East Nashville’s Kawai Poke Co. Opens Today With Smoothie Bowls and Poke Aplenty - Eater Nashville

"With the delayed Nashville landfall of the poke craze comes a long-awaited opening on the east side. Owned by Chicago transplant Yev Mikhailov, Kawai Poké Co. brings poke dishes, breakfast bowls, smoothies, and other Hawaiian favorites to the new spot, which opens today. Poke bowl options will include tuna, salmon, shrimp, tofu, and vegetables. Customers will then select white or brown rice, or a salad instead, then choose from an assortment of add-ons and sauces. Baked goods will also be a focus with a variety of cookies, muffins, individual pies, and pineapple upside-down cake at the ready. Daily bakery features and real fruit shaved ice offerings will be posted on chalkboards inside the 30-seat restaurant. A small selection of beer and wine will be available, with all brews by the bottle or can. Mikhailov spent most of his life in the restaurant business, and last owned an Eastern European sausage and salami company in the Windy City. Great Poki place! It is a little on the pricey side for the large bowl, however you get a lot of food and it’s all fresh and tasty! My wife got the samurai style and I built my own bowl. Both were delicious! I love getting fresh bean sprouts in my Poki bowl and the sauces at Kawai are so good! The sweet chili sauce is my fave! It’s super clean, I love the decor, and the staff was super friendly and helpful guiding us through ALL the options. I would definitely eat here again next time I’m in the neighborhood and craving something fresh!

This place was amazing. The poke was delicious. I first ate poke in Washington and I’ve tried so many different places since then and never quite found a place that comes close to FOB’s poke. But this place did! The meat was fresh and the Tangy Ponzu sauce was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was very clean.

The best Poké around Nashville, if you like big portions of that delicious raw salmon or tuna, this is the place, poke is never cheap, but! I think this place is worth it. The portions are really well served and the flavor is really good. If you like Poké you should come here at least once. Really worth the trip to East nashville.

Finally checked out this place. The salmon was very good. However, overall the bowl did not have a lot of flavor. I had to drench it in extra sauce. It was good but probably will not be back anytime soon. Super cute place though!

Honestly, it’s a really clean place. Very friendly staff, too. I’ve had Poke around Nashville that gives more protein. However, this place did have incredibly clean bathrooms. 6/10 recommend to eat. 10/10 recommend to take a Duce.
