Plant Based Papi Opens Vegan Ra Ra Ramen at Portland’s Lil’ Dame | Eater Portland

"Operating Friday through Sunday, Ra Ra Ramen is an all-plant-based ramen pop-up centered on three bowls—the Classic Ra Ra, Firecracker Ra Ra, and Smoky Sweet Corn Ra Ra—each featuring Manuel’s homemade noodles and broth; instead of relying on miso, the broth’s creaminess comes from a blend of sunflower and hemp seeds plus kombu, shallots and roughly 17 ingredients, and Manuel avoids meat substitutes in favor of whole-food proteins like marinated mushrooms and tofu. The menu also includes crispy chile garlic noodles with housemade sesame garlic chile oil, bao buns stuffed with gochujang- and miso-marinated “pork” made from mushrooms, and a cucumber salad with pickled daikon. After six months of development, Ra Ra Ramen debuted on September 13 and will operate out of Lil' Dame for the foreseeable future with no immediate plans to become a permanent restaurant." - Rebecca Roland

Went here with a homie a few weeks ago for the pop up by, Shigeya Fujisaki, the proud owner of Musashiya Kichijoji. I ordered the Calamari, Gyoza, KC Bun, and Musashiya Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. Yes, a lot of food, but I wanted leftovers. This is my first time at this restaurant. Definitely worth the wait. We were ushered to our seats quickly, despite the long line outside the door. Our servers were incredibly informed and fast and efficient. As far as the food goes, it is literally hands-down the best Ramen I’ve ever had in Kansas City. The homemade wheat noodles are just the right consistency, and clung to the broth. I added on the pork belly, and was not disappointed. All of my side items were incredible as well! My favorite was probably the KC Bun. It was really cool experience all around. I cannot wait to get back and try other menu items.. the food was so incredible.

Wonderful fresh made noodles, outstanding ramen combinations and gyoza, plus the spring rolls and chicken karaage are a must have. Easy to use online check in and the staff is so friendly and accomodating. One of KC's best restaurants

Love the experience. Cool place. Awesome food and service. Everything we tried was delicious! Love the KC Ramen and crispy chicken and crispy pork bun. Will definitely come back 😋

This was our first time visiting KC Craft Ramen and it certainly won’t be our last! Even though the line was long to be seated, it moved pretty quickly. Service was impeccable and very friendly, and the food was delicious and hot! Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Absolutely love this place! The ramen and really any of their dishes are amazing! Love the atmosphere, the anime and the Japanese snacks. Staff is super friendly, they all welcome you in. If you don't know what to get they advise you well. I can't recommend this place enough! 1000/10

Fantastic spot! The ramen was rich and flavorful, service was friendly and fast, and the prices were extremely reasonable. We waited about 20 minutes since it was busy all day, but totally worth it. Highly recommend KC Craft Ramen!

We ate here for lunch today!! Wow!! Everything was perfect. The customer service was above and beyond. Such an awesome experience. The food was hot fresh and delicious. The owners are so nice and kind. The atmosphere felt like I was in Japan.

Yelp
Whats not to LOVE? Great food, warm and sincere service with a few extra touches like a traditional greeting and goodbye. they will bring you a little tote to place your purse into for cleanliness and safety (I assume) Fun gifts and snacks. GO THERE!!!

Yelp
Authentic Flavor - Broths that taste rich, balanced, and layered (e.g., tonkotsu, miso, or shoyu done right). * Fresh Ingredients - House-made noodles, slow-cooked broths, fresh toppings. * Creative Menu - Unique bowls, seasonal specials, or fusion twists that stand out. * Service & Atmosphere - Friendly staff, fast service, and a cozy or stylish vibe. * Consistency - Every bowl tasting as good as the last visit (rare for niche restaurants). * Value - Large portions or high-quality ramen at a fair price.

Yelp
Love love love this place. To get in line to order, you're in this aisle of unique Asian drinks, desserts, candies, merchandise. The staff is very friendly they hand to you the menu and tells you the most popular ramen (black garlic) while you wait to give your order. I opted to dine in during this lunch time. It's self serve, after you order you place your table number, get your utensils and they have hot/cold water dispenser. The order came out within 10 minutes, looks like a small portion but actually a deep bowl of wonderful ramen noodles (fresh hand stretched?) with pork Chasiu (pork), half soft boiled egg, mushrooms, etc. The broth is delicious, full of flavor. I can see why this is the highest rated ramen place in Lenexa/Overland Park area. Atmosphere is cute, with 2 dining areas large enough for what I can imagine the volume of dinner or weekend crowd. Decor is cute with live plants on the window sill, nice glass bulbs hanging from rustic ropes on wooden poles. There are twinkling red/orange/green lights which add to the festive atmosphere. I saw that the table next to me ordered the fried rice which they stir for your table side. Will definitely come back here next time am in town (hoping there's a next time since I love Kansas having visited this first time, my boyfriend Matt Dz*****z' hometown!)

Yelp
Fantastic ramen and such a fun experience! First, I'll say that KC Craft Ramen has a lively, casual energy and unique, adorable decor. We were welcomed warmly to by a hostess who saw us to our table, fairly quickly since we took advantage of their waitlist option. From there, we ordered the KC Black ramen, KC Bun and gyoza pork dumplings - all were amazing! Our ramen was perfectly savory and creamy, with al dente noodles and delicious pork. Our other appetizers were also great - the KC bun is a standout with tender and flavorful pork belly on a fluffy bun. Highly recommend a visit to this unassuming strip mall shop in OP for some fantastic ramen and vibes!

Yelp
As many other yelpers have stated, this is truly the best ramen in KC. It rivals the ramen I've had in other major cities. I seriously think about the ramen here at least once a week because it is that good! You truly can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Whether you get to go/ or dine in you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Food is always great, however, if you have the chance to attend one of their Collaboration meals, don't hesitate to purchase tickets.

Yelp
The best ramen I've ever had--hands down! I went on a Tuesday, and the place was absolutely packed, which already told me I was in for something special. The atmosphere made me feel like I was right in Japan, surrounded by authentic decorations and shelves of Japanese snacks. I loved everything, from the perfectly seasoned edamame to the crispy, flavorful gyoza--and of course, the star of the show: the most delicious ramen I've ever tasted. I also ordered a side of pork belly, and I've never had it so tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. For drinks, I tried an alcoholic beverage called Aladdin, and it was just as magical as the name suggests--rich, flavorful, and so refreshing. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. If you're in the area, this is an absolute must-visit. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
Loved getting to try this out during an event weekend. It holds up in comparing it to true Ramen from Japan!! Appetizers were good - and ramen was piping hot, fresh and full of flavor. Love the area when you walk in to choose your drink or item to go or whatever other fun item they have to check out. We will definitely be back and bring friends. Service was quick and friendly. LOVED loved the atmosphere.

Yelp
I arrived a few minutes before they opened their doors for the lunch crowd and there was a line. Once the doors opened to comeback the anxious crowd the employees held the doors open and handed menus to each customer. A few minutes after you've received a menu they walked through the line with portable credit card machines to help take orders and quickly shorten the line. The employees continually asked if we were enjoying our food and if we needed anything else. The food was good but nothing special. My Spicy Sesame Vegan was supposed to be spicy but I think they could have easily added triple the amount or more spicy to give it a small bite. I'm a little disappointed there were a few meat choices except a lot of pork. The ambiance is very casual with Asian decor, tchotchkes, alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink options, and sweets to buy. I'd come again if I someone really wanted to but special trip for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow this place is a lot to take in. Grab your drink when you are waiting in line. There are all kinds of Asian candies and treats there too. We had the truffle edamame and I have to say it was outstanding! The taste was different (in a good way) and addictive. The spicy cream chicken ramen was flavorful, but no joke. They truly spiced it up, if you don't normally have truly spicy dishes, get the spicy sauce on the side. Absolutely fun, fast, and delicious. Will be here again.

Yelp
Probably one of the best places you can get consistently solid and well crafted ramen in Kansas! If you're tired of fusion ramen having random non traditional things like carrots and veggies in a broth that just isn't hitting the spot, give this a shot. Even a year after opening there was always a 40 min+ wait until closing. It has calmed down since then but you can easily see why once you give this place a taste. If the food wasn't enough to make you come in, the makeshift Japanese store interior as you walk in is so cute with so many options. They even sell smiskis if you've been having a hard time getting your hands on these blind boxes. A unique restaurant experience unique to Kansas making it worth the visit! I always get the KC black if you want the most rich and savory soup base. The meat that comes with the creamy chicken is a little dry so I wouldn't personally recommend that one. The KC buns are pretty good to try but on the pricier side so I would rather get the gyoza which is both more satisfying and filling for a similar price. The wrapper is thin and crispy and the filling is well seasoned I didn't even need extra sauce! If you're a spice fiend the KC red is solid but i just opted for the KC black and asked for their spicy oil on the side (a little goes a long way)

Yelp
Amazing!!! It's worth the drive from KCMO. The service was very friendly with an authentic feel as they greet you in Japanese when you walk in As you wait in line there are drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic), figurines, snacks, and desserts. You pay upfront before your meal is brought out, but they ask you if that's ok first. The ramen was delicious without many others who seem to over-season.

Yelp
I desperately wanted to come to KC Craft Ramen and bless it with my very own 10 star review, based on everything I had seen and heard of it! But, alas, reality had other plans... TL;DR: overall, it's good, but not great. We went early on a Saturday, as I had heard the place could STILL command quite a wait on weekends during prime time. We were able to get right in, and were seated promptly. The dining room is tight, and the seating is less than comfortable. However, they move people through pretty darn quick, so you likely won't be here long enough for any real amount of discomfort to set in. To the aforementioned point on "quickness": we were visited promptly after being seated by multiple staff, with freebies (popcorn!!) landing on the table, and our "waiter", if you can call it that, reviewing the menu with us first-timers, and taking our order. On the plus side, our waiter did take a moment to go over the menu with us, answer our questions, and make recommendations. On the down side: he took payment immediately after placing the order, which became an issue because, as you would expect, the payment screen asked about a tip, prior to us actually getting to experience any actual "service", other than being seated and a quick review of the menu. Why does this matter? Well, because we never saw the guy again. Not for refills, not for serving our food, not for checking back on how the meal was progressing, not for asking about further food or dessert...nothing. So, if I could go back in time, the tip would be a hard ZERO for the service, and I feel completely duped for having to give and sign off on a tip, prior to the end of the dining experience. If they want payment for food immediately after ordering, that should not come with a tip screen included, before the dining experience and service has concluded. As a team, they did a nice job of covering the minimal bases: serving the food, cleaning up our finished dishes, and seeing us out. Decently prompt and attentive, but relatively "cold" in overall approach. On top of being tight, we found the dining room to be very uncomfortable from a climate perspective: warm and humid. You can tell that between the open kitchen steaming noodles and vegetables, and the warm temps outside being welcomed in every time the door (without enclosed foyer) opens, it's a major struggle to keep it comfortable on a warm day. So, that's a LOT of talk about a restaurant before having said a word about the food! I know, I know...I'm sorry. Here's what you've all been waiting for -- The food was.........a bit lackluster, if I am completely honest. Good? Yes. Great? As much as I hate to say it, no, the food was not as great as I've heard. Maybe it's a case of oversold and underwhelmed, but, all three of us agreed that it WAS underwhelming, especially for all the hype we have heard for so long. The big positive here was that ALL the food came out extremely quickly! Like, possibly record-breaking quickly! However, with the lackluster service and uncomfortable dining room, alongside the only-decent food, we'd be pretty hard-pressed to want to waste another "going out" evening here, unfortunately. Food = 3/5 Facility = 2/5 Service = 2/5 Ambiance = 2/5 Value = 3/5

Yelp
Incredible! Definitely the best ramen I've ever had. Everything we had here was outstanding and service is outstanding, even with the high volume of customers. We started with the chicken bao buns, which we loved. Great cook on the chicken and great flavor. We also had some gyoza, which had a great crisp on it while maintaining the delectable flavor and moisture on the inside. My wife, who used to live in Japan, said this is what the gyoza tastes like in Japan. High praise! At this point it was no surprise how beautiful the ramen tasted. I went with the Spicy Miso Ramen and I was blown away. Amazing flavor, perfect spice level...and I would say everything was the perfect temperature too! The atmosphere is fun, with anime on multiple screens and so many additional things to purchase: Asian snacks, desserts, collectibles, etc. etc. I can't wait to return here. Compliments to the chefs and the staff.

Yelp
I started hearing from friends about KC Craft Ramen months before it opened. Through the delays to get up and running, through their challenges to find enough employees to open for regular hours, to the long (very long) lines that kept me away for close to a year after their opening. I heard people raving. I finally went for lunch on a cold Saturday in late March. I got there about ten minutes after they opened (at noon) and the place was already packed. They sell all kinds of Japanese snacks and drinks as you walk in. I didn't get a good look at them, thinking I'd take a look after lunch. That didn't happen. By the time I went back there were so many people in line to get in, that area was too crowded. Entering the dining area almost every seat was filled, but it certainly looked like KC Craft Ramen solved their wait staff shortage. There were a lot of employees bustling about, saying hello, and cheerfully helping patrons. On their television monitors they played either Japanese anime or scenic shots of Japan. I was seated at a small table as soon as I got in and they brought a bottle of water, a stainless steel cup, service ware, and a menu. I asked the friendly young man who came to take my order (no one wears name tags) what his favorite dish was and he said immediately The KC Red. Because I wasn't sure about the heat level, he said they can put the chili sauce on the side. Turns out, I needn't have worried. The heat level was about the same as Sriracha. The ramen was okay. A little bland without the spicy oil. The noodles were great. The egg was sweet, which was a surprise, and not to my liking. And so was the bamboo shoots, which also had a few too many tough pieces. The char siu was better than I've had anywhere since moving to the Midwest. Compared to other Asian food restaurants in Kansas this one was better than most. All around me I could hear people raving to their friends about the food. I know my sister loves it. My friends love it. It's just not going to be my favorite. I'm glad I tried it, though.

Yelp
This is easily the best ramen in town--and that's saying a lot, considering the growing number of contenders popping up lately all over town. The broth has everything you'd look for in an authentic ramen broth - it's rich, thick, and deeply flavorful. And, the noodles are cooked to perfect al dente. But what I really want to highlight is the service and the overall ambience of the restaurant. Service is refreshingly authentic, staying true to Japanese hospitality. From the moment you step inside, you're transported into an entirely different world. KC Craft Ramen isn't just a meal worth eating--it's an experience worth having.

Yelp
I have to agree with the rest of Kansas City and say that KC Craft Ramen is indeed the best in town. I STILL haven't had a chance to dine in yet, but it's on my to-do list for 2025 for sure. We did doordash, which I know is not the best way to enjoy ramen, but I was probably two weeks postpartum, exhausted, and really craving a soft boiled egg, which I wasn't able to eat while pregnant, so when I saw that you could get KC Craft Ramen delivered I jumped at the chance to finally give this place a go. As far as delivery goes it's a slam dunk here for ramen. They take the care to package everything separate so that nothing gets too soggy, and you can easily assemble it in your own home. On a chilly November night this was the best thing to treat ourselves to and I am already thinking about our next visit. I'm immensely grateful that KC finally has a solid ramen spot as I didn't realize how spoiled I was when I lived in Seattle and I've been on the hunt for something that came close to what I experienced there. KC Craft Ramen is the closest you're going to get to west coast ramen in KC and lucky for me it's not too far away.

Yelp
It's taken a bit to finally try this new spot, but KC Craft Ramen did not disappoint! The dining area was packed on a Tuesday night (and always it seems), with patrons encouraged to spend no more than an hour eating. The ramen was reasonably priced but most importantly, DELICIOUS. The gyoza is also incredible. Pair the meal with an Asahi Super Dry lager (which you grab from the front before being seated) and you've got the perfect combo. Tiny bowls of free spiced popcorn are just another bonus. Pro tip for herbivores: they allow you to sub tofu in any of the popular ramen offerings, which is a game changer. Not sure how an unassuming strip in Overland Park bagged such a fabulous restaurant, but we will be back!
google avatar

Kay D.

Yelp
Best ramen in town! They are busy but we were able to get seated pretty quickly with reservation. The ramen was delicious and extremely flavorful. The handmade potstickers were also a delight! Service was fine, however they did forget about our potstickers and did not do anything to make up for this delay. We had to remind them about our potsticker order and were finished with our main entrees by the time the potstickers came out. It happens, but the server did not take responsibility for forgetting and it was inconvenient for us.

Yelp
What an amazing ramen place. Felt like I was in Japan. The decor was beautiful and made it seem like a little Japanese market as you walk in and everyone greeted you in Japanese. The service was friendly and fast. The food was delicious. I got tonkatsu with pork belly chashu and it tasted magnificent. I will be coming back!

Yelp
Location: Overland Park, Kansas city KS Ambiance: Family oriented. It is nice for a date too but it is usually crowded Food: i don't hesitate to say that it should be the best Ramen from Kansas city Metro. Ingredients feel fresh. Broth is delicious. I got the spicy chicken ramen and it was truly spicy. I just loved it. Noodles were perfectly cooked. Service: It is excellent. They are on top of you since the turnover is fast. Yelp factor: Best Ramen of Kansas city metro. Prove me wrong!!!!

Yelp
My first experience with this place was amazing. My friends and I were greeted at the door by who I assumed to be the owner who explained that they had flown a chef out from Kanagawa Japan to make their ramen for the day. After hearing that, I was ready for a phenomenal experience- and KC Craft Ramen made sure to deliver one. The ramen I had there was fantastic. The broth was one of the best I have ever tried in my life. Besides the food the service there was wonderful. The whole staff was smiling and very lively. They greeted everyone with a hello when they walked in the door! Everyone there was also very eager to answer any questions. On top of everything the chef that had made the ramen came out to talk with us, and everyone else in the restaurant! They also have a mini shop in front for keychains, stickers, food, ect. Service was quick and the ambiance was lovely! I was completely blown away. I will be coming back.

Yelp
Ramen on a cold winter day, what could be better? My partner and I ventured down to OP to try out this burgeoning hit and it did not disappoint. Tried to do a reservation but they don't take them here, they do have a wait-list on their website which seemed to work really well including giving you a time table of when you're up for a table. Walking in I was impressed with the livelihood of the place the staff are regularly yelling something in unison, no idea what that's about lol but pretty cool. The service is really great, such hospitable servers that take extra time to talk with you and make you feel right at home. I got the KC Black ramen which was really good, nothing too flashy honestly, just really rich and tasty broth with some standard components and black garlic. My partner had the KC Red ramen and that one has more of a spicy kick which was really incredible, highly recommend if you like a bit of spice and heat. I will say the chasu pork shoulder leaves a little to be desired. The bao buns were phenomenal and maybe my favorite part of our meal was the fried pork was just so mouth watering delicious! Overall the experience was pretty great, the atmosphere is a bit chaotic at what seemed to be peak dinner rush. Just lots of tables and servers moving around going above and beyond. I would definitely come back and try some other items on the menu that I've heard are great

Yelp
We had a great dinner here and had no problem making reservations and getting in on a weekend. We ordered way too much food-generous portions. Since it was our first time, we got two starters and tried the Ramen. They were very accommodating to my hubby's corn allergy and made sure to leave it out. We had forgotten to mention that when we ordered, and they quickly met our needs. The Goyza and the bao buns were terrific! The Ramen was pretty good. It's not the best I've ever had, but I would return based on the service, ambiance, and the rest of the menu.

Yelp
The reviews for this place made me pop in but once I arrived in to order I was a bit disappointed. Customer service was meh, I felt very much rushed and pressured to order but there weren't many pescatarian options. Place is small and a bit pricey for certain things, nevertheless I left without ordering.

Yelp
Lovely ramen joint with extremely fast service! Added a party of 8 to their waitlist and only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We picked our drinks along the left wall where you walk in, and the hostess was able to take our order at the stand while we waited for our table. We also had the option of being seated before ordering, but we were hunnnnggrrryyy as this place was 35 minutes away from where we were staying. Our apps came as soon as we sat down! The pork gyoza that we ordered was pan fried and juicy theory the ramen, my husband got the KC Red (spicy oil) and I got the KC Black (black garlic). My husband got an extra serving of noodles as he said he was starving, but when the ramen came out, he realized he made a mistake because the portion sizes were very generous! My husband liked the KC Red, but said the KC Black had more depth in flavor and richness, and I agreed. We also got some free servings of bar snacks as they are currently running a special, where these snacks will come with any purchase of alcohol.

Yelp
Have been in here a few times since an initial Yelp event and I have to say... it's fantastic. The service has been top notch each time, the food is amazing, and the decor/vibe is interesting. I've tried a couple varieties of ramen and the creamy chicken with some spicy oil is my favorite. The pork chashu is good, but the chicken is better IMO. That being said, for a place with ramen in the name...the "other" stuff is actually the best. The KC Bun (fried pork cutlets with KC sauce) is my favorite. 10/10, you've got a try one. You could honestly just get an order of two of them and call it a meal. The chicken karaage is also fantastic, but pro tip, make sure you get it with the KC sauce. And while there are a lot of Japanese drinks available, I typically just opt for water. You can also get some Japanese snacks and stuff when you walk in. The only bad thing about this place? It gets busy real quick and there can be a wait since it's a pretty small restaurant. That being said, it's worth said wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Such great food, and a wide variety of drink options. The line can get pretty long but staff are efficient and line moves quickly! During lunch you order at the register but during dinner hours your order is taken at the table. I'm sad that the broth can't be made GF, there is gluten free noodles but the ramen is not safe for Celiacs

Yelp
A well oiled machine doesn't run as smoothly as KC Craft Ramen. Designed for the consumer, punching out bowl after bowl of piping hot ramen for one family, two, then three more. But then there's how these bowls get passed out. Staff line the floor of KC Craft; two taking orders, three passing out food, four bussing tables. Seamlessly working together to provide a hospitable experience at a moments notice, never forgetting to shout "Thanks for dropping in" as the door closes behind you. For the consumer, there's a myriad of anime figurines, anime inspired decorations, and anime anime playing on TVs throughout the room. There's plenty of anime to peruse, but KC Craft's obvious favorite is One Piece, with just one hint being the tattered rope hanging across the ceiling as if dangling from the edge of a pirate ship. If one thing's for sure, it's that your eyes will never tire in KC Craft. Now let's talk food! The tonkotsu ramen tasted classic, creamy soup, rich and sweet, a filling meal that's never disappointing. While not as deeply flavorful as other ramens, the sweetness was engaging paired with a hard cider, and the list of add-on ingredients was impressive. KC Craft Ramen is a great spot for a quick family meal, and surprisingly accommodating for a laid-back solo dinner - especially if you like anime. And feel free to disregard that motherly voice in the back of your head. "Can you even taste your food? You're eating it SO fast!" Yes mom, it just tastes that good!

Yelp
I love this place. First, don't get me started on the decor. Absolutely chefs kiss. This place is always absolutely packed, especially on the weekends. Join their waitlist to be seated promptly. People cycle in and out pretty quickly. Service is quick and food is delicious so you'll be in and out. Everything we've tried is amazing. Honorable mention to the creamy chicken (spicy and regular, but spicy is reallyyyy spicy) dumplings, and calamari. Private parking lot available.

Yelp
Had a great take out experience with @kc_craft_ramen and @yelp. I was always planning on getting to go but also they were on a 30 minute wait on a Saturday 30 minutes after they opened! So plan accordingly and it is 100% with the wait. I got the spicy miso ramen as a to go. The noodles, pork, and all topping were in the top part of the container with the amazing broth underneath. . Everything stayed just as it needed to as I drove home. The flavors were great. The miso in the broth was different than other ramens I have had and it added a depth with the spice that was great. The homemade noodles were tender and soft perfect for the broth. We also got the curry pork. The curry sauce I could eat on anything. Service was great and the environment is welcoming.

Yelp
I've now been here twice and both times were excellent. The KC Red ramen is spicy and tastes great. The KC Pepper Chicken came hot and fresh when it hit our table. Of note, the patio is presently being renovated, so the wait times are long for the dining room. Also, the only "gripe" I will say I have is the server asking if we want the check right after ordering. I get they want to flip tables, but I'd like to at least get my food before having the check handed over when I'm dining in. Otherwise all is great here.

Yelp
I'm a newbie to Ramen, I had it once before and remember the broth being the star. I took a friend who loves Ramen and he truly enjoyed his bowl KC Red (spicy oil) in Tankotsu broth and I had KC Black (black garlic oil) in Chashu broth. As I look over the menu these 2 bowls have all with the same ingredients bean sprouts, seasoned egg, shredded green onions, seasoned Bamboo shoots and corn. My friend wasn't sure where the corn came from, he thinks maybe that's the Midwest reference? Each had a tender cuts of pork loin shoulder and the broth differences were that one was white and the other was dark. Tonkotsu: pork bones are boiled longer which makes the broth cloudy and fatty but full of rich porky flavor. Chashu: braising pork shoulder or pork belly in a flavorful combination of sake, soy sauce and sugar. The service was quick and she did a great job of guiding us through the menu. As you walk in there's a cooler if you wanted something to drink you grab and take with you. Once you order you also pay at that time. It was great experience.

Yelp
Do you want to experience authentic Japanese food then you don't have to look any further than KC Craft Ramen. Walking in lot the establishment the ambiance is set as Japan seeing all of the anime action figure from so many different shows. Love seeing that you can grab different snacks that are traditional to Japan. Service was great after taking use to the table they took my order and I would say we didn't have to wait long for the food to be brought to my table. After grabbing my drink I was able to order the KC Black and the KC Bun. The appetizer KC buns were so good with the chicken and the sweet and fluffy bun they created with dish. The KC Black was so delicious the pork lion was tender with the season egg and noodles were cooked perfectly. The broth after eating the bowl felt like a second meal.

Yelp
It can be a wait and smidge more $ than others but it KC Craft Ramen is crazy good. It's an experience for sure. Note that while they don't have a waiting area inside, the parking is close enough that waiting in my car was painless if not pleasant. The wait went fast and once in your instantly introduced to snacks, cakes, drinks and collectibles. It definitely has a theme, think anime cafe. Staff are eager to assist to ensure your meal is exactly what you want. Greeted when you enter and they check in just the right amount.

Yelp
Kc Craft ramen - thank you for finally sustaining my azn belly!! Since moving to KC from the east coast, I have been searching for some version of authentic ramen - and this is the place! The bummer is they do not accept reservations, and you must have the entire party present before you can order and sit down. There's no guarantee for where you may end up sitting. It gets busy around lunch time, so make sure you plan ahead! The ramen is wonderfully seasoned - I got the kc black ramen which was so good - well seasoned, delicious pork chashu, and the egg - oh my goodness the jamminess of the egg!! I could have loads of those. Good portion size. The hand rolls they sell on the side are a bit soggy - I wish they used the onigiri type plastic wrap for that too so it's not already touching the seaweed. Overpriced for what you're getting. If only they'd allow reservations or an online line up - that would be great.

Yelp
This little jewel was so fun and delicious! The atmosphere was straight out of Japan and the staff were so helpful and sweet! The food was amazing! We will be coming here again and again!

Yelp
I really like the atmosphere, staff, and snack line. I think the ramen is pretty good but not my favorite. They don't use traditional curlyish noodles they use straight skinny noodles (trucker style if you've ever eaten at a truck stop in Japan).

Yelp
Could be biased, but we finally came to eat here during a special guest time when Japanese Chef Makishima came for a week long popup from Kanagawa. Having eaten and being well traveled around Japan, I can say confidently that I've had my fair share of authentic ramens. I ordered the special vegan ramen and my partner had the spicy kanshudo ramen. Both were excellent and the best bowls we've ever had in the states, or anywhere we've traveled outside of Japan. My vegan bowl was nice and meaty despite being meat free. The fried enoki mushrooms were otherworldly. The specialty printed nori is also such a nice touch. The nori was also still crispy and nicely toasted, even though it was in the delicious broth. It was perfect--not too salty like we get in other places stateside. In addition to the bowls, we also shared a clam onigiri appetizer. It was so delicious with very fresh masago. We sat outside in the back deck porch area. Though it was hot, it felt just like how it is to enjoy a bowl of ramen on a hot day in Kyoto. The servers checked in often, wanting to make sure we had plenty of cold water. Chef Makishima also clearly took pride in his work. He checked in with us and every table to see how things were. I am so excited to come back again. 10/10 would recommend this place for authentic Japanese food in KC.

Yelp
This is better than average ramen. The crank the people through quick and the food is still great. It was packed but my wait was no longer than 5 minutes and there were a couple larger parties ahead of me. I had the KC Red and the KC Pepper chicken. Holy smack that chicken was fantastic. Great flavor, nice spice and the crunch... The spicy ramen is probs med spicy to spicy. You grab your drink while in line. They have great beer selection, some wines and non-alcoholic beverages as well. And for us Texas, they have a variety of Shiner beers. They seat you, take your order and you pay right then. At least my waitress was having everyone pay right then. The other waiters waited until diners were finished. I highly recommend this place. Sorry no picture. I ate before I decided to review.

Yelp
Very cute place to have Ramen for any occasion. I came here due to my love for Ramen. The set up of the store is very unique! You have to options to pay. Before or after you eat. I enjoyed my spicy miso Ramon, lots of flavor in every bit! 10/10 server could've been more attentive. I definitely would give this place a try.

Yelp
Ramen is such a go to for me. KC Craft Ramen serves ultimate bowl of comfort. We got a KC Red bowl and a classic Tonkatsu and they were both so tasty. I'd order the KC Red next time it was so flavorful and my fiancé reported that it's the best ramen broth he's ever had and I just might agree. The noodles were so perfectly cooked and soaked up just the right amount of the broth. The ambiance here is SO cool. You walk through the doors and it's a totally different experience from what you usually get in KC. There's a mini market style grab and go area with onigiris, mochi, hand rolls and imported Japanese snacks and lots of cute little anime figures. Service was awesome everyone was super friendly and the place was clean and quick! Adding this to the KC rotation.

Yelp
If you love and want a good Ramen look no further. This is your spot. First time going and I went during one of their pop ups and I was very impressed. First, they have THE BEST customer service from the minute you walk in they make you feel so welcome no matter how busy they are. Food was fantastic from the appetizers to the ramen all were so good. Loved the truffle edamame. If you want good ramen this is your spot/

Yelp
This is probably one of the best ramen place in town. They craft their own noodles and everything is in house. We love the prompt service, fresh food, and noodles are cooked perfect. We started out with karage which is batter lightly, juicy and tender. Came out piping hot and it went well with their sauces. Next we got our bowl of ramen. We got the KC Red and KC Black. Both are cook with pork and everything in it was delicious. After a year of opening, it's nice to see them thriving and doing good. Definitely one of the best. Can't go wrong with their dishes. Next time I gotta try their pork buns.

Yelp
I was so impressed by the ramen here! I was rather surprised to learn that you order at the counter. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I've heard of people waiting over an hour to eat and after going, I realize it's due to the quantity of seating. I love the menu options and I love even more that they offer GF noodles in the ramen. The broth is amazing! I ordered some for a friend to take to her when she was sick, and she texted me saying how delicious it was. There are so many cute snacks along the wall where you stand in line. I definitely will be back and want to try other things on the menu!

Yelp
Their seating model is super unique- definitely utilize the "get in line" feature online! You'll wait in line and by the time you get to the front of the line to order, a table will magically be open for you! Plan to only stay an hour- they will need your table :) Pork gyoza was good as was the Creamy Chicken ramen. Flavors aren't super strong but this may be because of the large amount of customers and food they are serving! Preferred creamy chicken over the black garlic oil ramen. Date rating: if you don't want to commit to a longer than an hour date, it's perfect! Also good test for how someone may handle a busy environment, quick ordering, and chopstick ability! forks are available :) Parking: easy peasy!

Yelp
We tried this place today, and so glad we finally got in! We went in around 4:30 and had no wait, but it was busy with a lot going on. Ambiance was good, the only thing we weren't a huge fan of was how close together the tables are, but we get it. It's a small space and they are obliviously very busy and successful. As you walk in, you go through a little shop area and pick drinks out of the drink station. Otherwise they just give you water at the tables. We ordered fried calamari, it was good but the sauces for them weren't anything special. We got a mini chicken karaage bowl and it was very good, the chicken was amazing! The sauce on it, kc sauce? Was awesome too! We also ordered a kc black ramen bowl and it was pretty good too. Then we got a kc bun to try, and I would recommend those as well! Over all, pretty cool place with lots to try. We got some desserts and candy and unique soda to go and cannot wait to give those a try later.

Yelp
With good feedbacks going around about this place, I am little late to the partyyy! But, I can understand the hype for this place now. Service: The staff waited patiently throughout even though some of us joined 10 minutes late. Bethany did a great job in explaining the food items in the menu as some of us trying this place for the first time. Food: We ordered a bunch of food. Appetizers were so good. We tried KC Bun, Edamame, Chicken Karaage & Pork Gyoza. I liked the KC Bun very much. Pork cutlet is cooked evenly & got a little kick into because of their KC sauce. Staff told that you gotta try KC Black Ramen if it's your first time at this place. I added some spice into it by adding some chili oil. KC Red Ramen is the spicier version of KC Black Ramen. Quantity is also decent enough to fill you. Price is also decent. Ramen & an appetizer will be around 22-25 without tax. Hopefully, they'll find a bigger place very soon to accommodate more people. Peak hours will probably have some waiting time.
