The food was amazing and the server was lovely. We dined in and had different itmes, everything was delecious. We ordered Mongolian beef and it was really good so I decided to takeaway one for my husband. I asked my husband how was it and he said it was mainly onions.

We’ve visited this place a couple of times and everything we’ve tried is delicious. We recommend the Chengdu dumplings, beef noodle soup, and Dan Dan noodle soup. Noodles and dumplings are handmade, and the quality of the ingredients is good. You can tell because, for example, the beef is not super fatty, but tender and flavory. Their menu is fully available in their website but they don’t display the ingredients in detail. Be mindful of potential food allergies, particularly soy and seafood. For instance, wonton soup is made with shrimp and pork, and there’s no option to request it shrimp-free in case of allergies because their soups are already done, similar for spicy soups. Price is fair respect to other restaurants in the area, but flavor is much better respect to other local noodle places we’ve tried. The only thing we did not like is that they use single-use plastic glasses and they don’t refill if you want more water, instead, they give you a new plastic glass. This small restaurant is at a strip mall with parking available. There is a Pokémon Go gym and a pokéstop at reach from the restaurant. This place only has a small bathroom for customers at the back of the kitchen. Service is fast and ladies are very friendly. We fully recommend this family-friendly restaurant!! Plus, a fortune cookie is given to each costumer!!

I’ve had Katy’s Dumplings on my list of places to go for a while but never made it out that way without already having plans. So after my hair apt I figured out I was only 10min away and thought ‘That Yourself!’ Because everyone online was raving about it. I was so excited. It’s very easy to find and parking was abundant. I pulled up and walked through the double door. You can sit anywhere. I chose a seat for 2 because it was just me. I was given a menu right away. I looked over the items and decided on the Cold Cucumbers (not pictured), the Dan Dan Noodles, and Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings). The cucumbers were drenched in a soy sauce and garlic, nothing special. They were good because they were refreshing and cold. I would not order them again for $8 when a cucumber is $.75 each. The Dan Dan Noodles, which is located under soup, I was hoping wasn’t soup like the Oak Park menu said, but it was soup. My tummy does not do well with the oil in the soup, so I was to eat it because I had places to go after. The Xiao Long Bao’s were good. I would go back and eat these, but I do wish they had a little bit more soup in them. I felt like it was a quick eye dropper of liquid and I was really eating just a steamed gyoza, which is delicious! Overall I would go back and try some other items (especially to look at The cute guy that works there 😌). But I would not get the same items I got this time.

Hmm. I lived in Taiwan and traveled throughout Asia for 7 years, and have had lots of beef noodle soup from different countries. This did not do it for me, unfortunately. While the beef was tender and the noodles chewy (both pluses), the broth was very lackluster for my personal taste. It was very one dimensional, and only tasted spicy. Not flavorful spicy, just bland spicy. And I like spicy! Their other food is probably good, and it’s possible we just caught a bad batch. Staff was very friendly!

Ever since I first visited the original Katy’s dimpling location in Naperville (20 years ago?) I’ve made it a regular whenever I’m out in the western suburbs. One of those great restaurants where everything on the menu is worth ordering. This time we had pork/chive dumplings, fried pork bamboo, shredded pancake, and garlic eggplant. But choose your own mix and you won’t go wrong. I only wish they were closer to me. We were there at 7:00 on a Sunday night and the line for a table was going out the door.

Google
The food was INCREDIBLE! The location is small and very busy but it's so busy for a good reason. The food is amazing. We had the beef chow mein, pork buns, soup dumplings, and gyoza. The noodles were so good and oh my god the pork buns were like biscuits, they were flaky and delicious. The soup dumplings were light and tasty with the most sumptuous soup inside. I highly recommend this restaurant. Please come willing to wait and not bring a huge party. It's absolutely worth the wait!

We live downtown but come here as often as we can. One of the rare places that does authentic Chinese food perfectly as well as the American crowd pleasers. 10/10

I ordered online for shrimp noodle soup but when I arrived home after picking up it was fried… even the receipt says fried. If they no longer had the item then the website should be updated and someone should’ve called before switching it out. My boyfriend also had the runs after his chicken noodle soup and dumplings all night… I’ve come and ordered takeout here before so this time was such a bummer lol.

Yelp
Highlights/Recommendations: Pan-fried Pork and Chives Dumplings Stir-fried green beans Other foods: Dan-dan noodles Beef Noodle Soup Dry chili chicken Scallion pancake Soup Dumplings I've been meaning to go to this restaurant for awhile but unfortunately had always been a bit too far of a drive. I finally found an excuse to be in the Westmont area and was quite happy that I stopped by. The restaurant itself is very small for dine-in but since we came during off-hours, our group of 4 didn't have trouble finding seating. Living up to the restaurant's name, the pan-fried pork and chive dumplings were one of the highlights of the meal. It had a good flavor profile and was pan fried properly to give the skin the desired crispy texture. The (double?) stir-fried green beans were also a surprising hit and was one of the first dishes to be cleared out by our group (eating family style). Both the dan-dan noodles and beef noodle soup were solid and something I would order again. Scallion pancake and soup dumplings were also fine though not particularly notable for me. Only the dry chili chicken was somewhat disappointing. Dry chili chicken is something I almost always order at restaurants if offered, but the dry chili chicken here didn't quite have the texture or flavor profile that I typically expect (and love). It was less crispy than I expected and I didn't crave additional bites after the first as I typically would. Despite that, food was overall still very enjoyable and I would absolutely visit again!

Yelp
Katy's dumplings never fails to deliver a good meal . And Katy if this is the server is a complete stick , never fails to make me laugh. Good service great food a must see . Ask her to tell you a joke , her Chinese humor will crack you up

Yelp
We came during the off hours on a weekday so we easily got a table. The restaurant is quite small, so I could imagine how crowded it would get during peak hours. We were met with friendly and impeccable service! We came hungry and sampled many of the dishes. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal! I particularly liked the chive and pork dumplings and stir fried green beans. The dumpling skins had the perfect amount of chew. The noodle soups (dan dan and beef noodle soup) were tasty as well. I liked the texture of the noodles, and the meat was tender. A really satisfying meal!

Yelp
Amazinggg!!! Againn!!!! We returned here for the 4th time on Thursday night and were surprised to see it so busy....obviously the food speaks for itself!!!! We got the dry chili chicken again - was perfectly light and crispy...so flavorful!! We also tried grandmas fried rice with chicken - it was soooo good, comforting and full of flavor!!! Always love the cozy ambience here!! It has now been added to our list of frequent dinner spots!!

Yelp
So you walk in this place and see a few different tables, the place looks like it's made for takeout only. However, the service is anything but take out. Servers help you determine what you want and are friendly and patient. We ordered the Beef dumplings and they tasted great! Dip them in some soy and vinegar and you got a great meal. We also ordered the veggie chow mein and orange chicken: the portions are enough to share and all tastes amazing! It's really a hidden gem. This place serves a variety of fried or boiled dumplings and other entrees t share. I'm glad we found it because we are coming back!!

Yelp
My wife and I decided to stop by on a whim while visiting from two hours north, and we couldn't be happier that we did! We shared the Mongolian beef, chicken noodle soup, and soup dumplings, all of which were absolutely fantastic. Each dish was bursting with flavor and left us craving more. In fact, I'd happily make the trip again just to enjoy this same meal. A big thank you to the incredibly attentive staff who made our experience even better. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Not sure what happened to Katy's but this is the second time and I'm not too happy . I was an avid fan of the chengdu spicy dumplings . Usually they are nice and moist covered with the sauce and were actually spicy and contained chili flakes in the sauce . Second time no chilli flakes . The orange chicken was so overcooked it wasn't even edible , so hard . The fried rice was hard and has a burnt taste . $60 down the drain and I'm not happy !!! I can't eat this . It was very busy when I went but that shouldn't affect your quality

Yelp
Overall - we enjoyed our experience and food here. I don't recommend trying for a table there - it's quite small...unless you're on an off hour or don't mind a wait. We were lucky enough to go early for dinner and get a table. Menu-wise, I was a tad confused and there wasn't much description on the menu - which made it hard to order b/c I was asking a lot of questions. Even today - I couldn't tell you really what we ordered a few weeks ago. We started with some spicy dumplings and they were quite good. I "think" my husband had the dan dan noodles soup and I got one of the pancakes. Couldn't tell you which one - even by looking at the menu today. I took half of mine home and it reheated nicely. Overall - good food, but just wish there was more description on the menu and what was in each dish.

Yelp
Food is always consistently good Service is good, family style Only downside is that it's a small place, eat n go, ppl waiting for your table

Yelp
Delicious!! I'm so glad we picked this place for lunch today. The soup dumplings and the pork and chive dumplings were fantastic and the bbq pork buns were perfect. We also had the Mongolian beef which we loved. Service was quick and portions were generous. I couldn't have asked for a better lunch.

Yelp
This place is the best Asian food around. The dumplings, noodle bowls and chow mein were all amazing! I cannot wait to go back. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I was here years ago and realized I never reviewed it. Since I'm back in the area to visit friends, we decided on a lunch stop today. This time I went with the beef noodle soup, my friend had the wonton noodle soup, then we split the shrimp & chive dumplings and BBQ buns. The beef noodle soup was nice. Good level of spiciness for me. Very tender pieces of meat and the noodles have a great texture. I tried the wonton soup and would love to get that at some point. Shrimp and chive dumplings have a great filling and I'm a big fan of the dumpling skin texture. BBQ pork buns are fluffy with a crisp bottom. It can get crowded in a small space, but the turnover is quick and service is really great. Things come out as they're ready, so it's hot and fresh.

Yelp
So, the food is 5/5. Reason why I took off a star is because the restaurant is very small for dining in. I've only dined in once because I was lucky at the time. Other times it's been a take out. It doesn't help that some people just loiter even after paying and getting food boxed up. Just remember that. Service is average, they get the food to you fast. Dumplings are juicy not dry or flavorless. Usually, I only come for dumplings and beef tendon noodle soup but next time I'll try some of their stir fried pancakes Triple delight dumplings 5/5 Pork napa dumplings 5/5 Beef with scallions dumplings 5/5 Soup dumplings 5/5 Beef tendon noodle soup 5/5

Yelp
Was around for an event and decided to check our this chinese restaurant, which was ranked #1 on yelp for Chinese food. It did not disappoint. Beef noodle soup was one of the best I've had. Soup was spicy but not overly so. Not too salty. Looks like hand made noodle. Thick. Beef was fatty and gelatinous. Yum. Portion was food but 75% noodle 25% beef. Fries pancake - we got this b/c it was unique to their restaurant. Indeed, I've never heard of a concept before!. Instead of noodles, it was shredded pancake (chinese, not American) with an assortment of meat. A little bit dry and chewy, but once you got used it it was pretty good!. needed hot sauce, which theirs was great. We arrived 10 minutes before the kitchen closed 830pm. Service was FAST. Order to Food on table was less than 10 minutes. Service was pretty good for a chinese restaurant. Above average for sure. Ambiance was loud, busy in a packed small chinese restaurant. Authentic Chinese, but has taste profile for masses. Awesome, fast service. You can't beat that.

Yelp
The food is FANTASTIC and the service is wonderful. My husband raved about Katy's for months after he went a few times on lunch from work. We finally got to go together and I think I might have a small obsession now! The dumplings were some of the best I've ever had. We also had the fried rice, pork and veggie buns (to die for) and the beef noodles.

Yelp
Part 2 of 5 Memorial Day weekend APIHM series. I had to pick up a couple of soup and cheng du dumplings because Katy's is the best in the area. The dumplings are made fresh on-site and are authentic. The pork and vegetables are well-seasoned and the wrappers had the perfect texture. I must make plans to dine in one of these days. I bought my owner containers for the carryout. They were happily obliged.

Yelp
This restaurant is always packed when I come. It's such a small restaurant which you should make reservations before coming. The soup dumpling is a must to order. The crab rangoon was also delicious as well. The service here is on point and the food comes out quickly. I would just order the dumplings steamed and not pan fried because they only pan fry one side. This is my go to dumpling spot whenever I don't want to drive all the way to Chinatown.
google avatar

Yelp
Let me start by saying: everytime I order at Katy's (a couple time each year) I try something new and I've never had anything I didn't like. Most times I order, I get soup dumplings and the spicy beef noodle soup cause they're so darn good! Recently we tried the Chung Du Dumplings and the Beef Fried Noodles and the Chung Du dumplings might be my new favorite menu item! Katy's is authentic, fresh and has unmatched quality.

Zoe O.

Yelp
If you come here, GET THE SOUP DUMPLINGS & pork buns! My favorite soup dumplings ever. The service is quick and friendly. Nice small restaurant to support.

Yelp
Oodles of noodles, Even though this is a restaurant that specializes in noodles, there is such a thing as too many noodles. I had previously been to Katy's years ago when it was in Naperville. My favorite dish was the beef noodle soup, so I knew I had to try this again. It used to be so good but not anymore. They basically filled the bowl with noodles and with whatever space was left in the bowl they put the broth and a little beef. It was really disappointing. Everything we ordered was overflowing with noodles, so much so that when you were done with your meal you still had a full plate or bowl of noodles left over. They asked if we wanted to box what was left...... Uh no. Box just the noodles? The only thing that wasn't overflowing with noodles was the pot stickers, which honestly weren't that good either. I've bought a frozen bag of pot stickers that were just as good. Lastly, they are super small and really not managed very well. I put my name on the list when I showed up and saw that there were 2 names or groups before me but no one else was there waiting for a table. As I was waiting this old lady came out and asked if I wanted the only open table so I sat down and took it. A minute later someone else came out and asked that I get up because that table was for whoever was next on the list. It was very frustrating before I even sat down to eat. Not worth it in my eyes.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Katy's via Google while in the area with my husband. We live in the city so we weren't familiar with food options in town but we're beyond pleasantly surprised with the food and price at Katy's! I had read how small the place is so I called ahead to see if we could grab a table and luckily we only had to wait a few minutes after arriving. There are probably less than 10 tables, and yes it's cramped but worth a tasty, hot meal. Our server was very nice and offered suggestions and some hot tea! Our order: -Beef noodle soup- wow the noodles and broth flavor! The bowl is big so we shared. I could eat this every week, especially when it's cold and gross out. -Pork and chive dumplings- pretty tasty and not overly fried. Served with the vinegar, soy sauce and chili oil on the table -Grandma's spicy fried rice- I didn't try this but my husband said it wasn't very spicy, he likes things extra hot like burn your tongue level (maybe just me)...but he said it was still good. -Mongolian beef- a recommendation from our waitress as we couldn't decide what to get. It was pretty good and flavorful. Plenty of meat and side of rice. If we find ourselves in the area again we'll definitely come back and try more things!
google avatar

Joan S.

Yelp
If I could give more stars I would. The only thing I would change is a bigger dining area and closer to my house. I was blown away by the soup. I got half beef with half beef tendon as recommended by another Yelper. I would come every single day if I lived closer though lol. The depth of flavor and also the texture of the noodles were phenomenal. Worth every penny. Cannot wait to try more. Please open a location closer to Plainfield.

Yelp
Lovely small restaurant with great food! My first time visiting after my DC recommended after we had dumpings at QXY in Chinatown and he highly recommended this Katy's dumplings and here I was yesterday for an early dinner. When I arrived to the parking lot I realized it's the 赵老二restaurant I have heard 10 years ago highly recommended by other Chinese friends. I did not know it's called Katy's dumplings in English. I ordered the beef noodle soup and 50 frozen dumplings to go. The lady was very friendly and had a small conversation while I was there. The beef noodle is super! Beef is tender and delicious! Definitely going back to try more!
google avatar

Yelp
My stomach and heart were so happy after leaving this place. My friend took me here this past weekend and I'm so happy he did - the food was delicious! We got the bbq pork buns, dumplings, and crab Rangoon. All came out super hot so you know it's cooked fresh. Crab Rangoon was delicious; a lot of places just taste like cream cheese but you definitely got crab essence in these. Dumplings we're delectable, there's the crunchy/spicy chili on the table so you can pour some on top of the dumplings. BBQ pork buns were also packed with flavor. Service was good, ladies kept checking in during our meal. Place is super small (like 6 four-top tables) so I can see it getting packed at night with a long wait time. All in all I will be bringing my friends and family here one day because I'm dreaming about the dumplings and would love to try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
I love me some authentic XLB! For reference, my favorite soup dumpling place is din tai fung in Cali and have been in search for a spot here in Illinois that doesn't have to take me all the way to Chinatown. And I think I found it. Though a little bit a ways from my home, I would not mind trekking in the cold Chicago winter for this gem! First off, the food. We ordered beef noodle soup, green beans, and XLB. All were winners. The beef in the noodle soup is tender and outstandingly paired with perfectly cooked noodles and not too spicy broth. The XLB was delicious. Don't think, just order them! For a small place, the service was great! My daughter spilled water all over our table and no one was bothered and they were very kind to us. They even gave my daughter a red envelope for Chinese new year! The only thing is, it is tight quarters inside and I don't recommend this for large groups, but that only adds to its charm. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My parents bought 50 total frozen dumplings (half were chive/pork and the other half were cabbage/pork) that totaled over 50 dollars. They found the skins of the dumplings to be too thick and lacked an adequate amount of meat. Additionally, the filling felt too salty and had a strange after taste. The food quality that was received felt very disappointing especially for the cost.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
I went to Katy's Dumplings to try out their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. When I perused their menu, I noticed they had tendon as well, so I asked for half beef and half tendon. Overall, I was impressed the amount of food that came with the dish. The shank and tendon were tender and the pickled mustard greens had great flavor! The noodles surprisingly I wasn't a huge fan. Though they are made in house, the noodles somewhat lacked the doughy consistency. I hope to be back again to try out some different dishes. Also, this restaurant has very limited seating, less than ten tables. So plan on going early for lunch or dinner, so you can grab a table.

Yelp
Food is nothing less than OUTSTANDING!!!! My 2nd review HAD TOO! I love this place, I usually go when I have a doctor's appointment (stones throw away) To Go, eating all the way home. Today my friend & I able to go for lunch....they never never never disappoint! Service so friendly and helpful with dish descriptions. I ventured and tried the Sour Cabbage Lamb Soup-was sure I would like it. I am a True Believer!! DELICIOUSNESS in a bowl. Highly recommend it! Crab Rangoon, delicious soup noodles are a must it's a little explosion of joy in your mouth. Everything there is fresh delicious the ambience is so wonderful it's small but it's so quaint. It is welcoming. Delicious I know they do take out. They do phone orders online orders. It is so good. If you're looking for a place to eat and you're in Westmont, even if you're not in Westmont, go to Katy's Dumpling You will not regret it !
google avatar

Yelp
Katy's is so delicious. Our favorite dish is the fried noodles, and their fried rice ranks as 2nd on the list of things to eat. I know they are known for their dumplings but it just doesn't hit the spot for us, we've definitely had better. This is our go to comfort meal that never disappoints !
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
When in Oak Brook I had to try a new restaurant! When learning about their homemade dumplings and noodles, I was eager to try Katy's! Everything I tasted was delicious! The scallion pancake was crispy and piping hot! The Mongolian beef had tender beef pieces and a rich sauce. I wish there was a bit more meat included! The dan dan noodles were the perfect texture and chew, but SPICY! I like spicy, but could barely eat these, definitely be careful when ordering them. And of course, the xiao long bao we're very tasty.
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
Been driving past this place for years and finally stopped in. Super friendly and quick service. Excellent food. Definitely will return. Had the Dan Dan Noodles and "spicy" was actually SPICY!
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous authentic food. Love the right level of spice. Consistent for more than a decade.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and ambiance It's my go to place visiting about 6x a year. Can highly recommend Katy's.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Katy's Dumplings is excellent! It's a great little place and worth visiting. The Beef Noodle soup was fantastic, as were the handmade dumplings and noodles. Authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The price was decent, especially considering the serving size. But do yourself a favor and go try anything from this menu, you will not be disappointed. The dumplings are incredible! But everything from the scallion pancake, BBQ pork bun, or fried rice is amazing. Just go! Great food and a delicious treat for everyone in the family. The service was fast and always willing to help. The mood was good and nobody there seemed angry or sad. This place is definitely a gem in this area.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Everything I had so far at this place pops with flavor. So good. Little expensive but worth it. All the Dumplings, pork lo mein, wonton soup are incredible. I'd be back more often if they had specials. Highly recommenced a+

Yelp
A great mom and pop down to earth place with limited seating yet clean but great dumplings . The vegetarian dumplings were really good with glass vermicelli noodles done just right and not mushy and over cooked and mushrooms and other veges like scallion and deep fried just right. The skin was good too and not salty. But I had the mixed veges w shrimp rice and it was salty so I had to add more veges when I got home. The flavor was a white sauce. The beef noodles looked good and there was a hefty portion that provided 2 meals when taken home. Definitely will enjoy the dumplings again bc that's what I heard they are known for and they didn't disappoint.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Not your average Chinese restaurants. Katy's dumplings offers a variety of pot stickers and dumplings as well as homemade noodle dishes. My fav is the beef fried noodle. Everytime we come here we try a couple different things on the menu. We've really enjoyed all the food we've eaten here. Only con is the restaurant is very tiny so seating can be hard to come by at times. Majority of the time we've come here though the restaurant is packed and seems to get a large amount of take out orders which speaks to the quality of the food.
google avatar

Karolina J.

Yelp
I've had this place 4 times now and today was the first I've been disappointed. The soup dumplings are usually a must get but unfortunately today 7 out of 8 of my dumplings cracked while being made so they didn't have any soup in them :( their fried rice is probably my favorite in the area, not at all greasy. My husband likes their pork and chive dumplings and their egg rolls. I've had the pancake (not sure why it's called that , it's just noodles) and it was just okay. We've always done take out since we have kids and the place is pretty small and tight inside.
google avatar

Jorge M.

Yelp
My Stomach has not felt perfectly FULL and HAPPY in a long time. My friends said they wanted to eat here and I wanted to go somewhere else. I'm soooo glad we decided to go here! The dumplings were delightful that's hard to describe. Definitely definitely try Grandmas Fried Rice if you love SPICY FOOD. OMG even the vegetable were yummy, can't remember what it is called. I'm sure if you show them they will let you know. Try it, you won't regret it. Only downfall about the place it's not spacious.

Hobs L.

Yelp
Had a late night dinner w my wife and 1.5 yr old kid. We were visiting from LA. The ladies who served us were very nice and patient with us as we were there close to their closing time. I give three stars because the food was good but too salty. I'd like to try again next time we visit. Hopefully it was just an off night.

Yelp
Decided we wanted Chinese and stumbled on Katy's. It's a small restaurant that's busy with dine in and take out orders. We were quickly seated and started with an order of soup dumplings. The dumplings were a little disappointing, there wasn't much soup and they were on the smaller side. We ordered the combination noodles for the kids, my husband ordered the beef noodle soup and I got the Dan Dan noodles. The combination noodles were delicious the serving was huge. It was enough to feed three people easily. My kids really enjoyed it. The Dan Dan noodles had a great flavor but the pork was overly seasoned. This mad the dish inedible. It was so salty, so disappointing as the broth and noodles were perfect. My husbands beef noodle soup was delicious the beef melted in your mouth. Again great noodles and flavor profile. I would come and try the beef noodles for sure. Great service as well we were pretty hungry and everything came out very quickly.

Cozy spot. Delicious food! Mongolian Beef was tender and melted in your mouth. We will be back

It don't know if they changed anything but I found the boiled dumplings and potstickers lacked flavor. The dough was perfect but just thought they could have more flavor and this is why the rating. The beef fried noodles we excellent! Service was great and food was delivered hot. I will try again as this was my go to spot prior to COVID when in town.

Yelp
The inside of this location of Katys dumplings is pretty small, don't know how big the other one is. The tables are pretty close to each other as well. So you're pretty close to other guests (not that big of a deal unless you get a lot of food). Not a ton of tables either and if you go on a Friday evening expect to wait 10-20 minutes and they'll give you a call when your table is ready. A lot of people seem to do take out, I wonder if its because of that reason. Now when it comes to the food. For drinks they have a couple bottled and canned beverages and for water they have one jug they refill and dispense to guests. No soda refills since it's canned, they don't have a soda fountain. The things my fiance and I ordered were some soup dumplings, stir fried green beans, shrimp chow mein, and Mongolian Chicken, they also provide each guest with some steamed rice. The chow mein was ok, I didn't think to highly of it, my fiance said it wasn't bad. The Mongolian Chicken I didn't really care for too much and neither did my fiance but it was ok as well. The soup dumplings were definitely better than the chow mein and monogolian chicken but having soup dumplings at other places, I think they could of had more broth. The chilli oil they give on the side is fantastic with it. The best thing we both thought were the stir fried green beans, that came out phenomenal. Overall it was an ok experience.

Yelp
Before we had checked out Chef June's Dumplings. It was now time to check out the other place. Katy's Dumplings is another Chinese restaurant featuring this item in Westmont. After going to the other place we were curious. The contest of which place has the better dumplings was a fun time. After looking at the menu online, it seemed it wasn't quite as big. It of course still has plenty to choose from, whether it's dumplings or not. The choice again was narrowed to our criteria, meaning we got the Vegetarian Dumplings as the others were filled mostly with chicken or pork. It's $10.95 at lunch. These also came with soy and hot pepper sauces. It came in classic Chinese takeout containers. We got a surprise. It was a surprise that what we got didn't look like dumplings. These were most definitely potstickers. Even though they weren't exactly dumplings, these were good. These were filled with cabbage, carrots, celery, mushrooms, and tofu. Basically the same filling as the dumplings. These were potstickers so they were crunchy rather than soft but we still liked these enough to eat these in spite. For sure I wish we got actual dumplings. In any situation, the potstickers were still good. This shows even the cooks at a Chinese restaurant can get confused about which is which.

Yelp
Kay's Dumplings in Westmont is the type of place you would drive past time and time again and not think much of it. A small restaurant in a strip mall hidden from traffic on Ogen, but if you turn down Cass and head north and slow down and look carefully and slow down even more and as long as a tall vehicle is not parked in front of the place you might just see it. Maybe. Finally the time had come. I had passed by only a few hundred times and remembered that this place was here which turned out to be an excellent experience. The service was on point. The ambiance of a restaurant the size of my living room was nicely done and then there was the food. I for sure know that this is a meal that had that home cooked, from scratch the recipe might not be written down probably isn't well that's the way we've been making it for generations and get out of my way I'll do it you go clear a table I'll finish this while I do 20 things at once but that's what makes me happy we're not going to open a larger or second location because we're happy this way type of place. I couldn't get enough. You should know it's BYOB.

Yelp
Very small seating area, so be prepared to wait. We walked in right at opening and within five minutes all tables were full. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to children. Made our young son a paper helicopter from chop stick wrappers. Food was outstanding. We tried a lot and probably ordered too much, but could not stop it was so delicious.

Yelp
We don't make it out to the south burbs very often, but when we do we know it's a great chance to try some places out that are out of reach (the pains of not owning a car). While scoping out Yelp, my eyes were drawn to a China buffet nearby, a guilty pleasure of mine - until I noticed I already reviewed it eight years ago. Can't waste this car rental on a repeat, even if I completely forgot about it! Through Eater and some twelve year old Yelp review from friends, we ended up at Katy's. It was a super rainy Sunday night, but it was still decently busy inside. They don't have high chairs so we just brought in our son in his car seat. The staff was extremely nice, and were excited to have a baby in the house. Even the manager's mother came by and chatted with us about her own kids and raising them. The food is definitely worthy of its accolades. We got the triple delight dumplings, dan dan noodle soup, and mala dry pot. Obviously they're know for the dumplings (which my baby enjoyed as well as us), but those other two dishes have me wanting to call up Enterprise for another car rental. Both had that tongue numbing spice you want. The soup was rich with a healthy amount of noods with a nice chew to them. We got lamb for our dry pot, which also had a bunch of veggies and shrimp and mushrooms and peanuts...yeah, it was loaded. We're not quite ready to move to the burbs, but places like Katy's sure make it enticing. Definitely a must visit if you're around town!
