than usual and ordered the Wang Donkatsu which was $18.95 at the time of this review. The Wang Donkatsu was described as a Korean style pork katsu that's larger than the typical slab of meat. And when the dish hit the table, there was no question that the price to portion ratio was high. For one, a very large plate held a piece of katsu that took up about 90% of the space. And although each piece was thinner than a typical piece of katsu, each piece was still large enough that it exceeded a typical plate of katsu. With these being said, there was a very high price-to-portion ratio. No questions asked. The quality of this katsu was some of the best I've had in the Southern California area. While the sides of seaweed salad, shredded cabbage, and macaroni salad were pretty typical for a restaurant of this type, the katsu really shined. Not only was the panko breading light yet crispy, the meat also had a juicy yet not too moist flavor that really came out. The katsu was paired with a delicious sauce that seemed to be made in-house which gave an added sweetness to the food. This dish is made up by a few things....and all of those things are done very well. Easily 5 stars. Need I say more? The volume of food is definitely worth the price for this cool katsu shop. And with delicious flavors in the meat, sauce, and sides, I'd be very happy to come back and try more. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant that specializes in katsu and are looking for both quantity and quality, I'd be happy to recommend Katsumura as a top choice in the area!

My group of friends and I loved our visit to Katsumura. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly cooked. We started with the fries, shrimp tempura, and calamari. All came out hot, crispy, and not greasy at all. For our mains, we had the katsu with curry and the ribeye katsu. Both dishes were delicious and the curry was so good. Service was friendly and quick, even though the place was busy. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's located in a busy plaza with other restaurants and shop. Overall, a great experience and a place I would definitely go back to.

We were a party of 8 . This was recommended by a friend and decided to finally try this out with the family. We all ordered the lunch special which cost $14.95. The special includes soup or salad and drinks are separate. Most of us ordered the chicken katsu and I was one of them. I must say, it was prepared and cooked well. They used white meat and amazingly the chicken was not dry; simple cooked to perfection. The pork katsu was also cook well as it was ordered by my uncle. We added two orders of plain edamame and calamari which were both good as well and lastly one order of cheese katsu which I highly recommend adding to your orders. It was delicious. Service was excellent and food came out promptly. The staff attended to our needs. Will definitely come back here again.

Delicious food but don't expect it to totally be like in Tokyo. More like Tokyo inspired food. It was delicious nonetheless. The drinks were sweet and packed a big bang. The restaurant was small and intimate but was super busy and yet the food came out quick and freshly prepared. The service was super friendly and they apologized profusely for being so busy. You know what, it's not a bad thing but maybe go for lunch to avoid the crowds. Def worth checking out!

Katsumara in Artesia absolutely blew me away. For the quality you get, the pricing is honestly kind of unbelievable it feels like you're getting fine-dining flavors without the fine-dining bill. Everything tasted thoughtful, fresh, and genuinely made with care. My favorites were definitely the steak and the steamed egg. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful, and the steamed egg was just so light, silky, and comforting. It's one of those dishes that feels simple but hits in the best way possible. And I have to mention the side dishes they were all amazing. Nothing felt like filler or just put on the table to take up space. Every single side felt intentional, seasoned well, and added to the overall experience of the meal. Customer service? 1000/100. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It's rare to feel that taken care of in a restaurant these days, but they made the whole experience stand out. Overall: Katsumara delivers on both price and quality, with food that's memorable, service that makes you feel valued, and dishes that make you want to come back the next day. Highly recommend.

Katsumura is one of the restaurants that I go to on a monthly basis because of their katsu offerings. It's definitely a go to date night for me. Parking here can be tricky if you're coming on a Friday or weekday night as the restaurant is situated between BCD and Gerry's Grill, both of which get busy. You may have to park a little further but within reasonable walking distance. The restaurant is small and cozy with warm ambient lighting giving it a more intimate feel. The service was quick and efficient in taking our order. I always get the Cheese Katsu with a side of curry. Cheese Katsu 10/10 - By far the best cheese katsu I've had, and I've tried my fair share of them! Katsu Curry is one of my all time favorite foods and the one here is yet to be beat. The portions are huge. The katsu is fried nicely, the breading isn't too thick, which is a critique I have for other places because it scratches the roof of my mouth. The cheese is flavorful and melty with a satisfying cheese pull. The curry is deep with flavor. No complaints. I highly recommend checking this place out for date night, especially if you love cheese katsu! This restaurant is a bit of a drive for me ~40 min but the drive is worth it for the katsu.

this is such a cute spot, and honestly, i will def want to b back it's just i live in sd but i rec to whoever is looking to try it and is hesitant! the meat cooks so nicely and it's so good however long u cook it for. i like the price and it is very reasonable. the servers r also nice and quick and my friend and i loved it overall.

Loved bringing the table side grilling experience from Japan locally, but execution was not up to par. There was about a 30 minute wait for a table of 4 on a Thursday. The meat quality and breading of the curry katsu was pretty standard, nothing that gave a wow factor. I also had a dirty water cup, so that hampered the experience just a little. The curry was good and flavorful and was a good compliment to the grilled meat.

The workers here are very nice and provided us great service. It's difficult to compare this to katsu in Japan, but it was still very good. The Gyukatsu is very affordable (compared to other restaurants in the area), but the crust kept on separating from the meat and it wasn't as tender as I hoped it to be. The Cheese Pork Katsu, was cheesy but it was more like a ham than a piece of plain pork. I would recommend their regular katsu plates instead! Wow! My first time trying cheese katsu and it was amazing. I love when a dish keeps surprising you with every bite, and this one definitely did. The flavors were so unique, and even the side dishes -- from the seaweed salad to the white rice -- were delicious. The restaurant is beautiful, spotless, and welcoming, and our server was super friendly with fantastic recommendations. Such a great experience from start to finish!

Pretty neat decor-feels in Japan; it's modern and small space so when it's packed, it's a fun hang out place. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered beef combo for two and a side of the curry. The meat was fresh and lightly marinated salt. If you like it well seasoned/flavor then this may not be for you. The salad that came with the combo was really good and so curry.

Came here around 7pm. Made a reservation because there's usually a wait at this time. Got the Gyu Katsu, fried calamari, and a couple high balls. The gyu katsu was delicious. This always hits the spot and it satisfies me every single time. The fried calamari was good, more batter than calamari. The highballs went well with everything. The ambiance and atmosphere is amazing. Cozy and a vibe.

I had high expectations for this place based on past reviews and long wait times; however, the food was very underwhelming. I was most excited for the gyu katsu on the hot stone pot, but it was falling apart and extremely dry. My group got the yakiniku sampler but most of the meats were very tough and dry, especially the pork belly. For the price of $115, I felt scammed because the quality was not good at all. 2 stars since the service was really good and they were attentive despite being very busy. The cheese katsu was also yummy. Overall, I would probably not come back just because the quality didn't seem to match the price point.

I was glad to see a new katsu restaurant closer to where I live. The restaurant was well decorated and made me feel like I'm in Japan again. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet the quality I expected. Shrimp Katsu ($17.50) Came with a good amount of shrimps that were lightly fried. They were tender and crispy, though the breading was on the darker side. Gyu Katsu ($21.95) This was a let down for me. The presentation was underwhelming and the breading was falling off the beef slices. Some of the beef pieces had too much tendon so they weren't as tender. I appreciate the servers for proactively changing the grill though. Shumai ($7) Ordered this off their Happy Hour menu (4-7PM). This was different from the traditional shumai. I believe it was wrapped in soy paper. Decent though not mind blowing. Overall, I think it was nice to try, but not worth the hype.

Sweet Potato Katsu- 5/5: I've never tried a sweet potato katsu and it didn't disappoint. It also has cheese inside. Would definitely get this again. Blackened Katsu- 4/5: I believe this was a limited offer. It was good, but I preferred the sweet potato katsu. Curry udon- 3/5: This one was my least favorite. The curry taste was okay and wasn't filled with much. It was 70% broth and a few noodles and toppings.

My Katsumura experience in bullet points: * Great deal on a katsu bento box, just $14.95 (add $3 for Curry sauce) * Fun, upbeat vibe * Not very friendly service, but they were quick & efficient * Bright & clean light wood decor with faux bonsai trees Bottom line: I'd come back, but I've definitely had better curry at a Mitsuwa food stall and better izakaya at Honda Ya

We came here for lunch around 1pm on Saturday. Just waited a few mins for a table. We got the lunch pork Katsu bento box and the grilled Katsu beef plate. Both were delicious and nicely prepared. Friendly service. Easy to find parking.

Service was kind of questionable this last visit, they were very busy but the waiter did not take our order down (didn't know if we ordered rice, and forgot our drinks). The mango iced tea that arrived late was not good. A bunch of syrup at the bottom of my drink, and it wasn't mixed at all. Mixing it briefly didn't do much either, either they slapped in a huge wallop aimlessly or really they should've mixed it before passing it to the customer. Food was no complaint. My friend's katsu was great and the Yakiniku (for 2) beef choice was yummy. Wish they would give brief instruction about what each item is and ask if we needed instructions on how to cook each of the meats.

Delicious and quaint setting! I was super excited to try this spot and it did not disappoint. I got the Gyu Katsu + curry. The breaded cuts of ribeye come out raw and they bring you a grill plate ... 30 seconds on each side and you're good to go. I like to make the perfect bite after sear: sauce dip or curry dip, wasabi, cabbage, seaweed, one elbow of Mac salad and pop it in your mouth! Mmmm!! The chicken katsu was good, and the surimi corn cheese was actually better than I thought it would be.

10/10 Katsumura is a fine establishment with a well thought out interior that complements the eating experience. I came on a Sunday night with my girlfriend and luckily we snagged the last table. Right when walking in I was happily met with friendly staff that I noticed went around and provided good service across the room. The restaurant has a great vibe with intimate seating and really makes you excited for the food. I got the Katsu + Curry combo, and it was some of the best katsu I've had so far :) The meat was tender and the sides were tasty, the rice was well cooked that the curry compliments well. I will come back for sure and highly recommend this location to anyone feeling Katsu!

The place has an eye pleasing aesthetic and yummy food. We came around 10:00ish and was seated at our table right away (it was also a mon night). I was craving soup but also something deep fried. I got the cheese pork potato katsu & udon while my boyfriend got the zaru soba & curry rice. The food was great and breading on the katsu was so nice! Im a huge texture girly so it hit the spot. Our server Tim was just as wonderful and attentive to our table. It was impressive to see him managing alone and serving/bussing tables too! Will definitely come back :)

Katsumura has been on my list for a while, so my girlfriend and I finally stopped by for Saturday lunch and were seated pretty quickly. The $14.95 lunch bento is a great deal--it comes with salad, gyoza, katsu, takoyaki, mac salad, and rice (add curry for $3, which we did). For first-timers, we went with the gyukatsu + curry and cheese katsu + curry. The gyukatsu was the clear winner--served rare with a hot plate so you can sear it yourself. Super fun, still crispy, and packed with flavor, especially with the salt, wasabi, and dipping sauce. The cheese katsu was good but got heavy after a few bites (pretty typical). Salad was a little sweet for me, but my girlfriend liked it. Service was okay--nothing bad, just not super helpful with recommendations. Overall: Food 4/5, Service 3/5, Ambience 4/5. Affordable, fun experience, and worth checking out. Located in a busy plaza with plenty of parking, though it can get crowded. I'd come back--mainly for that gyukatsu.

My wife and I were in the area and came in for dinner at Katsumura. I was able to make reservations with ease via Yelp. Even though it was a busy Sunday night and they seemed a bit short staffed, we were lucky to have Tim as our server. Honestly, we thought he was the manager at first with how knowledgeable and confident he was when talking about the menu. One of the options he recommended was the Yakiniku Charcoal Combo for 2, and it did not disappoint. The combo came with Pork Belly, Ribeye Steak BBQ, Spicy Soup, Salad, Steamed Egg, and a Tuna Mayo Rice Ball. Every single item was delicious. The Ribeye melted in our mouths perfectly tender and full of flavor. The Pork Belly was thick, juicy, and seasoned just right. You could really taste the quality in each bite. The sides were great too. The steamed egg was super light and comforting, and the tuna mayo rice ball was a nice surprise. Big shoutout to Tim for his excellent service and making our dinner feel special. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

My go to spot in Artesia for Katsu. This place can get super busy and parking can be difficult due to the many popular business in the same shopping center. I usually get it to go due to the sit down wait time. Tim usually answers the phone and is super nice & friendly. He will let you know how long the take out order will take and if it's busy to help with pick up time. The katsu is so delicious and sides are perfect too. It comes with Mac salad, rice and seaweed. If you plan on dining in I would highly recommend you make a reservation on yelp or go in to join the yelp waitlist in person. Happy eating! (:

Party of 4 on a Friday evening. Even with checking in, we ended up waiting closer to 30 mins. The restaurant is on the smaller scale but larger parties love coming here. The servers were all very friendly except for one that looked like he was over it. We asked him for chopsticks and I watched him not get the chopsticks. Lol. The food was delicious. I ordered the pork & cheese katsu which came with rice and cabbage salad. For appetizers, we tried the calamari and corn cheese. Both good. The rib eye katsu came with a grilling plate. The owner advised to add a bit of the hot green sauce while cooking the meat to add a nice kick. We also fried the pork katsu, and chicken katsu plates. No complaints for either. All in all, a good place to dine in. Busy but good. Parking is in a shared lot with lots of spaces.

Came here for a weekday dinner with my sister. I got the cheese katsu, she got the curry katsu. The cheese katsu was super cheesy (big win for me) and really filling. The sides were a lot smaller than I remember -- maybe just a couple spoonfuls each. Makes sense since the katsu is heavy on its own, but it was noticeable. We also grabbed a large hot sake during happy hour (not pictured) and split it -- perfect for two. The servers were nice and attentive, even though it was pretty busy for a weekday. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so I can see it filling up quickly during peak times. Parking was easy, but I'm sure that's just because it wasn't the weekend (they share a lot with other restaurants like Gerry's Grill, BCD, etc.). Overall, a solid dinner spot, and worth coming during happy hour for the deals.

If you are craving katsu, come check out this spot! Katsumura has a variety of delicious katsu options to choose from with popular choices like gyu katsu, cheese katsu, and pork katsu! I opted to go for their cheese katsu which comes out on a big platter with cheese oozing out and there's also pork wrapped inside. It comes with a side salad and potato and mac salad. They give you katsu sauce on the side if you want to use it. My cheese katsu was delicious with the crunchy outside of the katsu and the melty cheese with the pork on the inside delivering great comfort food vibes. They give you pretty big pieces and it will you up. The breading wasn't soggy and stayed crispy. The side salads were great and a good palate cleanser to the richness of the katsu. We also ordered some appetizers since we arrived at the tail end of happy hour. We got the edamame which was your standard bowl of salted, hot edamame and some gyoza which was crunchy and had a good amount of filling inside with some sauces on the side. Service was fast and the servers were checking in on tables regularly. We didn't wait long for our food and and the overall vibe was lively as there was lots of tables seated and people enjoying their meal. This is a great spot for katsu and I recommend coming here if you are in the area. Parking is also easy to find out front!

Delicious food! I was so happy to try this place. The udon and katsu combo is a must. I enjoyed how the pork katsu came out hot and crispy. They were very thoughtful in plating, as the katsu comes out on a metal rack on the plate instead of steaming on the plate directly. The sides of the cabbage salad, seaweed salad, and macaroni were great additions to cut the fat as well. Comes with a side of rice too. There is a wagyu katsu cut that comes with a hot plate and you sear the meat yourself. Although the experience is inviting, I found the pork katsu to be more tasty.

Wow! What a great local gem! I've come here on a few different occasions now and even brought friends because I enjoyed it so much! Katsumura is known for their house special Gyu Katsu. You grill the gyu katsu on a hot stone that they put on your table, just like in Japan! The ribeye steak is raw and breaded. You cook each piece individually on the hot stone to cook it yourself. It cooks pretty quickly, so make sure you keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn! Presentation is nice! It comes laid out on a board along with sides, including cabbage salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, seaweed salad, and wasabi. You also get some dipping sauces and rice. There are also other options to add curry sauce or an udon combo. We got the curry sauce, which was nice for pouring over the rice. Their katsu option are also delicious and very sizable! The Sweet Potato Katsu is definitely unique in that it has sweet potato mousse and cheese layered inside of the katsu! It's so good, and I love the sweet/savory flavor combo it creates. It also features a variety of texture from the crispiness of the fried batter to the creamy texture of the mousse and the richness from the cheese. The Mushroom Gravy Pork Katsu was also delicious! You get a generous portion of katsu along with a gravy boat of mushroom gravy. So umami and savory. It went really well with the katsu! All of their katsu entrees include a side of cabbage salad, potato salad, and macaroni salad, along with a bowl of rice. I always leave with leftovers to take home! I would recommend making a reservation, since this restaurant is pretty popular, especially around dinner time!
