Casual, convivial Irish place serving house-brewed beers & traditional bar fare.
"One of Portland’s favorite Irish pubs, Kells, also operates its own brewery, pouring nitro stouts to sip alongside bowls of lamb stew or shepherd’s pie. All of the restaurant’s lamb is raised in the Pacific Northwest, which graze freely on the owner’s very own farm. The pub serves customers seven days a week, on a sunny outdoor patio or within cozy wooden booths indoors." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Thom Hilton
"Kells was opened in downtown Portland in 1990 by Gerard and Lucille McAleese, but in 2012 they opened a second location in Northwest and began brewing their own beer. In 2015, they hired Irish chef Dawn Farley, who revamped the menu to include classic Irish dishes with local ingredients from the Northwest — think: Irish stew or shepherd’s pie alongside pints of Irish stout or red ale. The vibe is really something special, as it feels both lively and chill at the same time. Downstairs, Kells features a cozy cigar lounge with single malt whiskeys to pair with a full list of cigars in the humidor for sale." - Ron Scott
