Since 1980, this Greek-inspired Belhaven favorite has fed generations—gyros, cottage fries, and that feta dressing. A perennial local pick, documented by Visit Jackson and local press.

When we are visiting Jackson, we try to make a stop here. The gyros are great. My wife got the BLT wrap, and she loved it. Cottage fries are great. We came for lunch and it was very busy on a Tuesday. All the inside tables were full, but we sat on the porch. Cool enough with fans.

Google
Outstanding dinner and amazing service. This place was even better then we hoped. It was slow but they still had amazing fresh food and were very attentive. We would definitely recommend and take our family here!

WHY does the meat taste like I’m eating mush Tonight? The Meat normally has a texture to it!! What is going on? I have never had this experience with this establishment. this meat is so soft I can suck it through a straw!!

Google
They had the best hummus I have ever had anywhere. We sat outside in the patio, and it was an absolutely gorgeous day. All the food was really good. They were not very busy, and the service was very slow.We had to go in and get our own drink refills. But the server was nice.

Google
Its a cozy spot. I went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The staff was super curious. Thank you Marry for excellent service and a nice smile. Thanks to the cooks for making an excellent meal.

Edit- I went back and was a little disappointed with a couple things, i got a salad and the lettuce was pretty soggy and a good bit was wilted, also the baklava was not the best, it seemed like it was a little old and had been sitting out. They still have great gyros though. Keifer’s is by far my favorite greek restaurant! They have great gyros, and you cant go wrong with the pita feta. By far the best part of eating there is their feta sauce. It is so good i can eat their feta sauce on anything! They even sell it in bottles to take home. It it super busy but it is definitely worth waiting for. However their wait staff is so good that they can handle a full house.

Google
You walk in and it’s a nice cozy vibe. For my first time visiting Jackson, it couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. Our waitress Shelby was so warm and welcoming. She recommend a Pita Tilla with beef and cheese, so delicious. Although the food was to die for. The service was what led me to write a review, as a previous server I know great service when I receive it. I’ll definitely be coming back here and taking my in laws here!

Google
This place has some great food. I had the Souvlaki which had some really good grilled onions and the meat was tender. Overall really good. Ordered a pitcher of beer as well. My only minor thing was I wish they had a Greek beer on tap so I could get a pitcher of that.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place. When my hubby landed up in the Baptist Hospital, I found an opportunity to give it a try. I had the grilled chicken gyro and got my husband a steak gyro. Oh my! They were both delicious and tasty. All the many flavors in my mouth mad me happy! Hope I can try it again under different circumstances. We got our food to-go but the restaurant was very clean and friendly staff! Didn't get any pics, but maybe next time. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because we didn't actually eat there.

Yelp
So...this is clearly a local favorite, but I left underwhelmed. Very busy menu, which looks like it had lots of good options. Problem was, nothing really jumped out and the wait staff didn't offer to help this newcomer. Don't get me wrong...our server was attentive and the service was great. I just think she's so used to serving regulars that rookies don't fit in. I had the classic gyro. It wasn't wrapped very tightly, so I ate it like a salad, less I make a mess all over my clothes. I tried to tear off pieces of the pita bread to eat...but it was hard and rubbery. Not quite stale, not not soft and fresh. They also serve potato wedges as their "French fries." It's a matter of taste, but not my favorite. It had a classic look of a locals place. But the floor was a little too sticky for me. Sometimes that's the sign of awesomeness, but not the day I was there. I am sure I'll be back the next time in Jackson (as there aren't many options downtown)...I just wish I was looking forward to it more!

Yelp
Probably my most favorite restaurant, ever. Been eating here since college, and now I come with my wife and kids when we pass through town. Many memories at this place. Keifer's is legit, and they've been doing it a long time. Food is consistently good. Service is always great. Legendary vibe going on here. Don't be afraid to make the trip!

Yelp
It was alright, a little salty in all honesty but at least there's a lot of meat. The server really did not want to be there at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointed...Greek salad was mostly a bowl of old iceberg lettuce; intwo olives; two cherry tomatoes; no pepperoncini....good music station, though...

Yelp
This place combines the taste of the Mediterranean that it promises with a local touch. It's a splendid building with a lot of seating, and I got quick service. The ambiance combines a residential atmosphere with pictures of Grecian islands with an occasional touch of Jerimiah was a Bullfrog on the speakers. I got my falafel in pita form, but had other vegetarian options, including pitas based on cheese or mushrooms as well as several salads. I went indulgent though, adding a sliced fried potato which was delicious with just a touch of salt. My sandwich was loaded with onions and tzatziki and was excellent falafel. I finished it very quickly. Also notable was the fact that they had generous hours and were open on Sundays, which none of the other places I bookmarked in Jackson were.

Yelp
I sat down and ate for lunch. This was my very first visit to this restaurant and I was not so happy about it. We had an amazing server .. so my review for her would be 10/10 (I wish I could remember her name). However, my food and experience is roughly an 3/10. My food was really hot and fresh-- however, the gyro was missing some Mediterranean flavors. It was quite bland and somewhat resembled a lamb/ beef taco :(, which was disappointing. The fries were really enjoyable 9/10. The falafel was fried a lot darker than what I'm used to. And to sum this allll up, my appetizer had a dust particle on the lettuce.. at first I thought, "hmmm since I'm sitting outside, it had to come from out here" , and brushed it off. When I got my lunch, my lettuce inside the gyro had curly hair on it.. this time I knew it wasn't from outside seating. My server was extremely nice about it, so she lightened the experience. However, I wasn't impressed by anything at this restaurant.

Yelp
Very nice seating outside and friendly service. The Pita Wraps and Fried Potato were very good! Will be a repeat lunch place for sure!

Yelp
Overall 4 stars: This Greek restaurant is a staple in Jackson, MS. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently good. Located downtown in the medical section, locals and tourists flock there for the gyros, falafel, and salads. There is ample seating inside and outside (side covered patio). The servers are friendly and mostly efficient. Being a popular place, it can get really busy during lunch and dinner time. To-go orders are common and it especially works for me living over 90 miles away. When I'm in Jackson and got a hankering for some enjoyable food, this is the place to go. My apologies but I forgot to take pictures. My girls devoured their portions before I was ready to take some pics. With that said, get the Gyros salads and the gyro sandwiches. Both items are hefty and will fill you up. Recommendation: if you get the Gyro salad, order a side of pita bread and you will "two meals" in one. Also, your wife will be happy cuz you're eating healthy portion of lettuce and veggies

Yelp
Went to Keifer's today around 4:00pm today and had the gyro cottage fries and Hummus as an appetizer. Was surprisingly entertained by a mouse running around my feet. Paid 23 dollars to have a mouse dancing around my food for fun. I'd say save ur money and wait for the madison location to open. Please get this fixed. Health issue. Eat @ ur own risk.

Katie R.

Yelp
The best Greek food you've ever had! It's definitely a gem Jackson has been proud of for years. Every friend and relative I have insists on going to Keifer's whenever they visit. Those who used to live here and have moved, bemoan not being able to go to Keifer's all the time like they used to. Always get the cottage fries, feta dressing, and I highly recommend the pita mozz and adding grilled feta to any wrap. Yum!
google avatar

Karen P.

Yelp
Food was great but they were having a serious staff issue when we went. I asked for dessert and that never came.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
I love the chicken gyros!! I always order that and a side of cottage fries. The tzatziki sauce is super good as well. I love their pita mozz too! It's a busy little lunch spot but they're super fast. It's a fun spot for a lunch date with friends but also has small tables that are perfect if you're solo. To-go orders are my favorite though, because it's always hot and fast if you call it in!

Yelp
I ate a Gyro from Keifer's on Popular Blvd on Thursday afternoon, November 21 around 1:40 PM. At the time of my visit, the dining area appeared clean; however very crowded. At 4:30, I was very sick, cramping, diarrhea, chills, fever, headache, etc. After being sick all night, I went to Urgent Care the next morning and lab results showed viral food poisoning. I was prescribed two medications and instructed to only drink clear liquids. I called management to report my illness and was shown little to no remorse and or concern; instead, the restaurant was defended in using proper temperatures for preparing the meat. I reported the incident to MDH and have received no response thus far. I'd love to know if my case was isolated or if others got sick too. The experience has given me a different perspective on eating out. I'm very apprehensive. I've had Gyros from other locations but didn't get sick.

Yelp
Love Keifer's greek food is tasty and filling. Our server was very helpful and pleasant. Ambience was nice. Will go back.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Chicken wrap not enough chicken. Bubbly waitress, very nice. Place is nice. Hope they realize prices dictate heavier pita wrap.

James J.

Yelp
not at all impressed with my meal lastnight, my gyro meat was soo over cooked it was crunchy! the falafels were extremely over cooked as well! the lemonade had a funky taste to it. it's gonna take me a while to get over this meal. i have been coming to keifers since 1982, and have never gotten a bad meal here until lastnight.

Yelp
I spent the night in Jackson, MS on my way from Texas to Georgia. The next day, I searched Yelp for a place to eat, and this place was highly rated. I love gyros, but I expected more of a hole-in-the-wall shack. That...was...not...this...place! This place, this amazing place is a huge house with a wrap around porch. The kind of porch you find at a plantation that can accommodate multiple tables and chairs and plants and people. The inside was just as amazing. There were so many brightly painted rooms, and they were large and spacious and filled with people getting their Sunday brunch. Jackson is not a very big city. It seemed like everyone was here. This is a place to be seen and catch up with friends. The parking lot is large and it was packed with cars, but I was lucky enough to find a spot. I was surprised to see a security vehicle parked in the lot and a security guard on premise near the entrance. I'm not sure what kind of problems they have had in the past, but they seemed prepared to give their guests a hassle-free experience. The businesses and houses in the area all seemed normal and decently maintained. I didn't see anyone panhandling nor were there any tent cities to be found. Perhaps the security on staff prevents that problem from developing. Everyone entered through the main entrance of the house near the fountain and sign out front. The woman at the register was busy closing out customer tabs, but she would stop periodically and offer those of us who entered a menu and invite us to seat ourselves. There were a lot of available tables both inside and out. The spring weather was glorious and the numerous trees and greenery around the building kept the area cool and comfortable, so I opted for a table on the patio. A young man rushing from table to table stopped at mine to take my drink order and was back in a flash even though he was busting his butt to work at least a dozen tables of various group sizes. Service was hurried, but quick and efficient. My gyro was out in a flash. Even though the CDC was no longer recommending masks for those who were vaccinated, all of the staff were wearing masks and signage on the front door still required customers to wear a mask to enter. Once seated, customers did not wear masks. Even though I was vaccinated against COVID, I thought it best to eat outside on the patio and wear my mask until my food was served. Other customers at the restaurant clearly didn't care. It truly felt like the pandemic had never hit here. My gyro was packed with meat, tzatki sauce, onions, and lettuce. Had there not been a paper wrapper around the pita bread, the sandwich would have fallen apart. It was busting at the seams, but managed to stay together with every bite and gentle tear at the wrapper to expose more deliciousness. I didn't have to wait for the waiter, but gladly would have in order to enjoy the relaxed ambiance. Instead, I grabbed my tab and headed to the register at the front to checkout. I even got a refill of sweet iced tea for the road. They were so quick and efficient there. Whether you are in a hurry or not, they will take care of you.

Yelp
As always amazing food ... gyros, felafel, etc. Service for 12 was amazing! Ambiance was loud, but not overbearing

Samu P.

Yelp
Good food. Gyro and the potato were good. The pizza pita was good but small, but would get again.

HR S.

Yelp
Have always loved Keifer's but the last two times I ate there the food was not as good. The gyro was bland and the cottage fries were undercooked, soft and greasy. Nice atmosphere and friendly wait staff as always.
google avatar

Summer F.

Yelp
Looked promising from the outside, but what an inauthentic experience. The meal was less than stellar (as compared to solid Greek places), kitchen employees appeared not engaged, rather on cell phones and carrying on loudly amongst each other. Pita tasted very stale. Also very odd spelling of "zazeeki" on the menu...not impressed.

Shane B.

Yelp
It's a solid 4. This was my family's first time eating here we stopped in for some gyros for a quick bite to eat. We decided to sit outside and the atmosphere was better as the inside was insanely busier. Due to an event going on near by. So it's took us around 10 mins to get an order placed the waiter was nice and knowledgeable and quick to get order in. I ordered a gyro a menu stable for a gyro place it was delicious 7.5 outta 10 for me. My wife ordered a veggie cheese with the feta cheese the cheese to me was too salty and ruined the taste 3.5 outta 10 for me. My little girl ordered the kebob she devoured it before I could get a chance to try it she said it was good. It's a good local spot definitely recommend.

Jeanne M.

Yelp
I never post reviews. Ever. But this had to be shown. Keifer's is literally top 3 places for me to splurge on. Love, love, love!! I like ordering them open faced because it's always laid out so beautifully and they add marinated cucumbers and pepperoncini's as well. Paying extra isn't a problem. With that said, this is 3/4 of the chicken portion of what I ordered. I removed everything else and used another plate because this was so unappetizing to even look at. Complete disappointed and money wasted. I will say it's completely out of character for this restaurant.

Stanford P.

Yelp
Food was very good ( hey burgersnob-take a chill pill) , plenty of room in the dining area, service was very good, quick, NOT pushy, attentive and friendly. Prices are moderate but not inappropriate. Atmosphere was fairly quiet for as big a crowd as was there. Really good Keifer's experience. We like both Keifer's and Krislaki's though Krislaki's has burgers that cannot be beat. Try them both but we loved the Madison Keifer's.

Allen T.

Yelp
Always great food and service! The ambiance is what you would expect at a local neighborhood eatery!
google avatar

Lanessa S.

Yelp
Who doesn't love Keifers. Lamb please! Yum!!! -L. Uh oh - needs more characters! Lol

Yelp
Hadn't been to Keifer's in over 5 years. Stopped in for an early dinner. Was able to walk in and get a table immediately. Case was my server. Super cute and great server. Didn't have to ask for refills and he checked on me frequently enough to make sure I had what I needed but not overbearing. Ordered the gyro with "fries". Gyro had enough meat to probably make two of them. It was flavorful and not over sauced. The "fries" were interesting as I was expecting actual French fries...the kind I just pick up and eat. They were good but just not what I was expecting. Once I ate a few, I realized I probably liked them better because I wasn't getting a frozen French fry at all. Will definitely be going back and I won't wait 5 years to do so.

Lizzie N.

Yelp
Great food. Really slow service. We were there for almost 2 hours before we got our food but its a staple.

Stan P.

Yelp
Keifer's Madison. New restaurant for Madison location, clean, plenty of room/seats. Probably best of all they seemed to have taken their time and hired enough staff a high quality people. The food was delivered quickly, was very good, as usual for Keifer's. Great location, plenty of parking, a great experience. We won't go to downtown Jackson , it's just too dangerous now but Keifer's Madison will be a hit for a long time to come !!! Give'em a shot !!!

Jenny S.

Yelp
We are out of towners and we're looking for a place to grab a bite and Yelped this up. Great service! Our food came out quickly and was delicious! We told our local co-worker where we were and she said "oh, that's one of my favorites". Won't be disappointed.
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
As expected. The food was fast and good quality. While they have nice facility for dinning in, it is more like somewhat Mediterranean fast food than a sit down restaurant.

Eric W.

Yelp
The best restaurant when it comes to making Greek authentic food and been doing this since I was a child! Great gyros and pita bread (Hint: Always get the mozzarella and ham added on) The service was amazing and with flying colors when you come through the door. I recommend anyone to check out this place cause you will leave full and happy
google avatar

Dillon W.

Yelp
Just "ok".... It's very much so ameri-Greek... and to be honest not the best I've had. It also is significantly more expensive for our family of four to dine there than any other mediterranean genre within an hour radius. The service is typically take what you can get because despite the mediocrity, it's always busy. The parking lot design isn't ideal and there's hardly a fraction of spaces in contrast to seats in the restaurant. Ideally, a restaurant had 1 space for every three seats (quick google search)... not a requirement, but an ideal target of which is being missed. In all, I'm not quite sure why it's wildly popular... but I don't suppose I have to get it- they must be doing something right!
google avatar

Jesusa S.

Yelp
I was visiting and a native Jackson friend told me this was a must so I came. I was expected a full menu of common food you would find in a Greek restaurant and was disappointed that it's mostly a gyro place . Nonetheless, I got the chicken gyro. It was ok. My "fries" were on the edge of being burnt; they were so dark. I don't know if it's Just dirty oil because taste wise they were fine . For just a big restaurant, this is more like fast food Mediterranean

M B.

Yelp
Always solid "Greek Mediterranean" sandwiches and beer. Food is very good, priced even better! Always busy but they get you in and eating quickly. Popular lunch meet-up destination. Don't miss it! Cottage fries are famous (scalding hot, careful) and the wonderful gyro variations. Can't go wrong.
google avatar

Lainey T.

Yelp
Best gyro ever!!! I love the two sauces always get some extra on the side. Favorite item is the meat and cheese ! Baklava here is my favorite. Always start with one and end with one... we get Togo for work each time and it's always hot and correct.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Awesome food and fast service. We both loved our gyros. Wouldn't say it's authentic mediterranean but overall very happy with our choice. Pita bread is wonderful; hummus was good but also average.

Daniel V.

Yelp
Subpar food, weird ambiance, high prices, and very good service. This place is more like an americanized take on greek food than it is legit greek food. The gyro meat is rather bland and tough, nothing like what you'd get at a normal greek place. I've honestly had better gyro meat from costco. The cottage fries or whatever the thin and long potato pieces are called were actually decent. The pizza mozz is just a little bit of cheese on top of a pizza. Nothing special. Best thing i had is probably the pitatilla. Waiter was very nice and helpful. You

Yelp
Fantastic food, great service, awesome ambiance One of the rare occasions have I found a place so perfect. Keifer has probably the best Mediterranean food in Jackson. But more importantly the service is excellent. So last Saturday when 9 of us hungry friends dropped in at 10pm, although they were out of it but they freshly cooked Pitatilla for us. Hats off to the chef! And that item by itself is a crowd puller. We then ordered Shrimp pita wraps, which was yummy. We topped with a drink and called it a night. A must visit in Jackson.
google avatar

Tina B.

Yelp
The food is so delicious! I love the souvlaki with mozz. Also get the fries with feta. I'm getting hungry!
google avatar

Alexys B.

Yelp
The workers and owner is always nice ! Great food one of my favorite places since I was little ! Highly recommended Hummus, Beef and cheese gyro , falafel and pita mozz
google avatar

Amira J.

Yelp
not too bad for my first time having mediterranean food in the south! i honestly enjoyed the service the most! our waiter was so hospitable & friendly! nice to have good service after a stressful day, so thank you to the wonderful waiter we had! i came here with some classmates after school & there were 5 of us. we started off with some hummus & pita bread. hummus was a lot different from what i am use to tasting up north. it was good, but a different kind of good. the pita bread was warm & absolutely delicious! this was shareable so we had fun diggin in on this. i ordered the suvlaki which was the gyro with beef, onions n this delicious taziki sauce! so so good it literally all melted in my mouth whatever sauce they use makes everything taste 10x better. i am a huge fan to say the least!!! will probably be coming back here more often to try the different types of wraps on the menu!!
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Stopping by Keifer's in Jackson is a MUST. Jamie Lee was our server & she is one of the absolute best servers in Jackson! If you order an appetizer, you should try the mushrooms or the humus, both are amazing. I would recommend the Chicken Gyro and the Beef & Cheese pita wraps as your entrée or a Grilled Chicken salad with the Keifer's feta cheese dressing. I also went with the baklava for dessert & loved it! This is a great place to grab a quick lunch or enjoy a lovely meal & a cold draft beer with friends! 10/10, will absolutely be returning!
google avatar

Yelp
Never thought I'd find a great gyro place in Jackson MS, but I did! Had a gyro and chicken tortilla soup. I definite must revisit.
google avatar

Wade S.

Yelp
Great gyros We have been coming to Keifer's for years. Great venue as a repurposed house. Eating on the wrap-around porch is very nice. Excellent service. Gyros and hummus are great.
google avatar

Conley C.

Yelp
the best food. BEST RESTAURANT IN JACKSON. The hummus appetizer is so good. The cottage fries are a family favorite (order them extra crispy) The gyros dipped in the feta dressing is UNmatched!
google avatar

JJ B.

Yelp
I have loved the food at Keifer's for many years. However- the last 2 times I have been there, the service has been terrible. Our poor waitress today was waiting on half the restaurant by herself while several people sat at the registers chit-chatting. Our appetizer also arrived after our main order. Looks like it is time to take a long break from one of my childhood favorites until it appears that the service issues are resolved.

Yelp
My sister attended college in Jackson, and this was one of her favorite places to have lunch. She suggested I give them a try while I was in town. After leaving the airport, I made a quick stop here and ordered the classic gyro. The restaurant was very crowded about 12 PM on a Friday, but I was able to find a table immediately. Even though I only ordered a gyro, it did take a while for it to come to my table. It was very good though so the wait was overlooked.
