This is an Indian Grocery Store Pro Max. I came all the way from College Station to Houston to shop for groceries here. If you are a frequent shopper, they offer a membership and you can sign up for free. The store is nearly organised and I found Indian vegetables at economic prices. Watch out for Diwali sales that they have right now..

Google
My favorite Indian Store and a place I’ve been going to for more than 6 years now. The store offers a huge variety of Indian products, veggies etc. also some fresh snacks available in few occasions. Definitely worth visiting. They also offer membership to get points every time you make a purchase. Plenty of free parking available in front of the store.

I came to Keemat Grocers to do a quick tea shopping. The store was well stocked to variety of teas and fresh produce. Service was fast. I will be back for rice next time.

Google
Best Indian grocery store in Houston. Absolutely love that they bring Indian mangoes in the summer.

Prasenjit Ghosh

Google
Probably the best Indian restaurant in Houston. They offer 100% authentic Indian delicacies. Their quality of food is mostly amazing! You must try their Sev Puri & Masala Dosa.

I am a loyal customer of Keemat almost 2 years now but lately noticed they started showing negligence towards customers. They weigh the veggies incorrectly at times and incorrect pricing of products at the billing counter. We always have to double check the bill to make sure they haven’t incorrectly billing us. We hardly give returns until there is some issue with the product but they deny it. Visited Pariwaar and Vishala and they are offering more fresh veggies and reliable service over Keemat. It’s time they focus on customer service and train their billing persons to make sure there is no place for errors. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Google
The have a wide selection of stuff that they carry for some and not so much for others. It didn't seem to me that there was much variety for dhals. And they don't have price stickers on everything which is kind of inconvenient. But otherwise the store is clean and we'll laid out. They have a rewards program where you get $20 off for every $1000 spent I believe. Oh and sometimes, the lines are too long for a store this size.

I appreciate that this store has the availability of items. I have found the value is also reasonable. It was super clean.

Yelp
This review is about the pop-up pizza booth that was set up in Keemat a while ago. Technically review does not pertain to Keemat, but this is where I purchased it so writing here. The Himalayan Delight frozen pan pizza sold for$5 each . We got two pizzas one was Tez Mex and the other was baby corn and I am a big fan of corn on pizza. It was really easy to get it ready, it was just ' throw into oven for 15 min' simple. The Tez Mez was actually the more spicier one so more appealing to an Indian palette but both pizzas were good. Its true, it cannot beat a freshly made pizza but it came decently close. Both came with sachets of Italian herbs and red chili flakes for additional flavoring but I have to say they had quite enough flavor of their own. I wouldn't mind having more of these pure vegetarian pizzas stored in my freezer for unannounced visits.

Yelp
I came to this Keemat Grocery on Hillcroft during Diwali weekend. I found it convenient to shop here. Parking was not an issue for me. Employees didn't bother me. Which is perfectly fine with me. I shop at my own pace. Bought a jar of yogurt and some Indian teas. I bought a tulsi candle set. They burned out so quickly and I didn't get a chance to take a picture with it. The produce section and rice selection were plenty. It was a nice place to get a quick grab.

Yelp
Over priced store. Some items are priced as twice as sold at Parivaar grocery store which is 0.3 miles away from this store. Some of the items are beyond their expiry yet they are sitting in the shelf. Check the dates in case you end up shopping at this store.

Merul B.

Yelp
Super expensive store. We just moved from Boston and due to the Google ratings bought the groceries from here. Not just one item but all the items are overpriced. We went to another store a few weeks later just to find out that it was only Keemat Grocers and not with all the shops. Not only that, they shelve expired items too. Make sure to check the expiry date if you shop here. Plenty parking available nearby

Yelp
I had recently tried mango pickles and I really wanted to buy some so my friend took me here to get spices and find those delicious pickles. It's a little hard navigating at first but there's so much to look at. They had everything we needed and the employees were helpful. Will be back to try some other new things.

Benny Z.

Yelp
Dingy and dirty. Completely unkept. No way would I want to eat anything that came from here. I walked in and was overwhelmed by bad smell that I could not get accustomed to and then began to see the cause: the filth. Stay away.

Yelp
Last week we moved to Houston and got a few recommendations as to where to buy desi spices. We got there on Keemat Grocery on Saturday afternoon. This place is spotless and well organized, but the front desk service could be better and kind. Since we went the first time so couldn't find certain things the once suppose to be with other stuff, but somehow they scattered throughout their products. Their employees were working in the aisles, which is understandable, but since during Covid you were expecting they will give us space or social distance so we can check few products, but they didn't move aside, and we decided to leave that area. Also, I notice they like to promote only a few brands, and when you ask them, their reply was, we have other brands if I want to buy certain things. I wish they can have more variety of different types of products to be more convenient for all of us. For example, a significant area filled with Gopi yogurts, and that's all my choice for Yogurt. This store is substantial, and I am sure they can add more variety. Please ask your employees to give some space to the customers during COVID time and work on your customer service, please!!! Thank you

Yelp
Bought 'Fresh Hot Roti 10 pack' from this store. Opened the packet and found atleast 5 of them had mold on them. Puts a whole new twist on the meaning of 'Fresh Hot'. Should have guessed when the Fresh Hot Roti 10 pack packet didnt have any best by/fresh until/hot until date on it. This was my first and will be my last trip to this store.

Yelp
Keemat has all the Indian masalas and snacks that I love. They even carry Nadru in their frozen section that's a typical Kashmiri favorite. I get my karela (Indian bitter gourd) and Curry leaves from here too. They've got it all! I'll agree with others that the staff can seem a little disconnected sometimes but I've never had a bad experience - frequently they have smiled and answered all my questions to the point. Overall this has become my go-to place and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for Indian groceries.

Akriti P.

Yelp
This place needs to provide better customer service. The lady in the front counter is very rude. She needs to learn to be polite with customers. also, the fruits and vegetables they have are not fresh. Never coming back again!

Gloria L.

Yelp
Staff is unfriendly, robotic, and indifferent. I Purchased some items and was charged $12.99 for a small tub of cheese, that I usually get at much lower price. Asked clerk to check the price, because there were 2 size tubs for this product. She scanned both and both scanned for the same price. Obviously, there was a price coding error and I was charged the higher price. When I asked her if I could take the larger one instead, she refused to exchange it.

Pia S.

Yelp
I am quiet surprised to see bad reviews for Keemat out here because I really like Keemat. Its such a friendly grocery store. I like the simplicity it has and really enjoy coming here to get my indian masalas. I also love them because they carry nepali masalas and noodles here and its such a blessing. I do however dislike their cilantros. Have decided never to buy them from here. Everything else is great otherwise.

Payal D.

Yelp
Extremely dirty and waste of time, when it comes to collection of grocery items one is looking for. In addition, low quality produce ensures you're getting only the pickins that even cattle would reject. stay away and take your money elsewhere.

Ankit K.

Yelp
Pack of curry leaves have dead roach inside. When shown to owner he was in state of don't care mode. Fungus on ginger. Roaches moving inside store even on billing counter

Mohan I.

Yelp
Saw bad reviews on this place but decided to go in anyways. I can say that this place is pretty good for indian groceries. You can't expect them to be like HEB or whole food when it comes to looks, but they carry lots of indian vegetables and supplies as good as few stares that are in Oak tree in NJ.

Neha D.

Yelp
Never thought my first review would be for a grocery store! But here I am, trying to defend my GO-TO place for my Indian grocery shopping :P :) Yes, I was compelled to write this review after reading the overly harsh comments written before me, but No, my opinions are no way swayed by them. So here it is, After having tried all the Indian stores in the Hillcroft area, I've zeroed in on this place simply because they have the widest collection when it comes to groceries or spices or any other Indian household purchases. (for instance, they carried fresh methi (fenugreek) while no other store had it, and during Diwali, they had the widest variety of rangoli colors). And they definitely are reasonably priced. I am not sure about the past, but currently this store is more popular than you would imagine and therefore their turnover is good, resulting in fresh produce every time we go there. Plus, every week I see many new (and good) products being introduced here than other similar outlets in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful and my experience so far says, I am happy with this place! Update (June 2013): We've recently discovered a new Indian grocery store which opened recently, so we no longer frequent Keemat. But my best to the Keemat team.

Anuj A.

Yelp
Keemat is my one-stop shop for Indian groceries. They carry a variety of different brands for Indian snacks, spices, frozen foods, and beverages you would've never heard of! They also carry a rare Indian lime/lemon soda called Limca, owned by Coca Cola! Do get yourselves a glass bottle for about a dollar, you won't regret it. They recently stopped selling my favorite Instant Indian Tea mix, and I have to go to Patel Brothers to get it, but thats not a big issue. The two ladies usually at the checkout register are very friendly, too!

Aditi M.

Yelp
Three stars are for their produce section. The veggies are good. Daals are not good in taste n I don't understand why they don't keep Swad. Pani puris I got was not expired but it had wired smell.

Sonal S.

Yelp
Amazing place! Best hot food kitchen and all kinds of Indian groceries. All the staff is so friendly and professional. I stop by at the store twice a week.

Aditi G.

Yelp
I'm only writing this review because of the staff. They have rude staff and that's probably why the bad reviews. I went there today with family to get some groceries. I had to use their restroom which were not clean but sufficed to go in. Usually I avoid public restrooms and don't like to use them too often but u got to do what you got to do when nature calls I guess. I'm a cancer patient and undergoing treatment so I've to use the restrooms a lot lately which kind of is embarrassing as is but it gets worse when one of their employees keeps pushing on the handle the whole time and being sarcastic and telling my mom I think she is sleeping in there. Like jeez way to go making your customers feel embarrassed. I wasn't even in there for long maybe a minute and a half or two to the max. And also when I left I apologized and she just gave me an attitude and Nasty look. I usually don't like to give bad reviews unless needed but this didn't really sit well with me so had to write about to. Definitely not going back there again for sure.

Jahnabi C.

Yelp
They are clean and well organized. I can get almost any of my Indian groceries from here. They have good collection of spices, snacks and Indian vegetables. Additionally, they often have some good deals on vegetables. Recently I got 4 lemons for $1 and 6 limes for $1, and the lemons and limes were in perfect condition too (as opposed to several deals that giveaway stale/expired stuff). Keep an eye on their store deals.

Zachary C.

Yelp
Great variety, friendly service, clean and always am able to find the unique items i'm looking for - definitely recommend going here for the quality and cost.

Vicky C.

Yelp
I found a lot of stuff that I don't know I wouldn't have otherwise found at HEB for a recipe I found online. It was pretty clean too!

Sana M.

Yelp
This has now become my go-to store for all the South Asian spices and snacks that I need. They are always well-stocked and there is a fresh produce section which stops me from having to make a separate trip to HEB for a few potatoes and okra. The staff is always there to help me when I can't find what I'm looking for!

Brandt T.

Yelp
My favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere and the great spice selection. The selections are wonderful and the service has won me over. I highly recommend this location. I read online that Anthony Bourdain stopped by this location recently which helped confirm to me that my interest and appreciation of this place is valid.

Aarti G.

Yelp
Keemat Grocers is my go to store for all my Indian grocery needs! Great prices and extremely helpful staff. I was able to find my favorite Indian cookies there that I haven't been able to find at any other store!

Lois S.

Yelp
Great selection, but the employees are so unfriendly. I'm Indian, but the staff still treats me like some sort of invasive species. I go there because they have the spices I need, but I'm searching desperately for another place because they're so, so mean.

Yelp
Tight competition for the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN HOUSTON. The service was barely acceptable until served by a lady with spectacles and a helper with spectacles (don't know their names). Horrible attitude (don't know what for) and go and @shop somewhere else mentality. This cashier made us to lift the heavy sack of rice on the table so that she can scan it, anyone else would use a handheld scanner and do scan from the trolley. WATCH OUT FOR EXPIRED FOOD ITEMS. Spend a minute to look for expiry date before you pick packed food items if at all the pack has a printed date on it. We got spoiled food a few times, some where expired some not. THE FOOD IS NOT CHEAP AFTER ALL THESE. They price most items bit higher than other Indian stores. We stopped shopping here after last days unprofessional service from the old lady cashier in spects and the helper in spects. They crushed the vegetables and dumped the items senselessly and laughed at as when we rearranged vegetables in one bag and frozen in another bag. Good luck with this horrible service if you go to Keemat.

Michael V.

Yelp
Great shop with tons of yummy eats! Highly recommended that you stop by and check it out. Super friendly staff and great selection of products.

S D.

Yelp
This is the only grocery store I will go to on Hillcroft. The store is clean and kept well. They carry a lot of items that are usually quite difficult to find elsewhere. And their prices are reasonable. Shop here!

Surya P.

Yelp
Not clean at all. They keep expiry items. We have to return rice twice as it has worms.

Lakshmi R.

Yelp
I give 2 stars just for the variety of groceries and spices. One must keep a wide eye to look for expired food products. Recently I got whole wheat rotis from keemath ( had not date of expiration) . Two days after purchase (while in the freezer all this while) I open to see it filled with fungus mold. Disgusting. Will never buy products at this place.

Ehsan H.

Yelp
Awesome grocery store. Reasonably priced groceries and clean store. I usually come to worse this location or the one in Sugar Land.

Samuel G.

Yelp
be aware!! yes, keemat grocery has everything that we need but !!! during holiday sale beware of these place. they put merchandise in sales and still charge regular price. check your receipt very carefully. when i went to show them they were like it is not our fault....then whose fault is it? oh may be its mine i shop there.'''''idiots""" other than these this place is good :) check your receipt twice for price charged. specially when it sayd buy one get one free, buy two get one free...cheaters..........

Yelp
*******PLEASE PRICE TAG YOUR PRODUCTS, REMEMBER THEY ARE FOR SALE !!!!******* I have been going to this store for a few years and I think it is time I gave a review. 1. The Good. The store has a decent variety of Indian products for its size. 2. The Bad ( Mentioning in the hope that things will improve) 1. Very Importantly, the items in the store are way way overpriced. I would Give a $$$$ for cost vs quality. I will give you two recent examples. 1. Nanak small pack Rasamalai (about $6). Tasted like some artificial malai with absolutely no taste- but then again it is the manufacturer's fault however they can do quality control on what they sell at the store. 2. Frozen vegetables that too carrot and peas 2lb for $5. Give me a break. 3.The most NOTORIOUS thing about this store is 75% of the items have NO PRICE TAG. If the fastest selling stores in America like the Walmart can label their product I don't think this store has any excuse. Frankly I think it is even illegal to trade this way. 4. Shelves are overstuffed and items are all mixed up in some areas. I have had to go to the counter several times to do price checks. I hope they are not hoping that once at the counter, "the customer will buy the item anyway". Remember, even if they do this to save their pride they wont do it twice. Also it leaves a bad taste in their mouth. I am not angry I am not mad, I am hoping that the management will take note and improve on these points so that they can continue to remain in business. Please remember this, you are primarily supported by Indians and Indians are largely price sensitive customers, you will do well to lower the prices and do volume sales.

Soniya S.

Yelp
We bght a hair color, which is a product from India...(pic posted) When we came home and looked for the expiry date It showed it was manufactured in 2008 and best to be used after 3 years Its 2013 now And they covered all that information by sticking a white paper that says 'product of India' Shame on them Once a while they lure customers in by giving away free crappy pani puri Wats the point when u dont sell good stuff BEWARE Buyers There are many better indian stores out there..!!

Purav P.

Yelp
Fantastic selection and great customer service! I go to keemat every time I'm in the area!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh and reasonably priced produce, spices, and yummy snacks, this is the place to be! The whole experience was great - great prices, great produce and snacks, and friendly and helpful staff!

Sheila H.

Yelp
Love this place! Saw Anthony Bourdain when he was in town! Always able to find what I need and more. Love that it's clean too!

Arun A.

Yelp
Beware of this place and be sure to check the expiry date of packaged goods before you buy. Not only do they sell expired stuff, they erase/modify the printed Expiry Date. When I showed this to the store manager, I was told it is the distributer's fault for sending expired goods! You don't want to buy food from a guy who thinks he is not responsible for selling expired goods. I'll not be going back ever again.

Divya P.

Yelp
Love Keemat! The Hillcroft location is super convenient for Indian groceries - they have a huge selection and lots of fresh produce. And the staff is always friendly, which is a nice bonus :)
