Arrivals and departures was a breeze with barely any queues in both security and passport control but I think the time of year being off peak contributed to it. Asides from that the airport was clean with modern facilities to ensure a seamless transit. Airport transfer was also very convenient with Flybus at the arrivals and departures.

Arriving at KEF was a breeze. Went through customs quicker than expected and this small airport was easy to navigate. Departing is another story. Again, getting through security and checking in went better than expected. The only complaint I have is by the gates. There are no seats and the gates are so close together. It is mass chaos. However, I do have a travel hack for you. If you are by the gates in the 30s, there is a diner type place to eat. Go to the seating up by the counter to the right. You’ll see that there is a booth in the back and nothing behind it. In the back of that lone booth is a hidden two-level platform that was the perfect spot to sit with your bags and be near to the gates. Otherwise, you’re subjected to sitting on the floor or the kids playground.

Arriving and departing from Keflavík Airport was really smooth. Everything was fast and well-organized, from check-in to security. Staff were helpful and the facilities were clean. Overall, a very hassle-free experience. Definitely an excellent airport!

This airport is an experience. I arrived here on an international flight, like most people. Customs was super fast, the fastest I've ever been through customs. The airport has most everything you could want with restaurants and machines and beautiful bathrooms. However, I had some things that would make me avoid this airport (Both layovers to and from were here so this remove is a combination of both flights.) The flight there, when we landed we had to deboard on the tarmac. We had to board a bus to the terminal. There was a LOT of traffic so our bus ride took a good amount of time. When you have a short layover, that's very stressful. We then had to board our flight via a bus again. Then wait in a line for a significant time to even get up the stairs to board the plane. The flight back, we got rounded into a room and were not told why we couldn't board the bus to get to the plane. We were left in that room for 30 minutes. No seats, no communication, nothing. Prior to being in the room waiting, we had to wait in line at the gate. There is no seating at the gates. We were in a line going through the grocery store area. So we constantly had to move our bags and ourselves for people to get drinks out of the fridge for purchase. Also, the lack of seats makes finding a seat difficult while you wait. If they improved the seating, this airport would be much better.

Due to the heavy snowfall, the airport/airline arranged affected passengers to different hotels. There were 2 queues for solo travellers and couples/families. But the airport staffs could not be sure on their process and nobody is sure where to queue. We were informed by the airport staff that the couple/families queue is only for a specific airline, we have to go another queue when we were already queuing for 30 min. We spoke to the staff subsequently and she was confused herself. Everyone has no idea where they were going until we reach the destination. We were allocated to a hotel 90km away from the airport. The bus is full of passengers departing at different time. We were informed that there will be 3 buses to fetch us back to the airport (7am, 11am and 3pm). However, at 4am, the hotel receptionist knocked on our door and informed us there is only 1 bus coming and it’s coming soon. Nobody know how soon is soon, we are unable to do any planning. When the bus arrived, it could only onboard less than 10 passengers as the bus came with other passengers. I understand the delayed/cancelled flights are not within the airport/airline control but I am sure there is a better planning to all these. Witnessed quite a number of airport/airline staffs standing around the airport not doing anything to manage the crowd, they were literally just gathering and chit chatting which is quite unprofessional in my opinion. Status as of now: we are still at the hotel located 90km away and we don’t know what time is the next bus coming.

Keflavík is a surprisingly large international airport. Modern, clean, and airy design. Very walkable. Several international food and beverage options. Immigration line was short and moved quickly. Baggage and customs lines also moved fast. Plenty of signs to guide you throughout the airport.

Visiting Reykjavík in winter is a magical experience. The city may be small, but it’s full of charm, with colorful houses, cozy cafés, and friendly people. The snow-covered streets and twinkling lights create a warm and festive atmosphere, even though the days are short. It’s also the perfect season to enjoy Iceland’s natural wonders, like the Northern Lights, frozen waterfalls, and nearby hot springs. Despite the cold, Reykjavík feels welcoming and peaceful

buying round trip flybus (airport<>city) is cheaper than buying a one-way ticket. do take note tourists. you can only buy round trip at the counter, machine only allows one-way. sigh…
