"The red and green neon sign of Kebab N’Kurry, one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the Metroplex, is hard to miss. Open since 1982, Kebab N’Kurryserves classic dishes cooked inside a traditional clay oven known as a tandoor. It’s worth ordering the tandoori chicken, bone-in chicken splayed and cut in half and then marinated in spiced yogurt. Also outstanding is the chicken tikka, boneless chicken cubes marinated in the same spiced yogurt which are skewered and grilled." - Courtney E. Smith, Didi Paterno

One of the worst Indian restaurants I’ve eaten in the US. I’m of Indian origin and have travelled extensively and I’ve never experienced such pathetic taste. To add to the misery, I ordered Chilli Chicken and he brought me Kadhai Chicken and told me this is Chilli Chicken. I can tell the difference between the two from a mile and he still insisted that the Kadhai Chicken was a chilli chicken. Those of you who can tell the difference, look at the picture. That’s what he sold as Chilli Chicken!!! Total trash.

Google
Good food, generous portions, and a little higher prices than you would expect. Service was good, but a little bit slow. Roti was good and tikal tasty, but tandoori kebab was a bit too dry for my taste.

garey gaston

Google
An old favorite Indian food restaurant. Consistently good for over 40 years now for me. Muligtwany soup and chicken korma are my favorites. Everything is good though.

Matthew Blevins

Google
The food was amazing as usual! On point, authentic, cuisine. I took my love, Nahtalie, with me for our Valentines dinner. She agreed after tasting the Lamb Korma! If you haven't tried this Richardson landmark, you are missing out!

Google
The naan we ordered was burnt and tasted sour. When we talked to the manager politely about the food he blamed us and said it’s supposed to taste like that. We are Indians and we know how a garlic naan tastes like. Also he delayed our later food requests. Not going to this place again.

Toni Crook

Google
Best Indian food in "Dallas"! And the owner is so nice! He will tell you all about the food, India, anything you want to talk about. I'm not sure how they stay in business since there's never more than 5 people there for dinner. Everybody needs to eat here just in case! You won't be disappointed!

Alisha

Google
The food here is consistent always that’s the good part! The chicken C momo is my favorite and juju dhau lassi was really good. Pork tawa used to be better before!

Robin Moffett

Google
Best Indian food ever!!!!! I have been going there since the early 80's. It is privately owned...NOT A CHAIN!!-- The food is made to order not pre Fab.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I was a child, used to pick this place as my birthday dinner every year. Fast forward 30 years & I still love it & still come here. Great staff! Chicken korma is stellar here, also the vindaloo, nan bread, plus many more. I will say I don't like there tikka masala here as much as other places. Buffett daily is always a great choice 11-3p if I'm not mistaken. Mango lassie are great & recently discovered their Mango Ice Tea is AMAZING! A plus for kids or for when I was a kid is there is a window to see into the kitchen & the manager used to put a chair there and let me watch the chefs cook!

Yelp
The wife and I went here for lunch on a Sunday. I had heard from someone that this restaurant serves Nepalese dumplings and I love those so off we went. After we arrived and checked out the menu, it was clear that they do not have Nepalese dumplings so that was a disappointment. Maybe the menu changed, I am not sure. We opted for the buffet which looked decent. Some things were good. The chicken tikka masala had tender chicken a bit of a spicy kick. The other chicken dish (which was unlabeled) was also good. The peas and potato dish was good. The rice was ok. Other things were clear misses. The spinach dish tasted sour so I did not finish it. The tandoori chicken was dry and borderline tough. Some pieces of the naan bread were good but others were like piles of dough. Even the good (thin) pieces lacked flavor. There was some odd concoction called "dumplings" that were like mini-logs made of chick peas and in some kind of sauce. It was not good, as in really really horrible. They had nothing to do with dumplings at all. The buffet was $17 per person and I don't think it was worth it. We have no plans to return.

Yelp
I got Food poisoning after eating kabab, tandoori chicken and green chutney. Feels like they add some chemical thats bothering me

Leeba B.

Yelp
Went here for a lunch buffet Pros- customer service was good, ambience was also good. Cons- Not even one of their food item in the buffet was close to good. Did not enjoy at all.

M S.

Yelp
Weekday buffet was well kept, variety of items and fresh. Staff replenished foods as needed while we were dining. Tika Masala is one of my favorites and does not fail my expectations!

Yelp
Kebab n Kurty has been my go to Indian restaurant for the past 30 years. Being from Texas, I like my tea over ice, but their kashmiri tea is one of the few exceptions. I absolutely love it! The food is always delicious, which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. The service on the other hand was deplorable. After placing an appetizer order with one gentleman, my wife and I were perusing the menu when the owner came out and insisted that we put in the rest of our order immediately, saying they were about to close the kitchen (we arrived at precisely 9:07 and the restaurant is supposed to be open until 10) They did in fact prepare food for another group of patrons who came in around 9:35 but they were forced to take their food to go, although they wanted to dine in as well. Even more irksome was towards the end of the meal a waiter brought out what he said was some "extra" naan that we hadn't ordered and didn't particularly want. Lo and behold when the bill came they had charged us for it! I tried to be congenial about it, saying that I understand mistakes happen. After some grumbling, the owner did refund the price of the naan, but refused to admit that they had made a mistake in bringing it out to us in the first place. Essentially calling my wife and I liars! The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but I knew that going in. What I didn't expect was how warm it would be in the dining room. I let out a sigh of relief the moment the air conditioner finally kicked on... All too briefly! In conclusion, this might be an ok place to order pickup from, but be sure to double check your receipt!

Yelp
Open for dine-in and the lunch buffet is open. Glad to see that. Went for dinner and the food was fantastic. Order the spice level you want. Service is good. Dessert recommendation Mango Melba!

Yelp
Been going to Kebab & Kurry for 25 years. ALWAYS quality, awesome food- and stellar service. Best Indian food in Dallas!!

Casey G.

Yelp
I went for the lunch Buffett that's $15. The food was pretty solid and there were the main Indian dish staples at the buffet. The one downside would be the cleanliness of this restaurant. The table cloth was filthy and stained and the dishes left us questioning if they had been properly washed.

Gaurav T.

Yelp
Worst customer service. If owner wants to act worse with the customer then its no surprise the employees will be good.

Dan B.

Yelp
Top 10 meal ever. Yeah, that's a big statement, but true. I've been here once before for the weekday lunch buffet and loved it. This time Turtle and I brought a visiting family member for dinner. We had nan and garlic nan as appetizers. For my dinner I ordered the chicken tikka masala. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Turtle pointed out that this masala is now the measuring stick for any other masala I have. She's right...of course.

Cherie-linn N.

Yelp
I was so disappointed when I open the take out box at home and when I saw the tandoori chicken , let alone the rice I was in shock!! The chicken was totally dry, Beyond dry!! This was the worst tandoori chicken I have ever tasted, I thought let me try their tandoori chicken but was I mistaken!! I do not want to talk about the flavor!!

Amy Y.

Yelp
100% the BEST Indian food in DFW!! We drive 30 minutes to get this delicious food! The Korma and Tikka Masala are wonderful! The owners are super nice as well.

Tiffany F.

Yelp
I always try to stop by Kebab-N-Kurry when I'm in Richardson. It's the best Indian food I've had anywhere. My favorites are the navrattan korma and malai kofta, both creamy and flavorful. My husband likes the rogan josh and gulab jamun for dessert. It's BYOB, so you can save some money on alcohol. The lunch buffet has a good variety of stuff, including vegetarian options, and the service is always attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is a little retro but cozy.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Why haven't I gone here sooner? Got NYE dinner delivered tonight and it's legit. Paneer masala (I could drink the creamy spicy sauce), pakoras with mint chutney, shrimp rice pillau, keema naan and Momma is HAPPY! (Photos don't do the food justice)

Aaron M.

Yelp
The buffet had a good selection, but was not huge. They strive for quality and it shows. The owner greets everyone at the door and environment is comfy.

Taufiq H.

Yelp
Lunch buffet not bad. Wish they had fruit on there Chicken was dry. Biryani was good. Other food items ok

Guy H.

Yelp
Seems my former review disappeared? We visited this resturant looking for something different. Ive eaten here many times over the last 30 years. It used to be crowded all the time and you usually had at least a short wait. Its a small space but in the past the food has been exceptional. Our experience here was deffinitly ok. the food was tasty and the atmospher pleasant. However, for 730 on a saturday night it was dead. only 3 to 4 other tables occupied so it wasnt even half full. We ordered the lamb Korma and biriani. Bothe were tasty with a side of very nice naan. However, I would say the quality and quantity of servings is slipping from past years. There were only 5 pieves of lamb in my serving. At 18 dollars thats alittle steep for alot of rice and sauce. So Id probably go back if I wanted indian food but...

Gretchen S.

Yelp
We were the first diners that evening. The food was quite good. However, sorry to say, since we have been coming there for many years, the kitchen was absolutely filthy (the kitchen door was open and is opposite the restroom). When I saw the disgusting condition we left our food and won't be back.

Suzanne A.

Yelp
My favorite is their Chicken Tikka Masala and of course Nan. Service is always fast and friendly as well. If you can catch the lunch buffet it's a fantastic way to try lots of options if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine!

Lyssa M.

Yelp
Their butter chicken is divine, and they have the most delicious, most fragrant rice! My bf always gets the mattar paneer. We've never been disappointed!

Yannin S.

Yelp
I just visited during lunch buffet and had a pleasant experience. The ambiance is relaxing with beautiful instrumental music playing in the background. Luckily it wasn't very busy and I was able to sample the variety of curries without the small buffet being crowded; my favorite was the Palak. I observed the chef cooks dishes in small batches and he walks over to the buffet to fill empty food trays himself, straight from the pan. This place is cozy and the warm lighting is perfect to enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. As I was walking in, I saw a couple of empty pots by the windows outside, so I'm looking forward to seeing them add some rosemary or flowers. I think that would be a nice touch. Finally, after driving by this place so many times, I was able to try this restaurant. I appreciate the salad to accompany my meal and the service was very nice.

James C.

Yelp
Best Indian in dallas, most of the bad reviews seemed to be based on price. We ordered two entrees and had enough food until 2022. The service was great, place was clean, food was to die for. .

Wilson S.

Yelp
Place sucked .... I went in to eat with my sister she didnt want to eat so I ordered an entree and the waiter said two people must order at least 2 entrees. I explained she wasnt eating and he said no problem I can order one and and just pay for 2 entrees .... So we walked out and have never gone back. Great job guys....

Soham R.

Yelp
The menu is good and includes innovative items. I ordered the chicken chaat - the serving size was good, but the taste was a bit bland

Earl P.

Yelp
I've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. Mostly, we drive from downtown Dallas after calling in our order vs. eating at the restaurant. No matter how long we take get there, the order is never ready. That's not a big deal when the food is great. It used to be much better. For the two years of visits, our food quality has been hit and miss. Either the sauce is watered down and/or the chicken is dry/overcooked). The meat of the lamb vindaloo is sometimes tough and chewy. Last night we gave them another change and order a meal of several items. Aside from the other stuff ordered, instead of a full entree of chicken tikka masala, I asked to buy a container of the tikka masala sauce. However, the gentleman on the phone said the sauce cost more than the chicken and I had to pay the same price as the full entree. We said "okay" because we love the sauce (when it's made well) and had extra Christmas money. Well, the sauce was again watered down. For our Lamb vindaloo, we got a lot of meat and hardly any sauce (maybe they gave it for the no chicken tikka). The scant amount of sauce was watered down for the vindaloo and there was a lot of potatoes. The lamb was like rubber. We understand the pandemic has impacted service and resources, but this declined started as far back as 2018. Maybe there was a change in management or ownership? I can find closer Indian restaurants, but I was trying to stick to this one to be loyal. I won't go back again.

Preethy B.

Yelp
Me and my family came to eat lunch at Kebab-n-Kurry around 1:30 on Sunday. This place was suggested by our friends. We walked in for buffet and most of the food was finished. The food was average and so was the customer service. If you have the place open and expect people to pay for the food then have courtesy to serve food. The place was empty and only one person was inside finishing his lunch when we walked in so it's not like the place was busy. We had to tell several times the owner to give us Naan. The plates were dirty and we had to ask for more clean plates. Overall it was a bad experience and will not be going back.

Henry H.

Yelp
I've been coming to Kebab n Kurry for years. I do remember the food being a bit better some years ago. The food is decent, ( americanized I would say) however other Indian places in the area serve the similar dishes for better prices ( although I would consider these to be "hole-in-the-wall" type places). The buffet includes chicken tikka masala, chicken boti, chana masala, palak paneer, naan, raita masala, rice pudding, among other popular dishes, except biryani. I would give them 3.5 stars, but don't have that option. If your looking for a mild introduction to Indian food or a place to bring someone to try Indian food for the first time, this is the perfect place.

Steven R.

Yelp
I can't put my finger on what it is about this place that I liked so much, but I think it's the people. I like that when I walk in, the first thing I see is the owner and/or manager smiling and saying, "welcome back." There's a sincerity about this guy that I appreciate: a feeling that he is genuinely excited by and thankful for each customer that comes in. There was a small mix-up with my takeout order that resulted in my getting the wrong food, but the restaurant was very apologetic and quick to handle the issue. I had my correct food shortly thereafter, in addition to a couple free dishes that were now mine to keep due to their mistake. It's not a great thing to have had happen, but they were very apologetic and it's understandable that mistakes like these can happen once in a while. The food was really nice. The alu paratha was nice, and it also reheats in the toaster really well after being stuck in my fridge for a few hours. We also had a kadhai paneer and a bhuna gosht, both of which came out great. I eat Indian food frequently and found the quality to be comparable to what I would expect at a nice Indian restaurant. Overall the experience didn't disappoint and I do think K&K is worth a visit.

Yelp
Stopped by to check out the lunch buffet (based on recommendation by a friend). The price of the lunch buffet ($10.99) was not posted anywhere. The buffet was supposed to run until 2:00pm. Arrived a little after 1pm. It took a few minutes to be seated at a clean table, which was surprising because the place was mostly empty. Selection: Buffet selection is smaller than other Indian buffets in the area. Food was almost gone and not replenished. There was no more veg biryani left when I went back for my 2nd plate and they ran out of naan soon after. Also, there was no gulab jamun available from the dessert selection. Upon inquiry the owner offered to replenish the gulab jamun (but with 5-7 minute wait time). Unfortunately didn't have time to wait for it. Taste: Dishes were of ok quality - some hit/miss - but nothing to rave about. Chicken tandoori was a bit dry, but the chicken tikka masala was tender and flavorful. They serve beef (which is a bit uncommon for an Indian place) and the beef vindaloo was tasty. Service: A bit slow and lacking. Repeatedly had to ask server for water refills. Also noticed the table beside me didn't get drinks until after they started their meal. Friendly owner stopped by to check-in on the tables individually at end of meal. Noticed a group come in close to 2pm and he offered to replenish some dishes for them. Would have appreciated if the buffet had just been replenished earlier! Bottom Line: Decent food for value, but service and selection was a bit lacking. Unsure if would return.

A. Laura M.

Yelp
Love this place great fresh hot tasty Indian food. I extremely recommend it rather it's durning lunch or dinner time hours. The best Indian food place in DFW.

Francesca B.

Yelp
We hadn't been in about 6 months or more but decided to return for an easy family dinner. The atmosphere is dingy and dark but the food and byob make up for it. Just as we were deciding in our order, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed movement in the carpet. At the corner of our table. To my surprise and horror, it was a RAT! The RAT moved a little from the main dining room to the side room and it was under a nearby table. The manager and a few kitchen staff were there trying to figure out what to do next. We got up and left abruptly and never saw what happened next. I guess we will never know since Kebab n Kurry is officially off of our list! BTW, I don't know why this app makes you give at least one star because in my mind having rats in the restaurant does not warrant any stars!

Amanda S.

Yelp
Super authentic and tasty Indian food! My only qualm is that it is a bit overpriced. They do have a good buffet but again, overpriced for what it is. I'd stop by here for sure if you want some tasty Indian food and its nearby. I wouldnt drive lengths and boundaries to eat here though.

Kristy L.

Yelp
This is our absolutely favorite Indian restaurant in all the metroplex. The food is amazing. And the service is spot on!!!!!

Eddie C.

Yelp
This place is good, but grossly overpriced IMHO. Had a sudden craving for some Indian food, so I thought I would give this place a shot. I glanced over the menu and settled on the Chicken Anarkali. I did like that you get the option for mild, medium, or hot, because not all of my friends can handle the heat. Since I was by myself though, I got the hot. The dish is chicken thigh meat served in a tradional curry sauce. It had good flavor and just the right amount of spice that I am looking for in Indian food. It also comes with bismati rice. If I were just rating on the food and service, this place gets an easy 4 stars. But knowing how restaurants work (when it comes to food costs and what price to charge), I just thought $13.95 was a little steep for chicken thigh meat and rice. For that reason, I give it three stars, and I probably would not return, as I know other places in the area where I can get the same quality of food for a lot less.

Charlene G.

Yelp
Nice buffet, food very fresh but standard fare. They did have a delicious goat curry which had the perfect amount of spice. The raita was very tasty and the chicken tandoori was tender. So many places cook it too long so it is very dry, but not here. Service was a little slow, especially since we were only one of three tables. Decor is simple but you go there for the food not the decor.

Saira R.

Yelp
We ordered through Uber eats and the food was a disaster, the tikka Masala tasted so chemically it couldn't be eaten. Sad to see that you can charge so much and provide so little. Even the bread wasn't made right.

Erin M.

Yelp
Been going to Kebab & Kurry for 25 years. ALWAYS quality, awesome food- and stellar service. Best Indian food in Dallas!

Tina T.

Yelp
Service was good, so my review and reasoning for awarding this place a mere two-stars is strictly food-related. I came during the lunch rush, and was thoroughly unimpressed with the buffet offerings. Firstly, the buffet was $12.95 before taxes, and nothing on the table was something that looked cravable. I have never tried overly-doughy naan until I visited this place. Tandoori chicken was tough! However, vegetarian options are pretty good. Still sad I picked this place over Kirin Court, when I was in the area. Oh well lol.

Brad N.

Yelp
Another case where the five star scale is too limiting; I'm calling this 2.5 stars, but I'm sorry, I can't round up. From the reviews, I think this place may be a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing (lunch vs. dinner). I've only been here twice, both times at lunch, and that's what my review is based on. The buffet is small, but has decent variety. Unfortunately, as others have said, the food is a little blah. When the vindaloo is the same heat level as the tikka masala, something's wrong. I also echo the "WTF is potato doing in chicken tikka masala" sentiment; that was odd. None of the dishes really stood out to me, yet none were terrible, either. They just kind of blended together, both on the plate in in my mind. The naan was OK, but not great. They did have some naan that had a bit of filling (peas and something else); that was one of the best "dishes" (not sure what that says about the place). Service was decent until it came time for the checks; they were a bit slow with these, and people were streaming in, waiting for tables, and if they'd have just brought us our checks faster, our party of seven would have vacated much quicker. Maybe I'll try dinner here sometime, but both of my lunch experiences (at least a year or more apart) were just "meh".

Michael M.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, mixed vegetable curry, naan, and basmati rice are top notch. Excellent service. AJ, the owner, learns his customers quickly. He truly loves serving great food and making customers happy. Entrees are a few dollars more expensive than most other Indian restaurants. However, this restaurant serves slightly larger portions, and of course, the difference in quality is well worth it. And as with any Indian restaurant, dinner is much better than the buffet. Bravo!

A J.

Yelp
First time eating Indian food in a long time. Loved the flavors and assortment offered here. Great taste and the owner is wonderful. Making sure everyone is satisfied and throwing in some humor along the way.

Finny B.

Yelp
Took my enter family after Sunday service to this place, based upon the recommendations of friends and Yelp. I am Indian, so it really is hard to go to Indian restaurants and compare it to the ones my friends and families have cooked their entire life. To be short, when we arrived a little after 1 pm, there was exactly one person eating. Then we headed to the buffet line and notice it was small and cramped. For example, their Naan is stuck in the corner between their desert stand. You literally had to contort yourself to get some naan. When I finally arrived at the naan, and lifted the sheet over it, to my surprise there wasn't any naan. How can you run out of naan when there is only one person eating. Anyways we told the lady that we needed some naan and then we continue on getting the food. The vegetarian biryani was burnt, jeera rice was good, daal and the remnants of the kofta was good. But the rest of the food really sucked, and it was too salty. The kofta item was delicious, however there wasn't even enough for one person, forget enough for a Sunday buffet. When they finally did bring naan out, it was burnt outside yet still doughy in the inside. The tandoori chicken has a good level of spice, but it tasted too salty. The Gulab Jamun looked like baby grapefruits. It shouldn't be that big and doughy. I didn't even touch kheer, just looking at it's sad nature in the buffet line. I really hate to write any reviews much less negative reviews, but when you get home and 5 out of the 6 people complain of being sick, I need to let people know to take their money somewhere else. My family and I will never come back here again.

Shawnte M.

Yelp
Hidden gem for Indian Buffets! This restaurant is location within a strip mall so it's so easy to overlook. Apparently it's been around for over 20 years! It's a small shop where the owner literally greets you and guides you to your seat. As with any Indian restaurant they have both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Their food isn't as spicy as a lot of Indian food which may be good for most people although I missed the spice. It is for that reason that they got 4 stars instead of 5. Expect really great beef curry! They're Naan is pretty good and made fresh. They have super tasty chicken Tikka masala. Overall great experience. I'll be back!

Rebecca J.

Yelp
Very rude service we had gone to India West years back and they tried to make it seem as if it was a 5 star restaurant but I found a roach once on the bread basket never went back. Came here last weekend and to my understanding it is the same owner. Well, that explains the roaches in the restroom... very disappointed! Never going back! Employees don't even care you complaining!

Dana W.

Yelp
One of the best kept secrets in Dallas area. My husband is from the area and has been eating there for years, and whenever we visit from Missouri we always go at least once. The service is good, the food is great, and the owner is ALWAYS THERE and visits with each and every guest. I can't wait to visit again.

Tom M.

Yelp
This place is great. They have a Chana Masala that makes my mouth water just thinking about it for this review. I'm strictly vegetarian, but can take friends there regardless of diet. Their lunch buffet has a great mix of foods. Service is always fast and very attentive

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
OMG! We had chicken korma, beef curry and chicken tikka masala. All so very good and delicious!!! BYOB. Do not expect your meal right away. It is all made fresh to order and so worth the wait!!

Val J.

Yelp
An "oldie but goodie": the original DFW Indian joint my husband & I started coming to when dating 15 yrs ago... One of the few places that makes dishes as spicy as ** I** like 'em, and very generous portions mean I have leftovers for lunch the next day!
