KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar

I have been to other KazuNori locations, but this was my first time at the MDR one and being that I live walking distance from this location I was really excited to try this new spot. The location is hard to beat, it’s right by the water and the anchorage where all the boats are docked. The shopping center is in between the water and Admiralty Way which is the main street in MDR. The first two hours are free parking in the shopping center it is located in, but this location does get quite busy and given that they don’t take reservations the line can get quite long if you go after 6PM. Inside is basically one giant wraparound bar. You sit at the counter and order one of the hand roll meals or you can do à la carte Nigiri. I will say that I am a huge fan of Sugarfish and would prefer that over KazuNori any day and given that Sugarfish is literally right across the street, I can’t really see why I would ever choose KazuNori over Sugarfish, which is their the flagship restaurant, but it’s still nice to have this option. I just wish KauNori would have more fish options like sweet shrimp and others that Sugarfish offers. It’s part of the same ownership though so some of the flavors will be very similar. I still think the Sugarfish restaurant group has the best albacore I’ve ever had. For my dinner I decided to order the 6 Hand Roll meal and also added an Albacore Roll. I would say that the yellowtail and the crab were by far my favorites and the lobster was a close third. The albacore was also fantastic but still I feel that yellowtail is their best fish and it was also my favorite again this evening. Pricing is very fair and service is very quick so it’s a really great quick and casual option. Only if the line to enter is not long.

This location is great. You get a view next to the water and the service and food were phenom. Get there early. We were there at 12 on a Sunday and the line wasn't too bad. We waited 20 minutes for 2 people. It spacious enough to roll in a stroller but they don't have high chairs. So don't expect one. I fed my son in his stroller a little rice and fish and he was fine. He, thankfully, did not scream and go crazy to the rest of the restaurant. We had a 5 set and added another handroll. They were all good. Toro, yellowtail, crab, scallop, lobster, shrimp and salmon. The salmon sashimi was really good too. Everything tasted very solid. The price wasn't bad. They don't take tip so it's just included 16% on you receipt. I'd return!

Google
Ding experience was enjoyable. While the wait time was longer than I expected, I appreciated being able to watch the staff prepare the hand rolls right in front of me, which added to the overall freshness and appeal of the food. The prices seemed reasonable for the quality offered, and I found their sake to be quite enjoyable as well.

Google
One star not because this restaurant deserves it but because reviews are inflated. For about $33 for 6 rolls course customers should receive bigger portions with more items if possible. I appreciate the hand roll bar but shop decor and atmosphere is too basic to be considered ‘exotic’ and packed(just like other reviews mention) for management to be entitled to this price point. Located at an affluent area with constant stream of customers so there’s not much excuse about not being more generous with spending on customer experience or food qualities. I worked in food service for a while and I can also just tell crew members are not having a great time and team synergy is off - most likely a rigid or unfair management and not the crews fault.

Google
I stumbled upon this place while walking to trader Joe's from my hotel nearby and am so glad I did. The rolls were absolutely amazing. Loved the atmosphere, very dark and atmospheric, simple and cosy. The staff were lovely and welcoming (I was a lone diner, often intimidating), I enjoyed watching the chef make the rolls, and every bite was delicious. Highly recommend

Google
Ordered the yellowtail and bay scallops. Super friendly. No wait time. The have high quality rice and fish and mori sheets. Loved the yellowtail. I didn’t like the bay scallops bc it came in a mayonnaise style sauce. I wish it would have been mentioned on the Menu. I only took 2 small bites and then ordered another yellowtail instead. He asked me if I didn’t like it and I addressed why. Just not my kind of taste after all. When they brought the bill they actually took off the roll. I was extremely surprised. I didn’t expect that and also didn’t ask for it, they just did. I truly appreciated it. No tipping establishment but they automatically charge 16% gratitude. The validate parking and asked for the ticket so we wouldn’t forget. Absolutely incredible. Only downside: the chairs tight and there was a line forming already when we left at 6pm. The music was also too loud for my liking if I wanna nip pick I wouldn’t recommend it during dinner time and not for groups But I’ll def be back and next time make sure to ask which one is coming in a creamy sauce to avoid those!

Google
Meh. Service is aloof and rigid. (At least what I could understand from the waiter) I thought it was just us but others couldn't understand a word the waiter was saying either.(Or any other staff for that matter) Other guests were visibly uncorfortable with the service too. Service is way off and the sushi is made by an unwelcoming latina lady who gossips in spanish with her co- workers right in front of the guests. Not a good look at all. All this going on while the Manager sat down and was catered to with sushi and his special lemon juice, while paying customers waited. Average fish but def not worth either the false tone set or the pricepoint. When the check arrived, he said we were "all set". I asked were do I sign and put a tip to which I was told: Theres no tipping". (More falseties) They automatically include their tip in the bill labeled as "house charge" or something sneaky like that. Also noticed we were overcharged but it was after we got home. ...Oh well, jot it down to experience and forget this very poorly staffed overly pretentious wannabe. There are WAY better, more welcoming and less stuffy places that are just as "reasonable" such as Sugarfish right down the street. BIG NO.

Google
Such a great spot for hand rolls. Eat at the bar only and no reservations. It's a quick spot though so if you have to wait it won't be too long. Everything is fresh and reasonably priced. It's all bar seating so great for on your own or with a small group.

Yelp
My first time checking this place out we waited around 45 minutes. We came in earlier a second time on a weekday and we got in within 5 minutes--still packaged inside. It's all so worth it. The quality of the fish and the rice just melts in your mouth effortlessly. I've never cared for a hand roll that much until I ate here. After I eat here I'm not left feeling craving nigiri / feeling like I missed out on other Japanese cuisine because the hand roll here are no joke. Also, not only is the food amazing but the atmosphere of the place is lovely. The seats are very close to each other and it's casual with the bar setting yet dark, giving it a little upscale feel. It's right on the water too! Love this place!

Yelp
You know the food will be consistently good and well-balanced when the chef weighs each portion of fish on a scale before carefully wrapping it in nori. The quality and execution really show. The price point is solid -- I ordered six hand rolls for $30 (not including the additional Nozawa-style fee), which felt fair for the freshness and care put into the food. My main downside is the seating. The bar stools are extremely small and slippery, to the point where I genuinely felt like I might fall off. It's a poor design choice and almost deterred me from returning. Because the bar seating is the only option, I wouldn't recommend this spot for a date or a longer dining experience. That said, being located directly in Marina del Rey is definitely a perk. I'll likely return for the food, but will probably choose other restaurants when looking for a more intentional and comfortable customer experience.

Yelp
40 minute wait in line followed by $38.00 for parking. It's cheaper, faster and better to get real sushi

Yelp
Love love love! I stumbled upon this place when checking out Marina Del Ray and I'm so glad I did. I bellied up to the bar and got started with one of the preset menu offerings. I love how easy they make the ordering and how simple the hand rolls are. You really get to taste and enjoy the fish. Service was friendly and fast. I felt very welcome here during my first time, but it also seemed like many people here were regulars which is great. I would be too if I lived in the area. Prices seemed very reasonable, and it looks like they do a great takeout business too.

Yelp
We've been meaning to try this place and we decided to go after the World Series! There was still a line at 10:15pm at night. The menus are fixed. They are known for handrolls. You sit at a bar. The food was good, but after a while started to all taste the same. The area is nice to walk around, and the parking was free for the time. Would return.

Yelp
Kazunori never lets me down whenever I go. This is a great location looking into the bay. They do have parking but it does get full pretty easily so plan accordingly. There is a 2 hour validation, so if you have a quick lunch, you can definitely walk around in this area. We always order the 6 roll, no need to do the special 6 roll. All of the roll were perfect and the rice was the star of the show. Also, the service was top tier. There is plenty of bar seating and you het plenty of natural lighting inside. I think that's why this is my fav kazunori location. Lastly, there's plenty of bathroom stalls! We'll probably be back if we need to drop someone off at lax. Worth the stop!

Yelp
I LOVE KazuNori and the Marina del Rey location has become one of my go to sushi spots, especially a go to spot for one of my friends and me. I've been here a handful of times now and my most recent visit was in mid-to-late July. Even so, every visit reminds me why I keep coming back! The restaurant itself is small and has only bar seating, which means there's almost always a line. Because of that, I've learned to come early (like around 4pm) to snag a seat without the wait (I hate lines). If you plan accordingly, the experience is smooth and totally worth it. I nearly always order the 6-hand roll set complete with the lobster hand roll, all of which are absolutely divine. The fresh fish, perfectly seasoned warm rice, and crisp nori are perfect - simple yet extraordinary every time. Honestly, I could eat these rolls daily and never get tired of them. Another thing I love? I never even feel the need to order a drink because the water here is so good! I actually drink it, which says a lot! It's also a no-tipping establishment, which I appreciate the clarity. Instead, they add a 16% service fee automatically, so you don't have to think twice about it. I highly recommend KazuNori. Just plan ahead, come early, and get ready for some of the best hand rolls in LA!!!

Yelp
The birthplace of the handroll in the US does not disappoint! The quality of these handrolls were top notch and super fresh. They are owned by sugar fish team so expect some similarities, but their service and food is just as great! The prices are reasonable, the service is attentive and the food is just excellent! 6 handrolls for $28 is a steal Expect to wait in line for some time if you come during rush hours, but we came on a Friday around 3pm and only had to wait for 15mins for a party of 2. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday around 12:30pm no wait to be seated. Parking in lot but gets validated in restaurant once done. All one bar table so will be next to strangers. Only take physical card no digital wallet fyi. Ordered the 5 piece hand roll. All were good the lobster and crab kinda tasted the same. But the scallop one was sooo good! The rice was warm and good texture. I thought I wasn't gonna get full but I did! All in all good for a one time try.
google avatar

Yelp
This was the first time going to the KazuNori by the marina and it did not disappoint! The inside is very cute and quaint like the other locations but it really set the vibe at night especially if you are going there for a dinner date. The service is also extremely fast and you never feel like you are waiting long for your food! Anthony also helped us bar side and he was very knowledgeable with any questions we had as well being very nice and attentive. The handrolls never disappoint at any location, but I will say I like the 6 hand roll set over the Nozie one. But the star of the show from the Nozie was the eel! So flavorful and just a joy to eat. Definitely coming back to this location soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Typical Kazu Nori with a nice waterfront location. Went on a Thursday evening - a long line, but at least you're next to the marina and have some nice scenery. Ordered the 4 roll combo and added an extra crab roll. Was good times as usual - similar to its Sugarfish relative. Would come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
The freshest hand rolls EVER! And you can tell because they make them right in front of you. I love the vibe of this place because it's such good, high quality food, but a more casual environment with literally the best service. Oh and this location looks out at the marina so that's not too bad either. My go-to is the set menus, specifically the six roll one that comes with Toro, Yellowtail, Salmon, Bay Scallop, Crab, and Lobster. Every single one is a hit but my top three are Yellowtail, Salmon, and Lobster. Those are the non-negotiables! The fish is fresh and cold, the rice is warm, and the seaweed is still perfectly crisp. It's a perfect bite every time. Pro tip: if you order takeout or delivery, they'll make everything in cut rolls, which are equally as delicious but better for eating at home.
google avatar

Doreen T.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting this location, and it was just as good as the KazuNori in DTLA that we've enjoyed before. A heads-up: if you're ordering takeout, they only offer cut rolls. We were seated right away since we arrived when it opened, we opted to dine in since we were just looking for a quick bite. I've always appreciated the warm rice and crisp seaweed in their hand rolls. I ordered three: salmon, scallop, and blue crab. The blue crab has the most mayo, so it's best to eat that one right away before the seaweed softens. One minor quirk across KazuNori and Sugarfish locations is how strictly they manage sauces. They'll provide soy sauce, but won't offer ponzu, even though it's typically paired with tuna or salmon sashimi. In the past, we've ordered sashimi just to get the ponzu, and made sure not to let them clear the sauce dish. Gotta get creative sometimes!

Yelp
Food: The best hand-roll I've ever had Service: Waited about 30 min on sat dinner time (around 5pm) Ambiance: Bar seat only. The bathroom is shared with UOVO. Free 2 hr parking w/ validation
google avatar

Danica L.

Yelp
I've been to Kazu before but not in a few years, and it was really good. I came here on a Friday night and waited around 30-40 mins. I ordered the 5 handroll set, except substituted the crab for salmon. Every ham roll was delicious, but my favorites were the toro and salmon. The seaweed did get soggy pretty fast from the last time I came but it was still good.
google avatar

Andre B.

Yelp
Very good if you have ever been to Sugarfish and thought "I just want the Hand rolls this is the spot. Truly good hand rolls at a great price. They also are incredibly filling. I managed to handle 6 hand rolls. I have previously had this to go and I have to say it is far better to eat it at the bar. That being said while this is good bang for your buck don't expect perfection. There was some lobster shells in my hand roll the manager quickly handled it and gave me a replacement hand roll. All in all a great experience and worth the price.
google avatar

Ming S.

Yelp
A must stop staple during LA trips. The hand rolls are affordable, fresh, and delicious! Be prepare to wait, there's typically a line out the door (but don't worry, it goes fast). Tip: When in a rush to make a flight at LAX (about 20mins drive time), you can order to go. I usually grab 16 pieces and another roll of 8 pieces to satisfy the sushi craving. After ordering, the order is usually ready in 15 minutes.
google avatar

Michael U.

Yelp
KazuNori is my go-to for fresh hand rolls. The fish is high quality, the nori is crisp, and the rolls are served right as they're made. Simple, fast, and always delicious. Located in a really nice location as well. It can get very busy but will definitely come back.
google avatar

Tandis H.

Yelp
I love this place, the prices are fair and they give you a small taste of luxury dining but with a quick service system. The options are good, I got to try some different stuff than I'm used to. I have been to one of these concepts before, I understand this one says it is the original. It's not my top choice in terms of a hand roll bar, but I enjoy hand roll bars so much I have little complaints. The line was my only complaint, it would be nice if we could be offered water or something to make the line more tolerable. We had just come back from the Getty and were so thirsty! The hour wait was tough.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
This is the perfect place for a quick lunch. Indoor seating is fairly limited, it seats approx 20 people around the counter. Service is good and friendly. Everything is freshly made on the spot
google avatar

Mayu T.

Yelp
This is a very popular place for intimate gatherings due to its scenic location and counter-style dining experience, and the prices are reasonable - so be ready to wait since they don't take reservations. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday and waited about 1 hour to be seated, but service is fairly quick, paced out over about 30 minutes as your hand rolls are served one by one. The Nozie and 6-piece set menu both come with 6 hand rolls and are only $1 apart, but the Nozie comes with a couple more premium fillings. I opted for the 6-piece set because I wanted to substitute the lobster for the sea bream out of personal preference. This was my first time having hand rolls like this, other than the typical temaki finisher at the end of an omakase. With that image in mind, the basics lived up to my standard: the sushi rice was delicately seasoned and not too sweet, and the seaweed was fragrant and crisp. I think the best part about KazuNori's rolls are that the cylindrical shape helps even out the ratio so that each bite has a proportional amount of filling and rice compared to the cone-shaped temaki counterpart. That being said, the cons outweighed the pros for me. While I enjoyed the seaweed, it overpowered all of the fillings except for the crab. I understand the finely chopped texture helps make it easier to eat, but I missed the satisfaction of varying textures of fish, and I felt like the lack of distinctive textures also contributed to the blandness of the rolls. The visual impact was also diminished by this factor in my opinion. Lastly, sushi rice should generally not be served warm, but chances are that you'll be hungry after waiting so long that you won't care about this minor detail. Overall, my impression of this restaurant is 3.5 - worth a try for the novelty and reasonable bang for buck - but rounding down to 3 due to slight overhype.

Yelp
One of my favorite hand roll spots. I've been to Kazunori a few times now and it always hits the spot. I love this location because it's right by the water and has a really nice vibe. I usually start with the toro sashimi, which comes with cucumber. It makes it feel super fresh, which I love. My go-to hand rolls are the toro, yellowtail, albacore, and lobster. Honestly, every single one is 10 out of 10. The rice is warm, the seaweed is always crisp, and everything is made right in front of you so it's super fresh. The staff here are always kind and welcoming. There's a woman with light brown or blonde hair who's especially sweet and always seems to recognize returning guests, which makes the experience feel really personal. The food comes out quickly and there's no tipping, which makes checkout easy. They also offer parking validation which is a big plus. The only thing to keep in mind is the wait. I came on a Sunday right before 5 p.m. and only waited around 10 minutes, but during busier times it can be closer to 30 to 45 minutes. Still totally worth it. If you're craving quality hand rolls and a consistently good experience, I definitely recommend Kazunori Now they just need a location in Orange County.
google avatar

Walid F.

Yelp
4/5 - 5 hand rolls. All of the hand rolls were amazing. Good balance of flavor and quality. 2/5 - The toro sashimi was very fatty, but the taste wasn't strong. I'd pass on this. The service was great, and the workers are happy to help answer questions. The ambiance was pretty nice, with dimmed light and bar seating next to strangers. The wait was around 45 minutes on a Tuesday.
google avatar

Tracey N.

Yelp
The best sushi hand rolls in LA! The menu is super simple, I went for the 4 hand roll set menu, but wish I went for the 6 hand roll set menu as all of the rolls were so delicious and fresh. I loved the salmon sashimi too. Overall, it is reasonably priced with efficient and friendly service. The bar seating gives a relaxed and casual dining experience. There is always a queue so I recommend getting there early! I can't wait to go back already.
google avatar

Bethanie C.

Yelp
I can't have a visit to LA without going to Kazunori. I can always trust it to be consistently delicious. Fresh handed to you hand rolls with warm sushi rice and yumm fish. Always expect a wait at this location, I went at 4pm and there was still a line.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Been here at least 2 dozen times, and had my first hand roll bar experience here. Every time I leave, thinking about the next experience already. Surrrre there may be a long line on any given day and at any given time, but once you get the craving, it's impossible to deny. Plus once you get seated, food comes quickly! I'll usually go for 4 or 5 hand rolls, and sometimes a Sapporo - will add sake if feeling extra feisty. The pre defined sets or custom are equally great options, depending what you're feeling. The sashimi is good if you're in the mood for it, but usually stick to the hand rolls. Yellowtail and bay scallop are my top favorites. The yellowtail freshness plus the green onion accent is *chef's kiss*. The bay scallops creaminess also sets it apart from the others. Lobster, crab salmon, eel, albacore are fine additions as well. Compared to other hand roll places, the seaweed is crisper and the rice is warmer, which makes all the difference. It being a no tipping establishment also helps make the prices easier to understand. Low overhead operating costs + deliciously simple product = happy diners.

Yelp
Great experience. We ordered ahead and picked up a sushi bento box before a little sunset boat charter. The fish was sliced beautifully and I really enjoyed the packaging. Next time we'll try and eat there as the location overlooked the Marina and there were all sorts of shops and places to walk too.
google avatar

Yelp
We finally got to try KazuNori. The lines are long, but 2:30 seems like a lull in the action. The location by the water, validated parking and cool, casual ambiance get high marks. The chefs and servers are all very kind and helpful. The prices are super reasonable and service is included, so no tipping is necessary. I am clearly in the minority here, but I did not like the hand rolls. The seaweed was nice and crisp. The size was larger than at a similar restaurant in Austin. However, the food is extremely salty even before soy sauce. The rice overpowering and is not the best in seasoning or texture. The fish is all of the chopped and mashed in mayonnaise variety such that everything tasted rather similar. Again, others said it was worth the wait and enjoyed their meals. It's just not to my liking.
google avatar

Dan L.

Yelp
Revisiting this place after a long break. The back still hurts from the bar chairs they have lol. But the finally added scale and now they measure their portions both rice and protein. Now finally they can keep the consistency. I always go with the set of 6. This time everything was on point - rice to protein ratio, service and vibes. Good job I will come back again
google avatar

Liz V.

Yelp
Kazunori is always a 10/10 in my books. I do the 5 hand roll set and swap out the crab for salmon. My favorites are the scallop and the lobster, but they're all so good. Highly recommend getting the albacore sashimi if it's not sold out- the sauce is amazing. The line looks long but moves quickly, and they're very efficient at getting people sat. They always give me extra ginger which I love!
google avatar

Gina N.

Yelp
I'll just start out by saying that I'm typically not a fan of handrolls, but KazuNori has converted me. My friends and I were visiting from Houston and Seattle, and we were antincipating eating at this restaurant all weekend during our vist. There seems to be a line out the door most of the time, but it moves realatively quicky - don't let it discourage you... it's 100% worth the wait. There's a set menu with combo options, A La Carte, and Daily specials are also availible. I went with the 5 handroll set combo and 1 Ko Ika Hand Roll. Towards the end of the meal I got super full and started to take out some rice from my hand rolls. I'd reccomend starting off with 4-5 rolls and adding more if you're still hungry. My favorite handrolls had to be The Bay Scallop, Yellow Tail, and Ko Ika. The Ko Ika really stood out to me bc it was spicy and has shiso leaves making it light and refreshing. Every roll was simply crispy on the outside, warm rice on the inside, and tasted so fresh!! None of them dissapointed. The price point also makes this place all-the-better. It's super afforadable, no tipping, for a high-quality experience. The service is quick - turn and burn. Servers are friendly and food comes out at a great pace. Expect to sit side-by-side with other's since seating is limited to the long bar. The ambiance is friendly and casual, but may not be the best for large groups. Overall, Great option for handrolls.

Yelp
Ok I was on a serious mission! Flew home from Detroit (where I live now) into LAX and had a hankering for sushi in the air. I ordered the lobster split and crab! Service was great and they validated! Ambiance reminded me of the NYC location and there was a line.

Yelp
Ya it's good. Not amazing. But good. I don't understand why the line wraps around the building, you'd think they were giving away gold. I've had great sushi, and this was not it. A solid four stars.

Yelp
What else is there to say? It's KazuNori! I went to this spot at least once a week for two years when I lived in Marina del Rey. It is by the water in the beautiful new Boardwalk, right outside the window are incredible views of boats and sunsets, and fresh air coming off the ocean. As nice as it is from a location perspective, all that pales in comparison to the food. This is a handroll only establishment. When I used to tell people that, they'd be skeptical. But every time I brought someone there, their mind was instantly put at ease. It doesn't matter which handroll you get, they're all amazing. My favorites are the Toro, Yellowtail, and Seabream, but honestly it's so difficult to choose because the Crab and Lobster rolls are equally as amazing. The moment you bite into a handroll, you can tell the fish is so fresh. It was probably swimming that morning! But on top of that, KazuNori nails the Japanese style rice, it's lightly warm, just a touch sour from rice wine vinegar, and just perfectly sized to fill out the seaweed crisp and balance out the fish. From a service angle, KazuNori is top notch. It would be really easy for the staff to be short or curt with people, especially at a place that's so popular and typically has lines out the door most of the day, but they never are. They're friendly, accommodating, and always explaining the situation if people are getting frustrated. They do a good job of getting guests in and out to minimize wait times, but when you're dining there you never feel rushed. That's a hard balance to strike. KazuNori is one of my favorite sushi spots in all of LA, and possibly the world.

Yelp
Yum! We came on a Saturday at 6PM and luckily only had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. The staff were very friendly and the prices were fair. The menu was straightforward and it looks like most of the patrons already knew what they wanted the moment they sat down. Once the sun set and it was dark, it was pretty hard to see in the restaurant because they had very dim lighting. Something to keep in mind if you have a hard time seeing in low lighting!

Yelp
KazuNori offers a consistently excellent experience. I enjoyed my experiences at locations in Santa Monica and Midtown Manhattan; Marina Del Rey was just as good! The setting on the marina and watching boats come in and out are so nice. I like the 5-roll option. Crab is my favorite. I enjoy the crunch of the seaweed, warmth of the rice, and freshness of the filling. It's so great the rolls are made to order. The staff is so friendly.

Yelp
Honestly, I was really surprised by the way customers are treated at this location. When I walked in, the bar chairs were set way too close together, which is very different from other locations. The AC also wasn't working properly, and with so many people in one area, it felt uncomfortable to breathe the same warm air. The sun was hitting directly on my back, so I changed my seat, and the response I received was unnecessarily rude. On top of that, the receptionist made it very obvious that she doesn't enjoy her job, and her attitude reflected that.

Yelp
I had a 5 star experience here on 8/1, my first time at this location. Something about the food tasting fresher when you have a harbor view at sunset.

Yelp
Almost everything we tried was excellent -- toro, salmon, yellowtail, eel, crab, and sea bream were all fresh and well-balanced. The rice was perfectly seasoned, especially for the richer cuts like toro and eel. Surprisingly, the ginger and seaweed were standout elements -- the ginger was bright and clean, and the nori had that ideal crisp snap that makes each hand roll feel sharp and fresh. The only miss was the lobster. It came in the set, but I wouldn't order it on its own -- the texture didn't feel like real lobster and it tasted like something else. Disappointing, especially since it's the priciest roll. Overall, a great experience. Everyone was also really nice!-- just skip the lobster. Also be ready to wait at least 40 mins on weekend. Not sure if weekdays are better. Hopefully wait isn't too bad on weekdays. One more thing, parking was a bit limited during prime time. But they will validate your parking. You get 2 hours so it worked out fine with the wait.

Yelp
Hand Rolls were 11/10. Fresh and flavorful. The eel was so so good and everything was so meticulously placed (Japanese style). Very intimate setting. There is a line for lunch so make sure to get there early but worth the wait. Go to spot in Marina Del Rey

Yelp
Came at opening on a Sunday and it filled pretty quickly. No better deal for hand rolls - I have to come every time I come to LA. The rolls are simple and delicious with warm rice and six roll deal is very filling. It's a very relaxed and quick meal - great time!

Yelp
I went on a Friday night (8pm) with a party of 5 people. We waited for about an hour so I would recommend coming during the week. But the sushi was amazing! It was worth the wait! I got 5 rolls which was more than enough and the ice green tea! The service was fast once we got seated and I'm glad the 5 of us were able to sit together.

Yelp
2nd time here at this location and multiple times back at a Kazunori! Expect to wait about 30 mins to an hour. The line may look daunting but it moves at a decent pace. Ordered the 6 roll set for $28, which came with toro, salmon, yellowtail, bay scallops, crab, and lobster. I also ordered an extra sea bream hand roll for $5.75. My favorite rolls have to be the scallops, crab, and lobster! Just packed with so much flavor! A few criticisms from this visit, I loved the toro, but fish was a little skimpy. The sea bream and yellowtail was lacking flavor, sea bream came out really cold, once I let it sit a little, can start tasting the fish. There is also a $12.00 service charge fee. Overall still my favorite hand roll place! Even with a few inconsistencies, I'm always left satisfied!

Yelp
Last couple times I've come here seems to be managed very poorly. First time it seemed as 8 people were working and nobody was making food. After waiting in line an hour we waited for hand rolls forever before someone came off break. Next time we waited in line over an hour bc they were trying to accommodate a party of 10 before us. Lots of people working nobody making food again. The pony tailed manager is a big no for me dawg.

Yelp
My cousins took us here when we came in town to visit and the hand rolls were phenomenal. They are huge foodies in the LA scene and we just came back to Japan, so we all have pretty high standards when it comes to raw fish. The lines and wait can be pretty long and there's not a lot of seating, it's all counter service which makes sense for hand rolls. For big eaters like my husband I recommend getting 7-8 hand rolls. For me, I did the 6 hand roll menu set so I can try one of everything and I was struggling a bit by the 5th roll. You can also do substitutions. The highlights were the toro, yellowtail, salmon, and the bay scallops. I would sub out the crab for a second hand roll of bay scallops or even the lobster. It was that good! The rice was perfectly cooked and the service was good! I will be adding this my go-to eats in LA.

Yelp
I've come here twice now and have enjoyed the food and ambiance both times. I usually get the 6-Hand Roll Combo since it is cheaper to get the combo vs. ordering each one individually. This also allows me to have a variety of hand rolls. The nori seaweed is crispy, the rice nice and warm, and the fish/seafood inside is fresh. I like how they don't doctor up the filling too much. I actually am able to taste the fish/seafood vs. other places that add so much mayo or sauces or other flavors that I can't even taste the fish/seafood. The 6-Hand Roll combo gets me pretty full since there's plenty of rice and filling inside each hand roll. I luckily haven't had to wait very long to eat here (party of two usually). I came on Tuesday and a Wednesday between 4:30 and 5, and had to wait maybe 5-15 minutes.

Yelp
One of the better locations in LA! Located next to the docks and within a plaza with other restaurants and has a dedicated parking lot. During prime lunch and dinner hours (esp on weekends), parking can get rough though. The ambiance is typical of what you'd expect from a Kazu restaurant. Service is always good here. It may take longer to receive your rolls if you come during busy hours, but it's still overall quite fast. I usually order the 5 or 6 handroll set! It's enough to fill me up. If I'm feeling extra hungry, I'll add another roll on a la carte. The toro and yellowtail are my favorites. Nothing beats a classic salmon though.

Yelp
When i go anywhere near a coastal state, the first thing i crave is sushi. And when i heard about Kazunori, i HAD to check out. I love a good handroll, and their limited menu is basically only handrolls and sashimi. Since the space is pretty small (only about 10-12 bar seats), the wait was bit long to get inside (about 30-45min during lunchtime). I will say the prices are very reasonable for the quality of hand rolls you get along with the entertainment of watching the chefs prepare it right in front of you.
