I somehow got lucky enough to get a single spot. He heard I was a single and said if I came at 5 I could get a seat. I found out later that the entire year of 2025 is booked. It took one week to fill up. That's the reputation the man has built. And I say well deserved. The food was amazing and the service too. Everything was great and 10/10 would do it again.

Google
Fantastic Sushi restaurant....one of my favorite for authentic, fresh and high end sushi. They have a long wait for reservations, but worth the wait. Due to Covid their seating is very limited. Call ahead and get a reservation, you won’t regret it. The beef roll and trout sashimi are too die for. The service was very friendly, the chef made incredible suggestions, the waitress was super efficient and the food was reasonably priced for the quality of fish/ingredients. A meal like this at Nobu would have been twice the price with perhaps lesser quality ingredients. The portions are very generous and filling. A must try place if you are a sushi 🍣 fan.

Google
Absolutely the best Japanese restaurant in DFW area. This restaurant looks so unassuming from outside but once you get in, you feel like being in Japan. The food is so amazing. It is an interesting combination of Japanese and Italian. Every dish is great. The seafood is so fresh. Remember to reserve two months in advance. What a special restaurant! Will come back again and again!

If you're a picky eater, avoid it. If you're on a tight budget, avoid it. If you like the best quality, like to try new things, and are willing to pay for it - get a reservation if you can. This place is one of a kind and I cannot wait to go back.

Once you go to Keiichi, you basically won't trust anyone else to give this kind of quality, authentic sushi anywhere else. This isn't your typical sushi joint, either. Even sushi chefs from Dallas come to Denton to eat here. It's a hole-in-the-wall, easily overlooked sushi restaurant right off the Denton Square, and he just recently put out a sign to advertise his long-time business location. Book in advance! Only open Wed-Sat I think and only takes reservations by phone. Keiichi (the owner's name) is the only sushi chef there and cooks right in front of you. The prices aren't cheap but I've never been more satisfied about spending $75-100 per person at any restaurant, ever, and gladly give up my wallet to eat his sushi. My all time favorites are the beef and jalepeno cream cheese rolls (OMGGG), beef tataki, and any of the sashimi plates. My husband and I did the "chefs special" on a special occasion and got to try many of his incredibly fresh and delicious sashimi (that I probably normally wouldn't have the courage to order) and it was so worth it — definitely expanded my palette to develop a new love of sushi. But I don't really trust eating sashimi / raw fish anywhere else because I know his fish is top notch quality. It's such a treat coming here every time. Also it's pretty casual and not a fancy place, so all are welcome.

Google
Keiichi is by far the best restaurant in Denton. It is always worth the wait. The owners + staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is consistently creative, gorgeous, and delicious. I literally have dreams about the squid sashimi and sea trout. They serve pasta and INCREDIBLE steak. Also they have a bidet? When I talk about why I live in Denton I always mention this place.

Doug Schwartz

Google
Good, fresh fish. Good mix of fusion food and classic sushi. The sashimi plate is great for two. The mustard green salad is amazing... Tiramisu was very rich, and served with coffee upon request... and probably the only public bidet seat in Denton! Don't come for the rolls!

Google
WARNING: eating here will ruin sushi for you anywhere else you go. By far the best Sushi restaurant I have been to in TX and probably one of the best I have been to anywhere. So unbelievably fresh, staff is amazing. Sushi Chef is also classic Italian trained so their fusion dishes are unlike anything I have had anywhere else. Their Tiramisu is so creamy (I dont even like Tiramisu, but theirs is fantastic.) It is pricey and you need to get reservations well in advance as it's a small venue which is only open a few hours a day.

Yelp
Everyone needs to eat here at least once in their lifetime. Kei, Miwa, Seth and now Caleb are amazing. Over the last 15 years they have become friends as well.

Yelp
VERY good food, but overpriced. We were charged bottle price for a glass of wine. Expect to pay $500-$600 for two people. The establishment is open only at certain times during the week, and reservations are a must.

Yelp
After hearing so much about Keiichi over the years, my husband and I were finally able to come through and experience it for our anniversary in March. All the staff were super informative and nice, and the experience at the sushi bar was super intimate. There was another party who had booked out the main room with Chef Keiichi, so another party and we were seated in the side room, but you could still see and interact with the chef as he came in and out of the kitchen. Since it was our first time, we opted to try the omakase. I would not say it's really a "traditional" sushi omakase restaurant insofar as edomae style goes; Keiichi is more of a Japanese fusion restaurant with Italian influences. The omakase itself is more a tour of the greatest hits on the a la carte menu, and service ends when you tell the servers you're too full to continue :P All of the cooked dishes we ate were really good, and the mentaiko pasta we added at the end was probably the best bite we had. I liked that we did the tasting menu the first time so we got to try a bit of everything and see what they do best, and they'll ask your preferences and try to match them, but they do charge you full price for everything, so you're just letting the chef choose what you eat from the menu, rather than some omakase places where it costs a little less to do than if you just ordered off the menu yourself. In all honesty, I would actually NOT come here for the nigiri. Most of the raw fish was fresh and tasty, but the sushi rice was straight up plain rice, unflavored, which was really disappointing after all the good cooked food. The raw sashimi-style dishes were better, and like I said the fish was pretty fresh; the mediocre rice was just incredibly jarring compared to the rest of the experience. On the plus side, the matcha tiramisu that we finished with was incredible. At any rate, we were stuffed after. Our whole bill ended up being around $250 pp after tax and tip. We have another reservation this year for my husband's birthday; now that we're more familiar with the menu, we'll probably select some of the courses we enjoyed the first time and try some other things a la carte off the menu. Looking forward to it!

Yelp
I have been trying to get a reservation at this location for 4 years. Please note, that unless you receive a text a couple weeks before your reservation date, it does not mean you have a reservation. My friend had called in October for a date in February and noted it down on the calendar. However, when we showed up for what we thought was our reservation, we were told we did not have one. Unfortunately, this place does not quickly pick of the phone (if they even pick up), so even as we called the day off, we could not get a hold of them. However, though we did not have a reservation, they were kind enough to squeeze us in on the corner of the bar. I would recommend sitting in the main area so you can watch the chef in action but given we supposedly did not have a reservation that was saved, we were just happy to eat. Investing in a reservation system would be highly recommended to not cause such confusion as we would not have driver an hour for dinner if we did not have something reserved. Food - everything we tried from the sushi, sashimi, lamb was amazing. The fish is delicate, fresh, and simply delicious. Many items had unique flavors that I would not initially think to pair together, but were great! The made to order and intimate experience is well worth it. Note, the place is fairly pricey, but you are not only paying for quality food, but also service and experience. It is also BYOB, which we were unaware of, so feel free to bring your own bottle or two of wine!

Yelp
This is the most delicious Sushi in Denton hands down. My wife and I have eaten here several times and has always been great food and service. Ambiance is quaint and intimate and his history is vast. He traded French training for Japanese to have more variety in his dishes. Reservations are required and no walk-ins accepted as he has 2 seatings a night. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Very intimate sushi dining experience. We had the chef's choice for our meals. Good time and all the chefs choices were great! I'm usually not a Sea Urchin fan but this was the freshest I've had before. Overall fun dining experience with great food.

Yelp
Soooo, it's been a little over 7 years since my first review of Keiichi, and K never fails to disappoint. Literally everything you try can be considered "the best" of whatever it is. Whether it be the Tasmanian Sea Trout, the Squid, the Ragu Pasta, the Tuna and Guacamole.. And if you're lucky enough, the Green Tea Tiramisu, everything you try is phenomenal, with a Capital F. OMG, can't forget the beef tataki or the spicy tuna, or the Filet. Unfortunately, we were told to try Shoyo, and I tried every month, but missed it for some reason. I finally got to it early enough, and booked Shoyo for Tuesday, and Keiichi for Thursday. Ugghhh. Shoyo was 2x more expensive, but 1/10th as good. K is amazing. We brought some first-timers, and they wanted to make "many" reservations for the year. Sorry... he's sold out for 2022. Not surprised at all. This "hidden gem" is a lot less hidden. K made us the Green Tea Tiramusu, finally... and it was amazing. I truly dislike Tiramisu, but this was amazing. Thanks for another amazing meal K.

Yelp
So the restaurant itself kind of looks like an abandoned Pizza Hut (stole that from another guest but it's true.) You walk in and see 10 seats surrounding and area where the food is prepped. 10 seats (seats not tables), 1 table, and like 6 seats at a bar is all their is. This experience changed a lot for me in terms of how i rate sushi going forward. Had the Sushimi Platter and it was amazing. Like difficult to describe amazing. The stars to our foursome were the flounder and trout. Delicate, clean, and just perfect. The Rack of lamb was incredible. Like make you curse good. Eat here. As often as you can. Reservations are months out so plan ahead.

Yelp
BEST FOOD EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. basically a private dining experience since we were the last seating and Chef Keiichi was kind enough to speak with us while we were finishing up our meal. my ultimate favorite is the beef tataki. the thickness of the slices with the special sauce and onions was a perfect flavor combination. i've never had uni butter before but trying this uni butter toast was truly life changing. super creamy but still stays true to the taste of uni. boyfriend's favorite was for sure the marinated tuna sashimi with fresh guacamole which was definitely a close second for me. sounds like a simple dish but is an extremely unique mix of flavors. our waitress, Miwa, was also very sweet and always had a smile on her face. can't wait to come back here when more reservations open up!!!

Yelp
We went here for my birthday a few years ago with a couple friend and it's still one of the best meals I've ever had. I recommend this spot to anyone looking for an intimate dining experience for a special occasion, especially since reservations book out months in advance.

Carla M.

Yelp
This is just complete flavor with every bite. It's Japanese with some Italian influences ( risotto). The steak with avocado was delicious. Actually every dish I had was just perfect. There is a one year waitlist to get in as it is a very small restaurant with Chief cooking everything to order- so it's more than dinner- it's an experience! They are only open 3 days a week- from 530-930. Totally worth the wait!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so glad I was able to stop by Keiichi after 10 years since my first visit! They are always pretty booked up unless you're going alone, but it's worth the single visit or even waiting 2 months on the list to get in. I ordered the Salmon nigiri and Tomato pasta. I was pleased with the size of the pasta order, it's become a larger order size than from what I remember, and the hearty flavor will really fill you up. The nigiri is simple and delicious, you can't go wrong with really anything on their menu.

Nancy G.

Yelp
Best of the best, words cannot define how flavorful the food is and nothing beats an evening with K!

Yelp
Best Tuna steak ever along with the crab salad The trout is fabulous and the tuna avocado is great

Yelp
Nothing I could really add to the other reviews I feel but this place is absolutely scrumptious. The food craft is incredible. It's some thing you want to eat very slowly and enjoy every bite with somebody very special. Not a place in my opinion to come to socialize. Do you want to come here to enjoy the art of the food. Everything we got was absolutely delightful.

Yelp
This place is impeccable. Perfection at its finest. It's really a hole in the wall and a gem located in downtown Denton. It's tough for a first timer to find this place since it's so hidden with no sign. When my friend first told me about this place, I was a bit hesitant because it's in Denton. Yup! I judged a book by its cover. My bad Keiichi, my bad. I was wrong, so wrong. Keiichi really means business when it comes to perfecting his skills. Everything I had was amazing, and I've been here twice and I absolutely love everything. Make sure to RSVP in advance because it's a small restaurant, and only 8 people can fit at sushi bar. To get the best seat in the house, I highly recommend the sushi bar, where you can interact with Keiichi and watch him do magic. He's actually very fun to talk to, and I had a few foodie conversations with him about Japan. Yes, the food does take time. Not everything is served at once, so just sit back and enjoy the meal as he serves it. No need to rush when you're enjoying an authentic meal. What I highly recommend here is the squid sashimi with red salt and the hamachi. The squid is so meaty; I don't think I've taste anything like this anywhere else (yet). All fish sashimi are extremely fresh and buttery. They melt in my mouth like butter. The favorite sashimi of the night was the scallop. All sashimi and sushi are served with fresh wasabi without paying extra for it. Not only can this man make some darn good Japanese food, he can make steak and Italian food. Ask for the cod roe pasta. It's an off the menu special. Not sure if there's anything Chef Keiichi can't do. For dessert, I was very lucky to end the wonderful night with green tea tiramisu. Keiichi makes tiramisu daily, but not green tea tiramisu. The waitress told me in 3 yrs of working there, that was the third time he made green tea tiramisu. I asked the Keiichi why, and he said it's a lot of work and it takes too much time. He only makes it once a year. I was so fortunate to try it. It's officially one of the best desserts I've ever had in my life. I did try the regular tiramisu on my second visit. It was amazing too, just not the same as the green tea though. It's officially the best Japanese restaurant in Texas, better than the original Uchi (Austin). Chef Keiichi is my hero. I wish he adopts me so I can dine here everyday. My biological parents would understand if they try his food. One more thing, he visits Japan each year for a whole month (I think in Sept), so they are closed at that time.

Ernie K.

Yelp
Most amazing food you can find in DFW area and I am very surprised that they didn't make Michelin star. I mean everything I have tried is mind-blowing including cod roe pasta, lamb, rolls and I think we tried almost everything on the menu. Only downside is that because it's so good, it's almost impossible to get a reservation.
google avatar

Yelp
My complaint is most of the dishes were marinated in some type of soy sauce and was sliced paper thin. Some of the other rolls had minced fish in it and hardly any whole sushi or sashimi pieces. The steak tartar was excellent as was the Akitabare Sake, but $95 per bottle is ridiculous, especially since retail price is under $30 for a 720ML. The price for both of us with gratuity was just over $300 which is ludicrous, especially since I left wanting more sushi. Oh, the tiramisu was phenominal.....will I go back? Definitely not, I feel I was taken advantage of by the meager servings, over marinated fish and absurd prices. I honestly don't see the attraction...they claim you must make reservations weeks in advance, but there was walk in traffic.....I JUST DON'T GET IT.

Yelp
I can say on stateside ratings- I come form Vegas, and have family all over the west and Keiichi has yet to be beaten in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to be stopping by when he had room few years ago (good luck with that now) and his father was there with lovely books that he showed us and the food was- in a word or two- simply ornate. If you want someone to impress- get on his cancellation list. I just spoke with him and he has NOTHING the rest of the year save for cancellations (lucky me). Don't miss it. I promise you can't do better. And for quality vs price he is incredibly reasonable. If it's not the best you've ever had, I don't even know. Amazing.

Yelp
The absolute BEST!!!! Wonderful Food and Atmosphere Great Service!!! Everything is made as you order. I wish I could eat there once a week! I have never had anything I didn't like!!!

Yelp
greatest sushi in all of Denton county if not all of DFW. this is not just some small hole in the wall sushi place, this is an elegant Couture restaurant. be sure to make reservations because again, this is not just some hole in the wall place. the chef is a genius who really is someone you can tell respects the culinary experience and treats each ingredient as if it was the star of the dish.

Erin R.

Yelp
Food and drinks were delicious. Unique menu paired with classics. Laid back yet funky atmosphere.

Yelp
Every dish was perfection! The freshness, the flavors the execution.... just perfect. The miso soup was like nothing I've tasted before. The mushroom risotto was hands down the best I've ever had. Not too rich, just the right amount of truffle, cooked to perfection. The Tasmanian sea trout melted in our mouths. The jalapeño steak roll was soo good we order a second. The Japanese style ribs OMG .... fell off the bone and melted in my mouth ... the flavors were infused into the meat and the curry mashed potatoes were the right accompaniment. We didn't even take pictures cause we finished everything in minutes. It was so good. It is expensive but worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Be prepared to drop like 100 dollars per person for the full experience, but it is worth every penny. Wife is a seafood fanatic and had the pescatore, said it was the best dish she ever had. Sushi was very fresh and well made. We had a Beef dish with enoki mushrooms as an appetizer and it was incredible. I had the beef tenderloin and it was so good my eyes were literally rolling up into the back of my head. No joke. Going back again for her next birthday. Easily the best food I have ever eaten and I've traveled all over the country over a period of 30 years. Oh, and you have got to get the tiramisu. Trust me.

Yelp
Wow wow wow - when my husband told me to eat here for a sushi date. Yes I had a my doubts. Yes I judge the fact that it is in Denton. And when I drove up I question his choice even more. But once you walk in..... It's like you stepped into a intimate Japanese restaurant magically. The vibe is different, I was anxious to try everything. Extremely small restaurant. Their hours are very limited and they only have VERY seating so please be sure to call and ask so you can get on this list! We basically ordered everything off APP menu- my highlights : squid with Hawaii salt and lime -amazing taste and the squid is so fresh! Tasmanian sea trout- yummy must try Beef takai- melts in your mouth! Clam miso -love that you can bites of clams in miso soup. I love clams. So we also ordered the clam app with garlic sake. Amazing We ordered the 5 mushroom pasta as well just to see the quality. It is cooked perfectly al dente on the pasta. The mushrooms all favorable but it is a very rich dish. I will stick with sushi sashimi next time. With the exception I told him to make me squid ink pasta (off menu special) and he wrote it down along with my reservation for next month :) this places gave the the BEST THE BEST I SAID, scallop sushi and salmon sushi I ever had. I don't understand it?! It's Soooo good!!! It's like butter. Kei seriously have some hook ups with the fisherman guys on the coast!!!! We Also ordered every dessert item - black sesame ice cream, green tea tiramisu , mango sorbet. Every last bite was completely gone and so delicious. I can't wait to come back. Oh yes the bathroom ARE fabulous if you like Japanese toilets :) must try if you never use one :-D

Yelp
It had been SO long! Over a year! Would it be as good as we remembered? It would break our hearts if it wasn't! What AM I blathering about? Keeichi, a sushi restaurant in Denton. A Dallas Morning News reviewer said about the restaurant, "FINALLY - A reason to go to Denton!" While the slam against Denton is unkind and show's the Morning New's provincialism, it is true. Keiichi is an excellent reason to go to Denton. It's not just the food - which was spectacular, and which we hoped would remain so, nor just the service - which was impeccable and we hoped would remain so, it was the atmosphere. Every time we've eaten there, we've left refreshed, at peace, and calm. This is not the place you run into, grab some grub and run away from. This is an elegant restaurant in an unassuming shell. The first time we went there we were asking each other, "Is this the place? Are you SURE?" Once inside, the doubt evaporated. Long story short - it lived up to our expectations. Every time we go there, we find an item on the menu we haven;t tried before. The owner used to work in an Italian restaurant and some of his dishes have an Italian influence, filtered through his sushi chef filter. Twice we had his pasta with cod roe and it was so good we dreamt about it! This time, we noticed a pasta dish with five kinds of mushrooms with a cream and cheese sauce. It was SO good! Beth isn't all that fond of mushrooms, but she really liked it too. If you like sushi, you should go to Keiichi. It isn't inexpensive, but it IS worth it.

Yelp
Best place for sushi in north Texas! It is a hole in the wall in Denton, But even Dallas sushi chefs come here to dine. Kobe beef is even better prepared than 3 forks!!
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
Small restaurant, friendly staff, pricey but delicious! You need to make a reservation well ahead of time, 4 weeks at least. The sake colado martini is wonderful! Beef tataki is the best I've ever had, and so is the tiramisu. Snow crab avocado roll and steak with truffle mashed potatoes and green beans are excellent too.
google avatar

Jared J.

Yelp
Truly a five star experience. The owner who is also the chef provides the most amazing dishes and some unique Italian twists on classic sushi dishes. Make sure you reserve your table or the bar in advance because space is limited. Also be sure you're ready to spend some cash because once you start you will want to try every dish. They're all phenomenal
google avatar

Yelp
This has to be one of the best well kept secrets in Denton Texas. We have been here 3 times and literally have tried near almost everything. We come prepared with an appetite when you are able to get reservations you better save that appetite because this place will make it all worth it. It is a small restaurant that seats maybe 14 people and he is very strict about no walk ins. I can see why it's all quality control his food speaks for itself. You will never look at sushi the same after eating here the rest will merely taste like gas station sushi after you eat at keiichi. I had never been a huge Italian cuisine fan and I use to live in Italy but I swear after eating his now I will order Italian food when we dine here. This place is a must in your bucket of list of things to try it is worth the wait!!! Get on that waiting list your tastebuds will forever be grateful.

Yelp
The Best custom Sushi/Sashimi in North Texas, always fresh and the dishes are out of this world. IF you are not Happy with your order Kei with go out of this way to make you happy. We have been going to Kei's place for the last 8+ years and you can not believe the menu. Not only is his sushi/sashmini excellent but the Italian and American dishes are out of this world. Well worth the price and don't forget to make a reservation. We usually book every seat at sushi bar for bday parties. This place is the bomb!

Yelp
First, to give you a bit of background, I'm a consultant and I travel all over the US on a weekly basis. I typically stay in the same place for 3-6 months so I get to know the restaurants in the town VERY well. Keiichi is one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to in my life. Period. A couple weeks ago I went to Morimoto's in NYC and had his tasting menu. It was better...but by a VERY slim margin and mainly because of the breadth of the offering (I love duck...no duck at Keiichi's). Keiichi's sushi is the best in North Texas but at the same time the owner/chef, Keiichi, was the executive chef at Arcodoro in Houston for many years and his Italian is the best in Denton. His filet is hands down better than Hannah's and his pasta has more flavor and uses fresher ingredients than anywhere else in town. If you enjoy tiramisu you will love his. Its made fresh. This is THE restaurant in Denton. I eat there 2-3 times a week often on back to back days. Sushi, then Italian and back to sushi. I was there last week and there was a group of gentlemen from Japan who were working in Dallas. They had driven into Denton just to go here. They were raving about the sushi saying that they had not had this quality anywhere in the US. They were comparing it to being at home. Also, every Thursday Keiichi has a special sashimi platter that he prepares with the fish from his home town. He pairs the fish with different sauces. It is spectacular. Anyone anywhere close to Denton should make the trip to visit Keiichi. You'll be blown away.
google avatar

Yelp
Kei is a master of his craft and serves extremely fresh, not inexpensive fish in a small restaurant where, if you're lucky enough to score a bar seat, you can watch him work. That alone is worth the cost of admission. But then there's what must be the best sushi in North Texas. On my last visit, the highlight was an unfathomable marinated tuna roll, dark red tuna with a light cream center, one of the most perfect bites of anything I've ever tasted. The squid sashimi, the beef roll, the yellow tail. The way to do this place is ask for the chef's choice, and warm sake, and let one plate after another roll out. Kei also specializes in Italian cuisine (someone told me it was his "minor" at the Tokyo Culinary Institute, but there's many urban legends about this place) and includes one or two Italian entrees on his menu. The Tiramisu he serves doesn't seem possible, it's so delicate and fresh and perfect. You have to book several days if not a week in advance. Walk-ins will be disappointed since the place is usually full. There's no doubt this is Denton's best restaurant. When Dentonites talk about our best restaurant, we normally exclude Keiichi from the comparison because it's so obviously peerless.

Yelp
It's expensive, you have to call ahead, but definitely a place I'd recommend. The food is good every time. By far my top sushi place around DFW for special occasions. 5 Star - Great food, will make plans to visit 4 Star - Will eat to satisfy a craving if near by me around dinner time (less than 5 mi), but won't seek out. 3 Star - So-so Restaurant, don't oppose to visit again if friends want to go, or if I'm literally in the same shopping plaza for some reason around dinner time. 2 Star - Bad Food, would object/skip any plans to go to the restaurant. 1 Star - Left the Restaurant angry + food is bad.

Yelp
Thanks to our friends for introducing us to this amazing place! I love how intimate the setting is and how you can watch the chef work his magic from your seat. It's like being at your own private chef table! From the start, we knew we were in for a treat. The location was dark and hard to spot unless you knew exactly what you were looking for. That Keiichi does not advertise and is packed always tells you what a gem this is. When we were seated in the bar, the two walkins were advised that the reservation list was full for the evening! The menu seemed simple enough, from sushi to steaks and pasta, it would be easy to please everyone on your guest list. We had to start with some sushi appetizers including the baby yellow tail carpaccio and a filet with mozzarella roll. The flavors were incredible, fresh, simple and delicious. The filet was thinly sliced, disguising the cheese and rice that just melted away. It was perfect, medium rare and torched by hand! My hubby ordered the filet of beef, with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Quite possibly the best steak we've ever had. I went with the lamb chops, and was very pleased, juicy, tender and delicious, it may have spoiled me from ordering chops anywhere else. It was definitely pricey but very well worth it. In fact, it may just be my new favorite "special occasion" kind of place. This is the first 5 star review I have ever submitted. If you are a foodie, you have got to try it, and you too will be hooked!

Yelp
A sushi lover's dream, and its in Denton of all places... If you didn't know that it was here, you'd drive right past the plain looking building, never knowing what you were missing. Any you would be missing something spectacular! Here you get fresh fish, flown in and treated right. We're talking the best quality with great flavor, perfectly sliced to melt in your mouth. You can be sure that if something is served with or on top of the fish, it was thoughtfully prepared with the best ingredients. Things like hand grated wasabi, fresh roe, ginger sauce, a jalapeno shoyu... So if fish is not your thing? No worry, you still have reasonS to check out Keiichi. One of my favorites here is the beef tataki - perfectly seared slices of beef paired with a delicious sauce. Chef Kei also makes some great pasta dishes and a tiramisu that alone is worth the trip to Keiichi. As others have mentioned, seating is limited, so reservations are strongly recommended. Pricey you say? Well Keiichi was located in say New York or San Francisco, you'd probably wouldn't be complaining about the price. Of course, that means that Keiichi wouldn't be here in Denton, and then where would you go for great sushi (and pasta and tiramisu and...). PS. if you've never tried sake, or think that all sake tastes the same, ask for their sake flight (or a recommendation) and prepare to be surprised!

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Denton!! You'll miss the restaurant if you aren't looking for it. Their sashimi, sushi, and deserts are incredible. Everything is very fresh! I've lived in China, Malaysia, and Singapore and still conclude that Keiichi is the BEST Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. The customer service is also very good. The servers are friendly and always smiling. Be expected to spend though...however, every penny is worth it.

Yelp
I just realized that I have never written a review about Keiichi. Considering we are there every two weeks, this is just crazy. Hands down this is our favorite restaurant on the planet. I would choose to eat here for my last meal over any fancy 3-michelin any day. That seems like a tall order, but he is the real deal. We always start with several appetizers. My favorites are the beef-jalapeno cream cheese roll and the spicy tuna tartare (but you can't go wrong with any of them). His housemade smoked salmon is impeccable and most people that don't like salmon will love this. His salads are always good, of note is the mustard greens which has a sort of sesame dressing that we literally drink up. We move on to a soup or directly to a pasta. People told us that his lasagna would ruin us and they were right. His beef ragu and kinoko are also amazing (and are always perfect al dente). Kei and my husband tried to pretend that he was out of the lasagna the other night and I almost had a temper tantrum. Then you move onto a main course such as beef tenderloin (which rivals Pappas Bros), or tuna with risotto, or lamb, etc. I never know which to get. Next we order the freshest rolls or sashimi imaginable. I laugh when people say they have the best sushi place, even in NYC. I would put the freshness of his fish against any sushi place in Manhattan any day. His tiramisu is the lightest and freshest you will have, and we don't even like tiramisu. The newest addition is the black sesame ice cream which tastes like silky peanut butter. Yum. I'm really sorry to the people who had problems with reservations. Kei takes the reservations himself and as you will imagine, sometimes things fall through the cracks. His place is small and he cooks everything, so if you are running late, it affects other reservations. I still would give it another chance because it is truly worth it. If you want to go somewhere fancy, be in and out quick, not have to make a reservation, want fancy tricked out rolls or don't appreciate truly good food (and the price point that comes with that), then don't come here. There will be more for me!

Yelp
The common noise I made whenever I ate here is "WOW". I feel lucky that couple of blocks away from where I live, there is such an establishment. Of course, the only victim here is my wallet. I just can't help to empty it whenever I go to Keiichi for dinner.

Yelp
I was extremely impressed with Keiichi. Fresh sushi, innovative techniques (thinly sliced squid with the himalayan salt, torching the scallop to achieve sweetness), and coziness that I love so much in a restaurant. Remember...Quality over Quantity. The good: Fresh delicious sushi, optional italian menu, front and center to a genius Japanese chef, cute waitresses, sake. The bad: location, very $$$$, sorbets were a bit freezer burnt for me, and getting stuck with sitting near a SUPER annoying girl who would not shut up for the entire evening! Library voices?? Anyone?? All in all, I would definitely come back...I miss the squid appetizer and the sweet scallops. :) Two words: FAR-OUT (literally)

Yelp
Come for the sushi, stay for the bidet. Everything that everyone writes about the freshness and quality of food is correct and there isn't anything I can add to further illustrate the excellence of the dining experience. However, there is one feature to Keiichi that has been mostly overlooked, the bidet in the women's bathroom. Not only is this one of the cleanest public restrooms I've encountered, but it has a luxury feature of a hygienic bidet. Please see the photo I've uploaded of the electronic panel that allows a person to select preferences such as oscillating or pulsating. In addition, there's a dryer which directs a gentle current of air to recently refreshed areas. Also, the toilet seats are heated! From A to Z, everything at Keiichi is top quality.

Yelp
Went again for a birthday dinner, and this place is just as delicious as I remember! They have the freshest fish (the Tasmanian sea trout, salmon sashimi, and yellowtail sashimi were all incredible). The spicy tuna roll and eel roll were very enjoyable, and the tenderloin, mushroom risotto, pasta pescatore, and lasagna were mind-blowing. Don't come expecting the tempura rolls topped with 400 things you get at other sushi places around Denton; the additions are often added to mask low-quality fish.

Yelp
Keiichi as always was perfectly fresh, perfectly presented and perfectly wonderful. I took two people with me. One had never experienced Sushi at all - Wow what a first experience! The second has had sushi and sashimi in many places across the US. Wow another great experience. It's been said many times before, make plans, make reservations, go to Keiichi. You will pay more than many places and you will still be glad you did it.

Yelp
Really good sushi but reservations are a must as there are only 10 bars seats with good visibility of chef. The only other seats I saw were 4 at the end of the bar (behind a wall) and 4 others in a separate room. We arrived on a Tuesday night and there were 3 patrons...6 more seats were reserved so we were seated at the other end of the bar, behind a partial wall and had a difficult time seeing the chef prepare our food. We had sushi and a bowl of miso soup, all were great but priced a little high when compared to similar restaurants such as Blue Fish.

Yelp
Liked: Served plenty of water promptly. Located close where I live. Disliked: Their ginger didn't appear fresh from the day. The sushi does not look appealing nor taste remarkable. Server is a bit too involved in my dining experience for my liking; asking if I knew what wasabi was and trying to get me to dress my food with it along with ginger Too eager for positive feedback 2 rolls ran me $30+ Do you know what you can get for $30 at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck or Uchi Dallas? For the price, not a fan of the overall dining experience. This goes back to other fine sushi places I've been. For the money, I'm just not satisfied with my experience is all. You'll know what I mean. I wish I only tried 1 roll to know what I was getting myself into I'd probably would not be so negative if the pricing was adjusted to reflect what I was getting.

Yelp
This was some of the freshest sushi I've had. The preparation is was flawless. I can tell when a sushi chef respects the art of sushi and understands how to present each fish this chef knows what he is doing and loves his job.

Yelp
We went for our son's birthday. This is a hidden gem in Denton. You will not get better and fresher small plates and sushi anywhere. Even the steak gives upscale steakhouses a run for their money. Chef and staff are very friendly, and the service was impeccable. Thanks for a special evening. I highly recommend Keiichi!

Yelp
This just set my bar for Yelp reviews with a 5 star. I am a man that enjoys food with a passion. I took my bride here for our one year anniversary and can't say enough about the food. With that being said, my wife is not a big fan of Denton. Her expectations for a place in Denton were low, but the reviews for this place made us "risk it" for a place in Denton for an anniversary. This place is a MUST GO. You will spend some money (we spent $200 + tip). Its a small place that ONLY sits 10 guest at a time, call weeks or months in advance. They ONLY do reservations. ALL the fish we had was very fresh and tasted amazing. Small story: My miso soup came out and I thought it was average miso soup. I didn't say anything, but the chef didn't like how it looked and sent it back. The server said he was a perfectionist. Which he is, the miso soup came out even better. Here is what we had: Appetizers -Smoked Salmon -Beef & Jalapeño Cream Cheese Sushi (must get) -Miso Soup -Squid Main Course -Beef Tenderloin Steak (melts in your mouth) -Japenese Baby Back Ribs (falls of the bone) Drinks -Japenese Martini -Japanese Beer
