Kebab Den

This place quite literally has the best smoothies in Bangor. I’ve been to many places around and this is by far the top. Smooth and creamy—mango is my absolute favorite! As for the food, I HIGHLY recommend the falafel, falafel wrap or the falafel and rice with salad. It is SO good!! The service here is also wonderful. They are so kind and I have not a complaint at all. I will be back again and again because this is my new favorite spot in Bangor!!

Fantastic food! Ordered the falafel wrap for myself and 2 piece chicken with fries for my mom. Came to 20$, and the portion size was well worth it! Veggies were fresh in the wrap, bread was soft and grilled nicely. Chicken was deepfried with a golden Cristy outside, soft inside. You could tell the fryer oil was clean, kudos to that as many restaurants fall short on this aspect. Fries were golden, crispy, lightly salted, and had a good mild flavour that is hard to find. Took about 15 minutes to get our food, as we can only attribute to everything being cooked fresh for our order. Highly recommend, and will return.

The Chicken kebab rice and the smoothies, both mango and strawberry were excellent. Definitely appreciate the good service too.

Love love love this place! Owner is AMAZING! Very friendly and courteous. And the food! Oh my god so good! Never had those kind of flavors but I will continue going back and supporting this business. I’ve been a handful of times, I loved everything I’ve tried! the beef gyro plate with rice and salad, falafel, lamb chops, beef shawarma and his fried chicken is so good! It is Halal. I recently visited Kebab Den and order 9 piece fried chicken, and I was impressed! The chicken was made fresh to order—none of it sat in a display, which made a big difference. The flavor was fantastic; you don't even need ketchup because it’s seasoned perfectly. Plus, it wasn't overly greasy, making it even more enjoyable. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful fried chicken that’s cooked right when you order, this is definitely the place to go! I also had Chicken Sheesh Kebab yesterday and it was good. Chicken had flavor with white rice and some lettuce. Prices are reasonable . Owner is friendly. I called amd food was ready when I get there.

Middle Eastern with American classics. Love the #2 and #3; well-seasoned meat in bothcdishes. Inside was clean, but not air conditioned, so a bit warm.

Very cozy atmosphere and great customer service. I have been waiting to find authentic food like this in Bangor for forever! I had the NYC chicken over rice and it brought me right back to the city. Thank you so much — it was delicious and I can’t wait to try the smoothies next!

Kebab Den is a cute little hole in the wall. It's small inside, but there were a few tables to sit at. We stopped by for lunch and enjoyed some kebab and gyros. Everyone enjoyed their food and it was a great price value. Thanks!

A hole in the wall with no decor. Order through the pass-through to the kitchen. Pick up food in Styrofoam containers. You can eat at one of a few rickety tables but it seems more set up for takeout Seemed like a one-man operation but he was friendly enough. Menu written on the wall but they were out 6 of the items listed. Food was actually not bad and there are not many Mediterranean restaurants in Bangor so if you don't want to go all the way down to Ellsworth to Manny's you can get decent take-out at the Den.

I'm from seattle and the gyro that I'm used to is very different that what I got from this place. The food was tasty but nothing to write home about. The interior was disheveled and it was so hot in there. We were going to eat there but decided it wasn't going to be a good experience. The food was a little bland but it was good. They took quite a while to prepare our food but they were nice.

This is a true made to order spot! In town for the week working. We were all pleased with the food and AMOUNT' served. It took a lil bit to get our meal but it was well worth the wait. Can't wait until next time..

They were out of lamb so my friend and I had the chicken kabob and the beef kabob. Both meats were very dry and overly spiced. Even though we ate in, our meals were served in styrofoam containers with plastic utensils. Care about the environment much?

The food was ok. It was a little pricey. The owner/cook was not very friendly. I was the only one in there and the interior was not really customer friendly

I don't know why this little gem hasn't been reviewed for a year, it's good. It's a little hole in the wall, unassuming great find for those not afraid to be adventurous. Fresh, great flavors and filling. Owner/ operator is a friendly guy.

Food is great everything is seasoned excellent. Best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. As far as the kebab everything is cooked perfectly and textures are on point taziki aways comes with. The beef gyro platter is a personal favorite.

Gyro wrap was tasty and loaded up. Fries were hot and crispy, Middle Eastern places know how to fry up fries. The lady at the register was very nice and I got some ingredients to make lentil soup. WinWin on a rainy day!

Very sad felafel wrap. The felafel is bland and the sandwich had a little bit of lettuce and nothing else. Most of the food is fried and greasy, without much of anything fresh. I've never had such disappointing middle eastern food before. Too bad as I was looking forward to it.

A refreshing dining experience with a friendly owner who prepared our food quickly as we waited. The menu is enormous. Outside seating is a plus. Prices are moderate.I would dine here again.

Very kind service, and yummy, fairly priced Middle Eastern influenced food! Keep in mind it's not perfectly "authentic" and I would prefer more usage of aromatics and traditional sauces. The food was excellent. It leans a bit more towards Indian than Mediterranean. But very good. Greet place to call ahead and pick up!

So to begin, the service was excellent, the food was good - but was it traditional Middle Eastern? Hmmm. I guess the restaurant did not specifically advertise being Middle Eastern, but "Kebab Den" with an oil lamp in the logo kind of hints to the expectation of Persian-influenced food. I ordered takeout - a chicken shawarma wrap, the kebab platter, an order of falafel, and the Indian Samosa. I did enjoy the food, but it was not typical of the cuisine. Th shawarma wrap was missing a crucial ingredient - the beautiful, garlicky shawarma sauce! (Also, the chicken was minced very small - normally, it is sliced into strips before it is marinated, and the thick, sweet lettuce leaves and sliced onions were absent - the mixture contained shredded carrots and cucumbers, but they seemed to be minced and sauteed with the chicken in a single pan, then wrapped) I was missing the sauce so much that I ended up making my own to eat it with. The kebab platter was decent - the little lambchop was cooked very well, and the chicken was tasty - though hardly spiced...it was all a little too mild in my opinion, but I am finding that up here in this part of the world, the food tends to be a bit bland in comparison to what I am used to. (I don't mean "heat" when I refer to spice, I mean flavor: like from mustard seeds, curry, chili, anise, cumin seeds, etc...) The salad was unusual - iceberg lettuce, cucumber, a slice of tomato - but covered in a sort of grainy tzatziki. Meh. I was expecting more a fattoush salad. The rice was great - I think I caught a hint of cardamom in it - which was nice. I wasn't a fan of the "gyro" meat - I think it was premade and then warmed from frozen. I liked the falafel - but again, I was surprised that there were no sauces served with them - normally, I am used to at least a tahini sauce as accompaniment. I eventually just dipped them into my homemade shawarma sauce. (I think that they were also frozen - they were shaped like perfect little cylinders, and they were a bit dry - but if you want falafel in Bangor, I guess they will do.) Lastly, I was surprised to see samosa on the menu at a Middle Eastern place - they were okay - but again - NO SAUCE (a tamarind or cilantro chutney would have been nice). The samosas were nicely fried, typical potato and pea filling - but, (I hate to say it again) - missing some subtlety, some aromatics. Overall, would I return? Yes. Would I call it "Traditional Middle Eastern"? Not really... It does not pack the aromatic/spiced punch of what I know to be this cuisine. (It's more of a Middle Eastern/Pakistani/American fusion) I did enjoy the wrap (though I might not call it shawarma) the lambchop, and the rice. (I'd order them again) ... I also noticed that they serve Indian/Pakistani breakfast - I might pop in for that one morning. Overall, a decent little joint for something different than pizza or burgers.

The people who run Kebab Den are super nice, professional, and attentive. The chicken shawarma wrap is a great value. The chicken Kebab is great. It would be nice if they reduced the size of the menu so they could focus on what makes them special, and give more veggies. My girlfriend is pesca and she got the shrimp with rice and unfortunately there were no veggies at all, which would be nice on one of the only pescatarian dishes on the menu.

I stopped by after a day out swimming. They are offering take-out. So, I ordered the lamb shesh kebab over rice with salad (because of course). The food was delicious and filling. The owner was very polite and friendly. I hope it stays in the area because I adore the food!!

Food was excellent , owner was very nice and The establishment was very clean We had a chicken cheesesteak and fries which were delicious ! Fries were seasoned very well. The burger was good too, a little heavy on the mayo Overall great experience, we will be back

An unassuming place with friendly staff and good food. We had the falafel and beef with rice and salad and it was generous portions. The only reason for the one star off is that I wish the food came with some condiment, maybe a sprinkle of salt and a drizzle of tahini or harissa. Maybe having some big dispenser bottles at the counter could help customers season according to their tastes. All in all it is an easy lunch stop and short detour from the highway too.

We came in here earlier and they had (I believe) just opened that day and were getting into the swing of things so we decided to come by later to see what it was all about! Today, we came here for lunch and I think this is our new favorite place for lunch. If you've ever been to Crown Fried Chicken, it's the same idea: Wonderful middle-eastern/central-asian 'fast food', some American-style fried stuff, and ice cream! What's not to love? I got the beef shawarma wrap with a side of rice and my wife got the chicken kabob with rice and salad! The rice was fragrant and delicious with whole spices in it (I counted saffron, black peppercorns, and cloves but I'm pretty sure there's cardamom in there too). The chicken kabob was charry on the outside and juicy on the inside, deliciously spiced and obviously fresh. The salad that came with my wife's food had a house-made dressing with yogurt and mint. My beef shawarma was literally the BEST shawarma I've had since I briefly lived in Austria and frequented Turkish Imbiss shops. The prices were really, really reasonable. Think 6.99 for a beef shawarma. The service was friendly and respectful without being too over-the-top, and they brought our food out to us after ordering. As a lesbian couple (one of whom is trans) I'm really happy about how we're treated here. Now that Kebab Den is in Bangor, I have one reason less to make trips to Portland. I would come here over and over and over again!

What a gem! Don't let the name fool you, they have a robust menu with something for everyone. Everything here is super tender and perfectly seasoned, especially the rice- I dont know what's in it but I could live on it. Also, their falafel is amazing, perfectly crispy outside without being dry inside or greasy. My favorite is the lamb kebab plate. All kebab plates come with a small side salad and bed of rice, generous portions of real food. The staff is always extraordinary and the resteraunt is clean and comfortable. Limited seating and parking, but take out is always a good option and the food travels well.

I was In Bangor unexpectedly about 1 month ago. I love middle Eastern food and it was right near by. I got the lamb kabob platter. It took a long time to get it even though I was the only customer at dinner time and it had less than half the pieces of lamb versus what I see in the pictures. It was also fairly dry. Loads of barely ok rice. The salad was uninteresting and you could barely tell that it was tzatziki dressing on it. I think it's more of Indian style rather than middle Eastern. Maybe other items and/or a different time with different staff would be better, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

We were on our way to Acadia National Park and got super hungry on our way. Kebab Den was a really food choice. Friendly service and amazing food. Philly Steak Sandwich is a must try. The bread is fresh and very tasty. I highly recommend it as they have delicious food at affordable prices.

I unfortunately didn't take a photograph of the Kebab Den or my lamb kebab on rice with salad. I will say that it's hard to compare what i was served to anything i have eaten before. I found that the meat of which is all i ate with the exception of maybe five bites of rice and a single bite of salad was off putting! The texture was really tender which usually is a desired thing but if you tried out how so you would see why i say it was all around not good! With limited ability to truly give a description i will tell you that the outer meat/lamb kebab texture was like a crumbly type while inside was tender but overly to the point where i just don't know what he did but that it was bad tasting! In addition to make matters worse i did find a hair, likely from his beard in my rice which is why i did not eat it! I was charged a couple dollars more than the wall menu advertised price! Believe me this in no way is pick on the working guy as i do similar work and have compassion! On good conscience though i really would not recommend this place! It was dead when i went in for my first and last time, there was hardly any place to park! Maybe this is saying something in it's own right!

This place is recommended for everyone who loves good food. The lamb chops I had here are probably the best I've had in US. The shami kebab was so good that it melted in my mouth. The host is very welcoming and such a happy person. Everything is freshly prepared and full of flavors.

Went out on a limb and tried something new. Ordered the Lamb Sheesh Kabob and was very impressed. Definitely a new favorite lunch spot since it's right down the road from work.

Chai is really good! Finally found good chai in the area. Owner is polite and friendly. Happy this place is in the area.

Extremely tasty mediterranean dishes with an indian/pakistani kick to it. The Flafel wrap is awesome and the lamb chops are moist and delicious.

Finally, a good Middle Eastern place in Bangor! Big menu, good prices and very friendly staff. I had a beef shawarma roll-up that was perfectly-cooked and very delicious. I'll be back for kebabs and more!
