6 Restaurant Openings to Get Excited About in Portland, April 2025 | Eater Portland

"Opened April 7, occupying a two-story spot in the former Milwaukie city hall and fire station at 10722 SE Main, Milwaukie. The location offers pastries and savory breakfast options and represents the company's second location in Milwaukie." - Dianne de Guzman

Love this Keeper Coffee location in historic downtown Milwaukie. The staff were super nice and friendly. Both the cafe and matcha lattes tasted great. And the latte art was awesome. They also serve both sweet and savory food. Beautiful space with downstairs, upstairs, and outdoor seatings. Very relaxing atmosphere. Two thumbs up!

Google
New favorite coffee shop. Adorable. Cutest interior. Beautiful area outside too for seating. Haven't had any food because I don't consume sugar, gluten or dairy, so no go, but the lattes are very good. HOT, not warm, and I want my hot drinks hot so thank you for this, and they have Oatly so I drive 30+ minutes to come here for coffee. It's worth it. Once I got the wrong coffee and I've had to wait a while on a couple of very busy occasions but for the ambience I'll drive out here. 🩷

Nice menu. Good bakery items. Teas are good but not properly served. They should give you an additional small pitcher / glass to off load ALL your tea with each infusion. Otherwise, tea oversteeps in the tea leaves while you’re having the first cup. Subsequent pours are over steeped, bitter, too strong. I must say the Shakshuka was awful. Way too heavy on concentrated tomato, too few greens and egg yolks overcooked and hard.

Keepers in Milwaukie is a great place in a lovely location. On a weekday noon, it was busy but not overly so. Coffee was great, as was the granola and yogurt we ordered. The staff is friendly, helpful, and highly professional. I’ll certainly return!

Google
Keeper Coffee’s new Milwaukie location is just as charming and inviting as their original spot in SE Portland. I had a latte and a slice of their gluten-free cake both were delicious! The coffee was smooth and well-balanced, and the cake was moist and flavorful. The space is cozy with a clean, welcoming vibe, and there’s outdoor seating too, which makes it even better for sunny mornings or relaxed meetups. A great addition to the neighborhood!

Google
A great new addition to downtown Milwaukee. I’ve been a few times now and service is consistently great and food / beverages are delicious. Plenty of seating inside, upstairs, and outside on a nice day. Chai latte, turkey sandwich, zucchini bread, and their homemade (?!) chips are all recommended.

Very sweet little space, great coffee, friendly staff, good food. Came back a few days in a row. Enjoy the vibe, non-coffee options and pastry selection too! Love the outdoor seating option.

This location recently opened in this cute neighborhood; great place to walk around with your coffee. It’s very room and love the vibe/design of this place (seating both upstairs, downstairs and outside/patio too). I wasn’t that impressed with the mocha it was just okay (a little on the $$$ side). The rhubarb pastry/pop tart with the frosting on top was epic. Their baked goods are on point definitely grab one (have a huge selection). I wish they’d offered to heat it up it’d tasted even better. I’d maybe try a pour over or drip on another visit (pretty much $20 for a coffee and pastry seems a little high maybe I am wrong). Definitely a coffee shop worth checking out..

Yelp
New fave coffee shop! We drive half an hour across the city to get here because 1. their coffee is really good 2. it's HOT, not warm, but HOT which is what my husband and I want when we order hot drinks 3. they offer my favorite oat milk OATLY, and 4. this place is adorable, inside and out - cute cozy interior, beautiful redbrick renovated premises and a lovely green outdoor space with trees, benches, chairs etc. We've enjoyed brief conversations with some of the people here; families hanging out in the sunshine with their drinks and their kids, kind staff members and couples we've shared tables with from time to time. The atmosphere, so far, has always been pleasant, and I've already made several future 'coffee dates' with many of my friends who are excited to check the place out. Looking forward to it.

Yelp
Large gorgeous space. I absolutely love that I didn't have to pap for parking, and that there was such a large number of parking spots right outside. That's SO rare in the PDX area so I was grateful for that. My chai was really nice, and had a nice little kick to it. They had some nice sounding food options, but the prices were insanely high so I didn't try them out this time. They claim that the prices are that high because they don't do tips...idk. The pastry case was loaded with delicious looking pastries and my friend who was with me said hers was delicious, so I'll definitely try it next time. If you can, avoid going at peak times. Even though they have loads of seating, I had to wait a while for a place to sit and the line was all the way outside and down the wheelchair ramp. Overall super cute, very popular, very spendy cafe.

Yelp
First of all, this location is beautiful. The inside and the outside are so cute. There is, however, pretty limited seating in the downstairs, especially if you go on the weekend. We waited in a line that was out the door and were not able to find anywhere to sit, the upstairs seating was not accessible to us due to mobility reasons. The chai with the harvest moon syrup was delicious. The food was also quite good, albeit a bit expensive. I would probably try to go back on a weekday if possible next time.

Yelp
I have so many nice things to say about Keeper Coffee. This was my first time here and I love the ambiance inside. There are local goods available for purchase and there's so much seating available. I went to the counter and asked for a recommendation for a syrup to go in an iced matcha. Right now they have a seasonal, fresh strawberry syrup and they layered it so beautifully in my matcha. I gave it a quick stir and absolutely loved it. The fresh, fruity flavor of the syrup pairs so well with the grassy, matcha flavor. The servers/baristas were all so nice, as well. I will say that the drinks felt a little expensive, but fair among coffee shops of the same caliber in the area. You come here for great quality and handmade flavors. I'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
Twice in 24 hours tells the story. The space is absolutely beautiful, tastefully modeled from its City Hall roots but casually sumptuous. The food and pastries are exquisite. Standard coffee offerings. Tons of seating upstairs, with lovely woodwork and a downtown view. I'm a bit confused on pricing: things are a bit pricy, but I thought you weren't supposed to tip - and yet there's a tip jar. Not sure what the protocol is, since there's no tip line when you charge

Yelp
I just got iced cold brew coffee. It was delicious. My mama got the latte pictured here. She said it was the best latte she has ever had. The heart was such a huge plus! We wanna know how to do it!! The staff members are really nice as well. Super cute little place.

Yelp
Cannot tell you how happy I am to find such a high end bakery/coffee house/lunch place. I found out after getting their lemon tart, that they have their own in house bakery. You can taste the expertise of their staff in the food and it is being served by an awesome and professional friendly wonderful staff. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and vibrant. I have lived in Beaverton for a while now but this was my first trip to Milwaukie and I am pleased as punch. Will definitely be back to try other menu items. The coffee was strong and wonderful too.

Yelp
Keeper Coffee's new location downtown Milwaukie. It shares the building with pFriem Family Brewers. Super cute interior with spacious seating upstairs! They also have tables outside if you want to enjoy your coffee outdoors. They serve coffee and tea along with a wide variety of pastries. They have a pretty good brunch menu as well. I stopped in briefly today to grab a matcha to-go, but definitely will be back to try their brunch. Oh, and I love that gratuity is included in their prices as it reflects livable and equitable wages for their employees.

Yelp
We stopped for coffee and pastries on the way home. Everything was delicious! We both rode the summer moon latte which is there house made syrup. I got the gluten free lemon cake and my husband got some sort of berry tart that was outstanding!! Everything is made in house.

Yelp
This is my new favorite coffee shop in Portland and maybe ever. There are two keeper coffee locations, I think this one on Milwaukee is new. Easy to find parking and tons of indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas. Baristas were very friendly. Great service. The scone was one of the best I have ever had. It was not dry, crunchier on the outside and soft on the inside. The rosemary sugar on top was delicious and subtle and I don't usually love rosemary flavored things. It came with lemon curd which was a nice touch. I definitely need to try some of the other pastries here they all looked so good. Coffee was great. They have a great food menu as well if you want an actual meal. Overall, this place is so cute and the food and coffee is amazing. Definitely will be one of my go to spots going forward.

Yelp
Okay the service was AMAZING everyone is so kind and they are working so hard as this place gets busy. Bigger than their other location and had additional menu items. Inside (downstairs and upstairs seating) , and outside seating. Farmers bfast was great. Eggs are soft scrambled and the bacon was perfectly cooked! Cinnamon was okay, I'll prob opt for a scone next time!

Yelp
Excellent food and pastries! Service is very friendly. Indoor and outside seating available. Great beverage selections. A bit expensive but worth it.

Tristan P.

Yelp
I would say that I love the history that the building it's in has. The coffee drinks are good if you are looking for a quick decent cup of coffee. The service is also very good.

Michael K.

Yelp
Lovely looking place, lots of seating, friendly service, and clearly very popular (line out the door). The bottom line isn't so positive. Coffee is basic, and the bacon/egg/cheese sandwich I had was greasy and tasteless. Clearly, it was made beforehand and simply heated in a microwave. For $16.00 I'd expect more than something I could get at a fast food restaurant. I won't be back.

Erin B.

Yelp
This coffee shop is so cute! They make adorable kids' hot chocolate, and the French toast is amazing.

Yelp
Their southeast PDX location is great but this provides so many more seating and space options. The baked goods and coffee are some of the best in the Metro and the staff are awesome! Put this spot on your list of places to check out.

Samantha D.

Yelp
This space is so cute and it is huge! The upstairs has tons of seating, including large tables for bigger parties. The latte was great-- I'll have to come back to try the food. Really impressed!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, plenty of seating for work or gathering upstairs, and full coffee, pastries, and lunch menu. Milwaukee area is trending up because of K2.
