The Best Irish Bars in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Kells is inside the Butterworth building, originally the site of the E.R. Butterworth and Sons mortuary (a term, along with mortician, that E.R. Butterworth is credited with coining), which makes Kells as famous for being haunted as it is for being a quintessential Seattle Irish pub. But regardless of how much Kells might trip Egon’s PKE meter, it’s one of the most lively bars in the city, with a house party atmosphere on weekends, and an elite gameday set-up that includes a giant screen (and plenty of other TVs) plus a sound system to match, all in a dedicated room that doesn’t compromise the rest of the pub atmosphere for any non-sports fans. On the draft beer front, Kells ups the ante by brewing their own in both Irish and local styles. There’s also a thoughtful menu that surpasses pub food expectations with locally-sourced ingredients: The Irish stout stew here is made with lamb instead of beef, and the Cornish pasties are a particularly satisfying bar snack." - Mark DeJoy

Where to Drink in Seattle This St. Patrick’s Day - Eater Seattle

"Kells will open at 10 a.m. and from noon onward will have music — both Celtic rock and traditional Irish music, by which we mean a U2 cover band. (Entry is $20.) This is likely going to be one of the busiest events in the city so show up early if you plan on trying to sit and eat." - Harry Cheadle

Highly recommended!!! If you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy delicious food and drinks with friends, family, or colleagues, this place is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss! We stumbled upon it by chance while walking through Pike Place Market and decided to give it a try after spotting a sign on the street. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor and felt like a comforting homemade meal. We had the Reuben sandwich (with juicy house-made pastrami), the sausage roll, and a traditional Irish lamb stew — each cooked to absolute perfection. But it didn’t stop with the food! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and for dessert, we were served a heavenly whiskey cake — warm, with a hint of orange — alongside tea, which came with free refills! Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience in Seattle.

Went here on St.Patricks day and it was everything I hoped it would be. The atmosphere was great and the staff very welcoming. I tried shepherds pie for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. I also discovered non alcoholic Guinness and that was perfect. Wonderful experience.

Google
I've been making this my first lunch stop when first getting into town since making yearly trips to Seattle the last 6 years or so, and this place is still amazing and still has a homey feel. Even though it's in the heart of Pike Place, it never feels overly crowded. The food is always on point, and the pints and drinks are always cold and delicious. Esther is the best ever!

Just a few minutes' walk from the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market, Kells is a hidden gem tucked away on a narrow side street. It offers a cozy, traditional Irish pub atmosphere with classic food, drinks, and warm hospitality. There’s also outdoor seating available for those who prefer to dine al fresco. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the vibe is relaxed and authentic. A perfect spot to unwind after exploring the market. Highly recommended!

Google
A wonderful Irish pub, they have great pub food staples such as fish and chips and burgers and also breakfast fare. The Irish Benedict is my favorite. They have a good selection of spirits, stiff drinks and beer

Google
I came here while visiting Seattle, and although it is a bit hard to find, it was definitely a good choice for dinner. I got the Shepherd's Pie (It's a cottage pie, but that doesn't matter) and it was very good. The place was a bit dimly lit and it took us a bit to find the proper entrance. I would definitely recommend stopping by.

We enjoyed our late lunch after a long morning of travel. We stopped downtown to visit a few top tourist destinations while in town. They were accommodating for a group of 7, everyone enjoyed their food. I had the BLT and it was delicious! We dined inside so we could enjoy sports on all the TVs.

Google
Great place for good drinks and amazing Irish food! Stopped in for drinks and food. Our waiter was very helpful, informative and knew the menu. The pasties were great the beef is definitely the star of the show. We also had some one order the chicken pastie and they enjoyed that. Great drinks and selection of whiskeys. Irish music and atmosphere. Stop by if you want a good time.

Yelp
Great food - I had the Fish n Chips and my friend had the chicken tenders and chips. Everything was great. The chicken was especially good - it had a wonderful flavor and a texture that I think is only achieved when high quality ingredients are used. Yummmmmmmmm!!!!!

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Watch out for shady employees here, the bartender tried to rip us off. My boyfriend loves this bar and was really excited to take me here. The night started out good, the atmosphere was fun and lively, my chocolate martini was delicious, I thought I was going to love this place as much as he did. But after an encounter with a shady employee I will never come back! When we were going to close our tab the bill seemed high at $71.99 so I asked for an itemized bill. For reference I ordered (2) $15 drinks and he had (1) Irish coffee and (1) beer so I thought there was no way our bill could be so high. I was right, they charged us for extra drinks which I thought could be an honest mistake bc we ordered drinks and they never gave them to us in the beginning of the night so perhaps they gave it to someone else or charged our tab instead of someone else's. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at this point because they seemed willing to fix the issue. When I brought it to their attention they said they would cancel that transaction and charge the card again without the extra drinks so I thought the problem was solved. But then the bartender overheard me telling my boyfriend I would leave a cash tip and he got upset with me and canceled the transaction because he said I changed my mind on using the card. Which just wasn't the case, I simply told my boyfriend I would take care of the tip. The bartender was being rude but I let it go because I didn't want to make a big deal about it. So then he charged my boyfriend's card a third time and I asked for an itemized bill again because it still seemed too high. He was hesitant to show me the bill and it was because he added 18% gratuity for a party of 6 (there was only 2 of us). So not only did he pocket the cash tip I left him he tried to charge us 18% tip and then ask if we wanted to leave an additional tip on his little device! When I asked him why he charged us the 18% for a party of 6 he angrily snatched the receipt out of my hands and started yelling, "F@ck this, you are such a hassle! I don't want to deal with you, I'm going to cancel the whole transaction, just get out!!!" He was enraged that I caught him trying to pull a fast one on us! Not only was I upset that he tried to take advantage of us but I was humiliated by his behavior. I will never go back and I hope that anyone else who goes here asks for an itemized bill and checks it very closely.

Yelp
A great Irish restaurant and bar located at Pike Place Market in the Alley. The space is large and plenty of seating even for groups. To start, the service was perfect and everything came out in a reasonable time. The food was fantastic as well as the drinks. My favorite was the Irish Benedict that had tender corned beef topped with poached eggs and a side of crispy potatoes. Also, the Irish breakfast was delicious with a flavorful banger. The drinks were expertly crafted and had a great taste. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes. This time was brunch but there are a lot more items I want to try soon.
google avatar

AJ L.

Yelp
Food-wise, YMMV, but all in all, I had a good experience grabbing lunch here. I appreciate that they humored my request to order a single banger and mash as a la carte items to save a couple bucks instead of ordering the full dish (although, looking back on the menu, it would've been a better value to just order it normally, lol.) All in all, the food I tried was pretty unremarkable, but not bad. Ordered the Irish Car Bomb and it was pretty good, fun to try. Service was solid. The building has an interesting history, apparently one of the first mortuaries ever built in the United States - I went with some folks who were interested in looking for ghosts; our hunt was inconclusive, but all in all, the décor and atmosphere was nice. Purely rating based on food and pricing, it might be more of a 3/5, but I wouldn't say I was disappointed; not the best Irish pub I've been to but far from the worst. Would go back.

Yelp
We sat in the outside patio area which was nice on the super warm day we went. The ambiance was relaxing and we could hear the live music from next door at the tasting room. Our waitress was super attentive and really friendly. The food was fantastic! We had the baked Brie that came with soda bread and fruit. My husband had the flat-iron that was cooked perfect and I had the seafood pasta that was fresh and full of flavor. We each had a beer that was just as good as the food. We will definitely be back and would totally recommend the place for a laidback dining experience.

Yelp
Wanted to eat at the Pink Door across the way but I never made a reservation and the wait was 2 hours long so we decided to sit outside in the beautiful Seattle air on Kelly's Restuarant Patio. The sign that read farm to table caught my attention. Service was quick, clam chowder soup rated number 2 on all we tried in Seattle, house salad was large and farm fresh, so delicious. We shared the corned beef and cabbage too which was very yummy. I forgot to take pictures but the people next to us had the fried chicken which looked awesome!

Yelp
Chill vibe, but the food is just okay and place is clearly understaffed. I came by with some friends as part of a Halloween bar crawl, and we were able to find a table despite the crowd. Despite it being a busy night, I only saw one server and the bartender working, which meant that everyone (10+ folks) had to order both food and drinks at the bar. The bartender looked pretty overwhelmed, so we didn't mind the wait. I got the Irish Mac and Cheese as the menu said it comes with a few fried buffalo chicken wings. However, what I got was the saddest gravy style mac and cheese I have ever seen in my life - and the wings were missing. It also came with bread and butter on the side, but the bread was cold and not toasted at all. The Mac tasted okay, but it was much more cheese than anything else, and I eventually gave up on the meal. Overall, the vibe was really fun, but the lack of staff and dismal food made it not worth it.

Yelp
Sometimes a random trip to a bar ends up becoming the highlight of a trip, and Kell's really made my Seattle time special. Not just the friendly relaxed vibe and the great location, but particularly the exceptional service from Jorge, the wizard behind the bar that night. I was feeling a bit adventurous about trying whiskies I hadn't seen before, and before I knew it, he had fixed me up with a sampler of four drams, carefully chosen and with his tasting notes to guide my novice palate. I ended up learning more than I would ever have guessed, and stayed on late into the night just because his personalized take on bartending made it feel like I had been coming there for years. This is the kind of evening than stays in the mind for years afterwards. Highly recommended and looking forward to going back soon.

Yelp
As a Seattle native of two years, it's no secret that the market has some of the worst food in the city. Inundated with fake reviews, these restaurants lure in unsuspecting tourists to slap them in the face with overpriced cafeteria food. Kell's might be the most egregious of the lot. Their crab cake was soggy and underseasoned; their Mac and cheese was a disgusting curdled mess. While the bangers and mash was somewhat redeeming, the plopped ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes made you feel as though the chef wanted you to know it had been made a week prior. The worst of the lot was a burger - my elementary school cafeteria wouldn't have served that. If you're planning to come here, don't. Walk up to fifth Ave and go to Elephant & Castle

Chris A.

Yelp
Came in for a drink before getting food at another location. Let me tell you. The staff is on point! Drinks.... I had an old fashion down at Von's that was pure alcohol made by someone that should have tapped out and said they didn't know how to Make it, that was not the case at Kelly's, these guys made a stellar drink and even served great commentary along with it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Would 100% come back again.

Yelp
Came here for a pre-game meetup on New Year's before the Seahawks game also the following day. Kells is pretty large, and my party was in the back room which held two bars (only one in use), a large projector screen (showing whatever game is on) and a small stage for a performer to use. The back area was spacious with plenty of tables and counter seating as well as standing tables. This particular visit had a problem and that is it was PACKED. Between our meetup featuring over 20 people and it being New Year's Eve AND there was another Post Alley meetup unrelated to ours going on it was pretty darn busy in here and only got Moreso as the night went on with people all dressed up piling in. By about 10 we decided it was time to pack up. As a result of this, the bar was slammed. If you wanted a drink, you'd be waiting in line a good 10 minutes or more. There were only 2 bartenders and I think food service just stopped as the guy (who now was pouring drinks) couldn't bring out food. Even the boss had to jump in and help clear tables. At least I think he was the boss. He had sport jacket on. I only had a few beers. It was loud and getting cocktails just seemed like a bad idea as I could tell the bartenders were getting slammed and frustrated. That all said I'm sure this is a cool pub and would like to try their Irish Mac & cheese, but maybe on a night that isn't New Years.

Yelp
Expected more from an Irish pub adjacent to the ever popular fish market in Seattle....sat outside which was fine, nice day with a light mist that made the outdoor ambience pretty enjoyable. Service was okay at best, wasn't busy and the server had to be summoned on more than one occasion to reorder drinks, unacceptable...the food was decent, nice bowl of clam chowder but the salad was pretty weak truthfully...if ever in Seattle again I would NOT go to this establishment, if it's even still in business, as there are too many other good restaurants in the vicinity...PASS

Yelp
Great that it is so close to the most touristy place in Seattle but down an alley so you feel far away Have pretty decent food and the beer good

Yelp
Saturday Sept 3, 2022 It was me and my girls out for a day trip around Pike Place Market. We came upon this place for the evening and we were able to be seated right away. You'll have to scan the QR code for the menu and the waiter will come and take your order. Ordering was quick, but waiting for refills and meals took awhile. I don't like to complain about the time as I was not in a rush anywhere, but others might. This is the only reason I have 4 stars to be fair. I ordered an amber draft for myself and we shared a few plates. We ordered the Corn Beef platter, Irish Mac-n-Cheese, Mash Potatoes and French Onion Soup. The food was good, except the girls didn't like the Irish Mac-n-Cheese because it had jalapeños in it...so I ate it all. Ha! Corn Beef platter eaten with cabbage was excellent! The French onion soup could have been better. I'm use to the one with a nice chunk of toast and toasted melted cheese covering the entire top...but this did not have that. Mash Potatoes with brown gravy was good, but can you really mess that up?! This place was nice and big. Lots of seating and right by the water at Pike Place Market. If you are looking for a cool spot to hang out and have some homestyle food, this is the place for you.

Yelp
OK, I can't say anything about the food here. That's because I haven't had any food here, but I have had the beer here! Kells is a Seattle institution and worth the walk down post alley to get to. If you can make it inside on St. Patrick's Day, be prepared for elbow to elbow room, and a fun time, listening to the band play great Celtic music. The service is fun, the drinks are great, and you can't help but be happy in a place like this. By the way, if you're not happy in a place like this, please go get that looked at. strongly recommend with a group of friends if you ever get in the area.

Yelp
The first time I stumbled on this place, I was trying to find restaurants since I was exploring Pike Place for the first time. It was around the holidays and I guess a company must have turned this restaurant into a party place. One dude was maybe drunk trying to get in with no ID, and was arguing with security at the front. Even tried bribing the guy at one point haha. When I got in, the place was packed and was mostly just people drinking so I ended up leaving. Everyone was super nice, though. I came back after the holidays a couple of times and was able to get a normal experience. Food was good! I liked getting the sausage and mashed potatoes.

Yelp
Not sure how this place gets anything less than 5 stars. I love me some Irish pubs, as huh can see from my Yelp trail, and this place gets it 100% right! They have their own beer lineup, and their stout is delightful & clean! Their cider is light & refreshing, with just the right amount of tart! The Irish clam chowder (New England style) was the star: AMAZING, so much so that we ordered a second bowl for dessert after our fish & chips, which was also very well prepared! Chowder was the perfect thickness, tons of clams & perfectly cooked potatoes. Seasoned perfectly. One of the best we've ever had and we've had PLENTY of chowders, both stateside and abroad. Crispy fries & delicious tarter sauce, which I'm sure is house-made. One note: we just got off an Alaska cruise, and though the food on our ship was decent, this meal at Kell's was the best I've had all week!! Definitely on my Seattle hit list!
google avatar

Jenn W.

Yelp
Classic pub. Good loud sing along music. We just stopped for a drink while waiting on a table so we didn't eat or get pics.
google avatar

Zachariah H.

Yelp
I heard this place was haunted, but I didn't know we'd get ghosted by the bartender! We Walked in and sat down near the bar, had to go up to the bar to order drinks, and then we were ignored literally the entire time. Two parties walked in after us and and they were served food almost immediately while we sat there staring at an empty bar, with the bartender walking past us 4-5 times without even looking at us while he waited other tables that sat down after we did. I've never felt more uncomfortable, unwelcome , or unwanted in an establishment until I visited this place.. Definitely not a real Irish bar.

Gary C.

Yelp
Nice that they have live music and Guiness...but really what Irish bar doesn't Very understaffed and you 'll notice it...took 20 minutes to get the bartender/server's attention and that was me going to the bar... Decided against eating because of that so really can't review the food...
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
The traditional lamb stew was amazing! It was the perfect cozy dish that fit within my nutritional preferences.
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way to a show at The Moore, and it was great for the most part! Our server was friendly and prompt, the drinks were cold and the atmosphere is what you would expect for an Irish Pub. I got the Fish & Chips (sub chowder) and the fish was great, but the chowder wasn't. I think I might have got it on an off day. My friend for chicken strips and fries and they were pretty standard.

Kelsey Rose B.

Yelp
Unfortunately sat in Kells for 30 minutes. They said it was seat yourself. No one helped us, not a single person waited on us or greeted us. When I asked if anyone was waiting the tables, they said "probably not" Didn't even get a chance to try the food, because we never got waited on. Really sad, I was excited to try it out since it had been recommended
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great service, and really good food. Honestly, the food was better when stopped by weekly in the early 1990s but 30 years later, this is still the best Irish pub in Washington (and really in all of the PAC NW).
google avatar

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
Great food reminds me of mothers cooking, and the stout is excellent. Everyone is so nice
google avatar

Harley M.

Yelp
Fun Irish pub with lots of beer options, including house-made beers. Unfortunately, the food was below average. I had the corned beef pasty, Bally castle sausage roll, artichoke dip, and whiskey wings. Pasty and sausage rolls were good and both came with different sauces. The artichoke dip was oily and not super tasty. The whiskey wings were small (not restaurant style wings) and just tasted like bbq sauce. Overall, the bar was lively, good service, good drink options, but the food was definitely below average.

Yelp
So took me so long to write the review because I was really annoyed with service and food quality was horrible.i wanted to writer the review level headed. We went May14th. I ordered the beet salad with grilled chicken. I know what your think beets aren't Irish but they are actually are. they are like number three root vegetables eaten in Ireland due to how well they grow. DO NOT ORDER they are canned beets they do not season them, or pickle them just straight out of the can. The chicken was dry. Cesar salad with salmon the Cesar dressing was a good dressing, and salmon was cooked well but could not outshine the rest of the experience. My daughter wanted just some soda bread but theirs was dry seemed like been sitting around a few days definitely not made fresh. Our server was sweet but just so hard to get anything from her. Other than dropping our food and taking our order she never came back. Couldn't hear a refill on our iced tea, just was a horrible first impression. I'd say save your appetite and just get a beer hangout talk with friends not with it.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
Got chastised for attempting to follow a sign pointing upstairs when the rest of the place was full during the dinner rush- after hurriedly being told to sit anywhere. How were we supposed to know upstairs was closed? Sadly there is nothing about the fact this used to be a mortuary, it's just another Irish pub that smells like a nursing home
google avatar

Sharice B.

Yelp
The food is decent but the staff are awful. They tried hard to make us feel unseen, and ignored. As we were there for the biggest event The Rugby World Cup, we expected they would be busy. Truly Understandable! First off, I have an allergy and when my husband asked if they had it in one of the dishes she failed to come back to answer us.,We asked her numerous requests for drinks and again she kept ignoring us. The second server was as rude and ended up flirting with some customers (20 somethings) and kicked me out of my chair. (I was sitting awkwardly to see the tv, but she said it was ok, then she decided it was not ok and proceeded to kick a 50 year old woman out of where I was sitting.,Where was I supposed to go? She then said "Don't give us the schtick". What a rude response. I was mortified. By the Way, in front of other customers. I thought i would have some fun but these two treated everyone like dirt while she flirted with the younger crowd! So I will never be returning to Kell's. The staff here are uncaring and downright rude to their "supposedly valued customers'!
google avatar

Ngoc R.

Yelp
Went here for a NYE bar crawl. Bartenders were nice. Pleasant atmosphere with two bars. One side has many TVs great for watching the game and the other side has lots of seating and booths. We noticed they had outdoor seating/covered patio as well
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
This is one of those spots that I consider both a dive bar of sorts and a dive restaurant. Is the food great? No, not really lol. But you don't go here for good food, go for the fun atmosphere and the epic location. Came here last St. Patrick's Day and had some beer and corned beef and cabbage. Beer was great, the meal was ok. I would definitely go back just because it's so much fun but I'll probably plan my meal around this visit and just stick to the beer here.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. A group of us purchased tickets for the Seattle Halloween Bar Crawl last night and our check-in location was Kells and from the start it was a horrible experience. The first three members of our group arrived and were told nothing at the door about how to access the event, despite two of them asking. They were simply told to go inside. The event turned out to be on the second floor, however, we were not told that and sat down on the first floor. After the entire group arrived, we ordered food - downstairs, where there was no discount (as per the event description). We were told by the waiter that we would not be able to order food upstairs and that if we wanted to eat, we would have to order downstairs without a discount. So we ordered food and paid full price and one person even ordered a drink - again at full price. Three of us then went upstairs to try to order drinks. After waiting 40 minutes and being skipped over for folks that came after us that the bartender claimed came before us, we were then told that she was going to stop taking orders at that end of the bar and that the other bartender would start taking orders at the other end of the bar. She told us this AFTER she settled the tab for the other group. I would like to point out at this point in time that the last group that she served that she claimed were next was a group of white folks. She skipped over our group of 3 non-white folks plus one white girl who arrived at the same time as the second to the last group that she served but this gal was in a different party and was solo and looked younger. My guess is that the bartender saw the gal as not having as much money to buy fancy drinks and tip and went for the white party of 5 older folks. However, she did ask the gal what she wanted and then told her to go downstairs and get it whereas she was happy to continue to ignore us. I'm not not saying that this was discrimination, but it sure felt like it. And at the end of the day, there was no excuse to wait until AFTER you settle the bill to tell us you're not going to serve us. I'm sorry, but we will never set foot in that establishment again - terrible staff all around. Terrible experience

Dustin E.

Yelp
The service was great, food was really good, and the ambiance was very cool. Entertainment was also very good. Would come back again!

Yelp
Great food, service and a fantastic server. Right away we were treated, sat and offered a refreshing Irish beer! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Shepard's pie was fantastic.

Bridgeen M.

Yelp
Terrible food...ordered bangers and mash expecting a semblance of Irish sausages. Two huge spicy sausages...couldn't eat them. A tiny spoonful of potatoes. Beet salad. Tasteless. Zero effort goes into food here. Do not come here for food. You will be sorely disappointed.
google avatar

Don W.

Yelp
Wondering what was in-store walking in but quickly became absorbed into the atmosphere with Irish music, drinks and a delicious meal...we didn't want to leave. Got Shepherd's Pie, Chowder, Steak, and Pasty for the fam. The food servings were a bit small in proportion but we left satisfied after the cobbler & mousse desserts! Great beers all around. We got the flight and tested em out!
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
What a great experience! Having traveled to Ireland I can say the pub experience is authentic at this place! Music was perfect, energy was busy and loud, staff was interactive, and food and drinks were great! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, she came to our table to visit. Her jolly spirit and thick accent added the perfect charm to the experience! Even better, they require proof of vaccination to eat indoors! We will definitely return!

Steph J.

Yelp
We hosted a 90 person event (Wedding Welcome Party) in their upstairs bar and it was an AMAZING location. The bar tenders were all on it and kept the drinks going in such a good space. We loved that it was private, yet spatious. As far as planning, it is very casual. They didn't require us to serve food (other places were going to require it, despite us saying we didn't want it) and let us keep all drinks an option while limiting the "shelf" ie. no $$$ liquors. The staff wasn't super organized before event (contract, etc) but the event itself went off so well, and I wasn't really worried to be honest. It's a long-standing family business. Absolutely consider Kells for your event!

Paul A.

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite pubs, but everything has gone down hill: service and the food. No longer recommend.

Yelp
Aaaah yes, I remember it like it was yesterday. The food was really good and the beer was Keilenny! The lady who I believe was the owner had some really amazing stories and such a sweet disposition. We went back 2 days later to hear the live Irish band. (Thank God, because a dead Irish band would be creepy, eh?) LOL jokes aside, it was a great time!

Yelp
I was surprised how good the food is. To be honest, it was the only place that was still open and had empty tables at that time. However, the server was really nice. She gives me suggestions on the portion which helps. We like wings and I like how crispy the wing is. My shepherd's pie is good and hearty! I can't really taste the onion which is great! The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they don't wipe or sanitize the seats nor the table. Even though I'm fully vaccinated, I'm still a bit worried. I wipe my table with my own sanitize wipe.

Yelp
Went last week for a bite and beer and to do a bit of work and it was the last visit to place that i have gone 50+ times over the last 8 years. This used to be a cute irish pub where i would previously refill my kells growler with red but it has become quite sketchy dive bar feeling and after this last experience the kells gowler may have become my pocket change bottle. Cleanliness During my last experience which was thursday aug 12th all of the interior tables were dirty from previous guests even though 75% of the inside was unoccupied and the patio was empty. When the bartender/ manager came over to take my order 10+ min after sitting at a dirty table she didn't even wipe the table down Luckily I carry alcohol wipes for my ipad with with at all points. Food I did order the reuben was the worst excuse for a Ruben I have encountered in years. i am well aware of what the kells ruben used to taste like and this was absolutely not it & yes i have ordered post covid-19. the current version was a single piece of rubbery meat on a piece of bread split in half, the bread was crispy to the point that it appeared as if it was more ignored in a panini press over a long smoke break vs what it was supposed to be but bread but luckily the bread softened due to an extreme amount of dressing on the bread it was so saucy that biscuit bitch would have called it sloppy. I think there was a touch of something else in the sandwich but I was unwilling to open it up to see what the slop sauce was made from. The fries were quite bland & extremely flaccid which was a surprise. Beer & Staff On a high note the beer was what I have grown to know and expect from kells red, also it was entertaining to listen to the bartender who used to work at a tiki dive bar in Georgetown make her way around to tables complain about lack / quality of product including beer at a brewery, complaining about "her server", and bring a table next to me in the corner unordered shots due to a Kansas city connection. Service was so bad that I moved to the bar to finish my beer and order a final one otherwise I doubt that the bartender/ manager would have offered, as she was happy to walk by and leave multiple empty glasses on the table (1 person with 2 empty glasses and it was still 12+ min for the beer which was ordered at the time of food deliver) but she was happy to pour someone a bday drink for what she said was her 30th without asking for ID the second she sat at the bar. Note for the owner Patrick : yes people are aware that there are staffing / supply chain issues in hospitality as you like to state on responses but its the owners responsibility to ensure that quality standards and training are maintained and this was my last time supporting your business, your food/cleanliness has somehow hit a lower standard then the owl in post alley.

Yelp
Love Kells! I grew up coming here all the time when I was a kid and still continue to go when I'm in Seattle. The service is so friendly - fun fact, I went to high school with the owner's grandson Rory and had no idea he was involved with Kells until I went in a few years ago and he was there! And I'd been going forever. Rory is a great bartender and so friendly. The soda bread is some of the best I've had. It's sooooo ridiculously delicious. They also have soda bread mix you can buy so you can make your own! Also a huge fan of the shepherd's pie and chicken pot pie. So yummy!

Yelp
This has the best Guinness in Seattle that I've found, and Jenny is the best server in downtown by far! Visit this place for great service and an authentic Guinness.

Yelp
I managed to avoid the ghost; therefore, I had a good time at Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub on St. Patty's Friday! Yes, there is a ghost here, as Kells is one of the most haunted places in Seattle. Don't believe me? Just ask the staff or any Pike Place Market tour guide. Fortunately, I haven't had an encounter, but I've always been drunk at Kells, which I advise. Despite the ghost sighting, Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub is a fun place to visit, especially for St. Patty's! In fact, it's my favorite place in Seattle to celebrate St. Patty's since Kells goes all out, with a beer garden outside the building and stocks on stocks on stocks of Irish whiskeys and Bailey's. Plus, there's live Celtic music performed here, just to get you in the mood. Festivities occur all St. Patty's weekend. On any other day Kells is a laidback bar with Irish eats and a solid list of Irish liquors and their own brewed beer, including the Kells IPA, which is my usual drink order from here. Food is meh, but you're really here to drink. Sports on the tube and there's always friendly staff and good company here. Get your Irish on at Kells.

Fun little pub in post alley. Live music & they have their own line of beers. Absolutely loved the vibes here. I will be coming back for more live music & probably some Irish food.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Sunday late AM for some Bloody Mary's and try some food. We had a sausage roll, side salads and some fries. Only one server she did her best but seemed a tad stressed out and service was slow. Bloody Mary's were delicious. The sausage role was really tasty as well as the salads with vinaigrette dressing. Very big side salads with lots of veggies. The fries, or chips were great but they give you a little cup of ketchup for a big basket of Chips which seemed odd but possibly people don't consume ketchup much there. The bathrooms really impressed me as they have been remodeled since I last visited and were big and clean. Silly to review that but not what I was expecting. Excited to go back for the live music, really nice venue and reminds me of the pubs I went to while in Ireland
