KC’s BBQ Blames City of Berkeley for Smoker Trouble | Eater SF

"A 50-year-old barbecue restaurant, KC’s BBQ was hit with a cease-and-desist after neighbor complaints about its smoker left residents saying, “We cannot use our backyards, we cannot open our doors and windows,” and reporting burning eyes and sore throats. Although the city approved a use permit for the smoker about a year ago, the permit notes that businesses must install control equipment to protect the neighborhood from adverse smoke and that the permit is always subject to review. The owners were shocked by the notice, blamed the city for poor information and communication, and have appealed the violation, which moves the dispute to an administrative hearing." - Janelle Bitker

KC’s BBQ Is Back Up and Running at a New Location in Berkeley | Eater SF

"I'm reporting that KC’s BBQ is back in a new home — the former Meal Ticket space at 1235 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley — ahead of a June 2nd grand (re)opening. The 1968‑founded barbecue spot, which was displaced by a 2017 fire, is currently running limited preview hours in May: barbecue from 12 to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday breakfast (no barbecue) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Caleb Pershan

We always order to go and it never disappoints! The BBQ plate always hits and the mozzarella sticks have the best cheese pull. Online ordering is easy and pickup is always fast and friendly. The smoke wings and pulled pork are our favorite and you can’t go wrong with the nachos and loaded baked potato!! Ask for extra sauce- delicious.

Stopped by to do a cheeseburger review. You can find me on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook under the name Bama Burger Reviews. This burger is a monster. It was tasty but still leaves a little to be desired. There wasn't enough seasoning on it and it was missing a tomato. Check out my social media for the full video review.

The food here was great. I had the ribs and they were very good. You can get them with or without BBQ sauce which is a good option that a lot of barbecue places do not offer. I got mine without the sauce, but I did taste the sauce and it was a little spicy but it was good. Really great thing about this place is the view. It overlooks a gorgeous lake. All in all I would recommend trying this place out if you're ever in Scottsboro.

We have frequented this place since it moved to Jackson County Park. Our favorite thing was the brisket quesadillas. The brisket was amazing and at least an inch thick and very affordable. On 01/03/26 we arrived at 5:00pm and noticed there was only one other vehicle was there (which should have been a sign at that time of day). The three of us ordered and it was around $50 for two quesadillas and a cheese burger. When our food was brought out to us it blew my mind how thin the brisket quesadillas were. It was thinner than the quesadillas from Taco Bell with barely any meat on it. We will not be back. After discussing with friends we were told no one goes there anymore because of the prices and the lack of food they give you.

Beautiful location within Jackson County Park on the waterfront of Guntersville Lake. Friendly service with an expansive menu. Enjoyed the BBQ plate with hot BBQ sauce and hash brown casserole! Cheeseburger and Baked Beans were delicious as well. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with direct access to the dock.

We enjoyed our meals , having tried the big chuck burger and the brisket plate. You can't go wrong with any of the choices from what we saw on the other plates in the dining room. Off the beaten path hidden gem! The place is beautiful and though seating is limited it was a cozy feel. The one downside was not being able to figure out how to get to the outside dining area by the water feel the doors could be labeled better for this purpose. But we plan to come back to sample more of the delicious BBQ offered. They have a little bit of everything pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, brisket that was super flavorful, burgers, wings, nachos, stuffed potatoes, loaded fries, chicken fingers, grilled cheese or a BLT. The house bbq wasn't my favorite sauce more of a bbq meats 57 steak sauce but other than that no real complaints. The onion rings and fries were better than fast food fare and the green beans were good. Not a fan of the vinegar slaw but that's personal preference. Can't wait till the next visit.

The bbq sauce was gross. I had to order a hamburger after I couldn't eat my bbq sandwich. Then I had to wipe gobs of mustard off the burger before I could eat that. The woman who took our order and brought our food was really nice.

Stopped here today and was not positively impressed. Ordered a BBQ sandwich and a BBQ plate with baked beans and potato salad. The beans pretty good but the potato salad was not good at all. Potatoes were almost mashed and bland. Didn't see anything added, just potatoes. The meat was chopped very fine, had no smoke flavor, and could have come out of a can. Overall it wasn't a good experience and we probably won't go back.
