Yelp
I love me a good Irish Pub and luckily Keegan's has three locations on the West/NW side of the city for me to pop into when I need to feel at home with my fellow red bearded brethren!
This particular Keegan's is located in the Ridenour area of Kennesaw, which sits on Ernest Barrett Parkway in a small shopping plaza that features a sushi spot, running store and few other small businesses. For reference, it is located across from Popeye's, Flying Biscuit and QT. The other locations of Keegan's are in Woodstock and Vinings.
With this location being in a small shopping center that is shared with another busy restaurant, parking can come at a premium. You may have to get creative if you come on a busy evening. I know people who have parked at the nearby apartment complexes front office, after hours of course, and walked over. If you want that Irish whiskey along with those bangers and mash, you will find you a way.
Speaking of bangers and mash, the food here is decent. About 90% of my visits have only been for beers and appetizers, but I did have said bangers and mash on one visit and while I wasn't blown away, I didn't regret my order. The sausage was a little tough for me, I am used to a casing, but this was the actual sausage that was tougher than I am used to. The gravy was good and perfect for the mash. It was actually needed, as the potatoes were pretty plain and needed a little more seasoning. But, nothing the table salt/pepper couldn't fix.
As for appetizers, my favorite has been the Irish Spring Rolls. They are definitely more egg roll than spring roll, but now we are splitting red hairs. Either way they are a perfectly fried wonton of corned beef, cheese and cabbage sided with the essential 1000 island. We have also had the Keegan chips and nachos. The chips are great as they are served warm and crispy topped with blue cheese. You can add buffalo chicken and bacon if you want...and now thinking back, I am not sure why we didn't. Smh. The nachos were basic bar nachos. Nothing to highlight, but nothing to complain about either.
Outside of the items listed above, their menu does feature a wide variety of dishes from burgers, salads, wings, soups, sandwiches, sides, desserts and of course a few house specialties such as fish and chips and shepherd's pie. The drink menu is equally expansive with cocktails, coffee drinks and a healthy variety of beers. While I will admit to having a pickle back every now and then, my go to here and most Irish spots is a good Smithwicks or Snakebite.
Service has always been solid here. We have sat in the booths in the bar area each of our visits, with the exception of the patio one time. Each visit, the service is friendly, timely and on point.
Overall, Keegan's is a solid spot that I really enjoy. I am in Kennesaw often and live near Vinings, so I hit those two locations up on the regular. I guess I need to check the Woodstock location soon!
