Went here for brunch with a friend around 12pm on a Sunday. There were about 5 tables already sitting when I arrived and most of the restaurant was full by the end of my meal. The server was great, she explained everything including the service, brunch menu and specials. The Groupon is what attracted my friend and I to this restaurant and it was more than worth it. We got 3 courses for $24 (not including tax and gratuity) and all the food was great. I got the lentil soup to start which wasn’t my taste, I prefer more heat in my soups. My friend got the calamari to start which she loved! We got the chicken souvlaki and the tomato basil pasta with shrimp which were both delicious. The desert was also great; we got the baklava and citrus moose. My friend and I really took our time and our server kept the mimosas coming as requested. I would definitely return!

A hidden gem. The food was excellent! flavorful, simple and fresh. The portions were generous, especially the calamari and seafood linguine. Lamb chops were tender and juicy! The ambiance was warm. Our waitress was knowledgeable, recommended a couple dishes and sweet! We will definitely be returning to try more dishes on the menu!

Where do I start? I never like to give a bad review, but I do want to provide a subjective honest review. Let me start by saying Malcolm, our server, did an amazing job considering the situation he was given by the owner or manager. We called to make reservations for brunch today but was told it would not be necessary and just show up, which we did at 1PM. When we arrived, there were maybe 16 tables occupied and maybe that many empty, but we were told it would be a 15-30 minute wait. I asked why because there were obviously many empty tables, and we were told no reservations were needed. Malcolm told us he was the only server working today. He seated us, and we felt really bad for the server but waited patiently. Long story short, we were there almost 3 hours. It was three courses and bottomless mimosas. The service was very slow but no fault of Malcolm's. For the price of this establishment, we had certain expectations like linen napkins instead of paper napkins. You can see by the photos that the food was not too bad and I wouldn't tell people not to go but I was not excited about the meal. The best part was the lamb chops in the lamb sald. I would not recommend the Eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were a little undercooked, and hollandaise sauce was a bit congealed as if it had been sitting for a while and just microwaved. However, the flavor was not all bad, just not what I'd expect for the price. After our order was taken and we were waiting for our appetizer (35 min), another man, maybe the manager, brought us menus so we could order. I told him we ordered over 30 min minutes ago. I would just suggest getting more servers and work on communication internally. I know there was one party there with a Prime Minister from another country. Not a good look to see so many empty tables with dirty dishes while customers coming in waiting to be seated as well.

Celebrated a Birthday Dinner here with Friends and Family. We ordered to our heart’s content and nothing was less than superb! I can honestly profess the Octopus app is the best I have ever encountered. The flavors, textures and presentation was spot on. I can’t stop talking about it! Everything was Fresh! Most people ordered Lamb Shank, which was unreal! Nevertheless, I am going to argue the Seafood options are truly the star of the show at Kellari! Greek wines paired perfectly! Seafood Entrees demanded a glass of Assyrtiko and the Wine List had several fantastic labels to choose from! I will say the cocktails could have been jazzed up with some garnishes to step up the presentation factor, but that would be my only critique! A minimal one at that! No regrets spending my Celebratory evening here! I highly recommend! ** Please Note: we parked in the garage located next to the restaurant and everyone had complications trying to leave the garage as the gate did not respond to the paid ticket. Just be prepared to call the after hour service number listed for the garage.

Food was good, but not as good as it was before the pandemic. Remember when there used to be seafood display right by the kitchen entrance. Their dessert now is slim picking. The 3-course brunch seems to be their mainstay and the quality is average at best. Lucas our waiter was very attentive and maneuvered from table to table effortlessly. He was very efficient but there moments that felt like he was putting on a show with the banging of platters. Mimosa was a quick mix and they didn't seem to be putting out strong brew here. Galaktoboureko dessert looked and tasted like it was custard egg roll. Bleh.

Google
Came here because of a discount deal for brunch and bottomless mimosas. The food was very good, the mimosas were excellent, the dessert was to die for. The service was exceptional. Lukas [sp?], our server was attentive and was the only server for 12 tables for a while. In spite of that huge service load, he was fast and efficient, moving between tables in an amazing ballet. Their happy hour looks like a good deal, so we'll have to schedule that!

Came here at 5pm on a Saturday before a show. Nicely decorated. Practically empty though. Food was good and each portion was enough to share for 2. We enjoyed it.

The food was great and fresh. Really good taste. Service could be better. Not the server’s fault. But the only had one during lunch hour for a large crowd, and his assistant was not able to take orders. Other than that, food is delicious and it is totally worth it.

Yelp
Beautiful spacious restaurant and with nice ambiance. More of a 3.5. Service staff was minimal but efficient. We noticed one server waited on most of the tables plus additional staff filling our water and assisting the server. They were efficient and still service with a smile. Portions were generous and seafood was fresh... did I say generous portions? Spanakopita-was a little well done. Natural chicken- chicken was a little dry, mashed potatoes were good. Seafood grill- generous portions of calamari, shrimp and octopus. Would have been better served as an appetizer to share with a group since it doesn't come with sides and so much of it. Brussel sprouts- tasty but a little mushy. The place appears upscale and prices reflect that but I was confused with the paper napkins. Overall it's a nice place for seafood, drinks and service.

Yelp
This review is only based on happy hour but there's plenty to rave about there. HH every day of the week from 3-9pm!!!! Amazing! I enjoyed a glass of sangria and a very nice apple bourbon cocktail. The food was awesome too. The octopus and grilled calamari were cooked right and well seasoned. The taziki dip is delicious. We also tried the baklava (not on the HH menu) and it was amazing! I am excited to go back!

Yelp
Taste: 5* Ambience: 4* Service: 5* Bought a Groupon for the bottomless mimosa brunch (limit two hours). During a trip to DC stopped by here because we found the Groupon for this place. We ordered the mimosas, calamari appetizer and spanakopita appetizer. For our mains we ordered salmon eggs Benedict and seafood pasta. The appetizers were great, hot, fresh, flaky, and delicious. The salmon eggs Benedict was good, I wish the muffin was toasty, it was practically raw. The seafood linguine was delicious., amply portioned and very well flavored. In fact it was my favorite. The dessert was Greek cheese cake (delicious) and Greek delights (cookies), which were try and flaky. We will return.

Yelp
Well,I had a mixed feelings about this place upon entering when we realized that on Saturday night there is only one person, who greeted, serve and bartend. She apologized and asked for patience. Place is not well maintained and, obviously, not well managed. So for design and management they get 1 out of 5. Server, the only face we saw from the stuff, tried very hard and was nice and tired. Her job received 4 out of 5. Pukalia, spread plate was ridiculous. For 23 dollars you get 4 scoops of dips, size of tablespoon, not taste right for me,hummus was blend, cheese spread was over salted and out of proportion. Pita bread was store bought, not the best one, warmed without oil and spices, stale and not good. Tzatziki was ok,do appetizer plate received 2 out of 5. Real star of the night was Thesalina, mixed seafood grill. Wow!!! Octopus melts in the mouth, with some kind of salsa on the top. Shrimp were delicious, plump and well seasoned. Calamari were grilled and charred to perfection and seasoned beautifully! Size was very satisfying,so definitely worth to share and worth 45 dollars. For this, of course,5 out of 5. Side of roasted potatoes was weird,it rather braised than roasted, pale, but tasty and again, nicely seasoned. All in all,I think 3.5 stars would better describe how I feel about it,but even with phenomenal entree,I don't think we will be back soon

Yelp
Had a negative experience here! Staff was quite rude to a friend I was with for no apparent reason. They were also out of several items on their menu. Food itself was okay - not bad but it's definitely beat out by another nearby Mediterranean restaurant in terms of flavor.

Yelp
Pretty disappointing brunch experience. I think they were severely under staffed so I hope other folks have a better experience - there were only 2 servers and to their credit I think they tried their best (but were unfortunately not very responsive to their tables). Calamari was fine ; spanakopita was served lukewarm (I couldn't figure out if this was intentional or not) ; pita was fine and the tzatziki was really delicious (this is what prevented a lower rating) ; bottomless drinks were meh and as stated previously, we had to wait multiple times for refills because the servers were overextended. Biggest disappointments were the main courses: Shrimp pasta had 3 pieces of shrimp and tasted like spicy Chef Boyardee. Eggs Benedict (picture attached) - eggs were way over cooked and only came with a weird half slice of Canadian bacon? Hollandaise was good. The potatoes and salad were fine, I guess. They didn't have the cookies for dessert so we both had cheesecake. It was a little circle cake with fruity sauce, no fresh berries, tasted like it was flavored with a bit of cinnamon, not bad but nothing to get overly excited about. If I were to summarize the brunch offering I'd say the restaurant clearly doesn't see it as a high priority opportunity to build a returning customer base. It just felt like they were going through the motions. With so many other restaurant options to choose from I can't see myself choosing to return to this restaurant.

Yelp
Let me just say I was extremely skeptical when I first walked in because it was a total ghost town. No music and an empty dining room... I had no idea what was going on. However, once seated our server was extremely friendly and the food was good. He even turned the music on for us and boom! No more awkwardness. You really can't beat their bottomless brunch deal on Groupon. Gets you drunk. Would recommend.

Yelp
My girl friend got us a Groupon here. The vibe is very sexi, if my husband liked Greek Food I would definitely take him here. The food was yummy and the service was top notch. If you are looking for a first date spot, I recommend it!

Yelp
Beautiful location and atmosphere lots of fun with great service! My sea bass was excellent but was expecting more other dishes based on the great looking joint. I really want to say that I love this spot and will come back. Location was really great right out on the street with lots of fun places nearby! Definitely enjoy the drinks and the atmosphere. My server worked as hard as he could and the rest of the staff was great as well. I ordered Sea bass and it was excellent honestly! And I was very happy because I was craving fish that night. Unfortunately our other entrée which was a chicken dish was very dry. So was one of the meatball appetizers that they served. I'm sure it wasn't a regular night because everything seem to be prepared with csre. We opted to sit outside since it was a beautiful night, although the inside was beautiful and lots of fun. I recommend the spot if you're nearby and looking for this kind of food.

Yelp
Wonderful food, service, atmosphere, and experience. We started with the Spanakopita and Prasini, had Paidakia and Natural Chicken for the main course, and finished with Baklavas and Greek yogurt. The food was truly outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out at Kellari Taverna.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! A friend found a nice brunch Groupon for 4 people. It was a 3 course pre-fix meal with bottomless mimosas in nice size glasses. There was one waitress but she made sure all the tables were all well taken care of. Everything we had was really good. We had the shrimp linguine, calamari ( Fried and grilled), omelette, chicken skewers, chocolate mouse cake and baklava. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Yelp
Preset menu for Valentine's day. The lobster bisque was flavorful but not hot enough. It was a small portion with two croutons. No bread offered but we asked a busboy and got some. I ordered the baked shrimp as an appetizer. It came an hour an half later. My friend's octopus came 2 hours after our reservation time. Both were terrible. My shrimp was flavorless. My friends octopus was two different temperatures. Half the order was cold but tender. Half was warm but rubbery. I think they microwaved it. ?? Meanwhile people from the kitchen brought stuff out that wasn't ours. There seemed to be chaos. No table numbers to the orders coming out of the kitchen. Only 2 servers to the room. Elizabeth was our server. 1 busboy The table next to us with the 8:15 reservation got their meal before us. Our 7:15 reservation but still no food at 9:30pm My fish was really good. My friends steak was terrible. He didn't even eat it. They never asked how to cook the steak. Epic fail. Worst valentines day dinner ever. By 10pm we had our check and dessert to go. This place used to be so good :( still like the fish....

Yelp
Great restaurant that bills itself as Greek, but browsing the menu, I didn't see that many Greek staples, despite many dishes containing Greek names. There were surprisingly also some pasta dishes, which I'm not accustomed to seeing in many Greek places.. Maybe this is the stuff that they eat near the Italian border, I do not know. Either way, this restaurant, which also has a location in New York, seems to be doing well in D.C. For appetizer, I had the calamari which was just how I liked it - grilled and not fried, and not rubbery. With the citrus kick of the lemon, and the light char (so as not to be overcooked and rubbery), it was divine. The seafood linguini had large shrimp, cured tomatoes, mussels, basil, a "spicy" tomato sauce (which was thankfully not spicy), and a great mix of seasoning - I really enjoyed this dish and it was one of the better seafood pasta dish I've had in a long while. And this was actually the first time I've had pasta from a Greek restaurant (other than the typical cold Sicilian-style pasta salad). For dessert, even though I was stuffed by this point, I had the cheesecake with berry sauce and it was my least favorite part of the entire meal. Had I not known that it was a yogurt cheesecake, I would have thought it was just a creamy cheesecake, maybe ricotta-based. Either way, it didn't really stand out much to me. Their dessert menu is a bit lacking, in my opinion. Overall, I think this is a good restaurant, and I wouldn't mind coming back to eat here - and perhaps get dessert somewhere else if possible, if I had room for it. Their brunch menu also looked good.

Yelp
Came for brunch with a girlfriend with a Groupon. Not sure if the service we received was typical of the establishment or an off day but we weren't impressed. They adhere to a 2 hour limit. It includes bottomless mimosas (orange juice only or champagne only), 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert person. They do not allow you to pay an up-charge to get a different flavor mimosa. We had to repeatedly ask for refills for our mimosas and it was usually done by a server from a different table. We arrived right at the opening, so it was pretty empty. The food was pretty good. The bread and hummus was amazing! The calamari came out warm and would have been better if it was hot but definitely seasoned well. Overall would try again to see if this is typical service.

Yelp
Fresh salads and healthy options. Basically Mediterranean or fish options. Stick to salads, chicken souvlaki was okay.

Yelp
Visited for brunch with some friends last week. I love Greek food so I was super excited for a Greek brunch. Their brunch menu is 3 courses with bottomless mimosas or bloody Mary's. You can alternate the drinks. I ordered the spanakopita, a Greek omelette, and the Greek yogurt. The spanakopita was amazing! The omelette was pretty good but I think I could have used more feta. The Greek yogurt had fresh fruit and was the perfect dessert. The service overall was pretty good, they did not slack on the mimosa refills at all. It took a little while to actually flag someone down to order our food and getting the bill also took a while. Towards the end, we were mimosa-d out and were just trying to leave to change the scenery so I wish paying had been quicker. Overall, I highly recommend this place and I would return. It is conveniently located off K street and there is a lot next door with $10 weekend parking all day.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was spacious, the price was decent, and the service was friendly. We were served with olives, olive oil with chili pepper, and bread before the meal. 3*Priasini: romans hearts scallions dill, caper feta dressing: lightly seasoned salad 4*Calamari: grilled with Olive oil lemon, tender and tastier than expected 3*Spanakopita: per normal 4*Seafood linguine: this was the best dish for this meal. A nice combination of shrimps, mussels, and linguine topped with herbs, tomatoes, and basil. Fresh and tasty. 2*Chicken souvlaki: nothing special and too many french fries, I wouldn't order it again. 4*Lamb salad: lamb was tender and tasty, salad was clean and fresh. Good choice. 3*Giaourtopita: the best dessert they offered. 2*Fresh Greek yogurt: it was plain Greek yogurt topped with honey walnut and sour cherry preserves 1*Greek delights: the most disappointing desserts. Pretty much just like they were store bought cookies cookies. It's a sign for lazy chefs and restaurants. We didn't eat them. It's a one time deal restaurant. Nothing to go back to. Restaurant week is an opportunity for restaurants to show off and attract new customers to return, on a continual basis. However it seems like some restaurants such as this one, only uses it to make a profit which is a little disappointing.

Yelp
I personally didn't loooove this place, I'm obsessed with Greek food and what I live the most is the freshness of it! This place isn't terrible but it could be better, my husband ordered a burger witch was very disappointing, dry and flavorless :( to the positive side though I had the lamb salad and it was really good the lamb chops were impressive oh the playlist was really cool to :) I'd say give it a try! :)

Yelp
Came back on Sunday since my fiancé and I going to Georgetown for a Genius Bar appointment to replace a broken iPad and I just got another Groupon for them. We were greeted by very friendly staff and tables that were well distanced apart which made us very comfortable given the Delta Variant of COVID. The bottomless brunch now has Mimosa and Bloody Mary options but either they did not have Bloody Mary ingredients or the Groupon only comes with the Mimosa option. Nonetheless, the Mimosas were great as expected and they even gave us a carafe to pour more ourselves and two carafe refills. Compared to a few years ago, they expanded the number of options, especially for entrees for brunch which makes us want to come back since we shared. Everything was very impressive and delicious. They start with complimentary bread, hummus, and Kalmata Olives which were yummy. For our appetizers we had the Soup of the Day which I believe was a red pepper soup and Spanakopita which were wonderful. Our entrees were the Smoked Salmon Benedict and Baklava (Challah) French Toast which were significantly better than of what we had at other places. Our desert was a Chocolate Hazelnut bar and a Greek Yogurt Cheesecake, which were also amazing especially the Greek Yogurt Cheesecake. We were so stuffed from brunch it was our only true meal that day and only had snacks for dinner. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Very large and clean venue. We walked in on a regular Saturday night to a very empty restaurant to our surprise. There were only 2 other tables filled, which got us a bit worried at first. Then the hummus came along with freshly baked bread- delicious and what a way to kill that initial anxiety! I was craving a good Greek salad, which I topped with some grilled chicken which was a bit costly (and the option isn't listed on the menu so I didn't know until the check came out). Didn't regret it though since the salad was very well seasoned, fresh, cheesy and beautifully presented. Also ordered the Thalassina which is an assortment of seafood. It was a pretty good amount for the price. No excess chewiness - overall, cooked well. Service was good but that's expected when a restaurant is that empty. I'd recommend turning down the lights a bit during dinner though- it was a bit off putting.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Only decent thing about this restaurant is the spinach app, besides that the deal in groupon would be the only reason I go again. Our server was didnt know jack about the dishes or she just didnt try. My date and I came at 9 an hour before closing and the server made it seem like a big inconvience, Granted we were the only people there and i can see why. The entrees and desserts were terribly simple. Save your money and get chinese food or anything but this place. we came on a friday on 03/29/24 at 9PM. any reviews that say otherwise are fake or were treated alot better because it was known they would review afterwards.

Yelp
First, we came late on a week night, so this may have negatively impacted the experience, but it was not horrible to be sure. For the good, we thought the food was overall tasty. Since it was late, we were really just filling in the gaps from a party we went to earlier in the evening, so we just shared a few dishes, unlike our usual feasting : - ) . The grilled calamari tasted fresh but maybe just a little too much lemon. Also, we had the seafood saffron. The sauce made this dish. It was interesting in that it had enough bite to be interesting but not too much heat to overpower the seafood. I noted several of the mussels were not edible because the shells had not opened properly, which is not a good look at $43 for the dish. Also, we had an order of grilled vegetables, which were both presented nicely and well seasoned. Service was ok. It was a little slow but so was the restaurant with not many customers. At the price point, we just sensed the restaurant could/ should be a little more, including the paper napkins. I had eaten here many years ago, and I remembered the restaurant being better maintained. There was a slight feeling of decay, but once again, maybe this was just the late hour. However, I sensed the Kellari Taverna was not what it once was. Overall, we had an appetizer, one entrée, and one side dish with one cocktail. The total bill with tax and tip (we gave a little under 20%) was $124. This was not a rip off, but considering the whole package, it did not feel like the best value. As stated, the food was tasty but when balanced with the service and overall price, it tilted a little in the wrong direction. We may return if the stars align, but it won't be on our regular rotation either.

Yelp
What a great value if you get the Groupon! Definitely get the calamari, it's tender and delicious! Both of our entrees were good as well, I got a shrimp pasta and my husband got the salmon Benedict. I loved my Greek yogurt dessert, super thick and creamy!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I had an overall good dinner at this restaurant. My favorite dishes were probably the scallops and the lamb chops. I didn't like the texture of the octopus as much and I felt that the grilled fish could have had more flavor. The desserts, the baklava and the cheesecake, were fine but they didn't particularly stand out to me. The service was good and so were the cocktails.
google avatar

Yelp
This used to hands-down be my favorite brunch spot however post Covid it's not the same. I did the Groupon prefix brunch. I had the calamari which I usually love however it was super salty. I then got the salmon Benedict which was also salty. The mimosa glasses are smaller now and aren't as strong. Unfortunately I am done coming here

Yelp
Joined for dinner tonight. The gentleman assisting in bussing tables, running food as well as refilling our drinks, was very attentive. Every low review/assessment on this Yelp account has been accurate. Not true Greek restaurant. Very disappointing.... Even specified this was a special event. We will continue to enjoy Our Mom Eugenia. Best (many locations in Northern VA) in area so far! Glad to have tried....will never retur. Unfortunately.....

Yelp
I came here for brunch with my daughter, Aunty and uncle. We were seated right away because my aunts and uncles had a reservation. It was nice until our food took forever to come and they were completely under staffed today. Like i don't mind under staffed but not being told and having to do a guessing game. The food was good but the manager should've told use prior to being seated that it would be a wait.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. Only Thing; we wanted Greek Fries, they brought us French fries. It was still good but it wasnt our order! And we told the waitress but he didn't say anything... Food come on time, it wasn't slow! It was good timing ! Only service and ambiance wasn't what I expected!

Laura P.

Yelp
A beet salad with no beets or feta. A bad news menu " we are out of everything" and it was 5:00 PM. No fish, calamari, or saganaki (cheese). How can a Greek restaurant be out of cheese? They only had chicken and it was obviously boiled and reheated. I am Greek and felt the restaurant was an insult to my heritage.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Food was delicious! The problem was a full restaurant and only 3 wait staff for brunch so food was not the right temp (very cool soup, entree, etc) and bottomless but they don't have time to pour.... we waited it out but finally took dessert to go. Hire 1-2 more and my review would be a 5!!

Yelp
We had dinner at Kellari Taverna recently for Dinner. The appetizers we had were fun dips and caviar which was great. Dinner was good too. One diner had the Salmon, quite delicious . Another ordered the Branzino which could feed two. Wine was excellent . Must say service was fairly slow . We waited for each course.

Yelp
They have a great Happy Hour. The decor, furniture, and overall ambience could benefit from some updates. Service is good and our server was very attentive and helpful.

Yelp
This is a fun brunch spot! My friend and I came on a snow day so there were very few customers, yet the service was pretty slow. Nonetheless, it was a nice place and I'd recommend checking out their bottomless Sunday brunch. It's a solid deal, although I wasn't really feeling like drinking. The mimosas were much too acidic for me (leaning more on the sparkling wine side) and the Bloody Mary was spicy/potent giving me heartburn after two sips, but for those who can handle it might find it worthwhile! The complimentary olives and bread given at the start was much appreciated as the food took a while despite little customers due to the weather. I wasn't the biggest fan of the spanakopita as it tasted pretty heavily on the olive brine flavor which isn't my favorite, but they were flakey and a good starter. My friend got the soup of the day which was a lentil soup which she quite enjoyed. The seafood pasta was a good portion. The shrimp was a tad over cooked but it was nice. I definitely added salt though. I appreciated the tomato sauce being slightly tart over sweet. My friend's lamb spinach salad was solid. They forgot to put feta on the salad but brought us a bowl of it to add on top. The dressing was very acidic but it was complimentary when eaten with the lamb. Now the yogurt cheesecake was lovely. It felt light and creamy and was a really nice texture and flavor with the raspberry sauce. Both of us got it and enjoyed it a lot! Definitely the highlight

Yelp
BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH: Matthew was our waiter along with one other server from the kitchen hosting 5+ tables on a brunch Saturday: 20/10!! they made sure every table had everything they needed and were very knowledgeable on the menu. Despite having so much to do, they were very attentive and brought refills and food at a timely manner. HIGHLY recommended Matthew as anyones friendly server!! Mimosas were definitely strong and bottomless. 10/10 You get to choose one item for each course; Starter: Calamari was amazing, great dipping sauce 8/10 & Spanakopita was good as well 8.5/10 Second Course: Seafood Linguine was decent, too much dill, needed cheese 7.5/10, Lamb Salad really good, land was kind of rare 8.9/10 Dessert: Greek Cheesecake 10/10 amazing and light, Greek Delight (Cookies) 8.3/10 really light, and soft

Yelp
Had a really strange dining experience at Kellari when I was in DC on a work trip. The food was decent but the service was totally off and it took hours to have what should have been a regular old evening meal. The menu is very seafood heavy if you're into that (I am!) with a lot of fresh vegetable sides. I ordered the branzino special of the evening, which was supposed to come with greens but came with orzo/rice instead. The food was really good and the bread and olive oil they hand out is really tasty! The ambiance and service is what lacked in my opinion. The space is very big and bright, but in some spots obviously a little dusty. Service was very off - we had about three different people tend to us. A server greeted us and told us the specials. Another came over to take our order and said there were no specials, who then brought the other server over to ask about specials. Very awkward. We waited forever to get the check as well. For the price point, I just expected a little more. It seems like other reviewers mention brunch is awesome here so take mine with a grain of salt. There aren't too many good options on K Street near downtown on a Monday night. The food was good, service was strange, and for the price point it could have come together a bit more nicely.

Yelp
I've actually never heard of this restaurant before, but my boyfriend decided to book reservations for our anniversary. The location isn't bad and parking surprisingly was great for a 7pm reservation. We were seated right away and we placed our order. We started with the 1/2 dozen oysters and decided to go with the 3 course special. I also started with a Sauvignon blanc and he ordered a ginger beer (which was also a process), I don't think the waiter knew what a ginger beer was. The salad wasn't the best at all. It was extremely wet as if they poured the entire salad dressing on the salad. The oysters came out then 5seconds later the entrees came out as well. Honestly, my face really said it all. The table was literally full of every meal we ordered all arriving at the same time. We kept it because when it comes to food you can't trust what happens when you send it back. I ordered the lamb chops and he ordered the whole fish. The presentation was nice, but the food was missing seasoning. I think the lamb could've been marinated a bit longer. The dessert was cheesecake and Greek cookies. The cookies were good and I think he enjoyed the cheesecake. We weren't 100% impressed, but the staff was really sweet and took some pictures for us! Overall, I probably wouldn't return, but def give it a shot it was a very nice evening!

Yelp
The crab cakes were too bready - almost like a falafel with crabs speckled in them. The spicy aioli Is really good. Octopus appetizer was big and filling. Lamb chops also were delicious as was the whole Bronzino. Acoustics could be improved by some ceiling baffles. Acoustics rating: 2/5

Yelp
Power lunch venue... They have a great lunch menu at a reasonable price. Fun to sit and watch all the lobbyists and lawyers schmooze their clients. If you feel like splurging, go for fish. Personally, I like the set lunch menu with good appetizers, main entree, and a dessert.

Yelp
This was a recommended restaurant. However, it was quite disappointing. Both the food an wine were insipid. Not really Greek at all. In fact the name "taverna" seems like an oxymoron for this venue. Maybe it was outstanding once, but not now The service was ok, although having an 18 year old in charge of the drinks menu, seems a little obtuse. Tables were widely separated (unlike a taverna), so not so much ambiance - at least of the anticipated kind. We were there on a Saturday night, but being on K street, maybe it is better during the week.

Yelp
I do not recommend. The place is inexpensive for the pre-fixe but this is not authentic Greek food by any standard. The menu is limited and the drinks are subpar. They were severely understaffed but still took our reservation without advising that drinks would take 20-30 min. My water glass was often empty and the food was very salty. The desserts are definitely not baked on-site or fresh. I don't really have anything positive to say.

Yelp
Brunch here is amazing! You can get a pretty great deal on groupon for a 3 course brunch and unlimited (for 2) for an amazing price. The food is just great. The grilled calamari is to die for and honestly what keeps me coming back. The mimosas are poured quite frequently and definitely have alot of champagne in them. I'll just say... I've always left this brunch feeling great. The staff is super nice. You always get to start with fresh bread and olive oil. There are quite a few options to chose from for all three courses which is great. I've never had a bad brunch or experience here and I have been coming for year. They also have an amazing (aka late!) happy hour that goes until like 8 or 9pm. During this time, they have complimentary olives, cheese and bread in the back of the bar area. Also, $1 oysters are on the menu as well.

Yelp
I ventured out on Mother's Day with my friends for a enjoyable meal .The woman who seated us appeared to be professional and pleasant, however throughout the dining process she became frustrated and quite rude. She. appeared rushed and became EXTREMELY upset when I advised her that I had not yet decided what I wanted to order. She rudely stated " you need to order now! Furthermore , I ordered a drink which I assumed that she prepared. The woman brought the drink back to the table and banged down at an unoccupied seat across from me. The drink was horrible so my friend switched it out for another drink at the bar. At any rate I ordered lamb chops but felt uncomfortable eating them not knowing what she may have done to my food. I eventually threw my food away afraid that it had been tainted or compromised. Nevertheless we all tipped her despite her unpleasant and unprofessional demeanor.

Yelp
We got a Groupon to go here and it's an incredible deal for 3 courses and bottomless mimosas or bloody Mary's. The staff is always very kind, even though it's only 1-2 of them working at a time. Food is solid and good portion sizing! I always get the chicken souvlaki and it's delicious.

Yelp
Overpriced for portion size. Saganaki not served at described on menu. Menu says brandy flaming kefalograviera cheese. Not served flaming. Greek restaurants across the US serve it flaming at the table. Expressed our concern to both the server and the manager, but they didn't care. This is not a true Greek restaurant. We would not recommend this restaurant!!! We will not return to this restaurant. Don't waste your money or your time. The service was terrible and very slow even though the restaurant was not that busy.

Yelp
Embarrassing how much this place deteriorated after Covid. Used to be a high class joint with excellent cuisine, this was in the past, gone. Today I had a special Cher's dish - which was a pile of arugula (some wilted some seemingly rotten), literally 3 cubes of boiled beet (is it a delicacy these days???) and a piece of salmon which supposedly was grilled, almost tasteless. All this for just $29! Next to a quick snack joint's quality food for a restaurant price - no shame there! How can you do that? Why do you think it is normal to rip people off just because you think you can? Not coming back, ever!

Yelp
Such a wonderful brunch experience! Nico is a true professional and Matt was very kind. The bread is to die for... I could eat the complimentary bread, hummus and olives as my whole meal! The spanakopita and meatball appetizers were wonderful; the baklava French toast and smoked salmon eggs Benedict were incredible; and the chocolate cake (had to get it to go!) was the perfect day-after breakfast. Fabulous!

Yelp
Genuinely loved the vibe and food at Kellari! Also, I believe our was made better by the exceptional service of our waiter Malcolm!
