Where Was ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Filmed?

"The Kaufmann Desert House, playing the home of the Victory Project’s leader Frank (Chris Pine), is one of the film’s star locations. The trailer shows a party where Shelley (Gemma Chan) welcomes newcomers to the Project against the backdrop of the San Jacinto mountains. Located at 470 West Vista Chino in the Little Tuscany district just north-west of Palm Springs, the Kaufmann House is a famous creation built in 1946 by Richard Neutra. Its combination of metal, glass, and Utah stone construction was much-copied, while its use of patios and inclusion of a panoramic “Gloriette Room” made it an exemplar of indoor-outdoor living. Previous owners include Barry Manilow and socialite Nelda Linsk, who was captured here in Slim Aarons’ famous photograph Poolside Gossip in 1970. In 2008, Christie’s auctioned the house as a work of art for $25 million."

What a place. So historic! Although you can't see much from the road, putting the home into its surroundings helps provide context for all the great photos that exist of this house. If you are in Palm Spring, definitely take a drive by. It's so close to downtown.

This is the iconic Mid-Century Modern house in Palm Springs. You will see it everywhere in print. When it comes to Mid-Century Modern. This is for all you Mid-Century Modern lovers out there. The Kaufmann name came from Edgar J. Kaufmann he was a Pittsburgh Department Store Tycoon. He wanted a retreat from the harsh winters back east. The Architect is Richard Neutra this is by far one of his famous works to date. He designed the house in 1946. There is no tours of this house. In fact it is private. You will see a no trespassing sign with armed alert. So whatever you do take pictures outside of the property. I cannot put other website links on this site. But do some research on this awesome house.

As the commenter before me has mentioned, this is a VERY iconic house made by architect, Richard Nuetra. I was hell bent to see this place because he was one of the benefactors of my university, Cal Poly. His widow donated the VDL house to us and he himself started a prestigious award ceremony called the "Nuetra Award" to architects the world over. As an architecture major myself, this was like going on a pilgrimage.
