I was pleasantly met with such a lovely experience at Katz Coffee. I was in the mood for coffee or a matcha for my afternoon pick me up and stumbled upon Katz Coffee. Located in East Spring Branch, the coffee shop is nestled between supplier stores and warehouses its exterior certainly blends in with its surroundings. However, the interior is quite eclectic, fun, with fond pictures, news articles throughout. I ordered an ice matcha that was delicious! Nice amount of sweetness and this flavor was definitely more nutty compared to others I've tried. To my surprise I took out my card to pay and was told the drinks at the cafe are complimentary. That was such a lovely surprise that I definitely do not take for granted. The employees educated us on the reasoning behind the cafe's mission and naturally I researched more about the company as well. I will certainly patron this cafe and continue to tip, purchase products to support their cause.

Loved the Christmas spirit in the coffee shop. It was packed to the gills today when I went during 10am on a Monday. I had the best matcha latte ever!!!

I knew nothing about awesome coffee until I had my first cup of Katz Coffee. You can tell from the first sip that this place cares about the coffee they put their name on from the farmer to the final product. To think that I used to drink coffee from those little plastic cups! My favorites are Texas Pecan and Jumping Mouse. You can stop into their place on Karbach and see what the awesome baristas are brewing up in the lobby, grab a bag or two online, or even a coffee subscription. They support so many amazing groups around Houston with their special blends. Love all of you at Katz. Nothing else since 2014.

I didn’t initially realize it’s actually a full-on roastery where they sell coffee beans and all kinds of coffee-related goods 🫘⚙️ They made me a white mocha latte that was absolute perfection in a cup 🤍☕️ The espresso was rich, bold, and deeply satisfying, and even with half the usual dose of white mocha syrup, the flavor balance was spot on 👌🔥 The biggest shock of all? They told me the drinks were complimentary 😲🙌 Their business is centered on selling beans and coffee equipment, which honestly just makes me want to support them even more. I’ll definitely be back—and next time I’ll be very tempted to leave with a bag of beans, a mug, or something fun to take home 😄🛍️ A fantastic experience from start to finish—highly recommend checking it out.

This coffee roaster is hands down one of the best spots in town. The atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed, with just the right vibe whether you want to hang out for a bit or just stop in to grab something to go. The smell of fresh roasted beans hits you as soon as you walk in, and it sets the tone for how good the coffee really is. I’ve tried a variety of their drinks, and everything has been consistently excellent, but my absolute favorite is their Velvet Espresso. The name says it all — it’s smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, with a velvety finish that makes every sip satisfying. It’s so good that it’s become part of my daily routine. I actually buy it by the bag and brew it at home every single morning. I can honestly say it’s the best espresso blend I’ve ever had, and nothing else compares. On top of the great coffee, the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. They take the time to answer questions and make you feel welcome, which makes the experience even better. The aroma alone could make anyone swoon! 😍 But it’s not just about how delicious their coffee is (though, seriously, it's SO good I could probably run a marathon after a cup). What really impressed me was their heart. Katz Coffee isn’t just about brewing the perfect roast—they’re brewing positive change in the community. I was thrilled to learn they actively support Veterans with PTSD and other incredible causes. Their commitment to giving back is just as strong as their coffee game. So, if you love your cup of joe to come with a side of doing good, Katz Coffee is where it's at. Plus, who doesn’t want to start their day knowing their caffeine fix is making the world a little better? 10/10 would highly recommend – and will definitely be back for another cup (or three). ☕✨

Really enjoyed the coffee here - I came in at 9 to do some work and grab a cup of coffee. I got the pumpkin spice latte, which had a pumpkin spice syrup which wasn't too sweet - a perfect balance to the espresso. Extremely generous of the team to provide free coffee for the community. There was a long line already and two baristas making drinks. I would recommend getting to the shop during off hours (mid morning or lunch) if you don't want to wait in a long line, but well worth the wait if you do come during peak hours! Not the best place to work, especially since there is a lack of outlets in the space and the tables are small. I also bought a bag of coffee beans, and they were able to grind them to a moka pot coffee ground consistency! So far, my morning coffees these past few weeks with this blend + moka pot setup have been excellent.

I come here for my coffee beans because it's cheaper than getting them at HEB, they grind the beans for me, and I get complimentary coffee. The staff are also always very nice and helpful. The only con about this place is that the hours are pretty limited. If you work typical office hours, you'll probably never be able to come here because they close by 4pm and are only open on weekdays. I usually order some sweet-sounding latte they have on their seasonal menu, but it's never actually sweet. Much more of a bitter coffee flavor every time. Haven't tried asking for it to be sweeter, so maybe I'll try that next time. They do have a drink station with sugar packets, napkins, and straws though too. Also, remember to bring cash to tip!

Great spot great customer service. You can go to meet someone for a cup of coffee or just to relax by yourself. You can also purchase some of the coffee to take home and make it yourself i recommend visiting

Anyone who knows coffee in Houston, likely knows Katz as one of the biggest local brands. So many of the reviews here are paying tribute to Katz as a product, but my review is actually about the location and the coffee itself. I walked in here completely blind. As a relatively new'ish Houstonian, I had no idea what the big deal was. I saw a highly rated "cafe" on Yelp and decided to come here to knock out some work and stay caffeinated in the process. When I walked in the doors at 9AM, I saw almost no one except one worker. He explained to me they don't sell coffee drinks here, but that they sell coffee beans / bags instead. He pointed to the wall of different coffee blends and said, "That's our money maker. We don't sell drinks though." And I thought I had made a mistake and was about to walk out. He then offered to make me a drink and I then noticed an entire menu of different drinks. "You don't sell drinks here? What's the menu all about?" And it dawned on me: they're free. Buy a bag, drink all the coffee in house you want. Brilliant. So I got a nitro cold brew and sat down to enjoy some of their semi-fast WiFi. There were couches and individual chairs and slowly but surely folks started trickling in and just ordering espressos, flavored lattes, and even their "Houston Strong" medium / dark roast drip. For free. At the very bottom of the dry erase board read: "All drinks are made complimentary + made with liquid love from the Katz fam." I love their various blends that span all around the world including countries like Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Kenya, Honduras, Costa Rica, etc. For coffee lovers, they make for great gifts and they even have special blends for University of Houston fans. I am not even the biggest coffee fan, but they've now got one in me. I plan on being a regular in no time.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Great service and cute cafe ambience. First tried this when my brother in law sent us coffee for Christmas, so I had to go pay a visit when I was in town recently. They offer two complimentary coffee items when you are there, no catch! They also gave my son a hot chocolate too. Great selection of ground and whole bean coffee. Smooth flavors. Bought a few to take home as well, check out the pics! I've definitely become a fan.

I've never been inside the establishment so the review is strictly for the bag of coffee they sell and let me tell you, it's rich, smooth, not bitter and delicious! I've had the Cafe Olla that I bought at Red Oak Cafe in LC and it's one of my favorites. The flavors are chocolate, cinnamon, anise and it contains sugar but not overly sweet! Talk about Christmas in a cup! I recently got the Jumping Mouse Blend from a golf tourney in Galveston and it reminds me of the Milky Way coffee I get at the local coffee shop. I loove it!!! Nutty, caramel, chocolate goodness!! Can't wait to visit in person one of these days!!

I almost don't want to share this hidden gem because it's become my sanctuary while working on the road, catching up on emails, and meeting one-on-one with coworkers and clients. The vibe here is unique--the music is a fantastic collection of classic vinyl, and the coffee is a local brand that I love to support. Tucked away and blissfully uncrowded compared to the major chains, this place is a true find. I can't help but rave about their products, but please, let's keep this serene spot our little secret!

first off I love the coffee that we get from Katz. We order Katz even now that we live in the Washington DC area. It's fantastic. More importantly their customer service is fantastic. I goofed up and ordered 32 pounds of coffee when I meant to order 3 - 2 lb bags of coffee. Doh! Well, a quick call to them and they graciously corrected my mistake Thanks Katz! PS next time I will not use voice to text when I order

Really nice industrial ambiance and eclectic decor. We bought some coffee beans and they grounded them for us which was really great. My sister got the Costa Rica Finca Calle Lajas and I got the Texas Hill Country Pecan. We also got a hot and iced coffee to go! Great place to get some work done!

Such an awesome place! Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Great coffee and fun atmosphere! Additionally the coffee is free which is neat. Service is great too. If I'm ever back in that area, I'll be sure to stop by again. 10/10 would recommend.

Local coffee distributor in the heart of Houston. Katz coffee is a staple and I'm sure many of y'all have tried there many blends throughout the surrounding local restaurants! Staff here was extremely helpful and gave recommendations and is able to make anything at the coffee bar to meet your caffeine needs! Def a great place to try a cup in their local store front distribution! A must try no doubt! Overall rating: 10/10

I never realized it's Katz's coffee in my favorite Price coffee liqueur. I'm in love! This is PERFECTION in a cup!!

I can't believe I didn't know about this place until now. Such a great found. They have a warehouse in the back for coffee distribution. The ambiance inside is very cute. The lattes were delicious and the cherry on top is that they're free. Given that they're a wholesaler and roast their coffee onsite. They give out coffee to everyone that stop by. No other coffee place does this even the really big ones. Highly recommend!!!

I was excited to go to Katz Coffee for the first time today based on all the great reviews. I waited in line since there was a couple in front of me who had ordered coffee and drinks. When it was finally my turn, I had told the employee it was my first time there. I had wanted to order a bag of coffee and a couple of drinks. He had asked me which ones I wanted but I couldn't remember the names since I had been waiting a while, and walked over to the sign to look at the menu again. An older white man was behind me and had laughed when I made that comment. When I walked back over to the register, the employee was helping that other man with his order, so I guess that meant I had lost my place in line. I sat down on the chair and waited again, but at this point I was so frustrated with the entire experience, I just got up and left. The man was there to pick up some coffee but he clearly had other items he wanted to add to his order. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend going to anyone.

Cute "coffee shop". It's a distributor but you get 2 free drinks for every time you visit. Most of the time it's quiet and rarely crowded. I got the queen bay and it was delicious. Great place to come and hangout or have a study session early in the day. :)

If you're a coffee drinker, this is a mandatory stop when driving through Houston. Their beans are delicious. (I recently got the seasonal festivus blend.) They'll also make you a complimentary latte. There's plenty of seating inside and a cozy atmosphere. Staff is friendly.

Omg this place is so cute and plenty of parking the seating is made from coffee bags! They have a shelf of packaged coffee beans for sale. I found some yummy stuff online like Jingle Bells and S'mores!!! I'm giving a lot of friends and family the flavored coffees as gifts this season. Of course it's one for me, one for you, one for me... The website wasn't taking payment today so an assistant helped me out! They do pickup so I paid and quickly carried my heavy box of goodies to my car. Love, love, love their coffee! I have been getting my fix from Central Market, but now I found the source!!! Highly recommended to get your Java on!!!

My new favorite place for coffee beans - well priced and delicious. All the employees are super friendly, and I enjoy getting a different bag of coffee beans each time I go. My favorite part (aside from getting my bag of coffee beans) of my visits, is getting a complimentary latte at the same time. 2 birds, one stone! I dig it. Aside from learning more about coffee in general, and about Katz, I've also learned a lot from one of the employees' about espresso machines, which was fascinating. I recently got one, so I am always learning new things. When you purchase a bag of coffee beans, they do have the option of grinding them for you. Not necessary for me, but great to have as an option.

I literally had to pull over to type this review after leaving the facility. Will, Amanda and the other two workers were such amazing sources of knowledge. I have purchased a home espresso machine, and will and Amanda have turned my nightmare of a learning curve into a beautiful experience. Will broke down each part of the process to me and gave me more confidence to keep learning and perfecting a good cup of coffee. Overall they have the best coffee I've had to date, great in-house experience and the best customer service I could ask for!

I live in another area that doesn't carry the kinds of Katz coffee that we like. Today is the 2nd time we've ordered coffee from Katz and are extremely happy with the quick turnaround and freshness of the coffee. This time around when we ordered it, the coffee was delivered in a couple of days!! Love this coffee it is so fresh and tastes heavenly; it's the only one I can drink that doesn't upset my very finicky tummy!!! Thanks Katz keep up the good work!!

We keep running into places with great coffee roasted by Katz Coffee. From High Country Market in Round Rock to MOD Coffee House in Galveston. We decided today would be a good day to visit their mothership in Houston on Karbach St. Sure glad we did. We ended up buying 3 pounds of whole beans, Texas Chocolate Mudslide, Austin Bat City Blend( we've opened this one and it's very good), Texas Hill Country Pecan, and a bottle of vanilla bean cold brew coffee. They make a variety of lattes, hot or cold, and iced coffees, some wit' nitro n some without.....for free. Everybody loved their drinks, my wife had the crusty pelican,nitro,coconut,vanilla, and half n half, I had a hot bananas foster latte....good stuff, our coffee/book buddy got a cold nitro coffee brew. The young man that waited on us was very friendly knows his beans. We left with a couple empty coffee bags, those are also free for the asking. You need to check this place out, you'll thank me later.

Ahhh, Katz coffee, a local Houston coffee distributor. I love their coffee, especially if you come here and get it fresh. This place has the best Latin American coffee I've ever had! They've recently made the inside more coffee shop like, which I think is smart. Additionally, since they are a distributor, you can get a cup of coffee, items with milk included, for free. You can't go wrong here! Love it!

If you never read a review please read this one! First off AMAZING!! Is what comes to mind. So I found this place on the lovely Yelp. I arrive and think dang it's a roasting place not coffee, but praise God that I didn't leave I see the entrance and walk in. "Mind you, I NEED coffee. It's one of the days." So in line I get and I hear the barista says something and think no way I heard him say that. Wait for it. I approach the counter and I'm told the coffee is free. Yes FREE you aren't reading this incorrectly I said it and so did they. Not only did he say this he then says tell all your friends. I said I'm dreaming. Nope not a dream, reality. They are a roasting company and this is the headquarters and so they have a small retail shop and they offer free coffee to guests and they encourage you to stop by. I forcefully had to leave a tip because they didn't want it. Jokes I said I'm not taking it back it's staying on the counter. So yes go get a free cup or 2 or 20 they don't care and try out the many concoctions they come up with.

This place was the most pleasant surprise! I wanted some coffee on my way back to work so I looked to find the closest spot and Katz pulled up. I had never seen a Katz coffee shop before so I decided to try it out. I got a little worried that my maps had steered me wrong seeing as this is a very industrial area and it didn't seem like there would be a coffee shop around. Well there was and it has the coolest vibe going. Turns out this is their headquarters. One side looks like their warehouse and the other side is the coffee shop. I ordered two coffees and when I went to pay the gentleman who made my drinks said they don't charge for the coffee they just ask you but some of their merch or coffee. I happily obliged! I only wish I had bought more things because it's so cool that they do that! I will definitely be back!

Katz Coffee has me spoiled. I absolutely LOVE their velvet espresso. It's so rich and smooth. Unfortunately they have ruined Starbucks for me. I use to appreciate being able to just get a quick latte to go when I'm on the road but when I'm forced to resort to Starbucks, it just tastes burnt. This location is not exactly a coffee shop. I do believe that they will sell to the public, so you can stop by, but it's mostly wholesale. The staff is always friendly! Also, they're not open on weekends so if you become spoiled like myself, make sure you plan accordingly. Seriously though, get the velvet espresso! It's amazingly good.

Just tried the benjy's nitro coffee. Real good. Also picked up a bag of freshly roasted coffee. Such a cool place. You can smell the coffee being roasted from the parking lot! Would recommend this place to any one who likes coffee!

Love love love this place. Great coffee that we pick up and then enjoy a coffee on the house from their friendly staff. We order about $30 a month worth of coffee I would guess but that may be low. We need some more now that I think about it. Order online and pick it up!!

Stopped in this morning, was greeted by the usual, outstanding TX manners, given a cup for free and I picked up a bag of ENP dark roast, the Baanmai - thai arabic blend (balanced, velvety, sweet) for $10. I love this place and I will be back. "Have a seat, relax, listen to some music..."

Damn good COLD coffee! Just tried some of this great coffee being served at the Lazy-Hazy-Crazy 5k Run at the Aquarium. I was treated to my choice of hot or iced. I was too hot and sweaty for warm stuff. I'm so glad I picked the iced, because it had wonderfully rich and smooth flavour. I went back for seconds and a little more information as to who retailed their coffee. What I learned was that the iced coffee is cold water brewed overnight with a coarse grind, filtered, then cut with water. Not using hot water keeps the acidic flavour down and improves the smoothness. Maybe I talked to Avi (guy with a beard and reddish brown hair) that Michael T mentioned, but whoever this roaster/barristo was, he set me straight on good coffee. Just have to track some down now. Katz is a wholesaler, but does sell some out of their roasting facility. Thankfully, I heard I can get a hot cup at Le Peep or pickup a pound at a regular retail store. The caffeine is calling...

I love their coffee. I come here at least once a month to buy a pound of espresso. Their new packaging keeps the beans fresh for longer, unlike their previous packaging which is the typical paperbag style with some sort of zip tie. Love their roast, they also sell tea and coffee. I recommend calling in your order because it can take 15 minutes to get your order. It is a wholesale warehouse after all. The staff are super nice!

I LOVE Katz Coffee. However, it's not a coffee shop. My wife and I came here to purchase bags of coffee, not a cup of coffee. First of all, it's incredible that we can get freshly roasted coffee here in Houston. And while right now, there isn't a cafe at this location (though they are building something within the next few months to help out with that) you can go here to buy a bag or two (or a very large order) of coffee. The atmosphere of this place is incredible. Outside the building there are coffee trees growing in bags, when you step inside the very industrial door, you step into an equally designed building. They make use of coffee sacks, technology, and a very warehouse feel. It's very cool. The people who work at the front desk are SO friendly. I often leave with a sample of different coffee and a fill of good conversation. It really is a refreshing experience, and even if you're a small-timer in there to buy a single bag of coffee, they seem genuinely excited to have you there. I've only been in there twice now, but they have always made me glad that I made the drive there, and I will continue to make the trip there because of how valued they make me feel. It speaks volumes about the company. I'll definitely be back, and I don't know how I could have a better experience at a local roaster. A+

This place is a gem of Houston. I discovered their coffee by buying a bag of their "Eureka" Ethiopian coffee at a grocery store and it was fantastic. I checked out their main location and here's how it works: You can buy any of their coffees, either the regular 16oz bags they have in the front or you can ask for something they have stored in the back. All the bags of coffee in the front were freshly roasted. You can call ahead to place your order and then pick it up. They do now have a cafe and limited seating area, it's not just wholesale anymore. I don't know if it's required to buy a bag of coffee to earn the free drink, but I bought a bag of coffee and ordered an espresso, and they said the drink was free. It was also fantastic! My friend bought a bag and got a free latte. Since they're right by the Karbach brewery they also serve some beer, but I don't know prices for that.

Delicious coffee and incredibly nice people sums up Katz Coffee for me. I stumbled in looking for a cup of coffee and instead of turning me away, they invited me to enjoy a delicious cold brew while I read over some paperwork. Avi (the owner) came and introduced himself and couldn't have been nicer!

More than a roaster... I know Katz is popular and a recognizable brand in the Houston area, but I bet you didn't know just how passionate they are about coffee and community. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the building and met a few staff members that, in all honesty, had no problem expressing their beliefs about the business and Mr. Katz. They were so passionate and obviously shared the vision of the owner. Another thing, they are creating a community cafe within the building and want to invite people to stop by for some coffee and conversation. Get to know the Katz family!
