Originally posted a 1- star review due to a very frustrating experience, but I’m happy to update this after Kay ultimately made things right.
In August 2025, I brought my 14k gold wedding band (purchased elsewhere, retailed $770, paid$575) to Kay for a simple unsoldering. Unfortunately, the ring was destroyed during the repair. The staff admitted fault and initially promised a free 14k replacement with no conditions and waived the repair charge.
However, over the following months there were delays, changing stories, a low initial offer (10k ring valuing mine at only $475), and new conditions added in December (requiring me to trade in the destroyed original and pay ~$199 for the Lifetime Protection Plan—contrary to earlier assurances).
I was hesitant and confused, when one staff member, Christie, suggested I take it up with corporate when I questioned the sudden changes.
After escalating (including reaching out on social media and filing complaints), corporate stepped in quickly. Special thanks to Taylor from customer service, who reviewed my case thoroughly and worked with leadership to approve a generous one-time courtesy resolution just before the new year:
- A full 14k replacement ring (current retail value $699) at no cost
- I was allowed to keep my original destroyed ring
- A $100 gift card applied toward the Lifetime Protection Plan on the new ring
I picked it up today (Dec 31), added the protection plan for a very small out-of-pocket amount, and left happy with a beautiful new band that feels true to the original.
While the process was stressful and took far longer than expected, I truly appreciate that Kay leadership listened and went above and beyond to resolve it fairly in the end. Thank you especially to Tammie for her kindness and efficiency, she truly advocated for me behind the scenes and helped secure this fair resolution right at end of the year..and to Christie, for encouraging me to escalate when the in-store situation became confusing—that ultimately led to the right outcome.
I’ve been a loyal Kay customer for years, and this generous resolution, especially coming through right at the end of the year, has completely restored my faith in Kay and reminded me why I’ve continued choosing you.
