We’re so glad we discovered Katsura at SLS South Beach! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The service was top-notch, and the food was absolutely fantastic. A special thank you to Mohamed for his attentiveness—he consistently checked in to ensure everything was delivered on time and that we were enjoying our meal. It’s rare to find a place in South Beach that truly stands out, and Katsura is a real gem. Thank you for leaving us with such a great dining experience—we’ll definitely be back!

Ava was our waitress. She was absolutely phenomenal. Starting from the time we walked through the door she catered to her every need. She knew the menu front and back inside and out. She explained every dish that we questioned, every drink that we had a question about She had an answer . She also had a very vast pilot herself, as she had tried many of the dishes on the menu and could tell us about the taste and the flavor and the ingredients in each one . We went with some of her personal favorites and they ended up being winners! Absolutely yummy delicious we did not leave anything on our plates . I had a fried California roll, and we had a fried tempura. Absolutely amazing. The strawberry shortcake dessert was delightful . The drinks where the martinis and flavored lemonade and ginger ale everything was refreshing and so delicious. The ambience is perfect. The low lighting sets the mood, very calm environment and peaceful you're able to have a conversation and listen to the company that you are keeping or just to have a quiet mind for a moment and enjoy good food . Thoroughly enjoyed this meal would definitely return multiple times. Again the waitress Ava, young lady was absolutely phenomenal and I attribute the five-star rating to most of her performance that evening with her knowledge, understanding and patience and personability.

Definitely will come back!! Jesse took absolutely great care of us at the bar. Drinks are amazingly delicious and creative. Lots of different, new flavors that we could not hold back ordering all the drinks 1 by 1. Bites were truly superb. This rest is inside SLS Miami Beach. They are everything you need for nice drink before heading into the Filmore for a venue....

Google
Amazing food & service! We started with spicy tuna crispy rice and mushroom dumplings. Each bite was more delicious than the last. We had sushi and short rib fried rice as entrees. It was all wonderful.

That was one of a kind experience with beautiful Happy Hour and serving delicious oysters in the sushi bar area with special pricing 5-6 pm. I invited there my son to pamper our taste. I loved the spirit and service. Great idea to bring your teenager and show him how to date.

Google
Perfect spot to go for dinner. It has a very intimate vibe 🤍 I’d go here for special occasions like a date or to have a boogie hang out with friends. The food is delish 🤌

Hello Gente

Google
Last night, my experience at Katsuya in Miami Beach was simply outstanding. This restaurant is renowned for its exceptional Japanese cuisine, and it truly lived up to the hype. We started with a chilled glass of Chardonnay and savored the crispy rice assortment, which was a delightful beginning. The Baked Crab Handroll was an indulgent, buttery delight, and the Lobster Roll was nothing short of spectacular. The Wagyu Tartare is a must-try, and the Salmon Robata was incredibly delicious. However, it was the Wagyu Picanha that truly stole the show with its tender perfection. For dessert, the Chocolate Yuzu Keki and Donuts with coconut glaze were heavenly. Katsuya is a versatile spot suitable for friends, family gatherings, or business meetings, and the ambiance with great music adds to the experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Katsuya – it's an unforgettable culinary journey. Don't forget to share your experience and tag me if you try these dishes on your next visit!

Google
It’s always hard to rate a restaurant at average but I was truly disappointed by every single dish I had here recently and I spent $300 as a solo diner. The service was good, not great. I refilled my water the entire evening. I had to ask other servers to help expedite a new drink order. My server had some knowledge of sake but not advanced; even disagreeable. But I could deal with all of that and still lean on the 5-star rating. It was really the food quality and the staff training. Why were there yellow (turned) leaves in my salad? (See picture). Why was the rice refrigerator cold? For a 4-star resort restaurant, I don’t expect to see staff clustered in an open corner chatting away - it’s an absolute corporate and management fail. It’s clearly a management restructure of cutting costs where they can and no love or culture in the environment. Their last accolade was in 2007, and, while you want to praise that, I’ve enjoyed better quality in Benihana - and I despise places like that! You’re clearly here for the scene. It’s really meant for non-foodie tourists to name drop a place they’ve been. The sake selection was the best part of the menu. I kept trying over and over to try their small bites I thought they might excel in but you’re better off at a Roy’s. As you can tell, I’m SUPER disappointed by the quality but trying to be nice enough to give them an average rating. Clearly an upper management corporate fail. I won’t be returning…

Yelp
Incredible food, service and vibe. We love coming here. Recommend the tuna tataki. Great specialty drink selections as well.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restaurant, but just couldn't warm to it. The energy just wasn't there. I came for happy hour and was ready to spend some time enjoying my appetizers, in a slow and deliberate sequence. Instead, all three selections were almost delivered simultaneously, almost before I had a few sips of my (delicious) cocktail. I felt almost rushed. All of the dishes were well executed, but the magic was somehow missing. - The salmon crispy rice was very good. - The salmon lemon roll was bland without much lemon flavor- I was glad that it was served with wasabi and pickled ginger. - There were plentiful recommendations for their short rib so I tried the short rib bao - shredded short rib was tasty (albeit barely warm) and the bun was pillowy. A good size. I did like the Katsuya French cocktail - a bright amd refreshing drink.

Yelp
Gorgeous, sexy space with creative cocktails and a fantastic happy hour! Came with with friends during Basel for a drink and we were not disappointed. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the warm glow of the room. I had the Jaja Picante, which was a tequila based cocktail with spicy peppers and cilantro. Right up my alley as I do not like sweet drinks! Also ordered was a drink that came in a kitty mug (always appealing to me as a cat lover) and a smoky (literally, it was set on fire!) old fashioned. We had already eaten, but the happy hour food menu looked fantastic, so we had the asparagus fries, which did not disappoint! I will definitely be back to fully enjoy the HH menu! They only had one bartender working (during Basel!!) so the service was a little slow, but she was certainly friendly, even though she was working hard.

Yelp
Mediocre Japanese food. The whole restaurant has really red lighting which makes it a little hard to see and especially hard to see what's in the food. We got the avocado crispy rice, which was good, and the vegetable fried rice. The rice had a lot of burnt bits and tasted super strongly of ginger and nothing else. It was also pricey for the portions, which is to be expected for a hotel on south beach, but still. I would recommend trying a different spot.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had. We went off the Miami Spice 2024 menu ($60 per person for a selection of appetizer, main course, and dessert) plus an add-on of their brussels sprouts. The meal was exceptional, and every flavor was mouthwatering delicious. Nestled in the corner of the SLS hotel on South Beach, it has a simple yet attractive ambience. Chef Katsuya invented the crispy rice, which is a lightly pan fried sushi rice topped with a piece of tuna and avocado. The miso glazed black cod is one of the best meals I've ever ever had. It is melt in your mouth delicious having been marinated for more than 24 hours in a brown sugar and miso sauce. Not only would I recommend it to anyone, but I will be craving it for years to come.

Yelp
Went with another couple on a recent Saturday evening, 9/14/24. Don't live on the Beach, and well not worth going to even if you live on the Beach, unless you just go to the bar if Adam is bartending. He is really good. The restaurant for food so-so. Did enjoy the Truffle Ponzu Ceviche. However the tuna on the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice was very weird. Their "signature" Black Cod was pretty bad. We should've stayed just at the bar with Adam helping us.

Yelp
Great happy hour! Cocktails are half off during happy hour and they have a special food menu too. The jaja picante cocktail has the perfect mix of cilantro and spice from the Serrano peppers...had to order a second one! The short rib fried rice was the winning dish. Would not recommend the truffle fatty tuna crispy rice appetizer...the butter from frying the rice was overpowering and the tuna was way too ground up and didn't seem fresh. Service barside was exceptional!

Yelp
Maybe we should have stayed away from the happy hour menu, but the items we ordered from both happy hour and dinner menu were mediocre for me. I might be spoiled because I live in Vegas and the neighborhood mid-tier places are better. We got the short rib fried rice, crispy rice salmon, sashimi moriawase, a couple other plates, and dessert. Honestly, nothing stood out and even the dessert was disappointing. My strawberry shortcake had Talenti sorbet and it just didn't feel up to the standards of a fancy dessert. The sashimi quality was that of a mid-tier place (referencing Vegas standards again). Out of the hyped sushi fusion places in Miami, I suggest Nobu because it's a similar price point with more imaginative dishes and better quality. Katsuya wasn't all mediocre- the servers were absolutely excellent and the ambiance was amazing. I'd just recommend tempering your expectations for the food quality.

Yelp
Absolutely. That's what I'd be saying if you asked if I recommend Katsuya. This was such a beautiful dinner; the food, the atmosphere, the hospitality. These dishes had me acting a little dramatic every time I'd put the first bite in my mouth. Acting like I'd never tasted good food before. But I was in disbelief. I had tried a few dishes from Katsuya in the past, but they were not near as good as the ones I tried this round. They were out of most of the nigiri/sashimi options. I can't remember if we went on a tue or wed, but they said their weekly shipments come in on Thursday. (Don't quote me on that as they may have changed their shipment date) Sorry for the red light district photos lol!!
google avatar

Yelp
I NEVER leave 5 stars, ever. The food was amazing. The short rib fried rice is a must. Sushi is amazing. Rayne (definitely spelled her name wrong) was one of the best servers we've had. This place should have more than a 4 star rating.

Yelp
Beautiful place in the SLS hotel Food was ok , drinks are amazing and the service is great We always like this restaurant back in LA Can't not to pay attention to the big mold on the ac Makes everything feel so bad Please clean it

Yelp
We had a fabulous date night at Katsuya. The service was amazing, great vibes (we loved the music) and pretty nice sushi selection. Although we were in a date night we tend to take our children to nicer restaurants, I saw a few families so I'd say around the time we went (early evening) it appeared to be pretty family friendly. We will definitely be back. Only bad thing was the bathrooms. They were terrible!! I'll spare the details but I mentioned it to the manager and it was quickly addressed. The bathrooms are shared with the hotel so not all on the Katsuya staff

Yelp
A+ happy hour! Delicious and affordable bites, sushi, crispy rice, miso soup, and all craft cocktails are %50 off! Mondays are locals and industry night where you can get up to 50% off!! Delicious. Staff are attentive and quick, Filippo was amazing and he just finished his training!!!! 10/10

Yelp
Disappointing unfortunately. Came in excited cause I hadn't been to Katsuya in a while and honestly think the chain's quality has gone down (used to go to the LA Live location often but this was the first time at the Miami Beach location). We came in late so we put the full order in when we sat which wasn't a problem and the server was very nice and attentive. The restaurant itself is very nice but it's too bad that the taste is mediocre considering the price point. The dessert was the best tasting dish.

Yelp
New years dinner for $75pp at Katsuya was super delicious. Loved the rock shrimp and Brussel sprouts (both very large portions), as well as the umami wagyu gyoza. The chicken Jidori and bao buns were good but not the most memorable. Ended the meal with a multi layered chocolate yuzu cake with fresh citrus notes and crunchy white chocolate. We were able to book via open table and add on open bar at the Hyde Beach New Year's party for $125pp which was a great deal. $50 valet and attentive service made the whole evening a breeze.

Yelp
This is a really good sushi restaurant for Miami Beach, but I'd generally say it's a level below the best New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, or San Francisco restaurants (or Japan, but that's kind of obvious). Points for being adventurous and innovative, and great drinks, excellent service at the table, and overall good quality of everything -- I just prefer tradition, and maybe slightly better fish for the price (which is quite high, but that's South Beach -- it was about $1700 for 4 of us with the set menu, some add-ons, and a bunch of drinks.)
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Overpriced & lacking flavors. Service was decent contrary to the reviews here - but the timing of the dishes were off. Waited until we finished the short rib until we got our rice and mushroom robata items. The katsuya roll was pretty decent, but nothing too special. It comes with a little tooth pick for each of the pieces so things don't fall out. Short ribs were dry and the mushrooms severely lacked seasoning and really any flavor. Would prob come here for drinks only, but hard pass on the food. The atmosphere is quite pleasant though!

Peter K.

Yelp
rice "grainy" - slightly undercooked. Ordered Carafe of nigori sake - arrived filtered.

Yelp
Katsuya had good food and service but, it was an odd (yet enjoyable) experience. First, getting to the restaurant was interesting. Katsuya is located in the SLS hotel but in order to get to the restaurant you not only walk through the lobby, but through the center of another restaurant and then out of the back doors to the pool area where Katsuya is on your left. Once inside the restaurant it was much smaller than I had imagined it would be based off the online pictures. The next odd thing was, over the course of dinner the restaurant kept playing with the lights, they would go down and then go back up again. This happened maybe three or four times. While these were weird occurrences, I do not think that they took too much away from the meal. The rolls were good, especially their specialty rolls. I suggest trying the "Rock Shrimp Tempura" and the "Lobster" rolls. However, the item that you 100% must try is the "Crispy Brussel Sprouts". These "brussels sprouts" are marinated with "Balsamic T sume" and have an amazing taste. If you are typically a person who does not eat sushi there are also alternative options for you such as steak, vegetables and soup. As far as the service went, the employees were kind and regularly checked in on our group throughout the course of the meal. Overall, Katsuya had good food and service. I would recommend eating here only if you are a big fan of sushi as it is a bit expensive.

Yelp
Best sushi in Miami Beach. Best Happy Hour (6-8) in Miami Beach. I'd eat here every day if I lived in Miami. Kudos sushi chefs and drink master.

Yelp
My first time at Katsuya was during Miami Spice and it was a great experience. The restaurant isn't big so it gives a luxurious atmosphere to the experience. Our waitress was attentive and informative regarding the menus they had to offer. Our favorite tapas we had were the miso ribs and brussel sprouts.
google avatar

Joey M.

Yelp
Well the most important part: the food was absolutely delicious. We started with crispy rice, continued on to a couple different nigiri rolls (the amaebi which was deep sea shrimp was our favorite one, the madai or fish definitely had a fishier taste but still very buttery). We had the chicken fried rice as well, Im a big texture person and the shaved cabbage was such a great addition. We also had some of the hokkaido scallop tiradito, which was thinly sliced and sitting in a lovely , citrusy zest to it.by far though: our favorite dish was the short rib sliders which were in bao buns, they marinade it for 24 hours and you can absolutely tell. The server was great as well and actually recommended about half the things we ordered so thanks so much for that!

Yelp
For 2 people, we had Omakase and hamachi kama, sake cocktails, beers... bill came out to be close to $500. I really dont mind to pay that kind of $$$$ if the foods is worth it, BUT they were not worth it. I've had Omakase at at least over 50+ various restaurants, and this place was the worst ever so far Initially I thought, the reason Omakase was not good maybe because FL s JP foods are pretty much all fusion hence they really don't know what's the right Omakase. So we ordered couple other dishes just to see. And they were all very disappointing. Ponzu sauce tasted like soy sauce with no citrus in it. Everything is covered with dark overly salty sauce which is the opposite of typical Japanese cosine. Service was pushy, someone will come by and try to take our Omakase plates away every minute . They have no basic concept of certain kind of fine dinning foods need to take time to taste and enjoy. In case you are not familiar with South Beach, FL, i can tell you a few things here. ... All restaurants add 18% automatic service charge to the bill & on top of it, they will suggest you to tip them more Our overall experience is DO NOT recommend. Go to the next door Bazzart might have better goods !

Rodrigo T.

Yelp
We did Miami Spice, everything was delicious. We ordered crispy rice, appetizer ribs, wagyu, tuna nigiri, and deserts. Everything had such rich flavor! Our drinks were phenomenal too. We ordered lychee martini, espresso martini, a dirty martini, and their old fashion. Felipo (the bartender) made them perfectly!

Yelp
Katsuya was once one of my favorite restaurants, hands down. Whether is was West Hollywood, Las Vegas (now closed), Miami or Nassau, Bahamas, I always jumped at the chance to dine at one of their locations. Tonight, I made a reservation for the south beach Miami location since I'm in town for a conference and I thought it odd that there had only been 8 reservations today. When I arrived, the service started out ok. My waiter took my food and drink orders, and initially he was attentive enough. Not friendly, but acceptable. Then he disappeared without saying anything and eventually another waiter came over to ask if I needed anything. At the time, I was eating my entree, so said no thanks. After that initial ask, she never came back until I finally had to inquire from a kitchen staff member. When she finally came to my table, she understood that she had completely neglected any further service. I told her that I was finished and asked for my tab. She tried several times to get me to order another cocktail or dessert "on the house". I declined anything further so she finally brought the check. In retrospect, the food was mediocre at best and i probably would have let it go. But after the terrible service, I simply couldn't not leave a review. Sad, but frankly if they don't make improvements all around, I'm not very optimistic about their future. In light of only eight reservations on open table, it appears that locals have already figured it out and I'm late to the game.. Sad!!

Yelp
Great food, very fresh, service was great and the ambiance is awesome, bright and cozy

Yelp
Located in the SLS Miami Beach, whose entrance is grand and flashy (high end cars parked up front with a red carpet greeting you in). Inside it's trendy, but if you look close enough a bit dated. Perhaps this is the historical building challenge or maybe they do need to upgrade a bit. You have to walk through the middle of one restaurant to get to this one... it's a bit odd, but I think they tried to use the space the best they can. I heard Katsuya is quite trendy, but for a midweek dinner we were one of two or three seated tables. It was quite empty and didn't really fill out like the other restaurant we walked through. I felt the decor was a bit drab for such a trendy space, yet I could see if it were a full night perhaps you wouldn't even notice due to the cozy effect of all those bodies in a smaller room. Tonight the room seemed larger because not many seats were full. The bathrooms are in a cellar. Not my favorite location, distance or design from our restaurant. Service was top notch. Our server was attentive, quick yet not overly hovering. The food, which I consider my main part, was high quality and well presented and thought out. The rock ship was of a good portion for a Miami spice appetizer and incredibly seasoned, as was the spicy tuna roll and jalapeño yellowtail sashimi. The miso black cod was beautifully presented and placed. The Bronzino looked good, but heard complaints of fine bones. The black cod, which I got, was quality fish, but me and another felt too salty from the kitchen. We ordered some more sushi: the rock shrimp roll and the crab hand roll, both quite good. We upgraded the crab roll to only use real crab... not opt to mix the imitation. The sorbet, donuts and their special miso marshmallow cake were all quite delicious. The staff were all friendly and tried to be as flexible with our requests and attentive to allergens as possible. A+ for them!

Yelp
Went for happy hour on a Thursday. There was plenty of seating, it was an airy, modern design. The bartender was friendly and service was great! He made us a special cocktail that was fantastic! I got the spicy tuna temaki which was tender, flavorful and delish! I ordered a second one after. It is a strong happy hour for the amount of options, how good they are, the service and especially the prices! Would definitely go back to try more and maybe for a full dinner!

Mike G.

Yelp
The sushi and sake were both very bad. Fish was not fresh and was sliced extremly thin. Do not reccomend anyone go here
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Another OpenTable reservation for the win here! This week we've stayed near the SLS and now that we've eaten at both restaurants inside the hotel- couldn't be more pleased. Service here was unmatched. With so much to choose from, we opted for the sushi set- its chef choice of the sashimi and nigiri and then there are two specialty rolls and the special tuna roll. Lots of amazing flavors with top notch sushi. Drinks seemed a bit overpriced for what they were with the sake but then again most of Miami Beach/South Beach is in the same boat.
google avatar

Jack K.

Yelp
I have been to the katsuya in la and that one is for sure so much better then this one. I was not impressed with the food so gave up on taking pics. Everything just tasted bla and for the price we paid it should have been on point. The sushi spot down the street was better then this crap.
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
Visited this location while staying at the SLS south beach and really enjoyed my experience. We got the Katsuya sampler which featured sashimi, crispy rice, nigiri, maki, and many other things. Everything was really good and more than enough for two people. Only underwhelming thing was the crispy rice. Drink were pretty solid as well. The dinner came out to $267 with tip.
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
Katsuya is located behind the SLS hotel, through the lobby and restaurant, outside and inside of another door. It was an awkward way to enter a dining establishment that comes highly recommended by its chef and followers. We dined outside near the pool which was very relaxing, the ambiance and lighting was overtaken by the night club behind it causing my 4 star review. As we sat down to dine we noticed several garbages and trashes being taken out through the out door seating terrace it's understandable due to space, but requires a lid for sanitary purposes making the experience feel less exclusive. Our waitress was super kind and offered an overview of the menu and suggestions, we took all of them but for two people that was incredibly too much food. The upsell vs. quantity needed was off. We were there for quite some time but were only offered cocktails twice. We ordered the following : Salmon sashimi & caviar - a beautifully light fresh starter with the most mild caviar. Spicy tuna crispy rice- perfectly prepared crispy rice, with tuna on top which was perfect King crab tempura- this was absolutely our dish we ordered and would absolutely order 100x over Rock shrimp tempura roll - the shrimp is on top of the roll. This is a meal itself the shrimp was great! The roll less desirable Wagyu Gyoza- unlike any other Gyoza with such elevated taste we wish there were more. Salmon lemon roll due to the amount we ordered this just got lost in the menu with everything else. Lobster dynamite - the lobster dynamite was a little disappointing there was more mushroom than lobster, all chopped up together as a lobster salad. It tastes great, I wish we would have known it was a lobster salad so we could have ordered something else Nigiri :: O-toro Salmon Overall this was a great dining experience

Yelp
I come to South Beach a few times a year and I find myself always in the mood for sushi. I look to explore a new sushi place but always end up at Katsuya and it's never a bad thing. Tried & True, quality remains to never disappoint, service is never compromised & the ambiance is as sexy and intimate as it was the first time I dined here. Located in the center of SLS, it might confuse new comers since you have to walk through another restaurant on property to get to Katsuya but don't let the awkward entry sway you, it's worth the visit!
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Possibly the best meal I've had in a long time. Definitely the best sushi I've ever had too. Sydney our server was wonderful. Very patience and helpful when it came to decision making time. The rock shrimp app was a fan favorite followed by the Upside Down Roll. The Katsuya roll was delicious too. Such fresh sushi makes a massive dinner in your dining experience. Oh and get the donuts.
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
If you run a business or just enjoy ones that work well listen to this - can you imagine how hard it is to have two 5 star experiences? Both at the SLS hotel Katsura did just that.
google avatar

Cristina O.

Yelp
Overpriced, good food. Katsuya is located behind the SLS hotel, meaning you have to go through the hotel lobby to enter the restaurant... a little awkward tbh. My boyfriend and I went for Miami Spice, so our selections were limited. We went around opening time and were seated pretty quickly. The menu was available via QR code. I was able to try the Popcorn Rock Shrimp (highly recommend! very good!, the Wagyu Fried Rice (it was alright, I've had better wagyu), and for dessert, the Donuts & Chawanmushi (which to be honest, looked better than they tasted. Both desserts were very plain and lacking in flavor). Overall, not a bad experience. Food was good, but nothing impressive. I'm not sure if I'd be back to try any of the regular menu items.

Yelp
Ate here with a girlfriend and her boss on Friday night and it was absolutely delicious. AJ, Balthazar and Sara were our spectacular serving team who brought out and array of dishes and drinks with professionalism and smiles. We ordered several of the appetizers and some various sorts of sushi rolls. Unfortunately, I had quite a bit to drink so I didn't take note at the time of dinner (though I did get pictures) so I can't recall exactly which dishes we specifically ordered. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, and it's a chic, friendly, and delicious place to grab drinks and dinner for after work, date nights, anniversary dinners etc. The happy hour menu is great because virtually everything on menu is half price. Definitely a must eat!!

Yelp
SLS a prestigious hotel in SOBE is also known for its restaurants. Katsuya, a Japanese inspired cuisine serves anything from sashimi and sushi to hibachi grill and raw appetizers. The food was quite good but, nothing that you can't get in any other restaurant. Simple fried rice, Brussels and edamame just to name a few. The ambience and decor however, is just average. Hardwood chairs and sinking banquets. The place is in a desperate need of renovation to keep up with all the modern restaurants opening up in South Beach.

Yelp
I love me a good happy hour and Katsuya has it. Go upstairs to the private lounge and order away. I legit got two orders of the Brussels sprouts because they were amazing. Spicy tuna with crispy rice is always a must! I also had the crab hand roll and some rock shrimp, ceviche, oh and a marg because it is happy hour after all. Food service is a bit slow but it didn't matter. The bartenders were really friendly and it's a great spot to kick back.

Yelp
Had the most delicious sushi dinner at Katsuya! The fish was super fresh and all the dishes we tried were yum! Definitely get tuna toro with caviar - amazing taste and beautiful presentation, crab hand roll is a must. We tried couple more dishes and everything was top-notch. I also like to have my sushi with lychee martini - the best! The service we got from Fernando was also top. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
TLDR: pretty sure I got food poisoning here but the desserts are decent We came to Katsuya for a holiday weekend (mostly because everywhere else was already booked out). It's located in a little area behind the hotel (a bit unintuitive to get to). I would not recommend getting any of the seafood here even though it's a sushi restaurant - definitely not the most fresh and I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from the sushi I ordered here the next morning (0/10). In terms of desserts, the one with the fire is super fun albeit mediocre tasting and the donuts are just okay. All in all, wouldn't recommend this place

Yelp
My husband and I got married at the SLS Brickell in October 2021. We came to the SLS South Beach yesterday for a day away from home. Since the restaurant is located inside the hotel we figured we'd make a reservation for dinner. BIG MISTAKE. We walked in a very happy couple hoping to share a lovely meal together. Instead we were treated to poor service, long wait times, and were basically kicked out of the hotel for "trespassing" only because we wanted to know where our food was. My husband asked our server how much longer the food would take. She began to argue with us (literally) in front of other guests. After some back and forth, she brought over a woman, whom I assume is the manager, who also began to argue with us and insult my husband. After some more back and forth with this terrible person, she tells us that she has called security and that we need to leave the restaurant. REALLY? After bringing up the long wait and asking about our food? Fine. We get back to our room and are already soured by the despicable staff at this establishment. As we are about to start brushing our teeth and getting ready for bed, there is a knock on our door. Well, apparently the so-called manager of the restaurant has not only called security to boot us from the restaurant, but she's called the police to have us removed from the hotel for trespassing. TRESPASSING? I cannot believe that I trusted the SLS brand and business with my wedding. I am appalled that we experienced this. It was not only humiliating to us, but it also ruined what was supposed to be a nice mini overnight getaway for my husband and me. Do not eat at this place unless you are willing to suffer being belittled and humiliated by staff who find it entertaining to eject/remove you from the premises when you ask about your food.

Yelp
Really good sushi experience overall. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were immediately seated on time, and noticed they did a great job of staggering seating well enough that everything came out right as it was being made. The food was good. For the price though, I had expected exceptional. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, with good texture, and fantastic taste. I wish I'd just ordered a lot of sashimi and stayed away from the rolls. The roles were just ok. Nothing special. The waitress recommended cooked rolls that were more about tempuras and sauce. That's not my preference so I asked for ones that were fresh and less saucy. All of the roles ended up tasting like any regular sushi spot in NYC. Overall though, good food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere.

Yelp
It's NOT a FANCY PLACE to go to. The place itself looks old and dirty. Testing menu which is $125/ person and there was almost no fish ( oh, before booking I made them a call and asked if they offer omakase menu, after a long pause a rappresentative said : "yes, we do have a testing menu") Just to be clear, omakase, a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave themselves in the hands of a chef and receive a meal which is seasonal, elegant, artistic and uses the finest ingredients available ... I guess that night was no fish left for us. We receive a lot of elegant Brussel sprouts, some artistically dry herb, mushroom. We also had a bottle of sake, which wasn't that bad but definitely overpriced. The total bill was $600 Last but not least, There were 2 ugly hostess that looked like mom and daughter and uncared waitress with messed up hair. This place is nothing like Katsuya Brikell btw. They definitely need to make some changes/ renovation before charging such prices ..

Yelp
We came here for Miami spice and omg it's been our favorite Miami spice so far. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will definately be back for regular menu to try out more dishes. I usually don't like cooked fish but I would 100% come back and order the miso black cod, it was delicious. Spicy tuna roll was to die for, as well as the yellowtail sashimi. The ribs were extremely tender and full of flavor. Our server was knowledgeable and kind. We loved our experience here

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant! Beautifully decorated and nice lighting. Our table had a couch/booth type of set up with pillows on one side which was very comfortable and relaxing. Our server was laid back and attentive, did great managing our party of two along with other tables and a large party. The food was absolutely delicious! The short rib sliders were amazing, small and comes with 2 but well worth it. The king ora salmon was perfectly cooked and came in a type of butter sauce that complimented the salmon very well without taking away from the salmon. My fiancé loved their rolls (lobster, eel, and shrimp tempura). I also appreciated the selection for virgin drinks (I'm pregnant). I got the tiki tiki and it was great!
