22 Must-Visit Culinary Pit Stops in Oregon | Eater

"Located in Nehalem Bay just north of Rockaway Beach, the marina is the coast’s premier spot for crabbing and fishing. The site also offers tent camping, RV parking, and more, making it an ideal one-stop shop for folks who like an all-inclusive destination. Kelly’s has 15-foot boats available for rent to try your luck at a fresh catch, but also stocks tanks of live seafood for the less ambitious. Kelly “The Crab Man” Laviolette’s passion for the crustacean shines — he and his staff are eager to share their extensive knowledge about the art of catching Dungeness crab. Tent camping is first-come, first-serve, but reservations for the RV park are available." - Janey Wong

Crabbed off the dock renting crab pots. The staff was super helpful and excited for us. Had our six year-old and four-year-old with us, great places to sit while we waited to pull in our pots. The kids loved, seeing all the crabs, threw back a lot, but got two keepers after two hours. They were life fest for the kids for free, great food. They cooked and showed us how to clean our crabs. I would highly recommend this with kids who are willing to try seafood. If anyone in the group is not a fantasy food, probably not a great place. There are lots of places to sit and look at the beautiful view.

There’s nothing like eating Dungeness crab on the Oregon coast! Kelly’s Marina offers a truly unique experience — you can catch your own crab from a boat or simply enjoy fresh seafood right off the dock. We chose to eat at the dock, and it was our first time visiting. The crab was incredibly fresh and delicious — definitely a splurge, but worth it for the quality and experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making the whole visit even more enjoyable. This was such a memorable way to enjoy the coast, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Me and my friend went crabbing for the first time today and we had the BEST time. Everyone was so nice and willing to impart their knowledge to make sure we were doing it correctly. Debbie especially was amazing, and made sure it was an experience we will never forget. The food was great as well, the big oysters were so good and of course the crab.

Google
I had a great time at Kelly's. Had a Friday and Saturday sitting on the dock of the bay. I was there for crabbing, but the fire pit was thoroughly enjoyed as well. I did not order food but it looked delicious on others tables. I did have my catch cooked there and they did a fine job. All very nice people that I met there. Even had a great conversation with the owner around the fire. I enjoyed every minute of my 17 hours of crabbing from their dock.

We've been going to Kelly's for nearly 2 decades and has become a family tradition. Crabbing here is top notch, great campground also with restrooms and showers available along with a small store stocked with necessities and a great variety of beer. We love this place and will continue to retreat here annually!

Google
Don't believe the hype this place will give you bait that attracts the sea lions more than the crabs, they will sell you for an extra cost better bait that works. They don't feed you if you get skunked that is a lie too. Bring chairs, bring a cooler, bring rubber gloves (if you buy them at the marina they are way more expensive). Bring raw chicken legs the crabs love them and the sea lions don't.

Google
We’ve been coming here for around 7 years. We have crabbed off the dock, the boat and we have just walked in to order crab and pass on the work. It’s always been a great experience, even with the change of ownership. However, they’ll cook but not clean the crab that you catch now…so know how to clean your crab.

Google
We Make reservations year ahead of time to take our RV there in camp right on the bay. We highly recommend Kelly Marina. The owner is amazing. The staff is great and the seafood is out of this world.

Yelp
Wow, what a lot of fun! We were in the mood for crab, even the kid who is so adorable. She never had crab in her life but she said "I am really in the mood for crab today." The wife found this place on Yelp and off we went. This place is nothing special in terms of ambiance. It's easy to miss off the highway so have your eyes open. "Rustic" and "modest" do not do justice. To condense the story: you park, you find where to order, and you order. Ordering consists of picking the number of live crabs you want, plus if you want any clams or oysters. They give you a metal board with your order and you go inside the nearby store to pay. Inside you add lemon and butter to your bill if desired. There are drinks as well. The "restaurant" offers only seafood. Some of the pictures on Yelp showed corn and other sides but in August 2025 there was only seafood. The young girl who takes your order is really nice and very patience, even for neophytes like us who had no idea what to do. Be sure to add a good tip when you pay, these girls work hard! After you pay, you return your metal "receipt" and they cook your seafood and clean whatever you ordered. They call your name and you get a big metal tray with your food. Find a picnic table and proceed to feast! it's a lot of work, but really fun. Messy, time-consuming, but very fun. Adding to the fun is the pier. There were people crabbing, something I used to do as a teenager in Oregon. Such memories. The kid took our bits of crab and fed the seagulls, She had such a great time feeding the birds, hanging out with the crabbers, and generally running around the docks. A great experience all the way around. Oh, and the crab is exquisitely sweet. It does not get any fresher than picking your live crab and a few minutes later having it served to you piping hot. In August 2025, we paid $98 for 3 crabs, 6 oysters and 2 soda drinks. Plus a lemon and butter. Tip is extra. The oyster are steamed. They were huge and had really good flavor. The price is much, much less than you would pay in a restaurant.

Yelp
In the area for a vacation and was intrigued by the Yelp reviews. You can go out on boats, crab off the docks, camp, pick your crabs and they cook them - so many options! We came on a warm weekend and the place was busy. The staff was very helpful and explained how everything worked. We chose to pick our crab and have them cooked for us. We ordered 3 crabs and 6 cooked oysters. We were given a tablet with our order and sent inside to pay. Inside was a small market that also had butter and cocktail sauce in premade packages. Once we paid we went back outside and our food was cooked. Lots of outside table both in sun and shade were available. Food comes out with crabs cleaned on a large tray. Crab crackers were readily available and we went to work. The crab meat was SO fresh, tender and flavorful. The oysters were great as well. This place is pretty expensive but the freshness and quality of food made it worth it.

Yelp
The food at Kelly's looked great, but my friend and I didn't eat there since we brought our food for our two-night camping trip. We rented an affordable campsite located right on the bay. The service was good, and everyone was polite. We had my friend's boat, so we didn't need to rent one, but we saw many others doing so. The ambiance was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed our campsite. The crab derby happened during our stay, adding to the overall experience. It was crowded because of the festival, but everyone was having a great time. I would most definitely stay again.

Yelp
Pricey...but the Bright-on side is that the crab is live fresh and eating outside with the serene view of the Nehalum River makes an enjoyable coastal trip. Amenities ~ overnight RV or tent stay, showers & bathrooms, fire pit with primitive Adirondack chairs. The real draw is the jon boat rentals to cruise the waters and catch your crab. Service ~ meh. For the amount of $$$ you drop, minimally a smile would be expected. Prompted for a tip when purchasing packaged beer that you pick from the cooler and snacks is not cool. Apathetic thank you from the counter after you pay. Resident cats play charm and purr right up next to you hoping for a handout ;)

Yelp
Happened upon Kelly's Marina during a railrider tour. We only had a few minutes so we didn't have enough time to enjoy some crab but will definitely be back. Wife wants to try out the crab legs. Unfortunately they don't have much else - seems like an opportunity to also have some crab chowder! Ambiance is nice along the water. Plentiful bathrooms and they have a store too.

Yelp
We definitely appreciated the crab cookers explanation of how to order, nothing intuitive about the process and we were there for the first time. Our live crab was boiled to perfection, served with the "crab butter" in a small hotel hot tray pan on its own. We struggled eating the crab in shell with just our hand outside. No utensils were offered and no guidance given as to crab crackers were available. Fortunately these were not our first crabs and we made due. Discovered there were crab cracking devices available when we returned the tray, oops. Lots of picnic tables along the marina banks and plenty of fishing activity on the docks to keep us entertained. Should you want to enjoy live oysters be prepared to fork over cash for an oyster knife or bing your own. Boiled oysters are available and are said to pop open for easy slurping, we passed on both. Fun and exciting on a slow sunny day. Have to imagine you would need a boatload of time on a busy day. We had two orders ahead of ours and waited about 30 minutes for our order to be cooked a la minute. Was fun and will return for a novel treat along the Nehalem river.

Yelp
This place is great. Everyone there was very friendly and happy to help and explain the rules of crabbing and the how-tos for boating. After a few hours of crabbing, we came in and feasted. They have a great little store with lots of hidden treasures. The clean bathrooms to freshen up after a fishy day were just what the doctor ordered!

Yelp
My husband promised to bring me here 2 years ago. Noah and crew delivered an incredible experience, replete with crab claw thru the heart.

Yelp
This was one of our best experiences in our 10 day trip through Oregon. Oysters and crab were so fresh and tasty and it was relaxing to sit around the fire and view the water!

Yelp
We have come to Kelly's multiple times to crab and have always had an amazing time. We have developed a deep passion and appreciation for crabbing after visiting and we're always met with excellent customer service. Our positive experience led us to want to try camping. That's when our experience turned sour. $42 and we're packed like sardines. No view of the ocean yet on the map, looks like you do have a view. The sites are so close that I could read the title of the book that the people next to us were reading. It's also extremely loud. They advertise a 9pm quiet time but it's not enforced so there's children yelling and screaming and people walking around the campsites drunk at all points of the night. The people on the other side of us decided to actually leave because it was a joke. The only thing separating our sites was a log. We'll never camp here again... for $42, we felt absolutely robbed. To add salt to the wound, they have QR codes set up around the shop asking for feedback. When we scanned it, the Rick roll video was linked to it. Funny to a guest in a good mood but when you're feeling slighted about an experience, to be misled like that, really angered me more. Come for the crabbing but do not come for the camping

Yelp
We stopped at Kelly Brighton Marina for lunch on our way to the seaside. We had the unique experience of selecting a live Dungeness crab to be steamed, along with two dozen clams. The crab was delicious, but the clams were a bit small. Overall, it was a good experience.
google avatar

Kate L.

Yelp
The kids loved setting traps, driving the boat, and catching crab. We ordered a couple crabs to eat too. Delicious! Really fun unique experience.

Yelp
Amazing. Delicious. Fresh. Fantastic seafood!!! They give you the crab shell with "natural crab butter" inside of it and the heart stabbed into one of the claws. The heart is delicious and so is the butter! The food is so good that I'll still give them 5 stars even though I've got some complaints. I say complaints softly because at the end of the day these things don't need to be changed for me to eat here over and over. They charge separately for everything. You want butter? Seasoning? A shucking knife to open your oysters? Better head into the convenience store on the property because none of that is included. Granted that's why the price is so cheap for such good food! More of an annoyance than a complaint. They will not shuck raw oysters for you which sucks. I originally got half my oysters raw but it was so hard to shuck them I took them back and had them just cook them for me so I could make it back to Portland in time for my flight that evening. Overall it was a great experience and I would gladly eat here again. The deck overlooks the ocean and it was gorgeous. Kind of a stinky place. My partner doesn't like seafood and she had to wait in the car because the smell was so strong. I love seafood so it didn't bother me at all.
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
The seafood prices are quite reasonable. Four of us split 4 crabs, a dozen oysters and a dozen clams for around $100. These are the same crabs you can snag right off the dock in front of you, for a fee I'm sure. Although the food itself is reasonably priced, they charge you for everything else. Sauces. Seasoning. Lemons. The lady behind the counter was pretty rude when informing me of this. I'm surprised they don't charge for napkins and plasticware. There are a few picnic tables where you can stay and eat, including a covered area with a bonfire and an open area by the water with nice views. There is no indoor seating. Plenty of parking.

Bateman C.

Yelp
More of an experience. Very cool way to eat fresh crab and clams. It is not a restaurant. Great staff cool place. Be sure to get your butter garlic and lemons and use the microwave inside.

Yelp
We found Kelly's during Covid and absolutely fell in love. We met Kelly - the old owner before he sold it and he was awesome. We've since came back a couple of times to camp and crab since they've sold it and the new owner is doing a wonderful job revamping the place! At first I was sad to need to reserve our spots because the thrill of the hunt when it was "first come first serve" was the beginning of the excitement from the moment we left our driveway lol. But, things change and change is good! So here we are, 4 years later and still loving this place! Can't wait to come and visit now that I have an RV and won't be doing tent sites!

Yelp
Best place ever. So many fun memories. True rustic Oregon coast. Will always go back.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Camping- awfully close to everyone else and people do not respect quiet time hours. The sites are poorly kept. $42 can be spent elsewhere Also it's loud as it's close to the highway Crabbing- it's alright when you catch crab of the correct size and sex. We have been crabbing 3 times at the Marina and only caught 1 crab that was of size. Customer service: we have been to this marina 4 times-1st time was great; everyone was extremely nice and helpful. However since that first visit- each time the service has gone downhill. We at first recommended this place to friends and family- and now we are taking that back and not recommending this place. They don't care about customers and will literally "Rick roll" you. Scan their QR code and see. What a disgraceful thing to do to customers.
google avatar

Peter C.

Yelp
My cousin had a good experience with his family here a little while back. So it was a total bummer to be treated so poorly by the young-ish 20-something year old guy who took our order outside and cooked the seafood for us. When I tried to place our order with him, I said "Can we get 2 crabs and the clams with butter and garlic?" And he immediately raised his voice and snapped at me and said, "NO YOU ORDER THAT INSIDE!" He meant the condiments (butter, garlic) but was unclear and just continued being exasperated and rude to us when I tried to clarify what he was saying. My guy, I speak perfect English - you're the one with the poor communication skills and awful customer service. This guy should not be let anywhere near a customer. There was also a significant amount of dirt in our metal tray that held our seafood when it was served to us. The guy in his 40's inside the building was much nicer about explaining things while he rang us up. But woof, not a great way to start a meal. I can't imagine we'll be back. Every other place we stopped at on our full day exploring the Oregon coast was a significantly better experience.
google avatar

Remi P.

Yelp
Wish this place didn't have a dozen nasty feral cats climbing all over the tables begging for food.. cat beds right by the dining tables... they're a legitimate vector for toxoplasmosis and other rodent diseases. Also what's up with the large wooden reclined chairs that are literally unusable. Feels like I'm getting dental work. The crab was tasty though! Definitely recommend buying and taking it elsewhere to eat.
google avatar

Tanya L.

Yelp
My son and I just happened to come across Kelly's Marina and we had a great time! The campsites are clean and well maintained. The facilities are clean and convenient. But the best was the customer service! Friendly, welcoming and helpful! We will be coming back! Just a note, I am allergic to shellfish, but I sure wish I wasn't because they had a wonderful set up and looking at some of the families enjoying fresh caught seafood looked amazing!
google avatar

Bianca S.

Yelp
We rented a boat to go out crabbing. We had never done it before and we got simple instructions and had a blast. They cook your catch and those crabs were the most delicious things I've ever eaten. Fresh, sweetly and slightly salty. Looking forward to coming here on our next trip out.
google avatar

Charleen R.

Yelp
Fresh dungeness crab, clams and oysters. They boil them outside in big pot. Beer, butter, and lemons can be purchased inside. Sit outside on a picnic table with great view. They also have fire pits. If you are looking for a side salad this is NOT your vibe. This place only had seafood and it is fresh and awesome. We snagged the last loaf of bread they had in the store and it was not the best, so I recommend bringing a loaf of good sourdough from town. You are sitting right on the water, so bring a jacket, cause it gets windy. They also have covered seating for rainy days.
google avatar

Jason A.

Yelp
I'm new from California, and an avid kayak fisherman. I've been here a few times, and all I can say is, this place is just all around great! The owner and staff are welcoming, really nice, and helpful. Call them and they are happy to provide more information prior to your trip. They have EVERYTHING you need here. The store has everything you need for crabbing, clothes in case you need it, souvenirs, and plenty of drinks and snacks. I've seen many couples and families with kids having so much fun crabbing on the dock or on one of their boats, especially the kids. This, in itself, is a priceless experience and one to remember! I only wish the launch fee for kayaks is a different price than boats, which is typically hand-launched without the need of a vehicle. But regardless, this place brings so much excitement, good food, and fun for the family and friends! I'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Sandra H.

Yelp
Great place to camp and get fresh cooked crab. Loved photo ops here too...birds, sunsets, crabbing were spectacular!
google avatar

Abe J.

Yelp
We rented a boat for crabbing, which came with a 2-hour rental, pre-baited crab nets, life jackets, and even cooking the crabs afterwards. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, making it a fun experience! After crabbing, you can relax by a fire and enjoy the company of the sweetest cats--Sean was my favorite! If boating isn't your thing, you can also rent a crab pot and crab right off the dock. They also sell fresh crab, clams and oysters if you prefer to just buy. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Kailani S.

Yelp
Their crab, oysters, and clams are always good. My family and I go here for our yearly camping trip. We come from Washington. We have been visiting when Kelly was still the owner. We really wish he still owned and ran the place. It was so much better. The crabbing lately hasn't been the greatest. The last two times we came here we didn't catch much, and this recent time we didn't get any keepers. So we ended up buying crab and oysters instead. The staff is always friendly and the place is a good location. Campsites are a bit close but still manage a little privacy. They have showers and bathrooms, as well as a nice gift shop that they've recently expanded w/ lots of cute hoodies/tees/crew necks. Tables for people to eat, and you can also crab off of the dock without having to pay 120 for the boat. Great place to check out at least once. Fun especially for the kids.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Great spot you wouldn't know about if someone didn't mention it. Fresh seafood cooked from the dock. Can rent a boat to go crabbing. Full coolers for supplies
google avatar

Kristina R.

Yelp
5 stars for this crabbing marina on the Oregon coast! I took my kids, and we had an incredible time. The staff was super friendly and made the whole process easy, even helping us get out on the boat. We caught our own crabs and, the best part, there's nowhere else I've been where they'll cook it up for you right on-site so you can enjoy it fresh! The experience was so unique and fun, my kids are already planning our next trip. If you want something different and memorable, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Jen G.

Yelp
We stopped by since we were craving crab and oyster shooters. Unfortunately they were out of shooters. The crab was cooked to order and they had a covered area we could eat at (pet friendly). It was rainy so we were a little cold. The crab was cleaned for us and tasted amazing. My only slight complaint was service on the inside. It wasn't terribly busy but felt not very welcomed or greeted, almost like we were a nuisance (maybe someone was having a bad day?). Service outside was great. We ate it too fast for pictures!
google avatar

Diana X.

Yelp
Such a fun experience! Beautiful spot to sit at the picnic tables and the seafood was so good and so fresh. Cooked on the spot. There was a shop where you could go inside and buy butter to heat up in the microwave or lemons or cocktail sauce. Utensils were available and some additional hot sauces etc were free

Erica E.

Yelp
Had a great time with the family! We rented the boat for crab fishing and it was 4 adults and one child. We caught 12 large males, but when we came back to shore, it turns out only 4 were the "legal size." The staff were super nice. The instructions were confusing but it made more sense when we were out on the water. It was the highlight of our vacation and we'd definitely do it again !
google avatar

Victoria W.

Yelp
Low key tourist trap, but honestly we had a great time here. We opted for dock crabbing instead of getting a boat. We bought our crabbing license there too as well instead of going through and making an online account. You only need the license if you are going to touch the crab. We caught a lot but they were all female crabs or too small, so we had to throw it back in. We ended up ordering crabs at the dock, which they boiled in salt water, but we of course expected to bring some home. It's great that they sell $4 beers there too so you can just kick back and hang out by the dock or fire pit. Unfortunately you have to pay for extra bait, wood for the fire pits, and even butter. Even though we literally caught no viable crabs, we had an excellent day trip out here! I'm sure there are other places like this, but this was the easiest website to navigate and understand and it was the cheapest!

Yelp
Be out on the deck. Pick your seafood and they will cook it for you. What more can ya ask for? We went in a windy and cloudy day. Still enjoyed every bit of it. We took our friend from FL and he absolutely loved it! Outdoor and indoor seating. We gotta return when the weather is nice and give an updated review. :)

Joe B.

Yelp
Fun place to stay! You can rent crab nets to fish for crab right off the docks or rent a boat. Saw 4 otters swimming right off shore. Stayed two nights, but you don't need to camp to buy or catch crab. Although there is noise from the street above the marina, it's not bad and subsides in the evening. Plenty of coin op showers that are open 24/7 ($1.5/5 min).

Alison N.

Yelp
Great food and customer service and very reasonably priced!! They have crabbing boats and equipment to rent, a nice little store with a good selection of local beer.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
Our family was out there for Labor Day weekend and it was truly the best experience. Separated sections for families to camp, coin operated showers & friendly helpful staff. We had a group of over 20 and they were so accommodating. Food was delicious, fresh as can be! Love the rustic setting truly tied in the whole camping experience. We are definitely going back next year with even more people.

Yelp
August 6-8th: I thought I wrote a review but am not seeing it here. For this reason this is being written months later. I went once last year and the owner was just amazing and very visible the entire time I was there. This year, unbeknownst to me, the owners had changed. You could tell. When I arrived, the office was closed and no one greeted us. We were supposed to have the end spots but they were all taken when we arrived. I saw 2 open spots side by side and since my friend had reserved a spot, as well, I knew that these were ours. I pretty much set up and got ourselves situation with no one greeting us. I just keep stressing the not being greeted because last time the owner was everywhere. It turned out that there was a large party for about 4 spots which is probably the reason they pushed us over. I do wish they had honored my request since I did call almost a year in advance. The people at the part were up late but they quieted down around 11PM or so. They invited us over which I thought was a good touch (so we wouldn't complain). One of the workers went over and asked them to quiet down and reminded them to keep it quiet so that the owners did not come out. We went crabbing the next day and it was a blast! That part of the place had not changed. It was easy to reserve our boat and the employees were helpful. We caught about 5 crabs so that was pretty good. It was good to see the reviews that they are all positives so after we left, it looks like everything was still great and dandy. I was to the point where I was going to try a different place next year but will give them another shot. I just want that at home welcoming feel that I felt last year.

Yelp
Stopping here was the best decision ever. What's better than amazing seafood and adorable kittens?! Everyone was so friendly and the fresh seafood was to die for. I'm from Maine so I was dying to try a selection of west coast shellfish. They have so many cute kittens on the premise that made the experience even more fun. I would come back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
If you're looking for an experience, look no further. Kelly's is a campground, RV park, crab experience, eatery. You can buy crab licenses onsite and rent boats onsite for the real experience of catching/eating your own crab OR, you can be vanilla like me and pay an extremely reasonable price ($15/lb) to eat to your heart's delight on crab, clams and oysters (cooked). Let me be clear. There is NOTHING fancy about this place. It's a paper towel, cut your lemon w/ a plastic knife, paper plate, crab guts, butter in a cup that you have to microwave (LOVE) shells in the water kinda joint. But that's all part of the amazing experience! The beer is cold and the surroundings are as authentic as you can get...I could've sat here all day and just watched the goodies being brought in. Next time I'm close by...I won't hesitate to stop in for another visit!

Brad H.

Yelp
Love it. Came all the way from Arizona. The small oysters are the best.Crabbing was great fun, but caught 0 male crabs both times. My kids loved renting the boat.

Yelp
What an awesome surprise how great this place is. We always drove by thinking it was just a dump. Well we were camping at Nehalem State Park and wanted to do some crabbing. We came here cause they rent boats with baited rings and all. It's been like forever since I operated an outboard and was a little nervous. The guy on the dock was awesome teaching me. Super nice guy and smelly fish bait too. The bay was full of crab. We pulled up 10-15 crab in each ring. Unfortunately most were too small of females. It didn't matter though, we got enough keepers and had a blast We came back and gave the crab to the girls there. They cooked and cleaned them for me. How awesome. They have a great area to eat them and hang out, but we took to go. Wife wasn't 100%. Never does well in boats. Lots more there too. Many people coming in just to buy seafood. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Super fun activity to do when visiting the Oregon coast! It's just the right amount of "hard work", enough time to enjoy great local beers while trying your shot at catching a fresh bite to eat! We crabbed from the floating dock and while we didn't catch a keeper, it was very fun pulling the crab up! They serve all kinds of seafood, steamed oysters are a must! First time trying steamed oysters and they were phenomenal. Best dipping butter I've had for crab was served here as well.

Yelp
Such a fun experience!!! We all had a great first time here! I HAVE SOME TIPS FOR FIRST TIMERS since their website doesn't have a whole of lot specific info. 1) Boating Crab HOURS: 7a-5p season is all year long!!! Although peak season is Sept-Oct. We just showed up at 7am (walk-in) which is the best time from what they told me. 2) You do not need a boating license to use the boat!! They teach you how to use it. Wilson was an awesome teacher! 3) One boat is 750lb max capacity (up to 6 people). Personally we went with a party of 3 and that was very spacious for us. The crabbing rings and life jackets take up a lot of space on the boat and with you tossing the rings out and pulling them in you will need some space, 6 people will be pretty tight IMO. 4) Female crabs like to hang around only females, and vice versa with the males. The only time they co-mingle is during mating season which is summertime. That being said, if you have a female crab in your ring, best to cast elsewhere and find all the males! 5) 12 "criteria-met" crabs per shellfish license! So 3 of us collectively could've took home 36 crabs lol. 6) Keep things speedy at the counter by having your shellfish license on hand, which can easily be registered online at ODFW website (which is good till end of year) 7) Non-Oregon residents are allowed to crab! They just need to purchase the 3-day shellfish license for $20 8) If you have a lot of baby crabs in your ring, that means you have casted too close to the shore, so throw it farther out! 9) Clothing: Bring some good water resistant shoes as it gets a bit wet in the boat, gardening type gloves for pulling up the rope rings and bravely handling the crabs, windbreaker, and girls keep your hair tied up! Also you can bring your morning coffee with you in the boat but you need to hold it the whole time so it might get annoying. Best to chug it or leave it on shore. 10) I almost forgot the criteria-met crabs are males only and has to be a certain size and they will provide you an easy measuring tool for that Ok...I think that's all I gathered from this visit today lol. Have fun !

Yelp
FUN. This stop was one of my favorite during our vacation in Oregon. It was so simple and so enjoyable I will return. We were literally crabbing within 20 minutes of parking the car - we entered the store and Colin and Shirlee were gracious and patient as they explained the how to catch crabs. We bought our licenses, picked up our baited pots and within 30 minutes were hauling crab in on the dock. So enjoyable. We crabbed for 2 hours and likely caught between 75 and 100 crabs. We kept 3 which we took back to shore where the team confirmed they were legal catches, and within 20 minutes they were steamed. The store sells a variety of beverages including beer and hard seltzer, butter and a variety of other optional gear for crabbing or oysters. We bought butter and drinks. Kelly's provides crackers, napkins, knives and forks. The lunch was awesome - enjoying the catch from earlier that morning. Again, Very Fun, Affordable and Professional. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I cannot say enough great and wonderful things about Kelly's. I've been here 3 times now and have absolutely loved it every single time! It is something I really look forward to everytime I visit the Oregon coast. Prior to visiting Kelly's I had never been crabbing before. They give you a brief explanation of how it works and some tips and tricks and send you on your way. The first time was a little intimidating because I didn't know what to expect but wowww!! I had so much more fun than I thought I would. The boat is easy to maneuver once you get the hang of it. The first time I went crabbing we did catch a lot of crabs but unfortunately none were keepers. We ended up buying crabs to eat while we were there and the market price was about $13/pound. The 2nd time, we got lucky and caught 3! They cooked and cleaned our crabs for us which was sooo nice and they also had butter, lemons, and cocktail sauce along with some other things that you can buy in the store to go along with your crabs. Overall, even if you don't catch anything it'll be such a fun experience! And I highly recommend Kelly's for your first time or even if you're an expert! I think they charge a really excellent price for a 2 hour boat rental, 3 baited crab rings, and the license (if you need one).

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS SO GREAT! Whew, okay just had to get that out first. Honestly though- what a fricken' gem. We arrived here to do some crabbing as a group of people who have no idea how to crab and they were wonderful. You can rent a boat and crab rings for such a reasonable price and they tell you everything you need to know to get out there and do it yourself. If you're lucky enough to catch some they steam them for you after. We showed up in the morning and got to take pictures in the cut outs, play with the adorable kittens and cats that seem to run the outside as well as the adorable older pup who moseys around. They already had the fire going, bathrooms available, and a full marker so you can buy beer and snacks for the time on the water. Everyone I encountered that worked there was friendly and helpful and it was just such a fun experience. I would recommend this to anyone trying to have a fun afternoon out on the water.
