Kei Coffee House Is Taking the OC’s Coffee Scene to the Next Level | Eater LA

"Set in a 4,000-square-foot space in the heart of Little Saigon, I found Kei Coffee House designed to serve quick coffee runs, languid meet-ups, and remote work with an abundance of natural light, leather seating, blonde wood accents, and pops of greenery that give the place a Scandinavian-minimal vibe. It took nearly four years to come to life (with permitting alone lasting two and a half years), and Viet Nguyen—founder, CEO, and executive chef of Kei Concepts—built the menu from research trips to Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore, citing Ho Chi Minh City shops Running Bean and Mille Mille as key inspirations. The cafe brews Arabica and Robusta beans from South America with plans to add Asian beans later, offers classics like espresso, flat whites, and cold brew, and features specialty drinks such as a banana toffee latte made with homemade banana milk, cheese foam, and toffee and a melon espresso tonic made with fresh honeydew and tonic water; there’s also an extensive tea list emphasizing matcha and coconut-based blends. A full kitchen and daily in-house baked goods program rounds out the offering—classic and almond croissants, cookies (corn cheese, chocolate chip, white chocolate chip macadamia, cranberry oat), señorita bread (milk and butter, cheese), and the Vietnamese–French beef pate chaud—plus items like egg bites, popcorn chicken, and pasta. If you want a regular cup of Joe, that’s available; if you want something adventurous that you’d probably have to fly halfway around the world to find, that’s on the menu too." - Cathy Chaplin

Great place to study while having coffee, overall a 4.5/5 (rounding up to 5), would definitely go back. Vibe: Easy 5/5. It’s very aesthetic Food and Drink Quality: 5/5. Everything was great even the standard drip coffee Price: 3/5. Prices are high for summer 2025 comparisons, most drinks are $6-7 and food and pastries can be $5-12 Bathrooms: There are two gender neutral bathrooms in the hallway but there was always a line when we were there Seating and Outlets: Plenty of tables and outlets, though many people crowd tables and there are a few 6-8 people tables that some people share. Plenty of outside spots too

Have been wanting to try this coffee house and I was not wowed by it! The place is beautiful and very clean! The strawberry matcha was a miss for me, the matcha was still powdery and there was little to no strawberry. The orange jasmine tea drink was forgettable, like it was decent, but I wouldn’t come back for it! Surprisingly the banana toffee latte was delicious. The corn cookie was good. The matcha cookie was okay, both on the smaller size.

Love the ambiance if we were able to find a table to sit down to enjoy it. However, it's full of people using the free Wi-Fi working on their laptops. Staff should keep an eye out for those who have been there for hours while sipping on their 1 one matcha drink. Unfortunately, we would have to leave as there are no spots to sit down. All of the time, we have been there on the weekdays or weekends, and it has been the same.

1. The food dishes were simply presented but they were still delicious! The drinks were well-crafted, and I love the fruit bits in the yogurt slush! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes with a beautiful interior! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! We got everything at the same time! Note: There is a restroom available for customers! I went today Aug7th & they have their promos so very busy but that wouldn't effect quality of their products. The strawberry croissant tastes stale, no different than a Costco croissant to be honest but at least costco's would be more buttery tasting. There's no flakiness or even slight outer shell crisp, just soft and not fresh. The banana toffee latte flavor was there, but coffee consistency is watered down, color is not a deep brown & they didn't top off with the standard amount of cream (I'm comparing to different pictures online & what Kei advertises on the Instagram). Overall I would've been fine with the taste and discounted price however, the ice was the problem. it made the drink so disgusting, I can't finish it. don't know if the filter is not good, but it tastes like strong freezer burn. So my coffee cup is full of ice melting and it tastes so gross. I've been here prior actually so what to note I'm not judging just for today's experience - had the sweet corn latte (pretty good), egg sando (tasty but not anything unique or mind blowing),apate chaud (my mom says it was not good for the price, we live nearWestminster so other Viet bakeries would be a good option) But overall not sure I'd come back, seems hit or miss which is understandable but for the price vs quality not really. Today's ice really turned me off.

The atmosphere is nice and big inside, a great place to chill or study. The bathroom is a bit dirty and unisex. The parking is not easy, but there are plenty if willing to walk. The drinks are hit and miss in the flavor. The Orange Jasmine tea is good, I recommend that one, but the matcha is too milky and not enough tea or flavor, would not get again. They do have cheaper drinks if ordering through an app. The pastry is decent.

Kei Coffee House – Trendy Spot for Creative Drinks and Cozy Vibes in Fountain Valley Nestled in the Fountain Valley/Westminster area, Kei Coffee House stands out as a stylish and lively café that draws a steady crowd with its inventive drinks, photogenic food, and modern, cozy atmosphere. The interior design is impressive — a blend of brick, wood, and industrial-modern elements, featuring a bar counter, plush sofas, and sleek round tables. Whether you’re here to catch up with friends or just want to sip on something unique, it’s got the aesthetic and vibe to match. The drink menu is bold and creative. I tried the Sweet Corn Latte, which was the highlight — a cold foam made from real corn adds a layered sweetness and saltiness that pairs surprisingly well with the coffee's bitterness. It’s a flavor experience worth trying if you’re into adventurous lattes. Food-wise, the Beer Pâté Chaud is a winner — crisp and flaky on the outside, with a rich and savory chopped beef filling. The Classic Egg Sando, however, tasted more like a pre-packaged item than something freshly made, so it was a bit underwhelming. The Mango Sticky Rice was an interesting twist — warm sticky rice topped with cold mango slices, served with a side of peanuts. While the hot-and-cold combination felt odd at first, the flavor and texture came together nicely. The croissants on display looked tempting, and I’d definitely come back to try more of their pastries. Despite being open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., the café is almost always busy, all day long. Seating is limited, and the space can get noisy, so it may not be ideal for working or studying long hours. Plug-in spots are also scarce, so come with a full battery. They offer free Wi-Fi (up to 4 hours) with a purchase, accessed via the receipt number. Staff are friendly but very busy, which can slow down service during peak times. That said, they seem to keep the dining area and restrooms relatively clean, even with the high foot traffic. --- Kei Coffee House is a trendy, well-designed café with unique drinks and solid food options, perfect for casual meetups or a flavorful break from your routine. It’s popular for a reason — just be prepared for the crowd, and don’t expect a quiet study session.

Kei Coffee is hands-down one of the most energetic, upbeat coffee shops I’ve been to in Little Saigon. The vibe here is super youthful and modern — you’ll mostly see stylish Vietnamese locals, college students, and young professionals hanging out or snapping pics with their drinks. The matcha drinks are incredible — super fresh, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. I had the banana toffee latte and a matcha cookie, and I’m still thinking about them. The cookies are baked fresh, and you can smell them as soon as you walk in — total game-changer. The interior is bright and airy with just the right amount of minimalism. Great music, friendly baristas, and that perfect balance of trendy but not pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you want to stay longer than you planned — whether you’re working, chatting, or just people-watching. Pro tip: Come during golden hour, grab a seat by the window, and enjoy the energy. It’s more than coffee — it’s a whole Little Saigon moment.
