Kavkaz - Review - North Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"The only thing that we don’t like about this North Miami Beach Georgian restaurant is the harsh LED lighting that reminds us of that moment when they turn the house lights on in a club. So if you’re sensitive to lighting, just ask to sit on the cute patio with a trellis and fake vines. The food here is very solid—and we like the pkhali dip platter (order some homemade bread for it), lula kebab, khinkali dumplings, and excellent adjaruli khachapuri that they mix tableside for you. But the one dish that stands out the most here is the kharcho, a beefy tomato and rice soup with a complex mixture of spices and herbs. Together with a cheesy khachapuri, it tastes like a more satisfying (and flavorful) grilled cheese and tomato soup. You should absolutely finish with the Kavkaz dessert: thin slices of sponge holding together globs of whipped cream, caramelized condensed milk, meringue, and walnuts." - Carlos C Olaechea

Google
Kavkaz is definitely a place I will go to for the second time. The food, we tried the Khachapuri which was 10/10 and also the Khinkali which you could think of some sauce to add, everything was fresh and very tasty. The atmosphere is amazing, spacious room, decorations and music. The service is good, the waiter helped with the menu and also gave me tips on what to do. I recommend it!

When ever i fly in from Seattle, its my number one place to stop by and eat atkovkaz restaurant, love the atmosphere, I really enjoyed russian songs brings you back to good old days! Food is good, yes it's a bit expensive, but with all the inflation of a dollar not bad at all. People complain about service and that servers are rude, I had that happen to me when I came their first time ( they wouldn't let me in cause I had birkenstocks sandals) I was like it's kinda 90 outside and I'm not gonna fry in shoes. I told them I'm not local and I dident see any dress code online. So they let me in. After that always top notch service! Highly recommend to try it.

Came here with my girlfriend who is of Georgian and Russian descent. We ordered all of her favorite childhood dishes. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The atmosphere was quirky and fun. The service was attentive and polite. Left full and happy. And normal prices! Looking forward to returning with a bigger group.

Deliciously prepared Georgian dishes! Everything tasted authentic and homemade, just like in Georgia. The flavors were rich and the ingredients fresh. A must-visit place if you love traditional Georgian food. Excellent service and warm atmosphere made the experience even better!🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible experience at Kavkaz! The food was bursting with authentic Georgian flavors — every dish was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and made with love. What truly made our visit unforgettable was the outstanding service. Nana and Nina went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. They were warm, attentive, and made great recommendations. Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend this gem!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kavkaz Restaurant, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home. The decor of the restaurant is charming and reflects the rich culture and traditions of the Caucasus region, creating a cozy yet elegant environment. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavors and prepared to perfection. The khachapuri was heavenly, with its rich, gooey cheese and perfectly baked dough. The shashlik was tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection. I also tried the lamb kebabs, which were seasoned beautifully and melted in my mouth. To top it all off, the desserts were a real treat – the honey cake was divine and paired perfectly with a cup of their fragrant tea. What truly sets Kavkaz apart, however, is the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful experience. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations that did not disappoint. They made us feel like valued guests, which added a personal touch to the entire experience.Kavkaz Restaurant is a hidden gem that I cannot recommend enough. Whether you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an evening with friends or family, this is the perfect spot. I will definitely be coming back and bringing more friends along to share in this amazing experience. Thank you, Kavkaz, for an unforgettable evening

Google
The food is perfect! I love everything what I tried and I tried a lot! Khachapuri is amazing! Khinkali is perfect! Salads are 10 of 10, appetizers are mouthwatering. Lula is very delicious 🤤 Interior is ok and the atmosphere inside is not something you will come for in 2024. I’m ok with service but I can totally understand why you guys have bad feedbacks.

Yelp
We've been here twice and they do not disappoint. They have a limited bar but do serve whiskey and wine. I did not check to see if they had anything else. The service is good. Culture shock: you're not going to be tended to hand and foot so if that's what you're looking for, this isn't the place for you. The food is superb. We had the khachapuri adjaruli (this is the infamous cheese bread with the egg yolk), chicken kabobs, and the khinkali which is their delicious dumplings in a cream and potato sauce. We paid about 100$ with gratuity included for this meal and 2 drinks. The food left us very full! So hearty and indulgent. On Friday night the indoor dining has a live band appropriate to the culture of the restaurant. It was nice to watch for a bit but It was a bit too loud for conversation so we opted to sit outside.

Yelp
Food was ok. The cheese bread was tasty! The server was ignoring our table the whole evening. Portions are so small. And overpriced, which is fine if there is a life music. You are paying for the Entertaintment as well. But music was life only part of the evening. The singer I think his name was Edik, was just putting on music as a DJ, not so much singing himself. With a long brake time in music performance. I would not go back there! We weren't feeling welcomed at Kavkaz restaurant. the day before my friends and me went to Osh Tea room, which was such a welcoming place with a very tasty food but no music in there. Anyways, I am not recommending Kavkaz - this overpriced, unwelcoming, unfriendly place!

Yelp
Armenian and Georgian cuisine are very sparse in the broader South Florida culinary scene. Enter Kavkaz, which is located in a strip mall in North Miami Beach, about 10 minutes south of Aventura Mall. This gem is located in a unique cultural enclave that is different from other areas of Miami-Dade County. My fiancée and I came on a Saturday night and were able to be accommodated without reservations (reservations are highly recommended here-- and you need to call in to make them). This is when most locals seem to gather here to enjoy some great food and live music. We ordered the following dishes: Khinkali Dumplings (Beef Dumplings): these are large dumplings packed with beef and soup. These are not your usual "appetizer" sized dumplings, and are definitely on the thicker serving size. Khachapuri Po-Adjarski: special pie with cheese and egg yolk, mixed table side. Think of this as a Georgian pizza topped with an egg. WOW! Chicken Shkemruli: pan-fried chicken cooked in a creamy/milk-based sauce with plenty of garlic. Kavkaz Cake: thin slices of sponge held together by whipped cream, caramelized condensed milk, meringue, and walnuts. Every dish we had was phenomenal. For anyone dining here for the first time, we'd say the Khinkali Dumplings and any of the Khachapuri choices are must orders! The Kavkaz Cake was also a sweet treat to end our dinner. However, they have plenty of other traditional Georgian and Armenian pastries to order, as well as a variety of proteins on the kebab and an interesting selection of wine by the bottle to order. We were stuffed at the end of this dinner and can't wait to return to Kavkaz! When people say Miami lacks in other "cultural" cuisines, I would encourage them to look outside of the neighborhoods they regularly frequent. Kavkaz and other gems are certainly out there!

Yelp
Best dining experience while vacationing in Florida! We even went twice in the same week! Everything was delicious!!! From khachapuri to the khngali amazing 5 star service and food. We were lucky to have Vladimir the waiter both times and he went above and beyond to make our time enjoyable. Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Very clean restaurant and "like home"cooked delicacies. Looking forward to our next trip to Florida to visit again.

Yelp
My first visit to this Georgian Armenian restaurant and it was fun exploring this cuisine. Everything was tasty and well prepared and our server was attentive and knowledgeable about each dish. When you go, parking is usually available in spaces out front but all bets are off on Friday and Saturday nights when the entertainment is on.
google avatar

Yelp
Kind of a mediocre experience. I ordered borscht and khachapuri. The borscht was plain and meatless, in a very small bowl for a price of a good entrée. The khachapuri was okay but also not anything special; very savory. The service was just bad: the server didn't care to answer my mom's questions and was looking very... uninterested in us. They include tips in the bill by default but won't tell you that.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to trying Kavkaz for awhile, specifically since learning food names in Russian class. I finally had the chance last night since I was in the area for a midweek dinner. Granted I was one of the few patrons there and didn't have the chance. But the "taste" I got yesterday left me wanting to go back on weekends when it seems to be livelier. Kavkaz is at the end of a strip mall right on Biscayne and near Sunny Isles, and has both inside dining as well as terrace dining. The inside space had a nice jazzy background music and a small stages I believe they have live music on weekends. My waiter was attentive and gave me a great description on the dishes. I did leave portions on my plate but did enjoy what I tasted, starting with the natural pressed cranberry juice he suggested. I started with their Kachapuri- cheese bread. At Kavkaz, I'll refer to how a fellow foodie described it. It's a deep dish pie, with a yummy thin crust filled with a gooey warm cheese. Kavkaz' has a nice surprise - a runny egg ("yitzo") that adds flavor to this tasty pie. My other plate was a "Satcivi" Comparable to a cold creamy gazpacho with chicken breast, the plate is well flavored with a walnut base. I didn't have a chance to try dessert, but between that and the live music, I hope to be back.

Yelp
food is great and so is music but service is something to be desired. Waitresses were argumentative and rude

Anna K.

Yelp
We come here when in town because we love the singer on weekend nights. Yana has the most beautiful voice and is a very talented singer/ entertainer. The food was pretty good overall - lamb chops (Devine) fresh salad, Georgian appetizer sampler, dessert were all great. However , the dough on khinkali was too thick to my liking. Also, great selection of Georgian wines here. Fun atmosphere and a great place for birthday celebrations.

Yelp
I hope everyone gets to try this amazing cheesy bread at least one time in their life. Khachapuri was by far the star of this show. Don't let the raw looking egg intimidate. It gets mixed in and cooks in the hot cheese and adds to the creaminess. Scoop the cheese up in the fluffy bread and you've got a winner. Other than this I had a sampler of spreads, since it was pretty much that or borscht as far as non-salad veggie options for. The dips were pretty good. Nothing mind blowing but I enjoyed. Our server was super nice and very kind and generous, esp. with his wine pours. That said, wow Georgian wine is good. Georgia has a long history of wine making and it showed in the quality white wine we had. I will be back for wine and delicious cheesyness again no doubt.

Yelp
Very good food. Ordered chicken in white sauce, Salad, hachapuri( flat brad with cheese) shush-kabob, some very good dish with beans( do not remember name). And bottle of Mukuzani ( wine) Everything was fresh and delicious. Dissent prices , excellent service. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Food wise, if you like healthy food forget about it. if you only eat fish, they have 3 options on the menu but good luck ordering 1 you like. They don't have 1 in stock and don't give you a reason. So then your left eating french fries and you decide your still hungry so you order take out from a nearby restaurant since you don't want to be left out of the party, hungry. You think you solved the issue until the waitress yells at you for bringing outside food and threatens to charge you an additional $50 per person for eating it. If they had variety in stock per their menu this wouldn't be an issue. Noise level... Good luck sitting by the stage. Tiny restaurant and loud music don't go together to well. Horrible experience in general. The old people had fun, the meat eaters enjoyed the food. Anyone else.... Find something healthy, friendlier and more professional. For the waiter, turn a blind eye and let people eat unless you have what's advertised on the menu. Just hush hush.

Yelp
Bed. E perenn bad experience. do not recommend! I wanted to relax and eat delicious food I was refused at a half-fast hall

Yelp
We needed a place for lunch and this came highly recommended. Georgian food has been featured in the food magazines for a while, so I was curious. We sat in a booth - a bit uncomfortable with a very deep seat, but it worked. We decided to share a khachapuri (simply put a type of cheese pie) and a chachushuli (a dish of stewed veal or beef). Both were served pooping hot and delicious. The cheese pie was a thin yeasty dough filled with luscious ooey, gooey cheese. I wanted to know what "herb" were in the stew, it, too, was delicious. The meat was fork tender. Service ... we were the only customers. Our server was just fine, she helped us order and was ok. I'd go back. Only thing, rules are changing and no one working there wore masks ...

Yelp
Great place to try European Georgian food, appetizers were awesome! And dessert also very good. Had a great time, great ambiance and service.

Yelp
Today was not my first time here. I was in Kavkaz a couple of times before. Nice place, somewhat fancy-looking inside; a few tables outside. The service is always nice. The food is tasty. I heard from some that it is the best Georgian food around. They have live music on the weekends. My concerns are the prices and the portions. First of all, the prices you see here on Yelp are not correct. Add $5-$6 to everything. And the portions for the main courses are appetizer size. I have never seen such a tiny khachapuri in my life and I have been to many Georgian restaurants in Georgia, Russia, New York, and Miami of course. Truly, the portions of everything are small, even drinks (not alcohol) are in small glasses. Compote is only 100 grams? Strange So, the food is tasty, and the service is nice. The place is Not on the beach to charge so much for smaller than usual portions. If you don't mind paying, you will enjoy the food, just order more :) It is on a plaza, so there is parking.

Yelp
The best food I ever had in Miami. The employees were very polite. I really love this place.

Yelp
It's an amazing cozy place with incredible food! You could feel good energy there; you had a place to dance and excellent live music (Saturday night). Would recommend this place to everyone!

Yelp
Never knew Miami had Georgian food until I saw Kavkaz featured on Infatuation Miami. They highlighted the khachapuri (cheesy bread), which looked delish, so I knew I had to try it! Came yesterday with my mans and we shared the aforementioned khachapuri (100/10), khinkali (beef soup dumplings) and a chicken kabob. The khinkali was very yummy and definitely unique (there's no spoon, so you grab it from the bottom and slurp the innards). The chicken kabob was satisfying, but the flavor was lacking (thank Beyonce for the tomato-based dipping sauce it came with). I also tried a Georgian pear lemonade, which was pretty tasty, although I'm not sure I'd order it again for $7. The service was attentive, and while the food took a little bit to come out, everything was extremely fresh. It's located in a strip mall off of Biscayne and 151, so plenty of parking. I'll definitely be returning!

Maria P.

Yelp
So much for the famous Georgian hospitality, very disappointing .... In terms of guest service this place felt like McDonalds. I don't expect much but "thank you for coming, have a good night" would be nice to hear when the check was dropped, considering that gratuity is already included. Wasnt even that busy. Delicious food, chicken tabaka didn't feel like an authentic dish, but still tasted really good. Food quality is wonderful, any dish we tasted was definitely worth it. Overall, not sure if we'll be back. Ambiance felt nice, but the service really took us out of the experience.

Yelp
First and foremost: if you go at night, THIS IS A RUSSIAN KARAOKE CLUB! As a big black man with locs, it was definitely culture shock but I could appreciate it. The food was AMAZING. It's a vibe but an acquired taste for sure. Very loud music but there's dancing from all ages, I ain't mad at it. Doubt that I'd come here consistently but that's just me. Russian family nightclub karaoke bar with bomb food may be your vibe
google avatar

Jorge P.

Yelp
I really enjoy dinner there. My friend is originally from ex USSR and recommended this place. Salad was super fresh and hachapuri (I hope I spelled it correctly) was on point. Our waiter was Vladimir and the service was excellent.

Yelp
AMAZING food and not so amazing service. I'm so sad to give it 4 stars - I'd give it 10 stars for food and 2 stars for service. A complimentary bread basket would also be nice. Food: I've been searching for a good khachapuri adjaruli in the Miami area for a few months now and all my previous tries weren't good. The one from Kavkaz is just the best - very authentic. In addition I tried the Kavkaz plate - a mix of 3 kinds of pkhali (spinach, beets and beans) and eggplant rolls. It was also very delicious. My husband tried the chicken kabob with grilled vegetables and a side of mashed potatoes. He said it was the best chicken he had in a while! The grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes were also very tasty. In addition we ordered the bread basket - lavash - it was very hot and delicious. As for drinks, we got Russian beer Baltika 7, Georgian sparkling water and Turkish coffee. Price and ambiance: the prices are reasonable. Our check was only $88 for all the food and drinks. We went for early dinner on Saturday night - when we were leaving around 8pm, the live music started. Service: The service was bad. Noone greeted us initially, the server wasn't friendly at all. She was very slow, we finished food and waited for her for about 20 mins. She forgot that we ordered bread and had to come back and check on it. I'll definitely come back to try more dishes!

Louie M.

Yelp
The food , atmosphere and the service (Nana, Elvira), we're amazing. The potions are generous and high quality ingredients used in each dish. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting authentic Georgian food
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly staff. Beautiful decor. Would come back. Tried the chicken and lamb kabobs, both very good. Fresh salad, simple but tasty. Kompot, yum!

Michael D.

Yelp
Great authentic mediterranian food. All fresh, great flavor! Amazing! Checken salad, lamd Lula Kebab, Khinkali- meat ravioli- all freshly made. Traditional Beef soup- perfect!. It is a Gem on Biscayne, a must for a Foodie. Service was perfect, waitress Lena went out of the to make sure that we feel like a friends home! Strongly recommend! Live music, nice dance floor!
google avatar

Mad K.

Yelp
Food was excellent Georgian. And I know Georgian well. Highest recommendation for the classics, rolled eggplant in walnut, khinkali (think little burgers in a purse of soup- add pepper to the flat side, take small bite, slurp soup as you eat the meatball.. don't eat the nipple... khachupuri, (think amazing ridiculously good pizza) their signature chopped salad, all were outstanding. The kebabs, known as shashlik, were great. Lamb chops, chicken and pork. So if you need your fix, don't hesitate, at all. Lobio great too! Satsivi a little bland, chicken in walnut sauce. Bring you own vodka, try Zyr, now made in US. The music was loud, so beware, and Russian. Some people danced. Booths are meant to relax, so might prefer a table w chairs if wanting more sturdy, or less of an ab workout during dinner. Service was lovely. Definitely be back for our fix, 40 mins from where we live. Much closer than flying to Moscow or Brighton Beach. And the fries!! World class.
google avatar

Jorge B.

Yelp
The dumplings were awesome. The service was good. But what we went for the Khachapuri was excellent. OMG, it is good
google avatar

Jaime L.

Yelp
You come here for the austere Caucasian ambiance that suddenly lifts you away from the tropical reality outdoors. Excellent grilled meets, hot and cold appetizers, and katchapuri, a cheese lover's dream that is shaped like a Turkish pide, but has as much cheese as a whole pot of Swiss fondue. Service, well service is a a caricature of nostalgic Soviet times. Be prepared for welcoming, but somewhat inattentive service. Be proactive and don't let this ruin your experience. Drag the waiter to your table, be loud calling them across the dining room, it's all part of the experience. Oh, and try Georgian wine, it's delicious!
google avatar

Marina K.

Yelp
Very average food, they didn't have a few things on the menu, overpriced for what it is. The service was actually good even though we were overcharged. Overall a lousy 2 stars. Decor was nice but we were there for the food and were let down.. Skip this place !

Brian B.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere and staff. The flavors were delicious and each dish was unique.

Yelp
Incredible food and incredible service. Our waiter took such excellent care of of us. Sadly I don't remember his name. He was a tall Georgian-American man with brown hair, but either way, his recommendations and service were excellent. From the khachapuri (I believe it was called) an incredibly delicious pie/breading with cheese inside to the unbelievable dessert (forgot the name but pictured below) eveything was amazing. He even gifted us a bottle of the delicious peach flavored lemonade drink called Zedazeni that we had with our meal. It was Saturday night and there was live music inside the restaurant. I recognized a Ukrainian song by Kazka. People were dancing and appeared to be having a good time but we sat outside as we were in the mood for a more quiet experience. Either way it had something for everyone with its atmosphere, combined with incredible food and service. I can't wait to go again!

Christina M.

Yelp
Amazing Armenian food, I love the Georgian Pelmini, such good flavor in the meat and the dough is perfection. Love the ajarski khachapuri. Great live music also along with great atmosphere. My fourth time here as an Armenian I love this place!

Maria T.

Yelp
We love this restaurant! we come here weekly and love the authentic cuisine. it really is delicious and always the best service. I highly recommend this restaurant for a casual dinner or party.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Have never tried Georgian food, but I'm glad I did. Went with a friend on a whim and loved it. Definitely try the khachapuri. There's more cheese in there than you'd think!

Yelp
This place is amazing! It's super delicious! Friendly staff and super organized. Keep it up

Yelp
We were craving khachapuri po ajarski and khinkali for so so long and Kavkaz 1000000% satisfied ! Amazing food . We even came back for lunch the next day after dinner . Will definitely come back when around Miami area.

Yelp
I ordered takeout/ delivery but no drivers were available on Uber eats. So instead I called the restaurant and ordered the food for pickup then called regular Uber. The staff were very helpful and accommodated my needs. Thank you so much! We tried ~chicken soup( yummy), Hachapuri( without the egg) Olivie Hinkali Kompot And the Cake Everything was delicious! The check was about $60 for 3 people. Loved it and next time will come in person ;)
google avatar

Tamara M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food. Great khinkali and khachapuri. Very authentic. Thank you delicious food.
google avatar

Yelp
Avoid this place at lunch time, last friday we've tried to have lunch for the 3rd time in the last few months ( google map shows hours of operation from 2pm) For the 3rd time we were turned around due to their evening parties and preparation for it. You guys have to change hours in your business listing, this is not normal to run restaurant business.
google avatar

Eugine O.

Yelp
if you want to plunge into the atmosphere of Russian kitsch and Caucasian cuisine this is the place for you. I never thought that I could eat so much just because the food was so prepared with love. Our waiter Vladimir was helpful and polite in the food choices. Thanks again and we will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Yana K.

Yelp
We did delivery from this restaurant. We got kachapuri , chicken noodle soup , lamb kabob and park kabob. The meat was mediocre. The soup and kachapuri were phenomenal. I would order just kachapuri on its own. I just thought that it was strange that in a restaurant like this meat kabob would be just okay and not amazing. Overall decent, I would try different items( they were out of some of the items I wanted to try. Quit a few items were out ). I would defiantly recommend this restaurant based on the kachapuri alone!

Leah Z.

Yelp
Authentic food great service excellent Food is nice clean . dinner Sunday is life musiclike music . not very big but warm home environment great birthday celebrations.

Marina P.

Yelp
First of all on the google page it says Dine in, take out and delivery. I called hostess said we don't do delivery. I came to the restaurant in the rainy weather to oder some food to go. The host was super rude. She said they allow food only for dine in. ( first of all what a weird rule!) I asked what is the difference if I am willing to pay and I am already here! She stopped talking to me without any explanation and she was just staring at the wall! This is ridiculous! Never in my life I experienced such a service in the restaurants! Stay away from this place!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
The Kachapuri is really good, the cheese is cooked to perfection and the bread just melts in your mouth. Definitely worth the try, can be a little bit on the saltier side but if you add the egg it kind of neutralizes it, also do recommend getting the dumplings they are quite plump and fulfilling.
google avatar

Ekaterina T.

Yelp
What a wonderful place! I always have the best experience here. I brought my American friends to Kavkaz last Sunday, and everyone had such a great time. The food was excellent, and everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The service was fantastic! Vladimir made us feel right at home, and provided us with such great hospitality. The kachapuri, khinkali and shish kebab are a must. Also, all the bread is baked fresh in house. Thank you very much! I will always come back and recommend it to everyone.

Yelp
The best food in Miami, awesome atmosphere and friendly staff. There are many options in Miami, but we find ourselves there every single time we visit the city.
