Kelly's Roast Beef

We placed a takeout order and were very disappointed with both the service and the quality. The estimated pickup time was 9:30, but the order wasn’t ready until around 9:50. On top of that, the food was prepared completely differently than what we requested—no sauce on the side, among other issues. The roast beef sandwich was especially disappointing; it was just sliced beef drenched in an unpleasant sauce. Overall, we were very let down by both the experience and the food

Kelly's Roast Beef has been a New England institution. I am sad to say with the prices they now charge and the amount of food on the plate it's no longer worth it. Although the food was very good. And the staff was a pleasure to deal with. The shrinkage is to much to take. I'm sorry Kelly's but I will no longer be a fan.

Portions are small and prices are high. I guess to be expected but was shocked at how high! A fisherman's plate with like 6 scallops and 5 medium shrimp and handful of fries was around $32. Never again! This is the honest photo of the plate I got that day.

Not only are the employees here super friendly and welcoming, but they serve the best grilled chicken sandwich you will have. It comes with a nice honey mustard sauce, the perfect amount of Swiss cheese, on a grilled and buttery sesame bun with a pickle and a bag of chips. Also, the roast beef is decadent. It is not deli meat! This is the real deal roast beef and it is amazing. Kelly’s on route 16 is definitely the best roast beef shop around. You have to try it!

Must have the Roast Beef...nuf said Good size portion, fresh, and a decent value. You can't beat the Revere Beach location, but food is the same.

For chain roast beef, they are remarkably consistent. The chicken and fish are good as well. Today, I found the floors to be sticky, but not dirty, like too much soap in the mop water. I was surprised they charge for extra tartar sauce and then give ten packets of ketchup for one order of fries. The prices are reasonable and I recommend them as an alternative fast food restaurant.

Stopped by today to try a small roast beef sandwich. Three way style. The roast beef on this sandwich was dare I say light and fluffy (cloud like). Angelic almost. The bbq sauce was incredible. Perfect amount of mayo. And the sesame roll? Toasted ever so slightly. Not all artists work with paint. The sandwich I had today was crafted by Medford’s very own Roast Beef Picasso. 🤌

My husband got the clams and bellies and then the scallops. Loved them. I got the lobster roll always a treat. Don't get the clam tenders. Sandy not as sweet as the clam plate and French fries/onion rings could use some seasoning. I remember getting their roast beef which was incredible. Enjoy! 11/24 just came n got the lobster roll and it was a bit disappointing. It just didn't taste fresh. Hubby got the fried clams with bellies, scallops and they were amazing as always. Love Revere Beach location so beautiful❤️ we will always come to this location.

Kelly's Roast Beef is a nicer fast food chain with good prices. The inside is very clean and the staff are quick and friendly. I honestly do not have much experience with roast beef and I prefer pastrami over it. I got the normal roast beef combo with mayo, BBQ sauce and cheese which helps add flavor to the sandwich. I do wish the cheese was melted but that's probably not how it's done. The fries are good and crispy. I took smaller bites with the roast beef to make it easier to chew. I thought it was good and will get it again.

Got Kelly's for takeout and it wasn't bad - definitely not the most amazing meal nor was it terrible, just average. We ordered online and picked it up rather quickly which was good as we were in a rush and there was a somewhat long queue inside. They have the takeout orders set on the side and it was relatively fast to go in, pick it up, and leave. Things were nicely packaged so it was also easy to eat in the car a few minutes later - overall, clean experience. The sandwich was not bad, good amount of roast beef and flavor. The fries on the other hand were some of the blandest I've ever had - absolutely no salt or any sort of taste. I love potatoes and fries so it wasn't inedible, but it would've been nice to have a tiny bit of flavor. The coleslaw was also a bit disappointing - again, no taste and just super watery. Overall, I wouldn't say I'm itching to go back, but I wouldn't say no to stopping by again. Just make sure to get ketchup for the fries if you do!

Haven't been here in so long! Came by after work evening shift around 9:30pm Wednesday ordered from the drive thru I got the classic combo of clams, shrimp, scallops and it comes with fries and onion rings and to wash it down with large sprite! Clams where cooked right tastes fresh, shrimp was crisp outside and inside shrimp tasted good also not oily or over fries. Opinion rings perfect and the fries golden brown and crispy lightly salted. Everything was on point! Service was great at the window my food was hot and I was very satisfied with my plate of food, after a long day of work!

Really bland roast beef. I'm not a fan of sauces so I just ordered the sandwich only with cheese. The serving of meat was generous and the sandwich was warm. However, the roast beef needed some seasoning as it didn't taste like anything on its own.

Do not recommend........Not a big fan of ridiculously overpriced food. Roast beef quality is OK. The Onion Rings were: -stale, like stored overnight and reheated, yuk! - dried out - double Yuk! - served like garbage on a paper plate, triple YUK !.

Came here for a quick lunch in the drive thru. I was the only person in line and it took them over 15 minutes to get me my order. The staff wasn't even opening the windows to greet their customers. Horrible experience. If you want roast beef try another location or somewhere else. From what I could see it wasn't clean inside either. Yuck.

Kelly's Roast Beef is famous for (at least in my mind) its roast beef sandwiches, clam chowder, and frappes. Something that I found out recently (maybe because it's a new addition) is that their lobster rolls are only about $20! That's half the price of the lobster rolls in Boston proper. I'm never able to convince tourists of the worth of driving outside the city, but if I could, I'd send them all here. This Kelly's, in particular, is conveniently located near the city, a few minutes from Assembly Station. The staff are always efficient and we've never had a problem with our orders.

This past weekend saw Boston with temps in the 70's in November! This is crazy and we had to go to the beach one more time for the year. We went to Revere beach and there is a Kellys location there. My wife had been craving a roast beef sandwich for a while so it was perfect. There were plenty of people ordering and dining on the outside tables this nice afternoon day. The staff was super patient and nice in taking our order, and also when I had to go back and ask for more sauce etc. The food was good. Roast beef sandwich - very good! They are known for this Clam chowder - I'm more used to the NE creamy kind, but the flavor is there and there were lots of clam bits BBQ beef burger - It was okay. I don't care for it but thankfully my kid liked it Clam and scallop combo - I think there is less clam than expected on this plate...but things are expensive these days, I guess. Taste wise, it was good...their tartar sauce is amazing though..ask for extra! They have a beverage machine inside the store...the kind that spits out any drink you can dream of. My kids were happy to get Hi C fruit punch. There are several options when looking for lunch in this area, but Kelly's gives you something you're used to. They were good.

Despite seeing Kelly's Roast Beef on a regular basis, I never thought to go in to actually check it out. One night, though, I was in the mood for a roast beef sandwich, and Kelly's Roast Beef immediately came to mind. I was quickly and easily able to place an order at the counter. Since the restaurant was less than half occupied, I expected my food to come out promptly. Nevertheless, I had to wait quite a lengthy amount of time before my food came out. My roast beef sandwich, however, was completely worth the wait. The toasted bread complemented the roast beef. Above all, they didn't skimp on the meat, unlike other restaurants.

Unfortunately need to update based on my last visit. Girl behind the counter did anything she could do to not help me (including playing on her phone) until the guy in charge of the drive thru told her to take my order. Sandwich was meh. Beef was sliced far too thickly and was dry. Milkshake was very good though! Next time I'll take the extra time to get up to Pete's in Woburn if I want a good beef and good service. If I want a grilled cheese and a milkshake, I'll consider Kelly's.

Great roast beef, and they even had a lobster roll combo (the surf and turf). Great price.

Been here many times over the years, though not as often lately. They have a few locations, this one is their original directly across from Revere Beach. Our party of five ordered: 2 Large Roast Beef Sandwiches with sauce: $10.95 ea. 1 Small Roast Beef Sandwich with sauce on the side: $9.75 1 Reuben: $11.95 1 Caesar Salad with Chicken: $10.95 1 Medium Fry: $5.50 The sandwiches came in plastic containers, the fries in a paper bag. The fries were sampled on the way home, and they were hot and crispy, but needed some salt. The sandwiches had to wait until we arrived. Unfortunately, as the sandwiches are hot, and are inside a plastic container, they got soggy in the 10 minutes it took to begin eating them. There was too much sauce on the large sandwiches (they were kind of drenched and sloppy). The roast beef was a little chewy, but the Reuben was very good. I'd rather see Kelly's using paper to wrap their sandwiches for environmental reasons, but I also think their sandwiches might arrive less soggy. Overall not bad, and I would return if and when in the area.

Kelly's is great for quick food, but not what I would necessarily call "fast food", since most of your food is made to order. Naturally, their Roast Beef is outstanding. I don't get them often, but they do have really good Hot Dogs as well. There are two items that they don't do well; the fried fish sandwich, and the Club Sandwich. The fried fish is okay, more or less mediocre. This is because they use "Atlantic White Fish" which really could be any kind of white fish, which means the quality and espeically the taste will vary from one visit to the next. For a five star Fish Sandwich, you absolutley must have one made of Haddock. So for that, I have to go elsewhere. Again, their Club Sandwich is desent, and better overall that the fried fish sandwich, but it definitely is not what any New Englander would decribe as being a Club Sandwich. A Club Sandwick has three slices of bread (not only two that Kelly's uses), and is ALWAYS toasted (at Kelly's you have to ask for it to be toasted). There are, of course, two layers of meat and generous poriton of them, particularly bacon, which is really what make a Club Sandwich a true Club Sandwich (with only two slices of bread, Kellly's naturally only has one layer of meat). Again, when I want one of these, I go elsewhere. The rest of their menu is excellant. My wife loved all their seafood and especially their shellfish items, especially the clam plate (I'm allergic to shellfish, so I can't eat them, theredfore I can't comment directly on them). Unquestionably, their Roast Beef is among the best in New England. The french fries I would give 6-7 stars out of 10. Not the best, but pretty decent. Not good enough for me to get them frequently though. I'm exceptionally picky when I come to French Fries. Their shakes are also very good, but not quite five star, but easily four stars. This location also has plentiful parking, fairly ease of access, and a convenient location for Medford, Everett, Chelsea and surrounding area residents,

Last time I was here (defuse, a pandemic) I swore I would never return. Waited at the counter when first arriving, had to ask a cook if anyone was around to take my order. Ordered a large roast beef and a side of onion rings. Onion rings had no heat to them. When I asked for new ones I was given them immediately, which means they already had hot ones cooked and chose to gave me the ones that were not hot. The place needs music! While I was eating I could hear the cooks bantering back and forth, real turn off. Also while eating a woman who had ordered food to go and left with her food came back in to get her burger Re-cooked ("order off the screen"). Food was good otherwise. I was in there today 9/23/2023 tons of fruit flies and onion rings were undercooked and the burger had no taste. I usually like the place I don't know what happened.

I don't know what happened to Kelly's. Yesterday, I had the worst piece of fish I've ever had. Yes, I ate it all, only because I was too lazy to go back to the restaurant and tell them what a horrible piece of fish it was. I've had the rancid taste in my mouth all last night. When I go to the dentist this morning, I'll have to apologize for my horrible breath. As I've gotten older, I have added more and more establishments to my list of places I will never go to again. Kelly's just made that list.

This place sucked.i was surprised .I used to eat here all the time. We go here every Wednesday night.not anymore.

Today I can back to eat here again , and let you know, customer service must better than before , hamburger was ok, I hope you continue up grade So far is okay

I suppose if you're coming home late and need something to eat other than BK, McDonalds, or something like that - Kelly's will do the trick. If you go to Kelly's, go to the one by Revere Beach! Whole different experience!!

I went into this restaurant yesterday hoping to get at least a dissent experience but instead I got the worst food I have ever tasted the lobster role tasted like gum without the flavor and the beef if you could call it that tasted so bad I could not even eat it without the urge of vomiting and the service just as bad I saw one of the employees wearing airpods while working and one was just on their form texting the only employee that was doing something cleaning the tables and disposing of the trash was doing a better job than the people the register also I saw one of the cashiers waiter pick their nose and did not bother to wash there hands I recommend never to eat here ever again if you care about your health and your sense of taste when I recommend is you eat at the gas station The food and service is better.

Betty was amazing first off!! She was so friendly & really made us feel like we were with family. We tried their roast beef with cheese, bbq sauce & mayo (cashier suggested it) & it was pretty good to be fast food! Give it a try.

First, let me say Kelly's is an institution in Massachusetts. I've been coming to Kelly's when the Revere store was the only one. I have been to every store in Mass. It is my opinion that the Saugus store is the best. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but they seem to put more on the plate than all the other stores. I have never had a bad experience at any store. Occasionally, there may be slightly more grease, but let's face it, it's fried food, what do you expect? The staff is always helpful & knowledgable. I like the way they give you the number tag, then they bring out your food to your table when it is ready. How they find you in the large store in Saugus is beyond me. But they do. I keep a close eye on service in the food industry. I can't wait until they open the new store in Dedham this Summer. My recondition. If you like fried seafood give Kelly's a try.

Went to Kelly's on Revere Beach Pkwy., Medford,Ma. Ordered a roast beef with an side of onion rings. Got back and only had onion rings. I called immediately, and was told my sandwich was there, and they would make me a fresh one. Unfortunately I walk with a cane, and it took me 1/2 hr. to get there. The man who I spoke to told me he would send me a gift card, which I never received. I live across the street from Kelly's but I don't it's worth the walk.

The Buffalo chicken wraps are on point at this location. The staff is always friendly and it doesn't go unnoticed!

Decently priced lobster rolls, but they could use a little more thawing. Skip the clam chowder. Very watery.

Best Lobster roll ever In my studied (!!) opinion I whole lobster ( feet included, sweetest part) Lemon & celery !! I always order 2 , because the roll Is such a celebration, but am Not able to eat them both in one sitting ... in my 30 years enjoying them have NEVER BEEN DISSATISFIED!!

Went to Kelly's today in Pasadena, Fl. Whole clam roll was very good. Also had the large lobster roll. Was disappointed with it. Lobster was very watery and didn't have the nice sweet lobster taste. Not much taste at all. Will say that they gave lots of lobster. Also got the large roast beef sandwich and it was very tasty with lots of meat. Would get the clam roll and roast beef again but not the lobster roll, which cost 29.95.

Very good roast beef sandwich but the WORST French fries ever. Low end generic frozen fries! Not any seasoning whatsoever BAD. Skip getting the French fries $6.00 for a large ugh I shouldn't have but I didn't know better it was my first visit. Original Kellys Salem NH how come upper management doesn't know this. Heck Wendy's has better fries. Did drive through no comment on ambiance's

I went back to Boston for family business. I used to be a regular at the Kelly's at the beach. I really don't know what has happened to Kelly's, but it's not good. The service was poor, but the clams were worse. I always crave fried clams as you can't find them in SoCal. What a huge disappointment:( Over cooked, over priced and under sized. Only offering clam rolls and plates, no pints anymore I guess. Sadly , i will not bother returning on my next visit. They're prettt awful, the crappy service didn't help either. A lot of workers milling about, chit chatting, not bothering to notice customers. Later I went to another place my in Everett that nephew suggested, that was way better. Don't bother with Kelly's, it ain't worth the time, or the money.

Waited almost 20 min in drive thru for a hot dog kids meal. Understandably this was around noon, but you could see younger employees through the window standing there doing nothing with their arms folded. While what appeared to be only senior citizens working the windows. The bag even comes with an advertisement for full and part time jobs. The whole process is unacceptable for over priced food. NEVER GOING TO A KELLY'S ROAST BEEF ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN.

Name another place where you can get a 4oz lobster roll on a griddled bun, a 4oz rare roast beef with horseradish and au jus plus onion rings for $16. Go ahead, internet it, I'll wait. Coca Cola Freestyle represent. Kelly's is an institution, and the weirdo carousel horse is just icing on my cake.

I have passed this place a million times and have heard about it, but hadn't been. I went last Saturday between going to the Encore casino for the first time and hitting up my favorite distillery, Short Path. I'm not a roast beef person, so I went with the shrimp plate with french fries. The plate came with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for the shrimp (I opted for cocktail) and I also ordered a Coke. We got a plastic number and they brought the food to our table when it was ready. The food was ok. The fries were crisp, but completely unseasoned (I had to add salt and pepper for flavor). The shrimp were good and fried well, but I they had forgotten my cocktail sauce, so I had to go back to the counter to get it. Mid-way through my meal, I realized they hadn't brought my soda either, so I had to go to the counter again to ask for it. I would go back to Kelly's if someone really wanted to. The shrimp was good and the portion size was plenty for me. The fries should be given some oomph and they need to remember to give a person everything they ordered. Other than that... sure - why not?

Good sandwich for a good price. $ 11 something for delivery & tip! Roast beef was tender & rare. Bun was hardy enough to not dissolve from the juices.

You could order 20 fish sandwiches and they will give you zero tarter sauce. You can ask for an extra one and they won't give you any. Without fail anytime I have food picked up from Kellys they never ever put tarter sauce in. What is going on with the tarter sauce?

I am so sad to write this but I wish I could go back in time and not eat here. It was our first time. There were either fruit flies, gnats, or sewer flies everywhere. The service was ok and fast but the food was very bland. We ordered the scallop roll which comes with fries and onion rings. The scallops were ok but the fries were unseasoned, dry and had a soapy taste. We also had a cup of clam chowder which was good, with a lot of clams, it was not thick which I like but my boyfriend didn't like it. We also had the Buffalo chicken wrap, this was good and worth the money. We would order this if we ever went back. I think it was expensive for a really mediocre food.

Sure, the place has "roast beef" in the name but they're just as much a seafood joint as they are a beef joint. Fast food style, order at the counter and they'll bring it to you. This restaurant could have been an Arby's in a previous life with the booths and condiments layout. I chose the lobster roll for lunch today. A good serving of lobster in a very light mayonnaise with just a little bit of celery on a toasted hot dog bun. Quite traditional and quite good. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Service was good, the restaurant was clean and the lunch was great. It's as good as it gets.

i got the surf and turf special about 23.00 it was horrible! the lobster roll was mushy like tuna, the roast beef was brown and tough,even the onion rings were oily cold! I did say something to the staff about 5 pp we're working and horsing around, I was the only person at the counter, just 2 other pp there sittin/eating,. never again! don't waste your time and money!

I used to go to Kelly's for lunch frequently. Recently or in the past few months, they switched to smaller portions, even the meat in the sandwiched is minimal!! Of course their prices went up while the portions got smaller. And when I feel cheated I don't go back

Classic New England seafood and the best roast beef we've ever had. The chowder really hit the spot. Staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. We'll be back next time we're in town!

This place is so reminiscent to the days gone by on Revere Beach and the original Kelly's Roast Beef. It's said that was the place that first made a roast beef sandwich. This location is new and fancy compared with the takeout stand on the beach I grew up with. This Kelly's is a corporate America restaurant. Where the folklore of the original lives on in many locations such as this one. I tend to reminisce back to the days when I was walking by as a boy with my German Shepherd Buddy and Old Man Kelly used to call me over from across the street so he can give roast beef ends to my dog what a great man. I'm glad that his legacy lives on in many different locations now very well deserved. As for the food the roast beef is legendary and the clam chowder is the bomb chicken fingers are fabulous and the sea food is out of this world the clams taste exactly how they did 30 years ago. And don't even mention you know good tarta (tarter) until you try Kelly's there's no other like it. And when on Revere Beach or at any Kelly's Roast Beef locations you need to eat your fries the Old School Revere way with a bunch of tarta. FYI. Try a real lobster roll. ENJOY‼‼‼

Love this restaurant. Hands-down the Best Lobster sandwiches out there. They are fresh, firm, and delicious. Plus the price is totally reasonable. Lobster sandwiches come with chips and a pickle. I also got clam chowder. It is very good and packed with Clams. The restaurant is clean and the staff is awesome. Three of us went and everything was great Lots of parking in the lot

I came here after a long day in the sun for the sand sculpting festival. On the advice of a friend (rather than the namesake roast beef sandwich), I got the lobster roll (~20) and did not regret it! The bun was packed full of fresh, crisp lobster. I could barely even finish it because there was so much lobster! I sampled my friend's strawberry frappe, which was equally excellent and hit the spot on such a hot day. The only thing is that there is limited seating (a few patio tables outside) so we ended up sitting at the picnic tables across the road by the beach. Would definitely come back for more lobster roll.

i love Kelly's the hot dog and grilled cheese so good i get it at least twice a week, my top 5 place to go!!!!

Had a urge for an old fashion fish sandwich and firs and Kelly delivered! Late dinner and they never disappoint me. Great meal for The price and open late

Oh no! Kelly's we love your sandwiches but this was so odd. We came by at about 5pm only 1-2 cars in line. We got one of those grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and the bread was soooooo drenched in that butter stuff! So much that is leaked out of the container and leaked through all the napkins and through the bag! The sandwich was so wet with butter it was basically floppy and drenched through to the touch. Very surprised since it looked like the manager I think, was serving. Oh well stay safe! **We had to throw away that sandwich!**
