Keansburg Beach is a true locals’ favorite, known for its humble charm and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. The Jersey Journal and Patch.com highlight its independent boardwalk amusements and well-kept beach, which remains open and accessible even during peak season. Family-run snack bars, a vintage carousel, and a classic water park make it especially popular with families seeking a nostalgic day trip. The gentle waves and shallow entry are ideal for kids, while sunset views over the city offer a magical end to your visit.

The most beautiful sight I have seen this far. The ocean. The beach was warm and beautiful. The sand was a perfect combination of course and soft and warmth. The rocks and shells were absolutely stunning and lots of them. Took a cup of sand to remember the beauty of this place. Paid parking. Not free. Showers and restroom and water stickers available tk wash salt water off.

Beach water was a little dirty so we couldn’t go in the water. And it was a little crowded too. We spent like 2 hours sitting on the sand and then headed to amusement park for fun games.

Hidden gem of a Shore spot!!!! FREE beach access every day, large parking lot with a $2 per hour fee. Bathrooms and showers available. Just up the street is an amusement park, bar, boardwalk and water park. Not very crowded and we had beautiful weather

The beach it’s self isn’t that bad but it isn’t wonderfully great. It really depends on who you with or what you are doing. The sand was rough and the water had a lot of dead aquatic life washing ashore. I seen a few people run out the water either they where stung or bit by something. won’t repeat

Went to this beach last year, no complaints. 2025 though… came back and the water is a lot dirtier and deeper. People are riding jet skis while hustling and coming too close to shore which brings in more dirty water and bacteria. My entire family woke up 2 days later with swimmers itch or some type of rash from the water. Won’t be going back….lack of life guards and my daughter almost got hit by a man hustling people from his jet ski and that won’t stop until someone truly gets hurt!

Water is very shallow so good for kids and adults who are afraid of swimming in sea water. I have been there twice and both the times water was muddy. If you are looking for nice blue water to swim then this is not the place but beach is accessible and close by for lots of north and central Jersey people . BEWARE of the parking situation as it doesn’t have good signboards that says you have to pay . We got the parking ticket as we didn’t see any sign or parking meters nearby . They only have few all the way at the beginning and end of the lot .

Yelp
Great beach day experience with my hubby. You do not need to pay to get onto the beach. There is a boardwalk with rides, plus $10 parking, but you can also pay and pay by the hour which we did. For two hours, we laid $5.25, but $10 for a full beach day / if you're one who likes to say longer is not bad comparingly to my other experiences. The best part, is the view of the NYC Skyline in the distance! The beach is clean and well maintained and there is plenty of beach! The whole left of where we were was empty of people. I would definitely recommend if you want great views & to not have to pay for beach access!

Yelp
During the search of a free beach in NJ, I found Keansburg. I went to Ideal beach before which I love but I decided to give this one a try since it has a boardwalk. We parked a bit far from the boardwalk in a more secluded section on a Friday around 3pm. There weren't many people at the beach. Parking is paid for by purchasing a ticket and putting it on your dashboard. I think I paid $8 for a little over 5 hours. The machine only took cash so i'm glad I had some on me. The beach was a bit dirty; cigarettes, bottle caps, etc. in the sand. The water was a brownish color. Thankfully I was only going to lay on the sand which I was uncomfortable because of the sand flies. I never experienced sand flies at the beach before but it's annoying and they nick you too. The beach was okay given that it was free. Next time I have to experience the boardwalk.

Yelp
Hidden gem of a beach. People in neighboring towns still think the beach is poorly kept, so they don't visit too often. Meanwhile, because of the geography of the coastline, it's entirely possible to view both a sunrise and a sunset over the water from the same exact spot, which is extremely rare. Great view of the Verrazano Bridge and the city beyond. Parking $2 and hour paid at the meter, cash only and exact money, no change. If not paid, $40 fine.

Yelp
First timer . Beautiful beach ! Very clean and very well maintained . Water was a little dirty in the shore but as we went in, it was good . Lovely beach for a walk ! They have really good walk ways in the beach . Wish they had shower.. kids had to be taken as is , after the beach time .. parking was good but i wish they accepted credit cards ... tough to pay with cash ! Overall it was a good experience.. nice beach ...

Yelp
Not bad of a beach. We went on a weekday. There weren't many people but around 4pm the beach was getting fuller. There's so much parking you can choose from. Mostly it's meters and $2 an hour or if you go down the same road past the amusement park, you can park in a sandy for $7 (all day). Conditions were good but the beach is a little messy but bareable. It's a wonderful family beach and the tides are extremely low. There's no life guard. You get a nice view of nyc.

Yelp
I love this place. You can camp overnight , go fishing, swim, have a bbq , ride your motorboat etc. The parking cost is $2 per hour until 12 am oif Im not mistaking. No life guards thought other than that is a peacefull place

Yelp
Water is kinda gross, diarrhea color. Lots of horseflies, to be expected tho on a beach I guess. Lots of rocks. Defiantly for bay lovers and not ocean ones

Yelp
this place has an amazing sunrise view, however is full of rocks and the water is super dark, and isla if what i touched was fishes but it was definitely some thing at the bottom ,there is a lot of flies for some reason and is very empty, the neighborhood around is kinda crazy, there is asome abandoned stores the houses around look kinda Creepie
